I finally know for sure i have the correct Miso restaurant. ATTENTION: If you are like me,i tried a other miso when the current one closed for awhile the , moved behind Zacksbys. I was very dissapointed to say the least. NO, i say you have to try this location!!! I tried one that told be they didnt have REAL CRAB or SHRIMP. Pay no attention to those wanna be's. I really had a craving for good sushi- (if you mean Krogers or Food Citys) you can stop reading now. Anyways I walked up and was great with hellos from what i quickly found out were the owners. My first questin was do you have and use REAL seafood ie.shrimp and soft cfabs. I went ahead and ordered the Black Widow roll and a spicy tempura shrimp with cream cheese. I tell you it was delicious. So good i wanted to rate them highly, because i had dogged the satellite store so bad. But seriosly , i continued to look at the menu and it was even larger than the old store. They have mixed drinks,beers, and nightly specials. Cant wait to get back maybe this weekend. We rarely give out 5 star reviews. This place earned it. Upon entering, we were impressed with obviously professionally accomplished architecture and design work. Their upstairs "party rooms" were incredible. Jeremy was super-friendly, and gave us bowls of just-awesome Miso soup right off the bat. He was very knowledgable on the menu questions, and had suggestions. The place was SO well lit, you could actually read the menus! Really, this place was just SO well designed! We were hungry, so we ordered sake, the tempura appetizer...followed by the "How we Roll", "Calamari Crunch Roll", and a "Love Roll". The appetizer was very fresh tasting, and the oil like new. Each of the rolls were superb, with NO shortage of fish on them. The presentation of everything matched the decor...classy but not stuffy. Just can't believe this kind of quality is so close to home! There's plenty of stir-fry, Chinese, and Ramen dishes to satisfy the no-fish folks as well. Next time, we'll stick with two rolls...and come back more often! read more

It is worst service ever I had. Waiter ignore us and didn't communicate as didn't ask us a question or anything. Didn't refill the drinks until I have to get his attention. Treat us like second class citizen because we are deaf. I do give good tip but this is hurtful because of discrimination attitude towards us. Will not come here again. I wanna start off by saying my 3 stars has to do with service, atmosphere and food readiness. I got so excited when it opened because when staying in Seattle and California there were Teriyaki houses everywhere and we hadn't had the best luck on Asian foods around JC but I was sadly SO disappointed in the teriyaki here. Being a teriyaki house I was expecting it to be the star but the chicken was so thin that it made the chicken dry, the teriyaki needed some kind of sweet brown sugar or sesame oil to counter the saltiness or maybe even thicken the sauce to make the chicken not so dry. Orange chicken was great but rice almost tasted dirty? Had a weird taste but we had a great waitress who helped where needed. Sushi was okay, phili roll the salmon didn't taste right, like it had been sitting in the fridge over night- or wasn't stored properly but yellowtail and shrimp tempura were good. Now the bill, they charge a credit charge which is fine but I wouldn't expect that from a restaurant or if it is why it's not on the receipt but have to make the servers have to awkwardly tell guests so you know you're not being charged extra when they take your bill back. Overall okay experience but will probably stick to Hachimi for sushi and only get orange chicken, appetizers, or gyoza here read more

The steak hibachi was cooked perfectly. We had a shrimp tempura roll and the gyoza. One of us had the Teriyaki Noodles with steak. Those were cooked perfectly. Located as a stand alone building at the end of a strip mall, it has a decent amount of parking right by the building. You also have the rest of the strip mall lot for overflow. Inside is cozy and warm. It can get loud in the evenings, especially being so close to the college. Lunch is pretty sedate. The booths are getting worn and the seating on the left as you come in (by the kitchen) can get crowded. Larger groups would have problems sitting together. I had eaten inside a couple times and also ordered several take out orders over the last three years or so. For dining in, the service can be hit or miss, depending on how busy it is. I don't know if they run lean, or if they just are not set up for a rush. Our server today was efficient, bubbly, and very good at her job. Others have been less so. I ordered the lunch yakiniku and my dining partner ordered the sirloin steak. The waitress brought the miso soup out within a minute of our ordering. It