I had done some work on my suspension including replacing the axle assembly, and still experienced some movement on the passenger side suspension when braking. I feared I had caused some problems with the transmission when I did the axle install, so I took it here to see if they could check. They did a 22 point inspection, including the suspension and pinpointed where the actual problem was, and (thankfully!) it wasn't the transmission, but the lower control arm on the passenger side. Wish I could give no stars! These guys act like they are willing to correct mistakes then refuse to answer. If you want a shop to ghost you when they get their backs against the wall this is perfect shop for you. I had to send an employee to Austin for work in a company vehicle, while he was there the transmission went out and A+ was the shop we selected to replace the transmission to get him home. When completed the total invoice was $6,600. After doing the work and getting the vehicle back to MS, within a week the transmission goes out again. We immediately contacted A+ to figure out how they would fix the mistake and they gave us 2 options at first. 1) Tow the vehicle the 12 hour trip to get it back to them, 2) Have a local shop pull all the parts out, ship the parts to them, then A+ would ship back to us for local shop to do the repair. Both of these options would be additional expense to me as the owner and were not reasonable. Next option, we found a shop in Jackson, MS within a 2 hr trip from our hometown that was certified to do warranty work and A+ agreed that if got the vehicle towed to that shop they would cover the work. We thought everything was solved. Once work was completed the shop in Jackson, MS sends the invoice to A+ and they refuse to pay for the work. They did offer to donate the parts, but have yet to do anything else about the additional $1600 repair. After going back and forth with them they have decided to ghost our calls and will not communicate with us and refuse to stand behind their work. If you read other comments this seems to be a pattern with A+ not taking care of customers and ghosting them when things get difficult. read more

Zero stars if I could. I wouldn't recommend this place. We went in and wanted to make sure that our transmission was the problem for our intermittent shaking we felt in our SUV. So we had them do a 22 point inspection and they gave us a quote of around $4500 and we said that we would return after we gathered all of the money but before we could leave, our car wouldn't engage into any gear. We asked Jackson, why this was happening and every answer we got was a guess. So, we figured that we couldn't drive it like this, so we opted for them to fix it and charge it on our credit card. A few days later, we got a new estimate for over $7000. Why? Because, there's an estimate of over 6 month waiting list for a remanufactured one, so you'll have to get a new one installed instead. After all this, we cancelled the fix and had to pay $585 for what ever work they started to do, which didn't fix anything, which isn't okay. This business are suppose to be experts at transmissions and should know costs for their field. For this reason, I didn't expect a higher quote after the first quote of $4500. In conclusion, I'll definitely not be returning or recommending this business to anyone. Right now, we're living pay check to pay check and it's not easy having to charge $585 on our credit card and giving it away for absolutely nothing. Integrity goes a long way. read more

I'm so impressed with this business. Norman, the co-owner, listened to my issue with the car. I was thinking that replacing the transmission was a foregone conclusion. Norman asked me to leave him the car overnight to hear for the noise. Well, they discovered that the transmission oil pan must've hit something on the road and it caused the transmission filter to collapse inside the pan. $175 for the labor to diagnose the problem, fix the pan, refill the transmission with oil and put it back together. Made my year because replacing a Lexus tranny is easily $3500. Hope this is the last I hear about my transmission in a long while. Thanks A+! read more

A week before a planned vacation my torque converter went out in my 2500 Ram Turbo Diesel. I made Scott aware of my situation and he was able to get me back on the road in time for my vacation. They got my transmission dropped and went over / showed me any parts that needed to be replaced. You can tell the techs in the shop knew what they were doing and Scott provided photos of repairs all along the way. I was nervous as anyone would be pulling a 16,000lbs fifth wheel trailer across 3 states with a truck right out of the transmission shop but I'm happy to report it stood up to the test and got me there and back with no issues. It kept temp, had good torque and is still running strong. Transmissions aren't cheap to fix. You read horror stories about peoples experiences with transmissions shops but I now have full confidence in Scott and the Techs at A Plus Transmission Specialist. Got a second opinion from Norman at A Plus - he figured out that there was nothing wrong with the transmission at all, it was just a failing engine mount. He tried several different aftermarket and factory-original engine mounts until he found one that worked and resolved our problem. Was having an intermittent issue with my truck and the local shop said my transmission was bad (215k miles) and recommended Aplus in Cedar Park. I had the truck towed over and Chris the manager was able to diagnose it quickly and rebuilt the transmission at a very affordable price. Afterwards while test driving the truck, he noticed another issue with the fuel system. I too had noticed this problem and had been chasing it for a while before my transmission quit on me. Chris quoted a very reasonable charge for labor and parts and replaced the fuel pump. I picked up the truck and after a few days noticed a small issue persisting with the fuel system. I contacted Chris to let him know and he told me to bring it back when I had a chance. I dropped it off the next day and he jumped right on the issue and replaced the faulty pump right away! A Plus Transmissions came highly recommended from the shop I usually go to when my wife's '04 Taurus decided to eat its transmission. The tow truck dropped it off on a Thursday afternoon after business hours, and they called me upon opening the next morning to tell me that they had received it and would take a look that day. Later, the manager Ike gave me a call and told me that it's going to need a rebuild as there were metal flakes in the pan. I had suspected as much, but he confirmed. The price was definitely in line with what I was expecting so I have no complaints on the pricing. The car wasn't worth the repair bill, so we sold it to a junkyard and bought a new truck. Ike was extremely helpful throughout the entire process, and let us leave the car there for a week until the junkyard could dispatch a truck to pick it up. I am incredibly grateful for his hospitality as an extra tow to our apartment complex would have cost at least another $120. As we didn't have any actual work done I cannot comment on the quality, but they were so helpful throughout this process that I wouldn't hesitate to use them should I ever need transmission work done. read more

