Got my car towed from one mechanic to this mechanic because the first one's fix didn't work and…read morethey don't do transmission work. The tow truck took a long time. Eagle was aware that it should have arrived, and the shop owner took the initiative to call me to check on the status before closing shop. Thankfully Eagle has a key drop, so the tow arriving after hours was fine. They must have looked my car over immediately the next day, because diagnostics were done quickly and I got a call early that morning. They kept me in the loop about the repair, explained what they were doing and why, answered the phone consistently to answer follow up questions I had, and went even more into detail about the repair when I arrived and asked additional questions about the mechanics of it. Just like a doctor who answers your questions, a mechanic who does the same helps put you at ease. It wasn't cheap (& what transmission work is?), but it was incredibly fast and I had my car back and repaired the same day diagnostics were run. Plus, the parts & labor came with a 1-year/12,000 mile warranty.

I brought my 2011 Ranger in, they were able to diagnose a substantial fluid leak and gave a very reasonable estimate. Not the "you need a new transmission" estimate that I was expecting. I called all of my usual places I go for lubes/filters ... Minute lube, Mister Sunshine, etc. Just looking to find someone to simply drain and fill my transmission, but also change the filter. I was told it would be $99 for a drain and fill, but no new filter. As none of my usual stops could do it ... I asked them who would be a good suggestion. They said "Transmission Shop"? Okay. So I went to Yelp and looked up Transmission shops in Round Rock. Called the first one Yelp recommended which was A Plus Transmissions. They asked a few questions and I told them what I wanted. They said they would gladly do it and scheduled me for the next morning at 11 am. Nice thing was, they are only charging $19.99 and 22 point check. WOW!!! They were so nice and walked us through what they were going to do and estimated time. They were off on the time, but for the cost ... I was thrilled! An hour and a half later we were on the road and the Blazer was driving like it was supposed to again. These folks took the proper amount of time to review my vehicle and even let me know what other codes my Blazer was showing so I could take it to my mechanic. Very professional and really nice folks.

In regard to your response Frank I'll expose again why no one should use you. To start I used you…read moreafter the break issue we resolved to give you a shot. I bring up that brake issue because it eventually became a pattern of dropping the ball, and repeated issues 1. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.

While I didn't have a code yet, I suspected that it was a possibility. Anyway, Aplus took the time to do a full 22 point inspection and test drive. They actually got a code. Their solution was to 1) do a fluid change but cautioned it could make things worse and likely would not fix the issue. 2) offered a $595 break down to tear transmission down to give an estimate. And if I didn't like that estimate they would put it all back together. Considering this truck has 170k miles and is a 2004, i was hesitant spending that $. I worked with Jackson to get a high level estimate. He was confident it could be rebuilt for $3200 or below and worked a deal to honor that price. Anyway, they ended up giving me a bit of a discount to meet that price for the rebuild. Time will tell one the transmission, but I suspect it will outlive the engine. Only time will tell. It does come with a warranty but I don't drive that truck a lot so we shall see. Communication was great. And so far, works seems legit. Did I make a smart decision to spend that kind of money on an old truck? Probably not, but decide that path because I bought it new.