was warm but not hot. I thought it was too salty, but pretty flavorful. There were small pieces of tofu and green onions. Just enough to add flavor but to overpower the base. My yakiniku was very good, and the portion was large, especially for lunch. The meat was cooked properly, tender, and had a nice, if soft, flavor. I prefer a bit more punch, but there was nothing wrong with it. The sweet carrots were very soft, but still stayed together on a fork. They were sweet, but not cloying, so I would say nicely done. The fried rice was fine, and the included peas and carrots were underdone and crunchy. Not what I expected nor wanted. The sirloin steak ordered by my dining partner was very nice as well. It was cooked properly, and there was a decent amount on the plate. She also ordered the zucchini and onions instead of the carrots. They were slightly overcooked, being soft like the carrots. The steamed rice was fine as well. Sushi is generally pretty good. I would stay with the daily specials. They seem fresher and offer a good value. I will say, if you order take out, check your order before you leave. I can confidently say they have never gotten our entire order correct. We would call to let them know of the mistake and usually were told we could come back to get the rest of the order or the correct order. We did a couple times, but then the rest of the meal was cold by the time I got back. Other times we were told they would remember us and make it up the next time we came in. That never happened. I stopped going to Miso at all just because of the frustration from the messed up take out orders. Now that I have started back again, I only plan to eat in. The food is good to very good, the service is generally fine, and they don't mess up the order when you are sitting there. read more

I feel that Miso's is definitely top 3 in the area for sushi. I see that not everybody agrees, but based on my own experience I can confidentially say that. I've had quite a few sushi and sashimi items off the menu and everything has been carefully made and FRESH, and taste like high quality stuff. Have never been disappointed except one time I got some type of dry (stir fry?) udon noodle dish when I really wanted udon noodle soup, but that was my mistake. Did eventually make it back for that udon noodle soup and it was exactly the way I expected it to be. 2 things that really rocket it to 5 stars are: 1). Sushi chef Von (may have spelled his name incorrectly). He is freakin' awesome! I've had him make me whatever he felt like making several times, and the things he crank out are some of the best sushi I've ever had. They truly were heavenly.. so good that I didn't even need to eat it with wasabi, or soy sauce. Just popped them in my mouth and the different textures and flavors worked together perfectly. He has so many custom creations that I can't keep up with them all... but seriously, if you trust him to do whatever, you will not be disappointed. 2). The ambiance of the place really pulls me in. I know it's not for everybody, but I just really dig it! The main dining section through the main door has so much personality. Every time I come I look around and discover something new. Plus from here you can also see the sushi chefs working their magic. Then there's the other side of the restaurant that has its own completely different personality. Very upscale and modern feel to it, with an absolutely gorgeous wrap around bar. Also this side is much brighter than the other one. So yeah, I think it's pretty cool for a place to have split personalities, both very tastefully done. The other night decided to go grab a bite to eat. It was getting late(ish) around 9:15 and decided to go to Miso's since it is right down the road. Pulled in at 9:28, with 32 minutes to spare. The open sign is on and door is unlocked. Walk up to the hostess stand and was told they closed the kitchen. I asked what time they closed because the sign said 10pm and the gentleman informed me "whenever they decided to shut down the kitchen." This is our sushi stop..... the rollls in my opinion are on the small side but good and they have a good multi roll deal. Try it out and see for yourself. Starting with the owners to the staff and the amazing quality of the food Miso's show what a great eating experience is all about. I am from California and the quality and freshness of the sushi does not suffer from a restaurant in a small town not by the coast. I frequent 1/2 price sushi rolls on Sunday which in my opinion more people need to know about!!! But whether you love Sushi or just high quality food at great prices - they also specialize in Teriyaki, you will love Miso's. I frequently bring business clients here as well! I challenge you to find a restaurant with owners and staff that is better. That is why I enjoy it 2 -3 times a week. Happy hour from 2-6 pm daily is my typical time to enjoy some libations and food. read more

