Mediocre at best. As Marriott's newest restaurant in the hotel zone or Cancun I had high hopes for this restaurant. Hana is very confusing to me, it's a Polynesian restaurant named after a part of Maui that has Maori dancing according to the staff. The burning of Paolo Santo was just disturbing to me. The food was expensive but portions were very small and the entrees didn't really have any sides to them at all. Waitstaff wasn't very attentive at dinner and especially not at breakfast. For dinner we started with the kava shrimp which deserves a star, though I would have preferred the shrimp to be served sans shell but it was good regardless. For my main entree I had the Huli huli chicken, it was was underseasoned. Breakfast I had the lobster eggs Benedict, there was minimal lobster and even though I asked for a soft poach the eggs were overcooked. The dish lacked seasoning. Overall I am very disappointed in my dining experiences with the Marriott.

I've been here twice for the buffet breakfast and once for dinner in the past 3 days. There is an over abundance of employees. My experience has greatly been based upon the waiters I had. First breakfast, Manuel was great. Attentive. Pleasant. Efficient. I am not a big breakfast person & usually have tortilla chips with refried beans and 3 pieces of bacon. I also pay extra for a Coke. Bill was $22. This morning, I had a different waiter. He was not attentive. I had the exact same breakfast & it was $34. That was roughly $4 each tortilla chip. He also left the bill and a pen on the table before I had taken my first bite. He didn't even bother to put it into a folder. Dinner was very good. I had the lobster. Portion was small & again, I am not a big eater. Service at dinner was friendly & attentive. It took a long time for food to appear. The Polynesian show was maybe 5 minutes in the outside area. Lobster with the cheesecake dessert and a Coke was $50. I find it strange to have a Polynesian restaurant in Cancun. The menu offerings are pretty limited. I think if you ate here more than a few nights, you would be bored with the offerings.

My husband and I came here twice. Once for the buffet breakfast and then another for dinner. For the breakfast buffet, they have so many choices, including meats, fruits, breads, etc. We got to sit outside and it was such a nice view and weather. For dinner, we got so many different dishes. The bread contained regular bread and taro bread and was delish. We were able to get more bread if we asked. Each dish we got was seasoned well and tasted great. I wish I could remember every dish name :( The service was wonderful! Our waiter checked up on us often and gave us great recommendations. If I come to Cancun again, I will definitely be back here'

The only reason we had this dish is because we got 2 free Mai Tai. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother to try this restaurant. The free Mai Tai is good, NOT great. They served this beautiful bread: taro mixed with regular bread with butter. Okay, this is pretty darn good. We weren't planning to eat dinner here, but we got a 2 free Mai Tai and our dinner reservation is at Porfirio's 8pm tonight. While we didn't want to fill up our appetite with this mediocre food, we still need a small snack before dinner. Hence, Szechuan Ribs was chosen. I think it's our biggest mistake. Me, being half Chinese and, a pretty damn cook, wondered if this dish is supposed to be authentic or fusion Szechuan-Mexican. If it's meant to be authentic, this failed MISERABLY, from all aspects. If this is meant to be fusion Szechuan, it's good, but still NOT GREAT. Let's dissect the why... 1. The texture of the ribs. It fell off the bone, it's great right? But it's not the right kind of 'falling off the bones'. It seemed the ribs were cooked using pressure cooker and way cooked too long. Had this been cooked with a grill or smoker and marinated with Szechuan sauce prior to grilling, the result would be so much different. 2. The flavor of the pork. Aahhh,... since this is meant to be Polynesian-Szechuan, that explains the plain flavor. The chef made a spicy sauce on the side and it's supposed to be spicy but it's not.

The service was well coordinated from beginning to end of our dinner service. The New York's and side dishes were Terrific and my surf and turf was perfectly prepared. This is my favorite dining experiences while staying at JW Marriott. The fun entertainment was really fun to watch.

This place has amazing decor and ambiance. I brought my girlfriend with me to Cancun and we stopped at Hana on our last night here. I can say the place has amazing decor and ambiance. The cocktail menu is small but enough to make you order something. I had the Moko and my girlfriend had the Tiki Mai Tai- both were lovely. For food I went with the Chilean sea bass and my girlfriend had the Mahi steak. I loved my dish but she wasn't too impress with hers so I'd try something else. Also, there was a Polynesian performance show that really took me by surprise. I didn't know they had this planned. Overall, 4 out of 5. I wish the mahi steak was better but I would come again! Cheers! - Fernando D.

Loved this place: it's brand new. Ambiance is modern, with Polynesian vibes. They have 2 dance shows at 6.45 and the second maybe around 9? They didn't really have vegetarian options besides salad. So I ordered a salad which was yummy, and seafood bisque which was also amazing. My husband had meat and loved it. They apparently have a breakfast buffet. Oh and we had chocolate cake it was a massive slice so be prepared to share. That bread they bring is probably the best bread I've ever had. Wish I took a pic.

