Booked a 5:30 prenatal massage. I originally thought it was $80 based off the website but it was actually $105. I was told it was because the masseuse had special training for a prenatal massage as well as pregnancy pillows. I arrived 10 min early and filled out my paper work and wasn't taken back to my room until 5:40. They did not have pregnancy pillows. Just a regular pillow for me to wedge under my belly. I found this pretty disappointing. I feel like it hindered me from having the best massage since my shoulders couldn't fully relax laying on my side, where most of my tension was. My massage ended before 6:25 and I had paid and was in my car by 6:30, when my hour massage should have ended. I do appreciate the time I was massaged, it felt very nice and a good amount of pressure for me. I had a wonderful first experience here yesterday! I got a prenatal massage with Erin. She was able to work out some neck pain I had been experiencing for some time. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (and nobody hounded me to write a review, which I appreciate). I came on a three month gift certificate so I can't speak to the financial aspects, which many reviewers seem to be troubled by. When I originally saw all the low reviews I got pretty freaked out, since massage is such a vulnerable thing and you want to feel safe, clean, and comfortable. Honestly, it wasn't great and so far away from being worth the cost. I booked a couples massage for my fiancé and I for a Sunday night, they require a credit card to hold an apt because of the 50% cancellation fee. Oh and the couples massage is $230 (a regular 50 minute massage is $60 so it's almost 4x the cost, we only went through with it due to a coupon for $100). We got to our apt and my fiancé had Yuko and I had Antonio. Antonio did a fine job, nothing exceptional, but fine. I was so distracted during my massage with Antonio because my fiancé's massage was SO LOUD. She was chopping him instead of massaging him. I opened my eyes one time and she had his leg pulled out to one side and she was moving so fast with her hands, there is no way it was comfortable. After I asked my fiancé how it was and he said he hurt from all the chops and that he would never come back here. At the counter the lady asked how it went and tried to sell us on our package and he told her we wouldn't be back. If you come here, I don't recommend Yuko or a couples massage. I have a membership with Hand and Stone and have never had an issue at any other location. I recently received a massage here and it was very uncomfortable. Most of the massage was just stretching, and it seemed as though he was trying to adjust me like a chiropractor. I had to ask him to stop when he tried to crack my neck. Let me start by saying I have been going to this spa every since it opened. I have never had any bad service until today. I recently canceled my membership because I was paying monthly but couldn't always find the time to go each month so the packages kept piling up and I would have to play catch up so I just decided to cancel. They called and I said I indeed have at least 2 packages left. The receptionist, Megan, was very rude and unprofessional. Megan stated that I didn't and "moving forward what do you want to do" with a nasty attitude and that's when I told her I will come up there. She then contacted the owner who saw that I had the packages left which I told her. Instead of her trying to figure it out she automatically made it as if we were wrong when in actuality she was and she never apologized for the inconvenience! When you are in retail you should be as professional as you possibly can. And I definitely don't want to take from others because they have a bad apple in the bunch but I just was really taken back by her rudeness and the fact she didn't even apologize after it was confirmed she was wrong! Megan needs another training of how to speak to customers. I will not return to that particular location, which sucks because it's close to my house, but I will not spend my hard earned money at a place that will have someone rude like that work there! They tell you upon signing up it's month to month which it is not. The lady checking me out asked if I wanted to start a membership. I said no thank you. She said "are you sure? You get such and such and blah blah blah." "No I'm good. Thank you". The lady says "well why not?" Um listen woman, I. Said. No. Guess what? She still added my card and started a membership! I noticed for 3 months $69.99 had been taken out. I called to cancel, they said they would send an email. No email was ever sent. I went in today, 4/12 to use those credits I never wanted and again, worthless/pointless massage. I paid $70 to lay on a warm table to simply be stroked gently when I asked for deep tissue. Actually scheduled asking for a deep tissue and the therapist said "oh, I just do a firm pressure". So the scheduler didn't even listen to what I wanted in a massage! 3 credits of $70 and I still ended up having to pay $115 for upgrades when I was told the credits would cover everything. This spa is so great! By far my favorite in the area. Everyone is very talented and passionate about what they do and you can tell. The massage therapists really listen to what you want and focus on those areas. I had a very personable therapist with a great flow. The spa also has a great selection of enhancements that can help to boost your service. The Himalayan hot stone is my favorite. And the esthetician's are the best at suggesting treatments for your skin care goals- I always leave with my skin GLOWING and feeling light as air! My wife patronage this establishment for the first time today. She was giving a $100 gift card from a friend for her birthday. Since it was her first visit, the business advertises an introductory 50 minute massage at the price of $59.95 for first time customers. At checkout, the receptionist said they are not allowed to honor the introductory price on a gift card. The gift card had to be used for the entire value. WOW, this is robbery at its best. For the massage, it was very average. Not all areas of the body are giving attention during this 50 minute session. They take up too much of your paid time to constantly up-sale you on enhancements. The technician offered my wife CBD oil and finally offered decompression/cupping. My wife came home bruised and in pain from the sampling of this decompression/cupping. She was told that they was not allow to bruise the customers but yet my wife is left badly bruised. To the point where her upper back is totally bruised all over. Asst Manager Megan was notified about this experience and the best she was willing to do is on the next visit give $10 off enhancement add on. Really, how is this compensation for such an awful experience. Do they really believe a customer would come back to pay for an massage and add on an enhancement to only receive $10 off. Why would anyone return to this establishment when they obviously don't respect your money, time, or enjoyment of service to be performed? No this isn't a full service spa but it was what I expected signing up. I saw this place because I always go to the Qdoba right across it. I have had facials and massages before at very reputable business. But this place feels too much like a business, not somewhere, you can relax, and be fully pampered. The inside is nice. But it looks too "commercial." Let me explain what I mean. It doesn't feel like a spa, it doesn't feel relaxed, it feels like a sales pitch. The front desk rep, don't get me wrong, is very nice and professional, but when you check in, they will attempt to up-sell you on additional treatments. The rep will mark the additional treatment attached to your intake form. If you're not careful or this is your first time be careful, because you have the potential of agreeing to and additional treatment without knowing. The esthetician I had didn't seem very knowledgeable or experienced. I did ask how long she has been doing facials, she said two years. Her technique was all over the place. There was no flow. If you've had a facial done by someone who knows what they are doing, you will know what I mean. At the end of my treatment, again I was given a sales pitch in products and their membership.
