When it came time after 16 1/2 years to say goodbye Dr Miata came and handled everything so lovingly. I don't even have the words to express my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful Dr.

I wouldn't recommend this vet. They were nice and polite, however what happened with my senior…read moredog's care was unacceptable. My dog has a UTI and we were prescribed Amoxi/Clav based on culture results. I told Dr Miyata we had an existing bottle in the fridge from a prior emergency visit. I sent a picture, and she approved us using it. It had been reconstituted 24 days earlier (dispense date was in the picture), but since it was refrigerated and the vet said it was okay, I trusted her guidance. When I went to the pharmacy for a refill, I was told that liquid Amoxi/Clav expires 10 days after reconstitution, even in the refrigerator. So that means that my dog received ineffective medication this entire time. If I hadn't picked up a refill, I would never have known. When I notified the vet, she said she was "under the impression the bottle wasn't reconstituted." Huh?! But in the picture, the medication was clearly a liquid suspension, refrigerated, labeled "shake well," and had the dispense date. I have NEVER been dispensed Amoxi/Clav in powder form in my life. The explanation felt more like avoiding responsibility than acknowledging what happened. My dog is extremely fragile with CKD. We cannot afford delays or ineffective medication. This isn't about whether the outcome changes; it's about basic medical standards. You don't throw a lifejacket with holes to someone who's drowning just because they're already drowning. Expired or ineffective medication should never be approved. This felt negligent and dismissive, and that's why I can't trust this vet. I get that mistakes happen -- maybe she didn't look at the picture closely. We're all human. But what matters is owning them, being transparent, and correcting them. Instead, I was met with an explanation that didn't make sense at all and minimized what happened.

f I've been coming to Alicia Pet Care Center for many years,…read morespecifically working with Dr. Matthew Wheaton. I was originally introduced to this veterinary hospital by my dog trainer, Vladae from SoCal Dog Training and I'm very glad I followed that recommendation. Over the years, Dr. Wheaton and his team have taken excellent care of my chocolate Labrador, Bruno. Now with my new puppy, Nico, also a chocolate Lab, choosing Alicia Pet Care Center again was an easy decision. Dr. Matthew is extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly, he is straightforward and trustworthy which is rare and very valuable. Their extended hours, including full-day Saturdays, make scheduling very convenient. They also offer a drop-off service, which is incredibly helpful when things get busy. Overall, a reliable, a bit pricey, but professional, and honest veterinary clinic. Thank you, Dr. Matthew and team.

It's possible their regular vets are fine (hopefully), but their backup vet should be avoided if…read moreyou need to bring your pets here urgently. She recommends unnecessary procedures while using fear tactics, which is a shame. The backup vet was very incompetent. She recommended the wrong solutions and suggested imaging that cannot detect soft tissue issues. She never asked any history questions, examined the wrong area entirely, and jumped straight to worst case scenarios without justification. She spent only 5 minutes on the consultation and pushed for X-rays when in my dog's case, those weren't even necessary. X-rays are not the right protocol for soft tissue issues. I didn't have a choice as they were the only place open that day. A few days later my dog is completely fine because it wasn't actually that hard to fix. He had full anal glands that just needed to be emptied ... and this vet was pushing for X-rays and bloodwork instead One thing worth mentioning, she was very quick to suggest cancer or tumors without proper justification. What she may not know is that intact male dogs actually have hormonal protection that significantly reduces the risk of certain cancers in that area. A more knowledgeable vet would have considered this before jumping to worst case scenarios. This is basic intact male biology that should be understood before making such alarming suggestions to worried pet owners. That's why I usually just bring my dogs to my regular holistic vets in Irvine and Laguna Beach. To be fair, the regular staff are lovely. The vet tech was excellent, agreed with my decisions, and actually helped. So I do believe their regular vets and staff are much better. This one star is specifically for the backup vet. Please be very careful if they assign you to her.