All the staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was delicious. The short rib melted in my mouth & I could remove it from the bone with a fork. The show starts just after 7. It's very entertaining.

    The best beet salad ever

This place is dinner and entertainment!!! Hawaiian dancers women and men came out of nowhere, it was amazing. To be honest the Mezcal drink was indeed smoky, so smoky that it was like drinking a chimney fire. I did not like it at all. We ordered the clams, beet salad, lamb, and the ribeye. The clams were very flavorful but the meat was decimated, even so that I wonder if I'm going to be ok in 8 hours. The beet salad was the best I've ever had, the optime of eye candy! I ordered the lamb medium but it came out a little too soon. The ribeye was supposed to be medium but came out very raw. So raw that the first cut was bloody. So we had to send it back for some more cooking. Overall it's a very tourist appealing restaurant inside the Marriott Cancun Resort. The music was like being in a club... Overall it is a great vacation eatery, just not the finest dining.

Dinner was delicious. The shortrib looks like the flinstones oicked it out. Its huge! Very good. Does not come with any sides, which is common for restaurants in the area. The stuffed lobster was pretty good. Sausage stuffing was flavorful. Beet salad was delicious! I didn't really taste any smokiness as the title suggests but still so good. Sweet beets with tangy goat cheese and peppery arugula! Let me tell you about that bread yall! Some of the best ive had... hot, fresh, a little crisp on the bottom, and melts in your mouth. Sweetness from taro was perfect balance with the butter. Theres parm and macadamia nuts on top. Dying for me. Service was good and the view is beautiful. Good music and atmosphere. The breakfast was not great. We had ordered to go for our room. Standard hotel like waffles (freezing cold margarine with it) and chilaquilas was cold and bland. We paid a ton so not worth it. Only reason for 3 stars.

Their drinks were great and strong. The food was also competitively priced for what you get. The service in the bar was much more friendly than the service downstairs.

It's pretty hidden so be sure to look for the Marina Sunrise sign ( see in my pictures). You walk upstairs and through a Starbucks pop up store/convenience store and then back down to the patio. Very small area but all tables have a gorgeous view of the water and if you get there at opening time (8am) like I did, you get to see the guys getting the rental boats ready for a fun day out on the water. This place is sooo inexpensive and really tasty! If you're looking for a break from the overpriced hotel breakfasts, this is your place. For 90 pesos ( roughly $4 USD) you get your choice of eggs, meat, OJ, coffee. That's a serious bargain. I mixed it up and got scrambled eggs with chorizo and got Grapefruit instead of OJ and opted out of coffee since it was already so hot outside. They also provide delicious tortillas. Totally worth every penny and more! Back home a basic breakfast like this would have run me close to $17, so it was nice to get a break for breakfast not costing you as much as other meals. Worth coming by and enjoying a peaceful traditional breakfast.

I loved the tiki bar esthetic lots of palms and reeds. Great music and they were playing the Knicks game when we arrived. Really an awesome place. Probably great for grab and go as well. I was staying at a hotel next door, WAITING to try this place. I came before it opened was told to come back at at 8. I had an excursion booked and was waiting on my shuttle at my hotel, I asked the blonde bartender how long it would be for 2 burritos, she assured me 5-10 minutes. She said she UNDERSTOOD I couldn't missed my shuttle for my trip and it would be fast!! By 8:30, my shuttle had arrived and I had to leave. I told the bartender I can't wait any longer and had to leave, she asked would I be coming back tonight after my excursion. I told her I would. When I came back at almost 9pm, I had to go back and forth with the manager about what happened. He said he understood about catching the shuttle and he had to make a call to his boss. After 45minutes of waiting and going back and forth, he said his boss checked the camera and I left even after waiting half an hour for 2 burritos, so I get no refund and no burritos!! I SHOWED HIM SCREEN SHOTS OF MY RECEIPT WITH THE TIME I was charged and the time I had to leave!!AND HE ACCUSED ME OF LYING SAYING I SHOULD'VE WAITED LONGER than half an hour, so he wouldn't help, just argue with me about why I left? I came back later that night thinking they would give me a burrito that I paid for!!! To go back and work and argue over something so frivolous, after THEIR EMPLOYEES misinformed me of the time it would take!!! If the PERSON YOU HAVE AT THE FRONT IS TELLING PEOPLE IT CAN BE MADE IN 5-10 minutes THATS WHAT SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED!!! They took my money and REFUSED THE COMPENSATE!! Then the manger accused me of lying - disgusting business and unprofessional management. Took my money and my food. Trash business. Unprofessional service. While we were arguing, other people weee complaining about their service too. If you're a tourist, DONT COME HERE!
