I ended up ordering the sushi and sashimi dinner ($38). The included miso soup was served in a fancy cup and it was just as good! The seaweed was very fresh and the soup was very smooth and delicious! Sushi tasted fresh and the rice was seasoned well! Very good sushi! Service speed seemed average. Two weeks ago, my fiancé and I finally had the opportunity to visit the highly anticipated Asian restaurant everyone has been talking about--Han Tang Palace. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the excitement was well deserved. As you approach the entrance, it feels as though you're stepping into a portal to another continent. Once inside, you're immediately surrounded by exquisitely curated décor that evokes the elegance of both Japanese and Chinese design. The atmosphere is serene and captivating, with stunning artwork, ornate wood detailing, and dazzling chandeliers that create an almost enchanting ambiance. Even the restrooms continue this artistic theme, a thoughtful touch that speaks volumes about the restaurant's attention to detail. Parking is plentiful, though I imagine it fills quickly given how popular this destination already seems--and for good reason. They are also building a big patio outside that will yield more dining experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Every staff member was attentive and welcoming, and the owner himself made a point to visit each table and the bar, ensuring guests were satisfied and offering thoughtful recommendations. This level of personal engagement truly elevated the experience. We were seated promptly, and our waitress, Johana, greeted us with warm towels for hand cleansing--an elegant detail rarely seen at restaurants in the area and one we immediately appreciated. The menu itself is impressive and extensive, making it difficult to choose just one dish. Fortunately, Han Tang Palace offers a prix fixe option at two price points, allowing guests to select three courses--salad or soup, an appetizer, and a main entrée--from curated menus. My fiancé and I both chose the $50 prix fixe option, fully aware that finishing everything might be a challenge. For appetizers, we shared the Crispy Shrimp Tacos, which delivered an impeccable balance of flavor and texture and disappeared from the table quickly. We also enjoyed the Avocado Salad and the Homemade Shrimp & Pork Wonton Soup. Portions were generous, presentation was striking, and each dish felt like a work of art. The salad featured nearly a full avocado, beautifully arranged, while the soup was delicately aromatic and deeply comforting. Despite the abundance, we couldn't help but enjoy every bite. We also ordered two portions of Pork Fried Dumplings, assuming one order wouldn't suffice--only to discover that each plate includes six large dumplings. Even after our eating enough of it, we still had plenty to take home. When it came time to choose our main courses, we opted for kitchen specialties rather than sushi, deciding we'd save that for our next visit. I ordered the Mongolian Lamb, which arrived presented on an elevated metal platter that looked as impressive as it tasted. The lamb was perfectly tender, paired with flavorful onions that retained just the right amount of bite. The portion was so substantial that I could only manage to eat a quarter of it. My fiancé selected Tides of Passion, a beautifully plated dish featuring perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops coated in a subtly sweet sauce. Once again, the portion was more than generous, and leftovers came home with us. To conclude the evening, our waitress carefully packed our remaining dishes and returned them in an elegant branded bag adorned with Asian-inspired artwork--another thoughtful finishing touch. We can't say enough about Han Tang Palace and the proof is that while still seated at our table, I was already making plans to return with family and friends after Easter. This place is just the exact same paling Tokyo- owned by the same person and with some fancier decor- same menu- but way more expensive for no reason and terrible service. Maybe it was because I went during the daytime and they did not feel the need to have staff. But our waitress was so so slow with everything. Prefer Peking over this. This is a very unexpected addition to the mystic dining scene! The menu is interesting and diverse, food is well prepared, wait staff and management are very attentive and the decor... awesome. When you step into the restaurant you definitely don't feel like you're in Connecticut any more. Really enjoyed what we tried and look forward to heading back for another meal. Downtown Mystic locals..finally got in car for the 5 minute drive and tried it!!! So glad we did. From gracious greetings to easy choice of tables ( outside under canopy on a nice eve!), warm finger towels and amazing choices on large menu we had a lovely date night! Loved that our bottle of wine was chilled & served in a saki sever ( new to us!) and unique serving pieces were used for each beautiful & delicious dish. We were seated right away as we had a reservation, but we were seated next to a table of four so close that it felt like we were part of their group and the woman was wearing heavy perfume which my husband is sensitive too, which made his meal very unpleasant from the beginning ...Waitress was very nice service was efficient, but we were there at 5 PM so the restaurant was not crowded yet. My husband ordered Peking duck which he has eaten at many different restaurants for over 30 years. The Peking duck was delivered in what looked like a small coffin, but was supposed to be a treasure chest, which was so big that it hardly fit on the very small table. My husband was very annoyed that he had to open up little drawers and the box to eat his dinner so he took the whole thing apart, and we asked the waitress to take the box away. Now we come to the duck. The pancakes were so thin you could see through them and were lined with paper dividers. My husband thought the paper divider was a pancake and tried to eat the paper!! the lighting is very dark in there, and his eyesight is not the best. After finally, figuring out that each pancake was divided by paper he proceeded to eat the paper thin pancakes, which hardly stayed together being as thin as they were, and the duck was definitely not a half a duck. It was a small breast cut up there were no wing no leg so if anything it was a quarter of a duck for $35. He was very disappointed in his meal. The rest of the food was good but overpriced. I had sesame chicken with four little pieces of broccoli. That's certainly something that you don't need to spare because it is cheap enough and would have made a difference in the plate. The food tasted good and the presentation overall except for the Peking duck was very nice a little bit over the top for everything and the prices reflected this.. The food was really no better than our local Chinese restaurant, except for the presentation being nicer and the place being newer and decorated better. Would I go again? probably not. Overpriced mediocre save the theatrics for Disneyland and make the food be the star. read more

Then we had chicken in mango sauce which was served in a hollowed out mango. very tasty and beautifully presented. The hibachi scallops in brown sauce was amazing. We were seated immediately in this intimate, Asian inspired restaurant and greeted by the most personable and upbeat server, Hannah. The restaurant is small (only 13 tables) with a full seated bar and dimly lit, which made it feel very comfortable and romantic. Hannah presented us with warm towels and water while the owner, Johnny, who also owns Peking Tokyo, served us 2 scallop, nori tacos. Incredible is an understatement for these tasty apps. We ordered the crab salad (Kani) and the peppered tuna with guacamole. I would've never ordered anything with guac, but wanted to try something different. Both were so delicious. We then ordered the Madai (Japanese Red Snapper) with Caviar and that literally was the most amazing fish I've ever had. We finished with 3 rolls, Crazy Tuna, Masons Island and the Kim and another glass of wine. The spicy tuna followed by a sip of delicious wine elevated the flavors to another level. We thought the atmosphere was nice and the drinks were good, although overpriced for what you got. After ordering our drinks it took over 25 minutes to get them. The service overall was slow and then the food was just okay. The biggest issue we had was that the food received didn't match the description of the menu. A vegetarian salad came with fish eggs on it. The menu listed the ingredients of the salad and then more came on top of it than what the menu stated. They did remake it for us and it was a good salad. The same thing happened with the Han Tang cauliflower. Mushrooms were added on top when there was nothing in the menu description, and the menu even had a picture of the cauliflower and doesn't show it topped with mushrooms. The sushi was good but again, expensive. Based on the slow service and the issues with the food, I'm not sure that we'll be back. read more
