After reading a number of good reviews on this restaurant, we had lunch there today. We had a light meal of soups, an appetizer and sushi. Without exception, this is the best Asian food we've experienced in our 7 years In Johnson City! Service was very helpful, prompt and polite. Their menu is filled with a wide cross-section of Pan-Asian foods. The restaurant's owner is on premises and actively manages service plus checked with us to be sure we liked our meals. Best parking is by the Mall entrance adjacent to Dick's Sporting Goods and the restaurant located a few doors down the Mall to your left. We look forward to our next visit! read more

Was actually going there to try Joe burrito but saw it was a shushi bar. I go upstairs and I tell them I want sushi. They have a small bar with some of the best looking fish I've ever seen. This is my first Yelp review because I've finally found a place worth the time to write a review! Yelp helped us find this place and we are so happy the great reviews finally delivered! This place was phenomenal. It is situated in a loft environment above a Rum Bar. It is a shared space with the Rum Bar and GoBurrito. First of all, what a great concept- share the space and enhance and pique everyone in your party's interest... Mexican, Asian, Thai, Sushi, Rum? Kid friendly too! It's also awesome to see businesses banding together. Why not share a space? Great vibe and undoubtedly good for their business finances. The food was PERFECT. We mostly cook at home because no restaurant can quite deliver the combination of flavors that we seek, including sushi. My husband ordered four sushi rolls ranging from the standard rolls to specialty and deep fried rolls. He is hard to please! I was so happy to see him light up with these rolls! I had the chicken drunken noodle three star spicy (their spiciest offering) and it was just enough heat to match the savoriness of the basil and veggies. Together we have eaten at an uncountable number of Sushi/Asian/Thai places and this is definitely a top contender. What made this dining experience even better is that the owner came to our table and had a great conversation with us. She truly cares and is passionate about her food! What??? It's inside Go Burrito??? I was pleasantly shocked after eating here. Hands down it's the best sushi I've had in the TriCities... it's not even close. The fried Bok Choy is A+. The owner is super friendly. The atmosphere is eclectic to say the least but this has now made the top of the list for places in JC and the TRI. Having just arrived in the tri-city area of course one of the things we have to do is identify new restaurants to include a sushi restaurant. After much searching and trial and error we lucked into this restaurant. I never thought that a sushi place in a mall would be good. I was so wrong, my wife is vegan and the fact that there are so many vegan options is amazing. The rolls are unique and the food is excellent. They have a "happy hour" on Wednesdays and some items in the menu are lower priced including some of their sushi rolls. We met the owner and she is welcoming. The staff is friendly and very pleasant. My family and I tried to eat here last week. We arrived at 3:45 pm to eat, and we saw that they opened at 4 pm for dinner. We walked the mall a bit and came back at 4 pm. There were about 10 people standing around waiting, and by 4:10 pm, they still hadn't opened the doors. An employee waiting for her paycheck happened to be standing beside us, and she said not opening on time was normal. We saw the wait staff cleaning the dirty tables from their lunch service AT 4 PM. The staff clearly saw us all standing there and ignored us. This place is a joke. If you're strapped for time, skip this place. read more

Located inside Go Burrito!, ChopstiXpress offers a Sushi and Asian Fusion menu. When you walk in and upstairs, you will see a sushi bar to your right. When we went there wasn't any signage to direct you, but just hang by the sushi bar and a server will seat you. The current menu offers two different sushi specials, one at $12.95 and one at $21.95, which come with choice of appetizer. Not into sushi? There's Hibachi, General Tso's chicken, Sweet and Sour chicken, and Noodle of the day available. For my fellow Vegetarian and Vegan friends: the options are plentiful! There's at least 4 sushi rolls available as well as Tofu Hibachi. We tried them all, and I cannot STRESS how delicious the food was! If you had a chance to eat at Sugarcane when it was open, then you're already familiar with the quality. Sari, the owner of the former Sugarcane, (and now ChopstiXpress) brings her amazing food and outstanding customer experience back to Johnson City in this new venture. I have passed this place over several times while walking around the mall because how good can it be if it's in the mall.....how wrong was I, very wrong. I had the best Tonkotsu Ramen I've had since leaving the Chicago area. My daughter got the Pan Fried Gyoza and white rice and she loved it. The food was okay. Prices on the printed menu's were different from the menus they give you once seated. The salad comes in a very small bowl and consists mostly of lettuce and the dressing you choose. If the salad had anything other than lettuce, I couldn't tell. The portion sizes were not what I expected for the price. Once we were finished and they brought the check, my wife and I were surprised by the total. Upon closer inspection, we noticed they automatically charged about 20% extra for a tip, which is fine if it is earned and deserved, but in our case, it most definitely was not earned or deserved. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will not be returning. Update: The business owner says this is a fake review, but I assure you it isn't. The fact that she can't accept that someone didn't have a good experience at her restaurant only further solidifies my decision to not return to this establishment. read more

I never leave reviews but I follow the owners Facebook and saw of the fake reviews. I'd like to say I went here for my birthday this year, and the food was fantastic, like usual. Because of my parents traveling all over the world with the military, they developed some pretty sophisticated tongues. I grew up eating all kinds of different foods. First of all, I literally waited about 20 minutes, if that, for my food, so that was lovely :) second, the staff are nice, especially Sari, who even took the courtesy of introducing herself. Lastly, every bit of the 48$ order I had was worth the money, the sushi had a good amount of sauce and not too much, the rice was a great consistency and didn't just crumble at the touch, and the fish wasn't too chewy or too soft.
