Decided to stop in for a late dinner after an outing in Portland, close to home and all that. We sat at the bar, which was perfect - friendly, warm atmosphere. We ordered four apps, pot stickers, chicken wings, egg roll and borek. They were all delis and we paired them with an Australian Gruner - it was all absolutely perfect. I had the pleasure of sharing a delicious meal here with about 20 friends from work. We came for a work outing on a week night, and it was no problem to accommodate our large group. We called ahead, and there was a large table in the back where we could all sit together. This menu has something for everybody. Many people loved the sushi rolls, and variety of flavors, and cooked/uncooked options. Others loved their hibachi and poke bowls. Everything was fresh and we all left feeling full and happy! Pro tip-the frozen boba teas make a great dessert for the ride home. I came in from Auburn, and enjoying the boba on the way home was awesome! The owners are sweet and the food is great. I can't say enough good things about this place. Especially if you're looking for a place for group outing. This is a solid choice for sushi in Freeport. I had unagi, which was pretty good. It's funny that they advertise tapas, which is a Spanish word. In that category, they do have a few things like tempura. I can't say this is better than other sushi I've had though. My wife got a vegetarian poke bowl, which had some kind of mystery fake meat on top, that was wet, overly sweet and not very good. The poke bowl seem adequate. The fried rice was standard. The service was subpar. Slow, non-attendant and did I say slow already? Getting the check, giving your credit card and then getting it back to sign ... was a 10-15 minute process. In downtown Freeport Ali is a great new sushi restaurant. Service was superb - the server was very helpful and anticipated a few needs very well. Most of my party is vegetarian, and the vegetarian maki selection really rocks. LOTS of options. My standard rolls were also well prepared, good quality fish. Aki Japanese Fusion is a welcome addition to Freeport! It's great to have another dinner or lunch option here. We stopped in on a Friday evening and found the service to be fast and efficient! We ordered some sushi, which was nicely prepared, fresh, and delicious! The bubble tea was also good and we enjoyed their seasonal flavors. For entrees, we ordered the udon noodles with steak and the kitchen hibachi with shrimp, which came with house soup and salad. The house salad was fresh and the homemade dressing was very ginger-forward, which we enjoyed. The miso soup was nice too. Both entrees were perfectly cooked with a nice amount of vegetables. The steak was tender and juicy and the shrimp was flavorful. This restaurant is run by the same family that previously had a sushi and hibachi restaurant in Brunswick. This seems like a nice location and we enjoyed the food, so we're looking forward to going back! read more

We had taken out from this restaurant once previously - on a whim. The Poké Bowls were very good. Decided to go and dine-in. Lovely spot, pleasant staff, and a nicely varied menu. Decided (once again) to go with Poké. Very nice presentation, beautifully stacked bowl with a generous mound of tuna. I noted that the tuna had been uniformly cubed into perfect-sized pieces. And - it was great! Definitely added Aki into our preferred rotation! read more

I am soo excited to have a new restaurant in Freeport that isn't New American/Pizza!! Aki, I'm rooting for you! This is a reboot of the very popular Brunswick Aki, same owners as Watami. Honestly super smart doing boba tea in Freeport too, for people to sip and stroll around with. The food is quite good, sushi is solid and they offer small plates from various cuisines. I'm particularly a fan of their lunch special and the poke bowl. Boba tea is also very solid, and it's pretty easy to just stop in and order at the counter. My only request... add a kids menu, please!! Granted my kid is happy to slam 4 tamago nigiri, haha. read more

