    Kung Pao Chicken Gyoza

Let me start out with saying I can't speak about the ambiance because we didn't eat there in person. We got take out. My boyfriend picked up the food but he said the person giving him it was really nice so that's a plus! The good part - the food! This sushi was super yummy. We got 2 orders of the smoked salmon roll and added avocado to them (really recommend). Just so you know - it's because we usually get the "Alaskan roll" but around us (Norwich, CT) the Alaska roll has smoked salmon and avocado and more. Not sure why. But it's super different here. The fish tasted fresh and smoky but not so smoky you couldn't taste anything else. The veggies were fresh too. I will say that the rice was much softer than we're used to having? I'm not sure if it's always like that since this was our first time ordering here but it was definitely noticeably soft. So just be aware of that since I've never had my rice that mushy? It was still yummy - just threw us off. I do really really recommend the specialty Colorado Roll (chicken tempura, spicy tuna, spicy crab, eel sauce, sweet chili sauce, spicy Mayo, and "crunch"). It sounds like a lot and is a lot but it's so good! It was the star of the show even though we were just being experimental in ordering it. It had all the right things. Chicken and raw fish might seem weird but actually go for it if you have the money! (This one is pricy at around $18+tax). My boyfriend did enjoy his California roll but it was a normal one of course. And I really liked my sweet potato roll cause I love the crispy sweet salty flavors. If you haven't tried a sweet potato roll yet - you really gotta! Even if you're usually all in it for the fish! As an appetizer we got two orders of gyoza - one pork and one kung pao chicken. They were both really good. The kung Pao chicken was surprisingly delicious. I don't recommend the sauce they give you as it just tasted like soy sauce with garlic but honestly both gyozas stood out by themselves. Juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The kung Pao chicken one was the best and most fun gyoza I've had. It is savory and has a bit of a kick so there's a heads up if you're sensitive to spice. Altogether I'd give the place a 4.5. Minus .5 for the kinda mushy rice but good once you get past the texture differences! Sorry my photos are mostly in their takeout containers! We dug in super quickly haha.

Ok, I admit that I've only had takeout a couple of times and it's always some sort of poke bowl (poki bowl on the menu here). But, I've had several recently and these are just fresher and better! Everything in it is perfectly ripe (cukes, tomatoes, mango) and the shrimp and salmon were fresh and delicious, with a good amount in the bowl. The sauce is perfect and has a tiny kick to it, and you get extra on the side in case you want to add more (though I haven't needed to but appreciate that I can if I want to). Both times I ran in to pickup my food staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive. The inside is not fancy or anything but is comfortable and all you need when the food is that good! I'd rather the energy be put into my food than a place to look stunning then the food disappoint. So, I'll be back whenever I'm in the New London area looking for good sushi! I go visit my friend in New London every week or two, so they'll definitely see me again as I'm definitely impressed with the quality of the food! It's not the cheapest bowl I've had, but it's worth the extra money and the bowl is filled to the rim...you know, you get what you pay for! Oh, I also highly recommend adding Masago for an extra $3, so yummy!!!! Give me those fish eggs!!! =D

Stopped here after an afternoon of shopping. Was in the mood for some sushi. This place was good, not the best I have ever had, but they do have a great variety of sushi. The place was clean, the food was on our table quickly, and hit the spot for sushi.

The sushi itself was good. The chicken fried rice was terrible, really funky looking chicken. The customer service was poor. My coworker ordered from a different place up the street by mistake, I picked up. The workers talked to me like I was an idiot. They were very rude.

I'm actually quite disappointed in this place now. I went back and had tuna belly again, but ONE of the pieces was just a regular tuna slice. I didn't look at it closely, so I popped it in my mouth to savor the flavor, instead I got regular tuna taste. When I went back to look at the photos, that's when I noticed that it was a regular tuna slice. I should have complained then. But I was having a good time with my daughter. So instead I'm coming to write my review. I have posted the undated photos and video. You can compare the last photo of tuna belly and the one I had recently. Make sure you check your food before popping it in your mouth. I tend to forget when I'm eating my favorite kind of food.

