What's worse is the massive increase in microwave radiation (2GHz and 5GHz frequency bands) that will be irradiating tenants 24/7 - far above levels that have already proven to be unsafe (according to tens of thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies worldwide). Equipment boxes and routers will blanket these properties with super high frequency ambient and directional radiation waves - in addition to the Radio Frequency exposures that are already choking the airwaves. Do your homework, Northland, before assaulting the brains and health of children, pets, and people with this reckless and dangerous technology - not to mention stripping tenants of their right to make decisions regarding their own health, safety, and peace of mind. The reports and links on the Environmental Health Trust website (ehtrust.org) provide enough validation on the dangers of 5G to halt this insane enforcement.

DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! Finally moved out of what hubby and I are calling "The money pit" on the 1st of feb. Things were fine, hubby did a great job of cleaning the place, and we put in a 2 months notice. Did that matter? NOOOOOO! Let's see, we get popped with a $475 fee to replace the entire carpet because less than a square inch of it was damaged by our cat. We were told by the grounds people (upon pre inspection) that it wouldn't cost much to repair. THAT was BS! Oh, speaking of pets, it doesn't matter if the cat/dog was clean and didn't leave any stains/sheds on the carpet, you will STILL get charged a pet fee "for people allergic to pets". It's a PET FRIENDLY APARTMENT COMPLEX! People with allergies would know to avoid this place if they were concerned about dander!! Did I mention a "Deep cleaning fee" too, even though my husband scrubbed our place top to bottom?! To say I am angry is an understatement. After all that we have paid in rent and how we DID abide by the rules of our 2 month notice/cleaning the place, we are stuck paying nearly $2,000 just to leave. DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! Look, if you want to pay nearly a $1,000 a month for a one bedroom with NONE of the utilities covered, you are better off renting somewhere that at least gives you a few perks and well, LETS YOU KNOW OF HOW MUCH YOU RISK PAYING IF YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE EVEN IF YOU GIVE OVER A 2 MONTHS NOTICE! AGAIN, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!!!!!!

I could describe Ted Rist in generalities but I figured I'll describe him and his right-hand man…read morenamed Rubin and their behavior towards us on the day we moved into their property. Two days prior to moving in, I called Ted and asked him what the earliest time we could come collect our keys was. He said that he didn't force his previous tenants to be completely moved out at the end of the lease so we might run into the previous tenants, he then went on a long tangent about how "they're good guys, you know, and also the heat works really well." I asked my question again, he said "Sometime between 9 and 10." I said, "So 9?" He said, "How about 10?" So there it was - we arrived at the building on the day at 9:55am. Ted was nowhere to be found - turns out that's typical of his "management" style. We called the number his answering machine gives as the "maintenance" number. That's where Rubin came in, he told us he'd arrive in 20 minutes, he arrived over an hour later. After we got let in, we found the toilet wasn't flushing, so I called Rubin. He said, "Give me five minutes." Two hours later - no Rubin. I went downstairs to Ted's office, he was there and said "Oh, sorry Rubin is taking so long, he ran out to get me some coffee." No mention of Ted's not showing up when he agreed to. Keep in mind, Ted is perfectly capable of getting his own coffee, especially when his maintenance guy has to go fix a new tenant's toilet. From that day forward through the end of our lease, Rubin especially repeatedly made demeaning and derogatory comments towards us whenever he had to come complete maintenance work (which was not that often). If that sounds like an experience you're interested in, this is the place for you. The location is indisputably great, minus the endless construction, but that's about it.

All the bad things you heard about bad property management companies, Amber embossed all of them. All calls when unanswered. When you did call, often he would say "What do you want me to do about it, I am up in New Hampsha" Any job, small or large, was always done half assed backwards and looked like it was done by a 9 year old. Everything they touched they screwed up. I usually had to finish or redo the repair so it was properly done. One day, the landlord had them install laundry facilities in the basement. Well they did, and hooked up the dryer wrong so it was free and we did not have to pay. Great for the tenants. It was about a month before the landlord discovered this and Ted and his crew ended their tenure on our building.

