Decent wifi for free at a budget hotel
    David P.

First off, this was more of a "STAYcation". I just felt like getting my kids out of the house for the night and drove about 1 hour to get here. The front desk clerk, Shelby, was super friendly and helped me get my room booked. I was even dumb enough that I booked for 2 weeks later and she was easily able to move it to tonight since they weren't booked... The room shocked me.... In a GOOD way.... Much nicer than I expected, felt like it should have been a $125 room a night instead of what I paid.... Room smelled nice and everything was supper clean. The TV had 2 hdmi ports and my kids easily connected their Xbox one to it. (There is a trick to connect an Xbox one to their wifi but you need to google it- "how to connect your Xbox one to a hotel wireless network"). Deals with manually entering an an alternate MAC address, pretty easy. The jacuzzi/hot tub was out of order but the pool was clean and open. Only my daughter braved the cold temps in January but she had fun for... 3 minutes!! Looking forward to their hot breakfast here. Great to know its included and their is an awesome church next door called "Generations United" that starts church at 10am on Sunday we are going to check out. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

Quality Inn? No. Wrong. First I will begin by saying the hotel staff here is extremely welcoming and nice. They're the best part of the stay. All the front desk clerks we encountered were great and the woman running the breakfast was extremely sweet. However. The rooms are something else. They are dirty, outdated, and flat out gross. The walls and ceilings are cracked, the bathroom fixtures are rusted, there were bugs, and the people actually at the hotel were scary. The paint was god awful as well. They went AROUND the top of the curtains, and didn't even bother to clean up extra. The ceilings looked cracked and crusty. The bathroom was gross. I bleached the tub before taking a shower. There was an odd shower mat inside the tub that had a big blue splotch on it. It was more like a crackhead convention than a hotel. There were always people outside drinking and smoking. Even when it was raining, one was sitting outside in a pool chair smoking while getting drenched. In reality, it's not a hotel, the doors are outside. It's more like a motel. My dad wouldn't let me go to the car alone. There were always weirdos lurking. People were caught sneaking into the pool and continental breakfast because there's no real security or gates around the place. I was getting ready for bed and saw a roach scamper out from the bottom of the bed. Also, my sister was taking a shower when she saw one in there. There were flies in the room as well. After taking a nap one afternoon I realized there was a rather repulsive looking yellow and brown spot on my comforter. Honestly, this place is not worth the 100+ a night you pay. Don't waste your money. It's sad because the staff is extremely welcoming. If we would have had the option to cancel and leave, we would have, but we were on a tight schedule and budget.

Mold behind the toilet, super cool. And to stop it from leaking a plastic bag

Yelp really needs to add a zero option. Don't do it. The floor had sand on it, mold on the walls and something very strange growing between the window pains obstructing the view. Look at the photos I uploaded. The manager seemed offended when I showed him the photos. Don't do it. Avoid this place like the plague.

Disappointing Experience as a Titanium Member - Flight Cancellation Not Honored…read more I am a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Member and had a reservation at this hotel for a business meeting in Fort Walton Beach on July 29th. Unfortunately, my flight was cancelled and I was unable to make it to the hotel. I called the hotel immediately (around 7 p.m. local time) to notify them, fully understanding that a hold had already been placed on my card. The associate I spoke with said he did not have the authority to cancel or reverse the hold, but offered to move my stay to the following night in case I could rebook a flight. He also told me a manager would contact me about the authorization hold. The next day, when it became clear I still could not make the trip, I called again and spoke with another staff member. I explained the previous conversation in detail, and she also said a manager would reach out. A full week later, I had still never heard from a manager and was charged the full rate. When I finally spoke with Ali (who appears to handle guest concerns), I was told they would not issue a refund. As a Titanium Member with hundreds of stays across the Marriott portfolio, I have dealt with flight cancellations and travel disruptions many times. In every previous case, the property or Bonvoy has worked with me when I provided timely notice. This is the first time I have been refused a refund under these circumstances. After two separate conversations in which staff committed to manager follow-up that never happened, the hotel chose to keep the full charge rather than resolve a clear travel disruption. For a $200 stay, that decision speaks for itself. If your travel plans change unexpectedly, be aware of how this property handles cancellations -- even for elite members who notify them promptly.

Easy, right? Maybe not (fine print). I guess the "high authority" at this spot declined my request without any contact. I called days later asking if there was something that could be worked out. Possibly staying the night and we would be there in 8 hrs. There is always something that could be done right? I could at least ask. Speaking to Jennifer again, she mentioned that the supervisor who would be able to approve this had been working different shifts so I requested a call back. On the road, anxious, I called hours later and thought I'd steer on the side of caution to reserve a room (we still need to stay the night). I questioned why I did that later and ask Jennifer to cancel that and I would just wait for a call from leadership. I never got a call back. My thoughts: Money is already theirs so why call me back? Did Jennifer relay the message? I cannot say. We drove passed and went on our way. It would've been awesome to stay here as I want to be a loyal best western customer.

Bed, bathroom, mini fridge, etc. The ladies at the desk at both check in and check out were both very friendly. Free coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby. It is certainly not a resort, but for $60/night it was a great place to stay. If I had found a $60/night motel elsewhere, I'm sure it would not have been as pleasant of a stay. I would stay here again.

DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS AT EGLIN INN ON BASE!!!! Wish I would have read Danella's review prior to…read morethis reservations! In all of my 25 years of being Active duty.... This is the worst conditions I have experienced for a military Inn!! Do NOT be Fooled by the other Photos that look pleasant and inviting! I uploaded a couple of photos for all to see if you choose to stay in the 60s style Eglin Inn Vila's! It is a disgrace to our Military Families to stay in such a disgraceful place. It was embarrassing as a Senior Officer/Soldier to be given a room in this shape on a military installation/base. The room is located in a different location from the check-in building! We checked out immediately the next morning because there was no other hotel that had rooms available within 30 miles that night! After driving for hours the day prior wishing to get a comfortable nights rest, it was horrible to see a room in this shape looking like it was in a low class neighborhood in the woods!! It was Mold smelling, had unclean towels and bedding! No Ventalation in bedroom or bathroom, bed felt like bricks, pull out bed felt like you were sleeping on an iron mattress, Walls were covered with mold as well as the sinks and base boards. The most heartbreaking thing was the next morning when I opened the door and it was pouring down rain; the maid was pushing the tarp covered cart in the Quad(see picture), knocking on the doors for service! I can't imagine how the other Employess are treated :-( ....If you get the last project villa, pray it's not raining because you have to walk over 100feet in pouring rain to the muddy parking area to load your car up! Do not bring your family here! Pay the difference and stay outside the base at the Marriott, Hamptons, or Holiday Inn. Can't even rely on your own to take care of its own! YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! This is a case of waste, fraud and abuse to our own people in the Armed Forces!