On a very foggy Thursday night my friend and I ventured out for some sushi, and we ended up with a diverse and delicious meal. We started with classic drinks, an old fashion. It wasn't the best one I've ever had (regular maraschino cherry instead of a Luxardo, orange slice instead of a twisted orange peel, and regular ice chunks instead of one big cube), but we enjoyed the drinks none the less. We ordered a mix of appetizers and sushi. We started with the skillet quail eggs which were very good. Imagine a skillet with tiny circles for each tiny quail egg to cook individually with a savory dash of soy sauce, and some scallions. Some of the yolks were soft and some were hard. Each quail egg was easy to pick up with chop sticks right out of the little spot on the skillet. They were delicious! I like my yolks on the softer side..next time I'll ask them to under cook it a little because it continues to cook in the hot skillet at the table. We tried the pork boa bun...also good. The bun was a little damp...the bun stuck to my fingers when I picked it up, and the pork was a nice perfect size slab of seasoned pork belly. I think it could have used a bit more "crunch" of fresh veggies and fresh herbs, but again, enjoyed it despite it not being perfect. We then tried 3 sushi rolls...spicy tuna roll, spicy yellowtail roll, and eel avocado roll. All were respectable, fresh, exactly as described. We also tried to toro sashimi and scallop sashimi. Both were excellent. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive, and communicated very well. We were doing a lot of chatting, so she told us to use a signal of putting the menus on top of each other when we were ready to order. Same thing when she brought the check...we kept talking, and she suggested another signal, to keep the bill folder standing until we were ready to pay, at which time we should lay it down on the table. Very helpful! All in all, a nice meal. I will definitely go back. In fact, I already went back again...just 2 days later, on Saturday afternoon, to get bubble tea for my daughter and I. The front section of the restaurant is a bar, but family friendly, where people can order bubble tea to go. We had the Oreo brown sugar boba tea, and a regular brown sugar bubble tea. We both want to try the crystal brown sugar boba...so we did a mix of both, and neither of us loved the texture of the crystal brown sugar boba...like a gummy but with a bit of a crunch to it...a little odd. We both loved the brown sugar boba though. We will definitely do this again too! read more

Located on School Street in the longly vacant Mediterranean space. They now offer a boba menu which is great for shopping in Freeport or with your meal. They have a full service bar with nice bar seating area with yummy bowls (for 1 or 2), assorted beers, sakes, yummy cocktails, saketinis and a sake flight. They have a large amount of seating, sushi bar area and a large menu with hibachi offerings but no hibachi table. They offer Poke bowls, bao buns (lobster or pork belly) vegetarian options and lots of sushi offerings with the aptly named LLBean roll making a comeback. There is even a specially priced lunch menu. Great new sushi place. Everything was great- the vibes of the restaurant, the time it took for food, the prices, the temperature, the actual food, the service. Everything was great. The sushi was fresh and very tender without those annoying strings. The rice was warm underneath which showed how fresh. The chicken teriyaki was yummy. The boba is sooo good which was not expected at all. The tapioca is soft and the flavors are good! I got eggnog for the holiday. Miso soup came with my girlfriend's chicken teriyaki and our waitress was so kind she brought me a soup too so I wouldn't be alone! It was so darling. Great place all around. Very good food, but pricey. Ordered lunch combos and some poke bowls, and all were good.

From the moment we walked in until we left the experience was wonderful. We were met by a server who clearly loved the food and made awesome recommendations (try the dragon egg special!! Unreal!) we got a selection of maki and a couple of drinks and all were great! The bartender and her sister were just as lovely as our server and we felt welcomed, as if it were one of our hometown restaurants. We got spicy green beans to go and were thrilled with those too! We had an excellent experience last night at this new Japanese restaurant. Every single dish we tried was fantastic! The servers were so friendly and kind and the location had plenty of seating and was super clean! We started with the miso soup and salad. Both wonderful. If you like Asian Fusion, don't miss this restaurant. It is by far the best new addition to the greater Freeport restaurant scene in years, and although it has only been open for about a month as of this writing, it is already attracting a loyal following of locals (such as myself) and tourists. The food is amazing, the space is welcoming, the service is first class, the staff is like family (3 sisters), the Boba drinks are fun, the menu is extensive, but the reason I will be coming back here often is the food preparation--as good if not better than anything to be found in Asian Fusion or Japanese/Chinese restaurants in Portland, Portsmouth, or Boston.
