When visiting Connecticut we enjoy staying at the Hampton Inn. The price is usually good, and service is great. The rooms after the recent updates are not quite as inviting as before. There is little to no place to store your clothes, no dressers, a closet with most of space used for the iron and it's board. There seems to have been a change in staff or management. Before in the afternoon you would be greeted with warm cookies at check in. The breakfast offered each morning is a plus and there always seem to be enough for all guest. Parking is good, disabled parking is limited. Tip! Try to get a room on the even side of the building to avoid the noise of the highway. If you wish to sleep well through the night. read more

Trash on the floor of our room. Water stains on ceiling. Room smells like mildew. The fitness center only has a couple machines working. More importantly, we left out something in the room. We came back to get it. Niles, the manager was rude to us and was disinterested in helping us get the item back. 30 minutes later he told us there was a misunderstanding and wasn't sure if they had the item and told us to be patient. This hotel is really tired. The hardware is just so hold its embarassing. Carpets are sticky in the rooms, doors are all scratched, just the overall maintenance is so poor it's a disgrace. Only one elevator works and half the time in the morning the cleaners are using it and they take up half the space, easily. Not their fault of course, but the owner really needs to spend money on fixing this place up. I was worried about security since one of the side entrances had a broken door and anyone could have entered. There have also been car damage here in the carpark (read previous posts) so I was a bit concerned. BUT, the staff are amazing and realy hard working. Gabriel in particular I wanted to mention as someone who was always happy and willing to help, even though there was a line of people waiting and the phone was ringing off the hook. Overall, great staff at front desk, but the condition of the hotel and rooms are awful. I'm not coming back again. Staff shortages also mean that you need to ask for room service. They even ask you to leave your sheets and towels outside thw door so you can imagine how unhygienic it is. A serious disappointment, and I question whether Hilton really knows how awful the condition of this property is. read more

I've stayed here two or three times in 2019 (multiple days each time) and Everytime there are renovations going on. Most of the time the Hilton App will warn you about any renovations but not here. It looks like they are installing new siding right now. The draw back comes from the entrances. The front and southwest side entrances are blocked off while the renovators are present. The back entrance by the pool is broken. The only entrance is on the northeast side. It's not the end of the world but there should have been a heads up. Other than that, breakfast is pretty standard. They have real juice in large carafes instead of smoothies like most of the other Hamptons. The rooms are pretty standard too. A little dated compared to the other Hamptons but I guess that's why they're renovating. read more

No one at this complex communicated with each other. Its a disaster and im out 170 dollars even though I had clear proof and documentation from them by email. When I made my in reservation July 2022, I requested a handicapped room for my parents who are both in wheelchairs. I confirmed my reservation, May 2023, a month prior and again requested a handicapped room because my parents are both in wheelchairs. When I arrived at the hotel my parents were given a room on the 3rd floor! I have a question: If there was a fire how would my parents evacuate the building? I called the manager in the hotel who couldn't answer that question. I called the corporate office and spoke to TERESA. She refused to give me her last name. I explained to Teresa that my parents were given a room on the 3rd floor and asked how would they get out in a fire. This was her response: "When you make a reservation it is a gamble what room you will receive". "Handicap rooms need a wide doorway and grab bars in the bathroom." She said "to use the elevator in the building and there were multiple evaluators available." I said I thought you couldn't use an elevator in a fire. Silence on her end! While the room's bathroom did have a grab bar, it also had a bathrub. How will a handicap person in a wheel chair use a bathtub? My question again. How will a person who is handicap get out safety on the 3rd floor? read more

