I want to like this place, however I just can't get past the RIDICULOUS prices here. A 6" houseplant is $65? I found an overgrown 4" for $11, which I could live with. The houseplants aren't rare in any way. I'm in the plant industry and I'm familiar with wholesale pricing. Their markup here is absolutely insane. I'm going to guess 3-5x what they pay. My hubby says "well it's Carmel Valley" Yeah Carmel Valley NOT Beverly Hills. read more

Total scam, they buy from local sources and raise the prices way over wholesale. I get it, over charge due to location. If thats the case pay more for your product. Amazing nursery with impressive selections of both indoor and outdoor plants, pottery, gardening supplies and accessories. They even had cute figurines for fairy garden. It's absolutely peaceful here and I can easily spend over an hour just walking around. I found some beautiful purple geraniums that I haven't seen before, and picked up some hard to find succulents to add to my collection. Wish I was able to get some houseplants too but not sure if they would survive our roadtrip. Overall, probably the largest and well stocked nursery I've visited to date! read more

Excellent nursery in the Carmel Valley. Visited this nursery with my wife and spent several hours wandering their grounds. It's a huge nursery with vegetables, fruit trees, California native plants, succulents, annuals, perennials, evergreen shrubs, and more. They had a large variety of pots and prices seemed fair. We're in the midst of planting a front yard garden and plan to get plants delivered from Griggs shortly. read more

After purchasing some mulch from Griggs that turned out to be rotten upon opening, I was hastled by the manager when trying to return within their 48 hour return policy. Deeply dissappointed as I had already spent several hundred on gardening supplies. The return policy is so strict and severe, I cannot recommend this place. read more

A dear friend passed away in Carmel a few days ago-I searched for a flower delivery service. He loved to garden so a flowering plant seemed appropo... I spoke to Cathy @ Griggs this Sunday morning-- She went above & beyond looking thru the nursery for plants with beautiful blooms. We settled on the perfect White Roses-lush w/ flowers... They wrapped the pot & added a straw bow-and my card-delivered it within a few hours (on a Sunday no less)! So happy with this nursery & service-thank you! read more

I would have never known of this place if it wasn't for a gift certificate. While the lady isn't fascinated with taking care of the various bits of nature alive in our home, I am actually quite obsessive about it. I love every thing to do with plants and trees and sometimes wish I had the time to just bonsai *EVERYTHING* and make a miniature Eden to inspire others about the beauty of creation. /pause & refocus Talking to a few people working here, the plants in the nursery will change according to the seasons. I'm currently interested in setting up different fruit trees in my backyard as well as some GARGANTUAN pines (buy small, smile as it grows big enough to build an ark) and the employees were extremely helpful in every manner. Why have a cafe in a garden centre ?... Back in the UK there's a garden centre called 'Hayes' in the Lake District (north of England). It's quite spectacular but used to bemuse me for this exact reason. why in the heck would anyone think a garden centre was a destination location ! Fast forward many years and we stumble on Griggs in Carmel valley on a sunny day and I could easily see the opportunity to open a little tea room there and wouldn't be surprised if they charged an entry fee just to soak in the spectacle. Suffice to say it was a vibrant and exciting and tingled the senses. It seems silly to recommend a trip to a garden centre but I'd bet this is one will lower the blood pressure, relax those aches and pains in your shoulders and make you appreciate all that is fine with Mother Nature..OK, mock me now but if you get down to Carmel, take the 5 minute drive out into the valley and see it soon ! read more

I just loved this place! Be ready to spend some time here in the great assortment of plants and garden decor. Plenty of ground cover flats, succulents of all sizes, etc. so you could easily see what the plant will look like when mature. lots of push carts available. I didn't see many rose options so maybe I was off season? However I still managed to fill up my SUV. Three months later, all my plants are still looking healthy. read more

I purchased several plants about 1 month ago. Spent a total of $200.00 on house plants and organic thyme, rosemarry and peppermint. Within a few days noticed a ton of bugs that came from the nursery all over the plants I had just purchased. I am very religious when it comes to feeding them and taking care of them, that being said I was shocked when I noticed them dying off quickly. I called the nursery about a month after I purchased them and spoke to Raul on the phone, he was very stern and said they had a 48 hour return policy! I am very upset and wish I had never thrown my money away at this dump. THE HOME DEPOT AND LOWES BOTH HAVE A 1 YEAR RETURN POLICY ON ALL OF THEIR PLANTS, AND THEY DONT COME INFECTED WITH A TON OF BUGS AND INSECTS. read more

I LOVE visiting Griggs! The nursery always feels super peaceful and their selection of flowers, plants, trees, etc is huge! Griggs Nursery isn't just your Bogienvia and roses there is something in this beautiful nursery for everyone, the serious Gardener the landscaper the perennials the annuals even little fairy gardens. Griggs has fruit trees, hostas, ground cover, privet trees, and just about all shrubbery. Japanese Maples, and you can pick out all the vegie beginners, to get your sustainable garden started, please bring your family you'll can start a tradition by creating Fairy Gardens, and trust me they have what it takes to feed your fancy. Life under the roof, is here as well, enter the Griggs Hosta house, and you'll find variegated plants, bamboo, starters, hostas, small ornate pots, Violas, Orchids , moss, plant hangers, and plant stands, plant food as well. I had a really good experience with Griggs Nursery, I purchased a plant for my apartment and it began losing leaves. hen I contacted them, they immediately helped with finding a suitable replacement. Special shout outs to Roberto, the Manager, Martha, the lovely person that helped me select a plant, and Gilbert, the very nice delivery driver, who picked up the "sick" plant and delivered the new one. If you're wondering where to go for first-rate service and plants, keep it simple and go to Griggs. As an old lady who has to avoid exposure to Covid 19, I deeply appreciate how Catherine Griggs and their staff helped me put together my first west-coast garden this spring -- again and again. More than once they advised me not to buy something -- even though they would have made a profit had I done so. So they are ethical as well. Visited this nursery twice after calling them and asking if they had specific plants in stock for purchase that day. Both times I was told yes. So, I drive all the way there only to find out they DO NOT have them. Not even an apology. They just say no, I guess we don't have it and they just walk away. They have very nice plants I suppose but they have zero customer service. I will not be returning for a third time. Done! read more

This Nursery has impeccable service, great pricing and selection. I like that they have a lot of shrubs in 1 gallon sizes as well as 5 and 15. Jesus helped me with plant selection, figuring out what plants to use. It was just a great experience. I'll be back there very soon. Worth the extra drive down the road. Someone only recently helped me ID it and says that it's not a frydek. It was sold as a new corm with a leaf so it was hard to know what it was
