On a Sunday afternoon they were busier than I expected. They seemed to be short staffed. The wait for someone to take our order was longer than it should have been, and twice I had to flag down a staff member. The service was friendly, and they were doing their best. The sushi was good quality, but the rolls were on the small side. The miso soup was delicious, and a generous portion. The pork dumplings were crisp on the outside and the pork filling was flavorful. The fried ice cream was classic, and done just right, crisp fried dough on the outside, sweet vanilla ice cream in the inside. Delicious. Haven't had that in so long! We ordered take out, to the tune of $77.76, for 2 meals, 3 soups, 2 appetizers. (Transaction 2000028) First, I want to say that we have always had good food here, but they mixed up our soup order. We ordered 2 dumpling soups and we received 2 Miso soups. While ordering on my phone, I asked for crackers to go with our 3 soups and got one little package. The lettuce wraps (which are usually good), were tasteless. The Lo Mein was edible, but seemed to be a small portion compared to what they serve in-house. We were very disappointed. Do let the pictures fool you. This is not a hibachi restaurant. Oh they have a hibachi grill you just can't sit at it. They got rid of all Their tableside hibachi grills 6 years ago during covid. So we sat at a regular table. Was very disappointed in that. The food was good. It took a long time to get service. The waiter was Asian and not very friendly. Didn't tell us his name. Acted like everything was just business. Didn't ask if we were there for a birthday or anything. (We were there for a birthday) just very matter of fact. Not a real "friendly" type atmosphere. On a hot, humid summer night, some light and fresh sushi sounded like the right dinner choice. Hana is located in a strip mall, but has a very pleasant, calm decor with a centrally featured bar area. Service was friendly, and surprisingly quick despite the busy night with nearly all tables occupied. The gyoza were a nice starter, though the beef negimaki was a little tough and less successful. Very glad we drove to Hana from Portland for a quite excellent dinner. It was a Saturday evening, but we got a table right away and someone came over to get us set up really quickly. We ordered a sushi boat for two, which came with miso soup and salad and it was excellent, with sushi, sashimi and maki rolls all super fresh! Overall, our bill with tip was roughly 25-30 dollars less than it would have been in Portland. That is a big difference. 100% worth the trip. read more

So many different things on the menu to choose from here. My friend had the Princess roll and she loved it, it had shrimp tempura and lobster salad inside. Nice presentation also. I couldn't resist trying the drunken noodles as I'm a big Thai fan. It was good, it had all the right ingredients, but I think I'll stick to the Thai restaurants for that. They also didn't ask me how spicy I wanted it, and I like it hot hot hot. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes. Gone dramatically downhill. Haven't been in a few years and was very disappointed in the change. To start, orders came out at different times and one of our four orders was wrong. Got salmon and scallops instead of beef and scallops. So the two stars is for the fact they did quickly replace the incorrect dish. But they left the salmon for us and honestly I didn't think you could make salmon that bad. It was super thin and completely dried out. The rest of the food was the same. We are never disappointed when we stop in at Hana's in Windham ME for a quick bite of lunch or dinner. Service is fast and friendly with a wide variety of choices offered on the food and drink menus. For starters with our drinks we often order either the Ichiban or Sexy Salmon roll...both delish. Her fav entrees are Fried Dried Chicken or Beef and his the General Tsos Chicken.....BUT everything we have ever tried is good. I want to start this by saying I've been going to hana for years multiple times a month and order substantial amounts of food (and regularly tip up to 50% to pur wait staff). The last few times we've been in, it's been different. The young man that is on the wait staff regularly makes mistakes and rushes everyone out of his tables. He's not polite nor attentive to simple things such as additional drinks etc. The older woman on the wait staff is the only reason we continue to go. She is one of the sweetest, most authentic people you could meet. Today, we were going to a dinner with some family and put in an online order at 130 for pickup at 4. I walked in right at 4 and was told it would "be a few minutes" because they close from 3 to 4 for break. I watched them start adding things to my bag on the table, then other bags.... I watched other patrons come in, place to-go orders, and leave with them while I was still waiting for mine (which consisted of a few apps and 3 dinners). Others came and picked up orders, tables were served and I was still standing. 35 minutes after 4 I was finally given my order. No offer for any reimbursement (though I had paid my bill and tipped upon arrival). I did ask why I was able to select a pickup time they could not be completed by. I did ask why I hadn't been notified it was not possible. I did ask why everyone else was getting their orders and I was not. Alas, there were no answers. I called to speak to a manager. I was put on hold and hung up on. I called back and was offered a "20 dollar credit". I was very candid of often we are in and how disappointed I was. I did say I would be leaving reviews. And I did say a $20 credit would not compensate for something nearly 40 minutes late (soggy food, nothing hot, and items that had been sitting bagged for over 30 minutes). Completely unacceptable and really disappointing. They are the only place in the area with decent Asian food-- they don't have competition (their food isnt even great its just not terrible like some others). We decided to do a date night in Windham because.. why not! Took a drive out to Hana Asian Cuisine. The staff was nice and we were seated immediately. I wanted a sushi dinner for two so we ordered a reasonably priced sashimi / nigiri sushi dinner and sat on the same side of the booth while we watched America's Got Talent. All of a sudden a giant BOAT comes from behind us with a beautiful ice sculpture containing our dinner! Turns out one of the chefs was working on his presentations and ice work so we were guinea pigs for this beautiful sushi boat dinner. The sushi itself was good - definitely hit the spot and they were all so nice and accommodating. Will be back!! Our Christmas tradition! Who likes to cook on Christmas? Well, everyone (apparently), except my family and I. We love HIBACHI on Christmas. No, it's not the only time we go. It was a scoop of plain white rice, one piece of broccoli, one sweet potato slice, three shrimp for 10. The dipping sauce tasted like nothing.