Just stayed here for one night and this is the most price-reasonable option in town. The room was fine, except that there were stains on the blanket and bedsheet (see the attached). I went to get my drink, but the lid is not compatible with the cup at all. The other Hilton hotel used to have the white lids but this hotel uses the black lids that are not compatible at all... No coffee sleeves I had to use napkins instead. (Later I found out that they just don't have the sleeves at all) Breakfast, just general Hilton hotel breakfasts. But there is something a little different from the other Hilton hotels. They also had a hot food section, such as eggs, sausage and french toast, just like the other Hilton hotels. In all other Hilton hotels, customers are free to get any food. But here, they have staff to serve you the hot food. They stop any customer to get closer to those hot food, they guard the section. They ask you what you want and they give small portions of it. I already told them I have 3 people in my room and they still gave really small portions. Luckily we have small appetite and small portions work for us, but I feel bad for those who need a big breakfast in the morning. So even though I wanted more sausage, I would rather make waffles myself instead (Customers are free to get other food themselves, but not the hot food). Even if I was making my waffles, the short guy at the hot food section still kept an eye on every customer. And I feel like they are treating us like prisoners, if you know what I mean. This is really a big No No. I don't understand why they have to serve us the hot food, maybe they don't want to cook more and refill if the food is running out? I won't come back here again, just don't feel good about it. read more

Horrible. Not the safe bet Hampton inn we are used to. Old and needing updates, paint dirty. Fingerprints all over bathroom door and walls- would prob come off if someone actually cleaned properly. Shower floor stained brown.. again maybe use some bleach. Black mold/mildew around grab bar in shower. Lots of it. This place was filthy- all other hotels booked otherwise we would have left. Smelled like dirty diaper in hallways. Extremely loud all hours of the night. Fireworks being shot off in parking lot until 11 am. Horrible experience. read more

The hotel is a bit out dated. The rooms were not the best and the workout room is very small, minimal equipment and the treadmills make an awful noise while on them. They also did not have any sanitary wipes to clean anything so I had to go find some in the dining area. I wouldn't recommend staying until it's cleaner and updated. read more

I am a Diamond honors and have been for many years so I stay at Hilton hotels a lot. The lobby and pool are pretty typical for a Hampton Inn and the staff at the front desk were polite. But, I do have some items I will rate individually. Room - the first room they gave me had a leaking roof and towels placed under it which were soaked like you dipped them into a tub. So, I was given a new room. Faucet - wtf? Can't wash your hands without flooding the counter due to its location. Breakfast- it was ok but I can't stand anymore of the Southwest omelets and sausage patties. Every day they had sausage patties and they tear up my stomach. They had plain scrambled eggs 2 of the 10 nights here and bacon only once to my recollection. The water pressure on the 4th floor is horrible. It's like showering with a Dixie cup amount of water. It dribbles out maybe 6" from the shower head with no pressure or volume. Worst for 2018 by far and maybe 2017. Bed was comfortable, TV's are a little small ( like 32"), amenities and towels were good as expected. Location - nothing within walking distance for food and in fact there isn't much at all between the interstate and arriving at the hotel except I gas station. So, plan on a 5 to 10 minute drive to eat or get anything. Construction. Without notice, a letter, or anything, they absolutely dismantled the entire 4th floor. Lights, fixtures, wall paper, everything was stripped. In fact, if I didn't know how many doors down the hall my room was from going and going so many times, I wouldn't have found the room because all room numbers were removed. They did put on sheets of paper taped to the doors after 3 days though? After that I did get the management to give me a letter of apology and some points, but it isn't a balanced trade. I would have stayed elsewhere than to deal with that for a week and all weekend until 10 at night. (Pounding, scraping, the smell, etc) Overall, the stay was tolerable but most likely I'll find something else when I'm back in town. Enjoy! read more

I stayed here for two nights recently. Most of these hotels such as Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn express, etc etc are pretty similar, but I can comment on a few things. The staff was really friendly and helpful when it came to local dining options, directions and helped me out with a limo transfer to Hartford Bradley. The breakfast was typical but really nice. I liked the little cheese omelettes they had. One of the days they had crispy bacon. I try to cut out sugar, so I was able to feast on all of the above including hard boiled eggs. Parking is easily accessible and convenient. The gym is better than others I've seen in hotels of this class as they have free weights alongside the typical cardio machines, as well as a decent length pool. They also had a better business centre than others I have seen The wifi was free and worked fine (make sure to sign up for a free HHonors account so that you can log onto the wifi easier). All in all a very pleasant experience and I had no negative issues. read more