I've been coming here for years. I had no problem specifying vegan and ordering sushi. The ingredients were flavorful and fresh tasting. I only ordered to-go from here, but I noted that the ambiance is nice. They have nice outdoor patio seating, but no one was out there and the dining room was completely full with a lunch crowd. I am not yet brave enough to dine in during this pandemic that so many other reviewers are quick to dismiss and criticize restaurants over. read more

The sushi lacks fresh ingredients it's also served at room temperature and the management is beyond rude. I love that YELP tries to tell you to give businesses some slack, but we all need to remember that COVID is not a pandemic any more, no matter what the government is telling you. COVID has nothing to do with bad, lackluster food. Or bad, couldn't care less service. I think this spot used to be a Taco Bell. We ordered calamari sticks. I asked, "Are they fresh?" The waiter mumbles anyway, so of course behind the mask, you can't hear what he says, but I can tell it's something to the effect of "from our distributor," meaning "frozen." So, no. Which, it ended up not mattering, because they forgot them anyway. My husband ordered General Tso's(?), and I ordered Teriyaki noodle with mushroom. And shrimp. The waiter, still with the couldn't care less attitude, brought us some kind of soup with a mushroom floating in it and no spoon, so we assumed we were supposed to drink it. It was Top Ramen broth but very peppery. It would have been nice to have water. Yep, tasteless, until I added soy sauce, which I love. But I ate it, because I was starving. My husband's plate looked just as meh until I swiped one of the huge mound of carrots, which suprisingly, were delicious, even cold. They were sweet. Did I mention it was freezing cold in there? There's always some kind of drink specials going on here. They feature many local and import (Japanese) beers on draft. Staffs are always knowledgeable and I've never had bad food/experience here. If you are into raw fish as much as I am, try Orange Crush, salad roll, and CHEF'S SELECTION. You get so much bang for the buck with the selection. My first imprssions of this restaurant was a bit off putting to say the least but I really don't like writing bad reviews for a place so I wanted to give them a 2nd chance before I untimately wrote them off completely. Especially since a few locals had suggested Miso and so it seems like a local favorite. However my 2nd experience at this place was even worse than my 1st. The only part of my meal that they didn't mess up was the miso soup which is apparantly what they are known for hince their name however I don't like miso soup enough to want to come back here just for that. Upon looking over their sushi menu their maki rolls are way over priced in comparison to other sushi restaurants. Rolls that should be 5-6$ are 7-8$. Weary of returning here and eating sub par sushi I only ordered a simple spicy crab roll without cucumber and a standard hot sake. The hot sake took well over 15 minutes to come over to my table and when it finally arrived it was lychee flavored which I hate but I tolerated. I was so happy to finally receive a drink that I did not correct or bring it to their attention but when I got the bill they had tried to upcharge me 3$ for a flavored sake I didn't actually order. Whats with the 3$ upcharge anyways? Its not like u are getting any additional alcohol for that price and most other places will only charge you a dollar at the most. The sushi took longer than normal to prepare and when it finally came out they had included the cucumber in my roll. To correct this took another 20 minutes to make a simple maki roll while everyone else at my table had already gotten their food and was trying to be polite by waiting for me. When it came out the 2nd time around they hadnt even bothered to mix the crab up with the spicy mayo which I consider extremely lazy. The crab was oddly fishy tasting. The rice on the sushi was so overcooked it was essentially watery mush. After screwing up my entire order I tried to finish off this horrible experience with a fortune cookie which ended up being stale. Seriously guys? To add insult to injury the sushi roll came back with a vengance the following morning in the form of explosive diarhea. I barely made to the bathroom and I was late for my meeting, its the bad gift that keeps on giving. The service sucks, their management is lacking, and their food is of poor quality and way over priced for what you are getting. Please do yourself, your patience, and your stomach a favor and don't eat here. read more