I got the Salmon Poke Bowl and California roll. The Salmon Poke Bowl was AMAZING. Super fresh fruits and veggies, great rice, amazing portion and quality salmon. California roll was like grocery store sushi. Not great. But will forever return for the Poke bowl. Highly recommend!

We grabbed sushi takeout the other day. The online ordering was easy and the time estimate was spot on. The portions were great - sashimi was nice big slices and the maki rolls were large even pieces. I do wish the rice was less wet (boo - sushi rice is so important!) but, other than that, it was seasoned well. And, the fish is all there - you can actually see the yellowtail in my yellowtail roll. (Unlike my previous review at another place...) I'd try the place again if I was hankering for

Do not come here. Went because it had a better rating than the steakhouse up the street but I couldn't imagine that place possibly being any worse than this. Irregardless of the sushi being egregiously over priced, it was also terrible quality. The tune had the look, texture and flavor of pink foam. The shrimp tempura tasted like it was fried in old oil and was mushy. The ratio of rice to filling is terrible, it was more like eating a raw rice ball than eating sushi. It's not often that a place is terrible enough to motivate me to write a review but that place was

It was a bit above average for the area and prices were better than I've seen elsewhere. My husband and I dined in on a Saturday around 6 pm. The place was already slammed with online orders and it did not stop the entire hour or so we spent in the building. Everything is disposable even when dining in and eating out of styrofoam isn't my preference but ok. It's a small establishment and I would guess the overwhelming majority of their business comes through online ordering. So, order online rather than go in as there is no real ambiance. I tend to order pretty basic rolls and sashimi which I think really levels the playing field when it comes to sushi. So, my commentary on the sushi is just based on the quality of the fish. It was alright not particularly vibrant or fresh. But not bad either. The pieces of sashimi were literally the biggest I've ever seen. They were too big to comfortably one-bite. The spicy tuna roll was pretty good and didn't require soy sauce to make it palatable. The miso soup was also good. My husband loved their salad dressing. If we decide to order again I would skip the sashimi and probably order some à la cart nigiri to form my final opinion. The search for a truly killer sushi place around here continues.

This time we decided to get take out and eat at the house. We ordered online which was easy to navigate. We got pad Thai, Hong Kong noodles, two rolls and potstickers. They had a discount if you spent $60 you'll get 10% off. I went to pick up the food and it was ready when it say it would be. Inside was nicely decorated like the last time I been here. There was also plenty of seating. The host handed me the food and I was glad they separated the sushi from the hot food. We got home to eat dinner and I tried the pad Thai. I got level three and it was not spicy enough for me. Maybe next time I will get a 5. As far as the taste... there was no flavor and the noodles seem to a bit under cooked. I was expected that spicy, tamarin sour and sweet flavor that is normally in a Pad Thai but didn't get that. The potstickers and sushi were pretty good. Overall it was decent but could be better. No. Being located in Connecticut versus New Orleans, Georgia, Florida or Maryland does not give you a hall pass to sell over-priced seafood that is not up to edible standards/fresh. No crab seasoning dusting AT ALL. Crab was freezer burned with grit on the shell. I got the special sauce + the hottest level. Red water. So diluted and devoid of flavor. The "boil" was literally the consistency of water. That's not a boil. They likely have pots of unseasoned water that they ladle in the bag post steaming. So bland, zero love and not at all authentic. Also-- small russet potatoes were not cleaned prior to being cooked whole and are rigid/raw in the center. Over-cooked shrimp. Boil base has ZERO flavor and likely just MSG + coloring. Disrespectful. Wrong potatoes, wrong process, wrong chef, wrong seasonings, aged crab, wrong everything. My meal was 'to go'. If dined in?! Absolutely not. Nope. I would have left it on the table! Trust me-- I'm calling my bank and if they want to FaceTime the food in the trash... fine by me. I can't eat this. There is dirt in the sauce and all of the elements because they did not clean the crab, shrimp + potatoes. There were two rotten potatoes in my bag and freezer burned snow crab clusters... disgusting. Hit "The Boil" in NYC, "Juicy Crab" in MD-- even "Hook & Reel" in Orange, CT. That's where you get real Cajun flavor profiles and actual spice! This restaurant has zero business serving seafood boils. Really, really subpar.