One of few options in town, none particularly good. Seems for every couple of decent stays, there's a real stinker. This time we stayed in adjoining rooms to accommodate an elderly family member. They were on the ground floor near the side entrance and stairwell, neither of which would be our normal preference. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the night was punctuated with various noisy comings and goings, including a particularly loud person shouting exclamations in the hallway at 3am. It proved to be a rather fitful night - but regrettably not the first. We've had lovers quarrel outside our window, loud cars tear through the parking lot, and noisy neighbors stomp around in adjacent rooms. I wish my family would see fit to try other places a little farther away. The convenience of this location still wins the argument - but after over 15 years of inconsistency, I just don't think this place can ever become a reliably comfortable place to stay. read more

Here for work, friendly staff, I find it to be clean. Major gripe however. Whoever designed the bathroom sink here is an idiot. The put the spigot in the far corner to apparently be stylish. You can't get at the water without touching the sink. While it sounds minor every time I use the sink I curse the designer. Typical Hampton Inn breakfast. read more

The staff seemed unhappy but probably due the senior manager working at this hotel. The windows need to be updated to block sounds from the road. I reserved a room with a whirlpool tub which I never got to use. There was no access to the pool so this was the next best thing. I immediately had to move my room 2 times upon arrival because the tub was beyond filthy and the room smelled of an ashtray. I never stayed at any of the Hilton hotels where it was dirty or smelled this way. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted. The staff at the hotel were very nice thats the only good thing I can say. Oh boy, where to start here.... I'm a business traveler so I'm use to sleeping "other places" but for a Hampton Inn, I doubt the whole chain now. The second stars is for location only, nothing to do with any of the property. Ok, upon check in the desk guy said "you'll get a survey and if you give us all 10s you'll get X amount of rewards points". Really? I thought HI would want the truth? So the first room, open the door and at first I was overwhelmed by the stench of cover up stuff. I don't know if it was to cover up smoke or a dead body but I was waiting to hear stripper music. So as I venture in...the carpet was sticky....everywhere... How do you do that and why wasn't I invited?! Anyway I just couldn't stay there as I had a big meeting with a client the next morning and I couldn't smell like menthol, body spray and shame. So I get another room....another pimps pocket stench. I thought daddy was going to turn me out for some benji greens at any moment. Carpet, non sticky, don't trust it. The fridge was a York peppermint patty 72 deg. Hampton Inn, who is the corporate area manager here and how much time do they spend "hourly" in these rooms?! Anyway, needless to say after a through delousing when I get home I'll be staying elsewhere when I come to fabulous Waterbury CT. Maybe jail... Oh, dirty ice machine. That's part of my expertise. Out of the handful of hotels in this part of Connecticut, this one is a solid choice. I like Hampton Inns when I travel since they offer the essentials: free breakfast, free internet, clean room, above average bed and this location is no different. Room: Pretty Spacious and clean with a new TV. The bathroom was updated and the bed was super comfortable. The water got hot quickly, I had plenty of towels. Plenty of outlets to plug in all my gadgets. Facilities: they have a pool but it was pretty small; I never actually ended up using it. The wifi was great and parking was easy and free in their big lot. This Hampton offered more breakfast options than other Hamptons I've stayed in so that was good. Location: Technically in Waterbury, but on the city's western edge. It's convenient if you're visiting the area and it's right off I-84 so that's good. Not really any restaurants/shops nearby, you have to drive to a nearby town or hop on I-84 for a couple miles into downtown Waterbury. read more