Well it was a series of events that got my hopes up only to lead to disappointment soured my experience. Also they don't really have much inventory. I will say that this company has the lowest "fee" for the place we were looking out of any of the other agencies. It was just a straight forward credit report from Experian that you could keep and use for future applications $15/person. (However, we all know all the other agencies won't trust you. They want you to fritter your money to pay a fee for their arbitrary credit report.) Then the usual stuff like pay stubs, W2 and references from previous landlord. I found a listing (too late) on Zillow for an ideal location with reasonable price, and she still agreed to show it to us which was nice since the property owners were still vetting candidates. She also tried to push this other undesirable (and overpriced) apartment that had been on the market for months in lieu of the current one. I can't help but feel like she just wanted to show more qualified candidates for consideration to boost her and the agency's reputation - when all along they were going to pick the first applicant anyway (to avoid potential accusations of discrimination). She even set up a meeting with the Property Managers for a small interview at their office location after hours. Regrettably she informed us that they chose the other applicant since they were equally qualified. I thought that the "dream place" slipped through our fingers. We asked her to keep us in mind for other rental units with similar stats, but we never heard from her again. Thankfully we got in touch with another realty group and found something else around the same price point. The absolute best part was that not even a month after we moved in we received an e-mail from Michelle and she said the same property was now available again for rental at the start of the following month! We let her know we found something else, but we were curious what happened. Of course I understand that she doesn't want to reveal what happened, but it's truly funny how things work out sometimes. Think RES is a professional company overall and I didn't get the scummy vibe from them (like CRG) so they could very well work for you. I recommend continuing to look as well on your own if you're a renter as I mentioned earlier there's not a huge inventory of places.

Instead of acting as a professional management company with independent judgment, Barkan appeared to follow the HOA board blindly, even when serious problems involved privacy, access to my home, maintenance failures, and basic resident rights. One example was the trash shed. I asked for the trash shed to be replaced for the benefit of the owners for two years, 3 managers, but the issue was ignored until the property had a rat infestation. In my opinion, this could have been avoided if management had listened to the concerns and repeated pleas of unit owners before the problem became a bigger health and safety issue with broken shed that became hazardous. A manager Montabault Diana, also entered my home without my permission by using a master key at 9 am while I was waking up. That alone destroyed my trust. No resident should feel that management can access their private home without clear permission, proper notice, or a legitimate emergency. Management also allowed the HOA to move forward with a camera placement that I believe crossed serious privacy boundaries. Massachusetts recognizes a right to privacy under M.G.L. c. 214, § 1B, while they told us we cannot have video ring camera, they allow the neighbor to do it looking straight into my windows for two years and it took a law suit to demand privacy for my living space. They still keeping that camera but at least they are blocking my windows for their creeps. I also was charged over $5k assessment fee without my knowledge and they kept my money silently for two weeks until I had to call and ask to return. They did saying "Mistakes happens" without any remorse. These were not small mistakes. These were issues involving privacy, trust, access to a home, money, maintenance neglect, and the responsibility of management to protect residents from improper HOA conduct. Based on my experience, Barkan Management did not meet that standard and still struggling with transparency and unequal treatment. This really brought me a lot of pain, anxiety and distrust when it could have been simply all transparent and professional. I hope you read this and take notes for your managers.

Whoever the individual is that came up with this form of lease renewal is not qualified to even have a drivers license. This truly is a sad sad idea. We joked when we first moved in that the bathrooms were so large that you could DANCE in them. Maintenance issues were resolved promptly and the community of people living here was interesting and congenial. Anyone looking for a lease from 2-12 months (or longer) should definitely take a look at Endicott Green. It's proximity to major highways, shopping, restaurants, etc. is amazing and your dog can live here, too! Disposable bags are provided at stations throughout the property to make it easy to clean up your dog's "business".
