I have never been treated so rudely by a hotel associate. We stay at the Hampton Niceville quite often and knew that renovations were being done. We never expected an unusable building with no lobby, no elevator and no breakfast. We were told that we could walk over to the hotel next door (Tru) for breakfast. We were also told that we could stay there but would have to pay the rate of the Hampton, which was more than the rate for the Tru hotel. The receptionist at the Hampton was extremely rude. You've lost our business.

It's ok for a 1 night stop over on the way to wherever. The staff is super friendly & helpful. Little gift bags are given to Honors members, so that's nice. Coffee is available 24 hours and a light breakfast is provided: diy waffles, premade omelettes, muffins/breads, juice, yogurt, oranges... The toaster was "out of order". The room was musty smelling and damp. The carpet was dirty-I had to wipe my feet before getting in bed. The bedding was clean & comfy. The room was sanitized & sealed otherwise. I wouldn't say it's a dive and horrible, but not quite 3 star either.

First and foremost, the staff was very friendly. The room itself was good. Wifi was faster than most hotels I've stayed at. There are power outlets (and powered USB ports) on the nightstand, so you don't have to reach behind the bed or anything like that. There isn't anything interesting within walking distance, but Destin and Eglin AFB/Northwest Florida Regional Airport are both around 20-25 minutes away by car. The only downside was that the hotel didn't have a laundry room. If you're staying here for more than a few days, check out the Magic Kastle laundromat in Niceville- they have a service where you can drop off your laundry in the morning and pick it up later that day (2 small bags of clothes came out to $13 or so, totally worth it if you'd rather spend your free time at the beach).

Disappointing Experience as a Titanium Member - Flight Cancellation Not Honored…read more I am a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Member and had a reservation at this hotel for a business meeting in Fort Walton Beach on July 29th. Unfortunately, my flight was cancelled and I was unable to make it to the hotel. I called the hotel immediately (around 7 p.m. local time) to notify them, fully understanding that a hold had already been placed on my card. The associate I spoke with said he did not have the authority to cancel or reverse the hold, but offered to move my stay to the following night in case I could rebook a flight. He also told me a manager would contact me about the authorization hold. The next day, when it became clear I still could not make the trip, I called again and spoke with another staff member. I explained the previous conversation in detail, and she also said a manager would reach out. A full week later, I had still never heard from a manager and was charged the full rate. When I finally spoke with Ali (who appears to handle guest concerns), I was told they would not issue a refund. As a Titanium Member with hundreds of stays across the Marriott portfolio, I have dealt with flight cancellations and travel disruptions many times. In every previous case, the property or Bonvoy has worked with me when I provided timely notice. This is the first time I have been refused a refund under these circumstances. After two separate conversations in which staff committed to manager follow-up that never happened, the hotel chose to keep the full charge rather than resolve a clear travel disruption. For a $200 stay, that decision speaks for itself. If your travel plans change unexpectedly, be aware of how this property handles cancellations -- even for elite members who notify them promptly.

Easy, right? Maybe not (fine print). I guess the "high authority" at this spot declined my request without any contact. I called days later asking if there was something that could be worked out. Possibly staying the night and we would be there in 8 hrs. There is always something that could be done right? I could at least ask. Speaking to Jennifer again, she mentioned that the supervisor who would be able to approve this had been working different shifts so I requested a call back. On the road, anxious, I called hours later and thought I'd steer on the side of caution to reserve a room (we still need to stay the night). I questioned why I did that later and ask Jennifer to cancel that and I would just wait for a call from leadership. I never got a call back. My thoughts: Money is already theirs so why call me back? Did Jennifer relay the message? I cannot say. We drove passed and went on our way. It would've been awesome to stay here as I want to be a loyal best western customer.

BEWARE-- Save your health and your money. Check in: July 29…read more The plan was to stop here to rest for a few hours while a storm was passing through the area. Unfortunately the resting period was short lived and ended much sooner than anticipated due to an unsanitary conditions. I've stayed at a few Quality Inns before, typically for a very short period, and they met the expectations for a 2-star hotel but shucks, everyone is deserving of a clean tub, at the least. This hotel apparently isn't in the business of cleaning bathtubs or bathrooms for that matter. The tub was filled with water and God knows what else floating around in it; it's obvious that it had not been touched by housekeeping. There was hair on the toilet. The bed was made and everything else appeared to be "clean" but judging by the bathroom's appearance, assumption that the rest of the area was "clean" was hard to believe, especially with dim lighting. This mishap speaks volume of the quality and cleanliness of this particular hotel. I will never be back. I didn't bother asking for another room because at that point there was no other room that I would've felt comfortable sleeping in. I used my Choice Hotels rewards points to book this stay so a refund could not be issue at the front desk but only through tele customer support, so I was told. I left a large note in the bathroom reminding housekeeping to clean the bathroom for the next guest. Now that I have read previous reviews, unsanitary conditions are a norm at this place. To top this experience off, I woke up with a stomach virus on Tuesday morning that has lasted about 2 days now (still recuperating). I'm pretty sure I contracted the virus from this filthy place on Sunday during my encounter.

Bed, bathroom, mini fridge, etc. The ladies at the desk at both check in and check out were both very friendly. Free coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby. It is certainly not a resort, but for $60/night it was a great place to stay. If I had found a $60/night motel elsewhere, I'm sure it would not have been as pleasant of a stay. I would stay here again.

This is the worst conditions I have experienced for a military Inn!! Do NOT be Fooled by the other Photos that look pleasant and inviting! I uploaded a couple of photos for all to see if you choose to stay in the 60s style Eglin Inn Vila's! It is a disgrace to our Military Families to stay in such a disgraceful place. It was embarrassing as a Senior Officer/Soldier to be given a room in this shape on a military installation/base. The room is located in a different location from the check-in building! We checked out immediately the next morning because there was no other hotel that had rooms available within 30 miles that night! After driving for hours the day prior wishing to get a comfortable nights rest, it was horrible to see a room in this shape looking like it was in a low class neighborhood in the woods!! It was Mold smelling, had unclean towels and bedding! No Ventalation in bedroom or bathroom, bed felt like bricks, pull out bed felt like you were sleeping on an iron mattress, Walls were covered with mold as well as the sinks and base boards. The most heartbreaking thing was the next morning when I opened the door and it was pouring down rain; the maid was pushing the tarp covered cart in the Quad(see picture), knocking on the doors for service! I can't imagine how the other Employess are treated :-( ....If you get the last project villa, pray it's not raining because you have to walk over 100feet in pouring rain to the muddy parking area to load your car up! Do not bring your family here! Pay the difference and stay outside the base at the Marriott, Hamptons, or Holiday Inn. Can't even rely on your own to take care of its own! YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! This is a case of waste, fraud and abuse to our own people in the Armed Forces!
