Han Kalguksu located along Yonge St. near Byng Ave in the Willowdale neighbourhood serves up handmade Korean noodles and dumplings in a casual atmosphere. The shop is able to accommodate up to 40 customers where the washrooms are not accessible (they are located downstairs where you need to walk downstairs). The entrance of the shop also has 2 doors where you also have to walk up 2 steps in order to access the door. They also have a small patio at the front for when the weather is nicer. Menu wise, there are a variety of kalguksu dishes including the classic kalguksu, beef, chicken, jjampng, bibim, and spicy mala. In regards to dumplings they have homemade king-sized steamed dumplings as well as a kimchi dumpling too. They also have bossam, spicy pork or bulgogi rice bowls, as well as stir-fried squid, potato pancakes, as well as pork cutlet. They also sell alcohol as well. My friend and I stopped by Han Kalguksu on a Sunday for lunch around 11:45am. The place got busier the later we stayed there where by the time we finished eating an hour later, there were customers waiting. Service was friendly and efficient. Food came at a reasonable time once we ordered. In terms of food, we shared the following items: - Han kalguksu (Korean beef noodle soup with handmade noodles, beef and vegetables) - $12.99 - King-sized dumpling (6 pieces - housemade king-size dumplings made with thin dough and generously filled with our signature ingredients) - $15.99 Portions were great and the dumplings were massive! The noodles had a great texture, and a nice bounce. The broth the noodles came in was comforting and tasted great. In terms of the dumplings, they were stuffed with lots of chives and meat. The kimchi that came with the noodles and kimchi was nice and garlicy, which I prefer so I thorougly enjoyed the kimchi. Overall, a great place for kalguksu and dumplings in the Willowdale area!

This place is new to the neighbourhood. Right off the bat when entering you are embraced by the smell of bleach. They clean their tables with bleach, and they do such a great job you can no longer smell the food. The soup for the Tteok-Guk was boring, it was extremely mild flavoured. The pork cutlet was huge! They are not joking when they say king sized. However there is way too much sauce, makes the cutlet soggy as there is no way to eat such a large portion quick enough to keep it crispy. The standout are the dumplings. Made fresh in house (they were making them at the next table over). Great to share, and very tasty. Overall the food is okay, I wouldn't return.

I stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy, but it started to fill up around 7pm when I was leaving. I ordered the gamja jeon (potato pancake) and sogoji (beef brisket) kalguksu. Kalguksu is a hand-pulled noodle soup and you can tell everything is made fresh and by hand here. The jeon was SO good, perfect if you love potatoes. It was crispy from being pan-fried but a little chewy (in a good way), too. The kalguksu was delicious. The broth was rich, and I added some gochujang for an extra kick. The kimchi banchan is nice and spicy, too. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt and efficient. Highly recommend this place!

Han Kalguksu is brand new to the neighbourhood. The King-Size Pork Cuttlet Crispy, deep-fried pork cutlet served in an extra-large portion with rich house-made sauce tasted better than some restaurant that sells exclusively cutlet. The homemade sauce was just right and it wasn't too greasy. Gamja-jeon Crispy Korean-style potato pancake made from freshly grated potatoes. It was nice and big, chewy in texture. The sauce on the side was so good. I dunked my dumplings in there as well! Mandu-Guk-A traditional Korean dumpling soup served in a clear, light broth with handmade dumplings. Some nights are pork fillings, tonight the fillings is beef and hand made in house. They are huge! Overall all service was amazing, friendly and attentive. The ambiance is simple, clean and relaxing! I will be back to try other items!

This is a fairly new Kalguksu restaurant in North York and I really enjoyed the food here. They make their own mandu dumplings so we tried the kimchi ones and they were spicy but good! The skin was thin and the filling was juicy. The kalguksu was also decent and the noodles were chewy. I would say the prices are pretty competitive especially for the area.

    Chicken and beef kalguksu.

Cold noodle is good, nice noodles but the beef is the toughest I have ever had. I had the chicken kalguksu and my friend had the beef kalgusku. The chicken soup was very plain but the beef soup was even worse it "tasted like water" according to my friend. The kimchi is good, and the staff service is good. You can come here for the cold noodle on a hot day, but I don't recommend getting the kalguksu.

You walk up a goldcolored hallway and 2 flights of stairs before reaching the restaurant. The host stand is farther inside.....which will make sense once you are physically in the space. The workers were very friendly and funny. I had a great time bantering with them. My friend from 8th grade and I reunited for the first time in 21 years over dinner. This was one of her picks, and I am deeply grateful she chose it. Appetizers: Rock Shrimp, Fatty Tuna Nigiri, Crispy Rice Tuna Entrée: Jidori Chicken Drinks: Sangria, Champagne Dessert: Yuzu Citrus The rock shrimp was delicious. We loved the sauce it was tossed in. My friend is not usually a shrimp fan but she polished it off for me. The fatty tuna nigiri was great, as expected, and the crispy rice tuna was phenomenal. The Jidori chicken was delightful. We loved the sauce, and the mashed potatoes were pillowy. I did not have the sangria but my friend said it was the best she had ever had. The yuzu citrus dessert came with strawberry gelato and cookie crumbs. The gelato was not overly sweet and the yuzu was perfectly tart. They also put a little "Reunited" note on the dessert plate, which we both thought was such a sweet touch. Definitely pricey, but definitely worth it. Recommended it to my Toronto friends, I really want to go back and get that king crab rice.

The staff helped us through the menu and gave us recommendations, and was so kind and fun to chat with! I had gotten the chicken katsu and my friend the beef tartar bibimbap. Both came with amazing portions and we had food to spare. The katsu was perfectly crispy, and the house made sauce was perfectly seasoned and amazing! It also came with apples and salad on the side which was a perfect pallet cleanser. The bibimbap had a great variety of toppings and everything was seasoned well. When thoroughly mixed, everything bite had a bit of everything and it was delicious. On top of the food u get when you order, the meal also comes with 6 different sides. There was 3 different kimchi, braised potatoes and 2 others that I'm not sure what they are, but they were delicious. My favourite was the potatoes and kimchi! Overall this is an amazing place to bring those close to you for delicious korean food!

Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