Dined here on August 26th at 5:15pm. Decided to try it since there were so many good reviews. I can only guess that other reviewers were intoxicated or have never had real Japanese food before. Problem 1: I went in with my two small kids, ages 5 and 6, and my husband, and the hostess/server/bartender (she apparently plays all 3 roles) sat us in the bar. Not a big deal, but there were plenty of regular-height tables available that would have been more appropriate for a family with little kids. She was rather abrupt throughout the service and since she was wearing several hats that day, I'll assume it was simply because she was pulled in many directions. Problem 2: The miso soup, which the server tossed on our table like she was slinging drinks, was tepid and watery. I got the impression it had been sitting around for a while and they just added water to it to stretch it further. Definitely the worst miso soup I've ever had. More like dirty water. Problem 3: Lemonade for the kids was tart and not too sweet (good), but had a strange metallic aftertaste. Problem 4: The green salad was obviously one of those pre-packaged salad mixes one buys at the grocery store as were the tiny, flavorless croutons and way-too-sweet sesame dressing. Problem 5: The Udon noodles, fried rice, and fried veggies were terribly overcooked, mushy, and drenched in a sickly sweet teriyaki-like sauce. The fried rice tasted like a teriyaki Rice-a-Roni mix that was left simmering too long. I'm pretty sure that fried rice was sitting around for a while, too. Problem 6: We received fortune cookies at the end of the meal! WTF? Since when are fortune cookies served at Japanese restaurants?! My husband tried to talk me into 2 stars instead of 1 because the food was served quickly and his Philly Rolls were OK - the roll could have been tighter and more even, but it wasn't bad. I think the food was served so quickly because much of it had been prepared long before we ordered it and Philly Rolls aren't exactly difficult to make. I'm trying to be fair in my review and find some positives, but there weren't any. I'm from another state where really good Japanese food is available everywhere and I've had my share. This was not Japanese food. It was American food with a Japanese/Chinese "theme". I guess the Japanese "art" on the walls and the name is enough to call it Japanese. Miso recently opened in Oct. If you like sushi you will love Miso. They do possibly the best sushi in JC. I had the sirloin teryaki and i enjoyed it very much . I go to miso almost every single Sunday for half price sushi. 3.50 for a roll of sushi can't be beat. Not the best sushi in the world, but excellent for the price. Soup is always good as well. The only downside to this place is the service. Service is completely hit or miss. I've been on a super crowded night and gotten my food in 10 minutes and I've been on an almost dead night and it's taken quadruple that long to get my food. Everything I drank and ate tasted pretty good. The cocktail I had was delicious, it had lychee juice and lychees in it (read the last paragraph to see why you should never order this drink though). I had vegetarian sushi and my husband had a noodle dish which he said he enjoyed. Apparently though, if you look young, you get seated in the bar area with all the obnoxious college kids. So put on a full face of makeup and try to look older, or just avoid sitting over there if you can. The bartender was loud and flirty with a couple customers who played videos/music on their phones the whole time. My waitress was less than interested in serving us and did it half-heartedly. She didn't even refill my husband's water. Ooh the best part...as we're waiting for our waitress to realize we're done eating, my husband looks over and sees OUR WAITRESS DIPPING HER HAND IN THE LYCHEE CONTAINER and eating one straight out of it. So unprofessional. There are much better places to eat that are way more sanitary, the food is better than "okay", and the servers do their job with a smile and sincerity. Sushi is a staple in my diet, but not my partners, so I always like to find a place that can satisfy both of us. This place did not. Pros: the service was good and I was excited to be greeted by a bowl of miso as we sat down. I got the lunch special with two rolls which both were pretty standard but satisfying. Cons: the salad is a cheap iceberg lettuce mix with julienned carrots. I usually don't expect much from the salad but a couple slices of cucumber or tomatoes would be nice. But the biggest disappointment was what my partner ordered, the vegetable teriyaki. The veggies were way over done and soft. The side of boiled carrots was strange to begin with but then they tasted like they were boiled in sugar water. So if you do goz I'd suggest just sticking with the sushi. read more