I first came to the shop two months ago and was given a strong referral which even led me to leave the current auto shop I was considering having my transmission repair done in November. After the installment, my first break down occurred on 12/23/19, my vehicle was not drivable and had to be towed back to the shop and the issue was due to the installment of the transmission causing a starter failure. I had plans to go to Houston for Christmas and missed out on some Christmas activities with my family. I was reassured that my car was then properly working which I trusted until the next breakdown of 1/2/20. I had to call off work and the manager, Ike, had informed me once it was in the shop that it had nothing to do with the transmission but he would double check the next day and give me a call the next morning. Around noon on 1/3/20 I received a call from Ike confirming the issue had nothing to do with the transmission and that he is putting it in the hands of the auto shop next door. The auto shop called me and told me that it was an issue with how the computer was installed. So consider this, after a double check from A+ Transmission (the ones who installed and are specialized in transmissions) didn't realize the mistake was on their end but another auto shop had to verify and make it known to me and Ike that it was indeed an error on A+ Transmission. This has been an absolute nightmare, I initially spent thousands solely because I trusted A+ Transmission and was given a great referral but now has ended up costing me several days lack of transportation, calling off work, missing monumental family events and I am unable to drive to my part time job because of errors that A+ Transmission has made installing it. It has only been two months and I've had two severe breakdowns and I no longer trust my transmission will be working fine. The most upsetting thing about this is the lack or sense of urgency from them. I have not been able to get in touch with the owner, Daniel Roberts, until today via e-mail who refuses to resolve any conflict.This is much more than just a routine transmission installation that failed, but TWO SEPARATE major issues with the installment causing my vehicle not to work due to shoddy workmanship. Work vehicle (Dodge 2500) check engine light came on, went off, then came on again a few days later. Went to Autozone to pull code; "transmission solenoid..." something or another. Ended up at 'A Plus Transmission Specialists' in Cedar Park, TX. They drove the vehicle and utilized a diagnostic computer to evaluate the transmission's performance. The check engine light had cleared earlier in the day and was driving fine with no issues as far as I could tell. My supervisor needed to take the truck on a long trip, so wanted to have it checked out prior to his departure. Ike M. at 'A Plus Transmission Specialists' understood our need for urgency and had the vehicle evaluated first thing in the morning. Ike called me immediately after the evaluation drive and suggested we wait to see if a problem develops further... as he had not found anything substantial during his evaluation drive. He did drop the pan to inspect the fluid & filters. He didn't even strongly recommend we flush the fluid. Basically said it looked pretty good, but it's generally a good idea to flush per manufacturer's recommendation. So, for less than the cost of an oil change, we had the transmission fluid flushed and the filters changed. I'm VERY pleased with the level of professional and fast service we received. Also, it's nice to encounter a mechanic who could have recommended unnecessary parts/services, but instead, operated honestly and ethically. Our vehicle has been operating perfectly since the visit. Around November of last year, my radiator cracked and transmission fluid mixed with coolant on my Nissan Frontier. I took my truck to the Cedar Park location of A+ and they replaced my radiator and transmission. When they were hooking everything back up, they used the incorrect O-rings on my AC going into my condenser, which caused Freon to leak, making my AC useless. Luckily, this happened in the wintertime so I wasn't using my AC much. But as it started to get hotter recently, I decided it was time to fix it up. Sure enough, I put dye in the system and it leaked in all of the spots that they would have to remove and reinstall to get the radiator in and out. The O-Rings they used look NOTHING like any other AC O-ring I have ever seen before. They aren't rounded on the edges, just flat. They are also the exact same diameter as the tubes they are supposed to be sealing, maybe even smaller. This lack of attention to detail makes me worry about the integrity of the work they did inside my transmission. For the amount of money I paid them to fix my truck, they could have at least put the right seals in my AC system. These $2 a piece parts have cost me a lot of time, energy, and money. If I could give 0 stars, I would. If you need transmission work done, get it done somewhere else. read more