No surprise here, all the services and amenities you would expect from an Hampton inn: - clean spacious rooms with coffee maker, fridge, microwave - free wi-fi throughout the building - indoor pool - fitness center, a bit on the minimum but at least a couple of treadmills - business center meaning a free access computer and printer - and the usual breakfast: warm stuff, cereals, breads, fruits, yogurt... The location is on the west side of town with nothing nearby so you'll have to get back in the car for food. But the place is quiet so you'll get a good night of sleep. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Overall a sure and good bet for families or business travelers. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. So angry. I showed up today (5/10/21) around 5:30 pm to check into our room. Upon getting there, we were told by the front desk clerk, Gabriel, that our room had not been cleaned and that the cleaning staff had already left for the day meaning the room was unavailable. We asked what they were gonna do about it. All Gabriel did was tell us there was nothing he could do and that he was sorry. After MULTIPLE calls with corporate and speaking with the manager they are giving us a free room for tomorrow night but tonight we have to find another place to stay. I am NOT happy about our service at all and we will NOT be returning. Gabriel the front desk man was terrible and of no help. He said "I could clean it myself" and we said then do it and he replied "Oh no, it would take too long" (I am using exact quotes). I am completely shocked at our entire experience. I am quite shocked that they can't hire enough people to clean rooms when people in this country are unemployed and going hungry. read more

I stayed there this past weekend with my girlfriend for a baby shower and it was by far the worse. The "Manager on duty" yelled at me and told me "You have called me three times with the same issue and I cant do anything about it" and once I told her she was bad at customer service her response was "yea, well." We spoke to the manager about it and he added extra HH points, not sure what that means. But I am still so dissatisfied with the service and we will never go back for sure. read more

We really enjoyed our brief stay at this hotel. Ebony, the manager on duty the afternoon we checked in, was incredibly welcoming, and friendly.....what a great personality! I worked in hotel management for a number of years, and believe me I encountered plenty of mediocre front desk workers and managers on duty. Ebony made our short stay comfortable and pleasant. She was very helpful to THIS bedraggled couple after driving almost 1200 miles in two days! Ugh. As soon as I checked in the girl confirmed that I was staying in a SMOKING room...WHAT?! They still have smoking rooms?! I laughed and said no way! That is wrong. She changed my room and let me know that the hotel would be going under a renovation soon and getting rid of the rooms. Luckily, I didn't smell any smoke in my room, but the AWFUL, TERRIBLE sound machine outside my window which sounded like a mack truck was just the worst. It went off every 45 minutes and kept me awake most of the night, and i was on a business trip...when I called down to the front desk to let them know, all she said was, okay. This was the worst hampton inn I have ever stayed at...sorry Hampton Inn, you could do better than just a good breakfast. read more

This place sucks. We have been here every other Saturday for about a month and they serve kielbasa for breakfast each time. Beds are rock hard and they just renovated with new bathroom sinks but some idiot didn't design that right because water goes all over the counter. You have less than one inch from the counter to sink to rinse your hands and half the water goes on the sink and floor. Erica went out of her way to help us stay for 10 days and saved our vacation. Our room was clean and efficient. Breakfast is a little above average for this class of hotel. I don't know of ANY smoking allowed in the hotel. We never smelled it. read more

Most unaccommodating hotel I've ever dealt with. Reserve up to 40 rooms with them and they can't even promise an early check in for the bride's parents on the wedding date. Two weddings in six months and the same response to both so they are consistent in their service. read more

