The staff were friendly and great. I ordered take out and just wasn't impressed with the food. The rice in the sushi was over powered with rice vinegar and the entire meal just wasn't as good as I was expecting. I will try dine in next time.

Koi has some of the best sushi I've had in Rhode Island. Very fresh, very diverse menu, very quick service. Good selection of imported and domestic beers. The ambiance leaves something to be desired but the booths are comfortable and the bar is lively. Highly recommend this spot for a quick, filling dinner. Takeout is also always prepared very well and travels nicely.

So delicious! I always get the bento box there because it's a great price for so much food, plus soup and salad! One of my favorite restaurants in Westerly!

Pretty good Japanese restaurant on Westerly's High St. It was a quiet day for lunch, just a few locals popping in for a bite and a drink, and so we had a restful and restorative meal. Service was prompt and polite. The sushi and sashimi were very good, nicely presented, and fresh. My wife's salmon teriyaki was well prepared and the accompanying fried rice was outstanding. My tempura nabi was tasty and hot, with thick slippery udon noodles, a clean-tasting broth, and a pair of crisp tempura ebi. A satisfying meal!

Come on Yelpers, 4.5 stars for Koi? It's hardly an impressive venue, that is until you start eating the food, which in my opinion merited 5 stars on both occasions. We opted for takeout, and candidly thought the food here was great! My co-diner said Koi's shumai was the best she's ever had and ordered it twice. We also tried the gyoza, fried rice, and sake don (salmon), miso soup and house salad. The sake don was excellent, a substantial portion of salmon sashimi, served over tasty rice, accompanied by nicely prepared miso soup, and a small house salad. The house salad was mainly lettuce, but the dressing was nicely done. Our orders were ready on time, nicely packaged and ready to go. We ate our dinners in the beautiful Wilcox Park, which is essentially behind the restaurant, and offers fountains, a large fishpond, perennial gardens, lovely paths, and mature trees. It's a gem of a little park which is adjacent to the library. If we lived in the area, Koi would be our go to place for sure!

I've never had a bad experience at koi, both dine and for take out. They have a wide variety of sushi choice and the flavor and freshness can't be beat in this area. Service is always top notch and they always treat my young son with kindness and patience. Located right in downtown westerly, it's a perfect stop!

After an evening of drinking wine we walked down the street to Koi. It was later in the evening so it wasn't busy at all and the service was really quick! Started with a Shrimp Tempura roll. A little on the smaller side than what we are accustomed to getting, but it was very good. I had the Shrimp and Chicken Hibachi that was served with Hibachi Soup, Salad and Fried Rice. Also had a side of Noodles because I just had to! Lol. Everything was very tasty!

In the mood to try a different spot in Westerly we ended up at Koi. It was later in the evening and we had no problem getting a table right away. The service was fast and friendly. We wanted to try out their sushi, so we ordered a shrimp tempura roll to start. It was very good, although a little smaller than other places. For dinner we both tried the shrimp and chicken hibachi. It came with the usual soup and salad. Everything was very good, with plenty left to take home. We would absolutely come back to Koi next time we are in the mood for sushi or hibachi in the area.

My kids loved the avocado and shrimp tempura rolls, which they both add so fast. My wife enjoys her scallops and ordered the scallon in black bean sauce. She said the scallop is fresh and tastes sweet. Couldn't help it but I did steal some of scallop and can confirm it was fresh and sweet. For a lunch special we ordered general tso and sesame chicken which were both crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated with a generous amount of sauce. The lunch special comes with a choice of soup. My kids chose the egg drop soup and I chose the hot and sour soup. Both soups were good. Why not 5 star? I thought the bathroom could use some improvement? At first my wife said it smelled like poop, and I really thought it was just her thinking that. Keep in mind that its 2 bathrooms, one for the ladies and one for the gents. When I stepped into the restroom for men, I immediately was overtaken by the smell of poop. They need to improve their ventilation system and also put in some air freshener. If it weren't for the bathroom issue, I'd definitely rate this place 5 stars. Food was amazing, would definitely come here again.

We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

The menu had a little bit of everything ranging from Thai to sushi to Vietnamese, a very fusion type feel to it. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. Three items were ordered and tried. They consisted of the sushi nachos ($14.95), bao buns with chicken katsu ($12.95) and the Mystic River roll ($19.95). The nachos had diced tuna, sliced avocado, Pico de Gallo, topped with spicy avocado sauce and tobiko and served over fried wonton skins. There was a nice portion here. I thought they were going to be small wontons, but this was a pleasant surprise. There was a great ratio of flavors, and I really enjoyed the small dicing of everything. The bao buns were topped with sliced cucumbers, spring onions, carrots, and some type of sweet hoisin sauce it appeared. The chicken was very crispy and tasty. The bun was okay. It was a little tough. I did enjoy the sweet factor from the sauce to pair with the hot and crunchy chicken. The Mystic River roll had tuna, salmon, mango, as well as avocado topped with spicy mayo and was wrapped in a rice wrapper. This was alright. There was a lot of mayo present, which took away from the fish flavor, but it still was not bad. The rice wrapper was an interesting choice, but overall, okay. Will I go back? Probably.

It was a bit above average for the area and prices were better than I've seen elsewhere. My husband and I dined in on a Saturday around 6 pm. The place was already slammed with online orders and it did not stop the entire hour or so we spent in the building. Everything is disposable even when dining in and eating out of styrofoam isn't my preference but ok. It's a small establishment and I would guess the overwhelming majority of their business comes through online ordering. So, order online rather than go in as there is no real ambiance. I tend to order pretty basic rolls and sashimi which I think really levels the playing field when it comes to sushi. So, my commentary on the sushi is just based on the quality of the fish. It was alright not particularly vibrant or fresh. But not bad either. The pieces of sashimi were literally the biggest I've ever seen. They were too big to comfortably one-bite. The spicy tuna roll was pretty good and didn't require soy sauce to make it palatable. The miso soup was also good. My husband loved their salad dressing. If we decide to order again I would skip the sashimi and probably order some à la cart nigiri to form my final opinion. The search for a truly killer sushi place around here continues.
