The Marriott was further away, the rate was $143 per night, and that hotel had no vacancies. I then found the Harmony House Motel where the rate was $55 through booking.com. I went ahead and booked a room...and then discovered a number of very negative online reviews. I called the hotel and expressed my concerns. The clerk assured me that my room would be clean and comfortable. After driving in from the Detroit suburbs, I checked in and Cheryl accompanied me to my room. As promised, the hotel was well maintained both outside and in, and the room was as she described. Another plus is that my car is only 30 feet from my room. This hotel is not the Taj Mahal and it's not in a prosperous area but the people who run it take pride in what they provide and it shows. The staff were very kind and made an extra effort to make my stay a pleasant one. For this reason, I am giving Harmony House a five star rating.

The staff is extremely friendly. The rooms are clean comfortable, and well maintained. They may not have wifi but they do have satellite TV with so many channels you can't possibly keep up. The motels located close to everything, such as a McDonalds and a Happy's pizza right across the street as well as grocery stores and right near bus lines. It's less than half a mile from the downtown district which is a beautiful place to go visit, or just walk down to the river. Everything is so close it's just a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beautiful city of Ypsilanti. I personally love the motel. They have daily, as well as weekly rates. I'm taking advantage of the weekly rates, so far we've been here for 3 weeks are planning on staying longer. Thanks to everyone not only here at the motel but in this wonderful city we are going to look for a place to live and stay here. Don't think you can say anything better about a place then that. So I personally thank the people of Harmony House Motel. You made this a home!

But it's a quaint little town with a cafe, a couple of antique shops, an animal shelter, some houses, and this motel. The motel itself is rather old it seems, but it is very well maintained and continuously upgraded. The bathroom of my room was completely new and the heater was replaced while I was staying there. I stayed there for 4 weeks and I never had any problems. The lady who runs it is extremely nice, friendly, and helpful...though a little weird. Sh provided a mini-fridge, cleans the rooms, and generally makes sure your stay is comfortable. It's convenient to lots of places because it's not far from Ford Road, 23, and 14. It took me about 15 minutes to get to downtown Ann Arbor. There are super markets and other such things just down Plymouth road at Green Road, so even though it's in the middle of nowhere it's actually close to everything. I would definitely stay here again if I need to stay around Ann Arbor for a few weeks again. Nothing fancy, but everything I needed (accept internet, and the cell phone signal was sketchy sometimes).

However, within the hotel, there were some issues... The room was dark like there were lamps, but it still felt very dark. The room was extremely clean however there were some stains on the sheets during a really heavy rain storm. We were laying down when all of a sudden there was a knock on the door. It was the maintenance man. He asked if he could come into the room and check and see if there was a leak. I was not dressed properly and I said I'll check. I will check the bathroom and I checked the window and I didn't see anything. A few moments later, we received a call from the front desk demanding that they enter the room once again, I was not dressed properly nor was anyone in my party. We found a male in our party to come up to the room to which they entered with the male present and noticed that there was in fact water on the carpet by the window. This water had caused a leak into the room below ours from the intense rainstorm. I'd like to note throughout this entire process a refund was never offered. An apology was given for having to enter our room so abruptly, however a refund was never offered. As a female traveler who often travels alone. I was very disappointed that the front desk staff didn't understand why I didn't want a mysterious person entering my room. Because of the wet floor, we were never offered a refund. We were never offered anything complementary which really disappointed me as a Hilton rewards member. Overall, besides this experience, they have a complementary free breakfast, but I was just disappointed in the lack of apology or compensation following this experience. I hope the people below us receive from form of room change or compensation as their rule receive the The leak do the intense rain storm. I guess I should also mention there is a fitness center. There are computers with printing access and Internet and there is a swimming pool. There are also meeting rooms and a bar.
