My wife and kids love Handel's, so I know how good it is. I wasn't planning on getting anything this time for dietary reasons, but watching people walk out with cones while their cars charged was too much. I gave in. Peer pressure won. I had trouble deciding between three or four flavors but ended up with the Hurricane, fully loaded. Rich, creamy, and excellent. Every bite reminded me why people keep coming back. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but the quality and flavor make it worth it. The place had great energy, the staff was moving quickly, and everyone seemed happy to be there. Everyone here was so kind and did such an awesome job that I had to reach out and say something. This was my first time at this establishment, and I had a whole boatload of questions. All my questions were answered and we had a wonderful time. If one employee or associate, didn't know the answer they called one of their colleagues over to find out what the answer was and so on and so forth with good banter, a pleasant conversation, all my questions or answered And I couldn't help but go back for seconds. It's amazing there is almost always a line whenever I visit so it must be good. And yes it's good. The line goes through very quickly and the choices are overwhelming but it's a good thing for ice cream. Everything is through the outside window. Even small size is substantial and the only reason for me to upsize to medium is to have 2 flavors instead of 1. The girl who helped me is friendly and had a great smile. The ice cream tastes great. I wouldn't say it's the best ice cream I've had but it's good enough to be called good. I've seen posts on social media about this ice cream place, and there is usually a line outside. I had to check it out. I came on a day where there was a short line. maybe 6 people in front of me. It's still took 25 minutes. Sunday, 1 pm, they have 6 service windows , but only two cashiers on windows,, One filling Door Dash orders. Understandably, they don't give samples. Too many flavors for that and indecisive customers. I decided on the four sampler for 7.99. This is standard ice cream, I think the hype is behind the varieties, milkshakes, scoops, cones, bowls and a 100 flavors. And now that Rite Aid is closed and the competitors are higher priced. I kinda get it. I probably will not return. Chocolate chip and coffee chip barely had chocolate chips. The chocoholic chocolate was loaded with chips. I can buy Thrifty ice cream in the store and check out faster. This did not taste homemade to me. I gave three stars because. Good ice cream. I don't think I've had bad ice cream. Hand crafted ice cream in the AV? What in the miracle? They definitely live up to their name. Husband and I had them 3 times already and still plan to come back. So far we've tried the following flavors: Vanilla Strawberry Spouse Like a House Monkey Business Banana Cream Pie Pumpkin Cheesecake Horchata The flavors are all really good. I was sus bc I don't normally like caramels or ice cream with overly mixed things in it, but Handel's does it right. Spouse Like a House in particular is a beautifully malted vanilla with chocolate pb pretzels in it laced with a little bit of caramel and although it sounds like it would be unbearably sweet, it wasn't. If you like banana like us, the banana ice creams are AMAZING and a must. It's real banana not that nasty artificial sweet tart banana stuff. Horchata was very creamy and cinnamony. Delicious! Pumpkin was off for me as it was a bit tart and didn't taste like pumpkin, but hubby loved it and said the opposite. It reminded him of Halloween, lol. The vanilla and strawberry were ok though as they were not as creamy, but the flavor is there. They supposedly make the ice creams daily so maybe it was just slightly less creamy batch. They offer a lot of different choices and you get what you pay for. A small is already like almost 2 cups of ice cream and I can't imagine what a large would be - a pint and a half maybe?! I highly recommend getting the 4 scoop sampler though so you can try as many flavors as you want. Get a waffle cone on the side too and their brownie bits are super yummy! Service is great. The team was super nice and smiley and they were fairly quick. My only thing is I would prefer if they wore gloves when scooping and take them off if running the registers too. Ambiance - The storefront is just a window for us patrons and a line that wraps around the corner. You can see the team working and scooping.
