    Red Dragon Roll
    Ellen B.

I've eaten there two times now and felt that while there were aspects that were great, it was mostly just good. Great would definitely start with their green salad with miso dressing. This salad is big, full of fresh veggies, and had a delicious dressing. The sushi I've tried has been good. We very much enjoyed the red dragon roll off the special menu. The seafood was fresh. I had also tried the spicy scallop roll, which I did not care for as the scallop was raw. I'm used to cooked scallop in sushi, and the raw was not a good texture for me. The servers are great and attentive. It is in a beautiful new space on Route One in Falmouth with plenty of parking. We will definitely try it again.

This review is for their new location in Falmouth. I have missed this place since they have moved out of Portland. The prices did go up a little bit but it's a beautiful location. I got my two favorite rolls and they were just as good as they were in Portland. Overall one of my go to sushi places.

My husband's two rolls were great. I loved the miso soup, seafood salad, steamed veggies and Oyako don. Even had enough to bring half home.

The new Falmouth location is beautiful! Highly recommend! Food was very tasty and well priced! Service can be slow at times but they are very friendly. Highly recommend!

I really like Sapporo! It's a casual sushi restaurant with fresh fish, and a healthy assortment of classic sushi dishes, and plenty of options for vegetarians, fish lovers, and meat eaters alike. I ordered the chirashi (an assortment of sashimi atop a bed of rice) which comes with miso soup, and the shumai (small shrimp dumplings with a waterier, soy-like dipping sauce. Both were great. They have a great cocktail menu and sake as well. The interior is a bit outdated, hence the 4 star rating. However, I think it rivals Benkay in quality of sushi. Service is good, not great. Ideal spot right by the water, located centrally on Commercial.

Pretty solid place. Went here for sushi mainly (good, solid! Nothing crazy) but also got the noodles. Loved the udon but wasn't craaaazy about the choices of toppings. Waitresses were nice and we got to sit on the patio which was cute!

I treated myself after a personal win over anxiety. I've been here once before and had a mixed experience. This meal was somewhat better, though still flawed. Plum wine - fresh and fruity, perfect accompaniment for my food Shrimp and vegetable tempura - Tasty, but the batter was too oily, and the portion size was too small. Smoked sake (salmon) maki - It was okay, but nothing special. Unagi (freshwater eel) sashimi - The standout from my last meal, and my introduction to eel. It was excellent as expected. I've yet to have bad eel actually, and I guess now it's just a thing I love, and Sapporo's is up to the same standard as everywhere else I've tried it. Tempura cheesecake - AMAAZING, very rich, very filling. Damn, that's something else. Ricotta style cheesecake, inside the crunchy tempura shell, not oily like the app, just all out awesomeness. Service was friendly and attentive. I gather there was someone new learning the ropes, so like they didn't know some of the menu items. Also the soy sauce bottle was missing from my table, and my table was wobbly - minor things, but they affect the experience. Also I've decided to start giving an extra star just for being able to smell the ocean from the restaurant lol :)

Have been coming here for years. It is one of my husbands favorite Sushi spots. It's a great spot for drinks, just sitting and catching up and eating some great sushi or Japanese cuisine. They have a Sushi bar to see your sushi being created. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They close at 2 pm and reopen at 5 for dinner. My husband and I have been coming here for over 20 years it is one of our favorite stops in down town Portland and for Japanese food

The service was great! Very friendly staff. The sushi was good - I got the tiger roll and jalapeño roll and would recommend those

We originally want to go to the Vietnamese restaurant for a light dinner, but when we got there, seems it's not open, though yelp shows it's open. So we walk across the street to this Japanese restaurant. To our surprise, it's a quite big set up. Girlfriend ordered house salad, and i really want some cooked veggie, then i ask the waiter whether they can make a stirfry veggie for me as on the menu they only do stirfry noodle with veggie. He said yes! I'm pleased. It turns out great, has several different veggies, and really taste good. I'm pleased that we came over here!

I think the wine selections are also great prices without having a happy hour price tag so i went for a nice white to pair with my rolls. It was hard deciding which maki rolls to get, everything sounded amazing and the servers were great with answering any questions. I ended up going with the halibut, salmon teriyaki, and tuna mango. i wanted to try a variety and i think the prices are great for the quality and fun options you can get. The rolls are a great size so one person can definitely eat 3 of the regular size maki's like i did. I really like the bar seating so i could watch the magic happen while i relaxed and ate my rolls. I'm usually not a soy sauce person but there's is phenomenal and i'm not sure how they are doing that! It was cool to see Mr Tuna (the chef who started this place) behind the bar at noontime working! I always think that goes to show how passionate this place is with great leadership. Everything was so fresh and tasty. To end the server told me about the special toastie they had and i knew i had to try it. This was sourdough ice cream with a maple pecan crumble and wow!!!!!! I can't believe i almost skipped dessert here because that would have been a huge regret. It was so good with the crunchy sweet hawaiian roll and then the cold ice cream inside. I definitely recommend getting whatever special they have that day since it seems to be a fun spin on there original toasty. I actually can't wait to come back and try some other rolls, as it seems like they are always keeping up with what's fresh and what the chef wants to be creative with!

We rolled in and got a seat right away, which was awesome. The staff were friendly and helpful! As for the food - I'll start with the food stuff. The Tuna de Tigre was REALLY good!! And the ice cream toastie, which had been highly recommended, was very good and unique! As for the disappointing - my main complaint was with the sushi rolls... I was bothered that the sushi was essentially standard roll, one that I can get at other sushi restaurants, with a squirt of a sauce for an extra like 5 or 6 dollars. I always very disappointed with the tuna nachos. They sounded and looked appealing but lacked anything that really made me want to order them again. All in all, I liked it - but it left something to be desired in my opinion. I think going forward, Mr. Tuna will be reserved for Tuna de Tigre and Ice Cream Toasties (and the Handrolls form their food trucks at concerts and festivals)!

The braised and crisped pork belly (Buta No Kakuni) here was some of the best I have ever had. One of those "Holy sh*t" bites where you have to put your head down to process what just assaulted your taste buds. Perfectly rendered fat, good meat to fat ratio, super crisp outer exterior but not too much where it gets tough, the caramelized soy glaze to top it all off.. It was just so good. Also, getting a bite with the kewpie, pickled onion, and pork belly all in one shot is chefs kiss. It doesn't even need all the supporting characters, but it makes it that much better. Slightly overshadowed by the pork, I also got an onigiri. It was filled with chicken and chives. Overall I thought the onigiri was decent. Chicken and chive wouldn't be my top filling but it was tasty nonetheless and still worth trying! I like that they griddle it slightly to help it hold its structure instead of using a piece of nori.