This hotel is cozy, but noisy. The exterior needs a makeover to match the newly updated rooms. The updates are nice with a few discrepancies. The outlets are the original, the bathroom faucet is too far back in sink....glue visible on floor from tile placement. Shower fixtures new except shower head and curtain rod which is rusted. They​ offer breakfast ..... Basic stuff very small. The coffee was the best item! Thank God. I booked with AARP & should have late check-out of 2pm. I was told they only go as far as 1230. Unacceptable! Good thing I won't be heading back this way. Oh another thing....when I booked, there was no mention of renovations on half the 3rd floor. BEDBUGS! DONT STAY HERE! I travel constantly for work and I have had bedbugs before at another Hilton property in Cincinnati, OH. At that Hilton property I was treated with respect and sincerity. They comp-ed my room, paid for a new carry-on, and gave me points. I never posted a bad review because they were professional and apologetic about the situation. Plus, I know I'm bound to run into this problem because I travel so frequently, so I try to be reasonable about it. However, the Hampton Inn in Waterbury should get a negative rating for their customer service. I found a bedbug in my sheets on the second night I was there at 9 PM. I put the bedbug in a tissue and took it to the front desk where the night person was working. She kept it for the general manager who would come in the next day. I also had about 7 bites pop up during the day, wondering what they were, so that was explained once I found the bedbug. The night shift woman was kind enough to give me plastic bags to bag my clothes and comp-ed my room for that evening only. I of course moved to another hotel for that night (had to wash all my clothes at midnight, missed half a day of work the next day dealing with this, etc). She told me to come back the following day to speak with the general manager who I assumed it would take care of my situation since she couldn't do much just being the night worker. The next day I came back and spoke with W. Paul Boyle, general manager. I asked him to comp my entire stay (they only comped the night I moved out, not the first night), pay for a new carry-on (which was only $80 from TJ Maxx), and give me some points. He refused to do all of these things saying he needed to submit an insurance claim and he would get back to me. I was shocked because my previous Hilton experience with bedbugs was handled with professional sincerity. I asked if he was serious and if he would rather receive a bad review. He looked at me with a smug smile and basically shrugged his shoulders saying there's nothing he could do to help me. I was livid! I have been a diamond member with Hilton for two years now and have never been treated this way. I told him it was bad business practice to let the situation go unhandled. He could have cared less. I left the property and proceeded to call the Hilton diamond desk where they basically took Mr. Boyle's side and said they couldn't do anything further to help me. To give him a chance, I waited a week to post this review but have yet to hear back from the Hampton Inn Waterbury or Hilton corporate. You would have thought they could have at least given me some points and a free night to rectify the situation but he not only refused, he was smug about it. Thus I am posting this review in hopes that no one else gets bedbugs. This could have all been avoided had they provided proper customer service like I received prior. I don't feel my request was unreasonable. All of my coworkers stay at Marriott properties and looks like I'll be switching to them too. read more

I have left verbal messages with the front desk and at least five voicemails on the managers line. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. We stayed here for a recent triathlon and had a really wonderful experience. The hotel was clean and all amenities were as expected. The rooms seem to be new, which is always a plus. What makes this hotel a 5 star is the fact that they put out their breakfast for all the triathletes at 4am instead of the usual 6am. This was a HUGE help considering most food establishments are not open at such an ungodly hour. Saved us a lot of race day stress. read more

This was an okay hotel. The rooms were nice. Furnishings were Hilton quality. The pool was a disaster. There was a crack in the ceiling and water was dripping out into the pool. It was raining so I am assuming it was something structural, but who knows? The next issue I had was the parking lot. This thing looked like the back alley of a horror film. There were very limited spots next to the building itself and the side lot had giant containers there... No lie, giant containers like you would see on a ship. This is probably due to it being built right next to the highway and having limited space parking. Not sure what the deal with the containers was. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rest of the hotel was a pleasure to visit. I missed both entrances to the the hotel my first time driving to it and missed the first entrance the next 2. There is overgrowth blocking the sign and both paved entrances, you won't know where it is until you are right in-front of it. If you are traveling to town and need a hotel in the area, this is one of the only ones you will find outside of Waterbury and it is still a Hilton. Hopefully the pool leak will be fixed soon and the containers will be removed from the parking lot, but boy was that first visit a strange one.. read more