Jennifer has made such a difference in our lives!…read more Pepper was 1 yr old in 2013 when we rescued her from euthanasia at our local SPCA. She was returned for aggressiveness - she wouldn't allow anyone to touch her with their hands. She guarded her food and snapped at people and growled 24/7 - even when she was having fun. We will never know exactly what trauma she suffered before we brought her home, but we knew she deserved a chance at life. Even if she needed to be separate. That was ok. She deserved to be alive. For years we worked with Pepper, touching her with our feet, then socks over hands, giving her privacy, putting her food off to the side, and letting her come to us when she wanted attention. The ongoing issue was that Pepper wouldn't come unless we forced her. We didn't like forcing her to go out or interact. We knew there had to be another way. Then we met Jennifer! After a few sessions Pepper started coming to me when called, she started volunteering for cuddles and has even started to lay in my lap and allow me to pet her. This is Huge. Pepper prefers my husband, she never ever came to my lap for love before. The Pepper I knew simply "tolerated" me, and would sometimes allow my husband some interaction. Pepper is even more amazing than ever before. Jennifer helped Pepper to know that we love her and would never ever traumatize her or force her to do anything she didn't want to do. She's the nicest, friendliest, loving dog. She is great with kids (we never knew this before!) We knew we could give her a life, but it took Jennifer helping us to reach our goal and go way beyond our expectations. We never would have gotten this far without Jennifer. We owe her a world of gratitude and many blessings for giving Pepper the fullest form of a life possible (and Fur Mom gets lots of Love too ) Thank you Jennifer! Peter, Robin & Pepper Coll

At risk of…read moresounding dramatic, she quite literally changed my life with my obnoxious adolescent Golden Retriever. My dog was horribly mouthy and unruly when we met Emily, and after a scarring experience with a different trainer in the area, my hope and faith were kinda down in the dumps. Emily, with her no-nonsense attitude and plethora of dog knowledge, left me with hope, homework and a multitude of things to ponder - Am I communicating clearly and fairly? Am I giving him everything he needs to be successful? A year and a half after our first session, Emily helped train the same (now less obnoxious) Golden Retriever on an e-collar so he could achieve full off-leash freedom. Emily has been, by far, one of the best investments I've made in my dog's life. I run a dog-walking company and refer my clients out to her and everyone is as amazed by her as I am. She answers all your questions about training for life, which is invaluable and puts on amazing events with other knowledgable trainers. She even organizes a free monthly pack walk where owners and their dogs can come learn to walk together in a neutral environment. My world with my dog opened up significantly since meeting Emily and we can't thank her enough.

I left a review on google which she replied "i have no one of this name and this never happened"…read more But it absolutely did happen. During a training Emily took my dog which had a choker on walked it to another dog that barked at my dog then proceeded to choke my dog behind her back while using the leash as leverage over her shoulder. A group of 20 people watched this and thats when I was done. Emily you know what you did and you cant push the illusion you haven't done this. It was beyond inappropriate and could have lasting physical effects on the dogs. Up until this point you were pretty good with the dog but there was something "off" that day and it was taken out on my dog. Other people should know this.

Although our hearts are broken, we couldn't have asked for a better way to say goodbye to Penny. Thanks to Dr. Cohen and his team, Penny was able to transition peacefully at home, on her blanket and bed, surrounded by her family who loved her so much. We are comforted in knowing that in her final moments, Penny was well taken care of by Dr. Cohen and the Laguna Beach Veterinary Medical Center team. Dr. Cohen's warm and caring energy made Penny and all of us feel at ease. A couple of months after Penny's passing, we made the decision to adopt another dog- a rescue puppy who we named Clifford. We couldn't have thought of a better veterinarian to care for our puppy than Dr. Cohen. So far, Clifford is happy, healthy, and enjoys his trips to the vet. We look forward to many years together with Clifford, thanks to the help of the Laguna Beach Veterinary Medical Center.
