Both Melissa and Krista are great hygienists, thorough, knowledgeable and gentle. Dentists seem okay, but have never needed any dental work, so can't say for sure. Dr. Gleckner has a great personality and Dr. Carlson is his total opposite - very quiet and serious. Front office needs some help. Billing office needs some help. Difficult to get someone to answer the phone and to get a call back. You can do better! read more

After having a few dentists here in Bluffton that disappointed me, I was pleasantly pleased with my full experience at Hampton Lake Dental. Not only was Dr. Mark a joy, he made the experience relaxed and easy. I needed two cavities taken care of. No time wasted after the dental assistant took a couple of x-rays he came right in and got right to work after I approved the quote from his office assistant. And they take my dental insurance. X-rays and two fillings I was out of there in 45 minutes and he did a great job! read more

Office Experience... I am new to the area and finally found what I thought would be a good dental practice to go to. Also, needed someone that would take my insurance and do crowns for previously completed implants surgery on two teeth. When I called to make an appointment the scheduler said they were booked out for 6 months! And offer to find me another dental office that I thought was kind of strange, was on the phone with her for almost an hour! what a nightmare, very incompetent. Finally decided to check out the on line booking and turns out there was an opening on the next week. When I called the office to ask what dentist it would be and to check on the cost and if I could send the details to the via email... the person that answered the phone seemed totally distracted and made me give her my email first, turns out I never got an email to be able to give the office my insurance and the details of what teeth I need the crowns for as well as details from the surgeon I who did the implants. Not only not being able to send information the person hung up on me!! How unprofessional and frustrating with the lack of service and Staff that is so incompetent. read more

Hampton Lake Dental Care is the absolute worst dental office I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. I asked for Dr. Carlson when scheduling, and waited several months for my appointment. The day of my appointment they stuck me with another dentist, and said that Dr. Carlson does not work on Wednesdays. The other dentist (Gleckner) told me that I needed two teeth crowned. I followed through with his advice, and requested to have them both done in one appointment. On all visits regarding this procedure, they thought they were doing one tooth only. I had to remind them at least three or four times that we were working on two teeth, not one. The entire time Dr. Gleckner was working on me he was talking with his assistant about golf and where he would like to relocate next, and not at all focusing upon the job at hand. Finally, when the crowns were in and I showed up for the final appointment, while reviewing my x-rays from my first visit, they found a massive cavity under a crown on a third tooth. Dr. Gleckner said that they did not know how he missed it on the initial evaluation. I pointed to the tooth in question to verify, Dr. Gleckner confirmed. I told him that the tooth was root canaled a year ago. He suggested I see the dentist who did the work. I drove four hours to see the previous dentist, only to be told that Dr. Gleckner confirmed the problem on the wrong tooth. I then called to speak to Dr Gleckner, only to be told that I had to schedule (and pay for) an appointment if I wished to discuss anything with him. I then found a competent dental office, but wound up losing the tooth due to the negligence of this office. read more

**Most painful and rough dental cleaning I've ever had in my life. 4 days later and I'm still in excruciating pain. Hygienist scraped off my enamel and caused further recession** First of all, I was supposed to be seen by Melissa. They put me with Kionna without my authorization or knowledge. I specially stated to her that I am looking for a hygienist who is gentle and understands someone with a severe dentist phobia and extremely sensitive teeth. She told me she has never been told she has a "heavy hand". Well, she does. The cleaning was the roughest and most painful I've ever had in my life. I told her to be gentle and she kept scraping off my enamel. Two days later and I am still in severe pain. I made an appointment with Melissa, but they put me with Kionna instead without my knowledge or authorization. Apparently, this has happened to other patients, as well. Additionally, this practice has a history of canceling or modifying patient appointments without their knowledge or authorization. Upon checkout, I overheard a patient who was very frustrated and upset because the office canceled her appointment without her knowledge or authorization. The lady at the front desk did an absolutely terrible job of diffusing the situation. The patient stated that she is frustrated because when the office called her to confirm her appointment she specially stated that she wanted to cancel. They threatened her and stated that they could not cancel so she would have to show up. She shows up for her appointment and they stated that it was canceled. She asked if she can still be seen today and the lady at the front desk stated, "I cannot physically move a patient from a chair". What an unacceptable thing to say. Not to mention the other lady helping me was laughing at the patient and looked at me for validation and approval. I just glared at her and looked away. Dr. Carlson is decent. I'm sure the man is knowledgeable, but failed to explain adequately. Bedside manner was decent enough. read more

My husband liked Dr Carlson and it isn't because of him we are giving the rating a two. The billing department was our first problem when the crown replacement was declined by the insurance at least 4 times and each time it was billed with the wrong code. My husband went in which we thought was a regular cleaning. without even asking us, it was a scaling and cleaning with a treatment wenever approved which cost $100 that we had to pay that day because they said it wasn't covered by insurance and now we have a bill for $58 and don't know if the insurance is paying at all for the cleaning because it was denied. Needless to say, we will never return to,Hampton Lakes dental. Additionally if the insurance doesn't pay for the other charges, we will file a complaint to the State Dental Board. read more

I am new to the area, and I was nervous to try out a new dental office, but I asked around and heard good things about this one. I called to make an appointment as a new patient and they were so kind and friendly through the whole process of sorting through insurance and scheduling, etc. When I went in for my appointment the first thing I noticed was how beautiful and clean it looked, and the receptionists were all so welcoming and helpful. When the dental hygienist, Jenequa, was so sweet and engaging, just a great person to be around. On top of that, she was extremely thorough with everything that she did, and she listened to all of my concerns and discussed them with me. The entire process of x-rays and the initial examination were so pleasant and she communicated everything to me as she was doing it, which showed me how knowledgeable she was and I could tell that she really enjoys her job which is so nice to see. Dr. Callejo was also super pleasant and she was very direct and to the point which I love. Everyone was so communicative and kind, I would recommend this place to everyone! read more

Changed my dentist because they stopped taking my dental insurance and Hampton Lake Dental did accept it. It's very convenient to my home and they do have excellent equipment. Dr, Callejo was very good as a dentist and I liked the dental hygienist very much. My problem is with their billing and repayment of claims. I knew and told the benefits woman that they were overcharging me by a lot of money. My insurance company has paid them and I am due $851 back from my initial payment. It has been over 4 months and even with repeated inquiries I have not been reimbursed. Legal action may be needed. read more
