Frequented this place over the years. I appreciate the seasonal menus of speciality drinks. Nice calmer setting, especially when they aren't too packed and can find a seat. Went last night after a show and had a fun surprise when my drink was served. Creative talented bartenders here! The drink was good! Def give them a try when you are down at Palafox.

Came here on the 4th of July after a crowded night downtown. It was a nice reprieve. We were seated at the bar and immediately served. The bartender we had was nice and made an excellent whiskey sour. They have a large variety of whiskey but nothing too fancy. The prices are great and fair. Decent music - moreso soft rock with some currents and classics mixed in. They know how to make actual cocktails here unlike everyone else in the area. I would recommend if you want a nicer drink.

Not a whiskey gal but loved my experience at Old Hickory. The ambiance is moody and the bar is so impressive, love the little ladder that made it feel vintage. The service was incredible, the bartender went above and beyond to explain the drinks and make my friend an old fashioned to her liking. The martinis I had were incredible, I asked for a spicy martini and got exactly that and it was delicious. Only thing I will say is the booths didn't look super comfy, they look like they were designed for easy cleaning rather than comfort which I can't fault them for.

I regret that we didn't stop here sooner! This place is spot on and can make some serious cocktails! The service was superb and well informed! A classic setting for a cocktail bar! We enjoyed two or three each while learning more about the craft. Highly recommended! Stop in and enjoy yourself!

Rye Old Fashioned and some fruity thing my wife got. Both were great!

There's no aspect of a bourbon bar that Old Hickory doesn't nail. From the dark interior and the ambiance to the bourbon selection everything is top notch. One time I when I was there they had the owners of Belle Meade in there doing a presentation. This is one of the places I always drop in when I'm in Pensacola. The downtown area in Pensacola in general is very underrated.

Absolutely amazing variety. Friendly & Quick service. Beautiful display & nice touch with seating options.

This place is the best! Michael, the bartender is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. So many whiskeys (and more). We will be back!

Went here off of a recommendation from the local cigar shop. The service and ambience were incredible. As someone that considers themselves a scotch and bourbon snob this place was like heaven on earth. I sampled a few different scotches and spoke to the very knowledgeable bartender. I would highly recommend going here if you like Bourbon or scotch.

Warm and vibey bar with a great selection of drinks. We enjoyed sipping and listening to the music.

The Old Hickory is one of our go-to bars in downtown Pensacola. It's a craft bar with a nice laid back and casual atmosphere. The bartenders are very nice and helpful, most importantly they make incredible drinks. We spend a lot of time in New Orleans and have grown accustomed to how many craft bars there are. I've waited a long time to be able to choose which one here in Pensacola I want to go to. I truly dislike muddled oranges and maraschino cherries in my old fashions and regular bars seem to do that. How more 1970 can you get? All I need is a good bourbon, simple syrup, bitters and an orange peel squeezed over a lit match as it is held over the the cocktail. A little zip around the rim, and then "plop" into the drink the peel goes. Perfection! Large ice is appreciated but not a requirement. H.S. really likes the varied cocktail menu here. There's lots of craft choices, some with different herbs flavoring or scenting the drinks, others with some pretty crazy flavor combinations. I believe the business allows the bartenders to come up with choices for the menu which is really cool. The menu also changes so frequently that she has completely new choices each time we go.

We saw flying adverts for this place while at the beach, so we figured why not?…read more We found it pretty easily and it gives a very comfortable vibe, so dress up or down they will welcome you in. Our server, Michael was absolutely wonderful. (Plus he has amazing hair!) Anyway, we started with my Smoked Old Fashioned (It was ok, bartender went a little heavy on the bitters, and I should've asked for Bulleit Rye but that was my bad.) Anyway, Honey got a Black and Blue. Both came out super quick and we were instantly refreshed. We chose to sit in the patio bc the weather was nice and not too hot or cold. It was just right. We started with the ColCannon Boxty Appetizer. It is small balls of shredded potatoes that are fried, and come with a delish aioli dipping sauce. We chose to split the Shepherds pie for our main course. The meat gave me meat loaf vibes but with a ground beef texture and a unique aftertaste.. It was good, just the texture is unique! It came with a small portion of the Brown Bread with Garlic butter. It was good! We asked for more Garlic butter. It was delicious! We would've ordered a Creme Brûlée but we were both stuffed. It was overall a great place and we will visit it again. A must visit if you are in Orange Beach!

Coming for dinner on a Friday night, we were definitely concerned about getting a spot to eat. Parking is definitely limited, but we were pleased to find there was no way for a table outside. The weather was lovely and the music piped outside (often featuring Irish artists such as one of my favorites, Hozier!) made the whole atmosphere perfect. The inside is cute (albeit dim) and fulfills the pub fantasy. The ladies' restroom was clean. Our waitress was cheerful and fun. It took a little while for her to come get our drink order but after that she was johnny on the spot. The other waitstaff was friendly and professional too. My parents split the fish and chips, I got the chicken pot pie, and we split a side of colcannon. The sweet tea I had to drink was a little on the unsweet side for me, but I often find that's the case at restaurants on the gulf...further evidence that Florida/the gulf area is fundamentally different from the rest of the Deep South. Lol. My parents definitely enjoyed the fish and chips overall. I think my dad was hoping for a little more salt/seasoning in the fish breading but my mom was VERY pleased with hers. I'd never had colcannon before and thought what we got was just alright, figuring it wasn't really for me. My mom, who's tried it a few times different places, said she'd had a lot better. It had a pretty strong beer taste from the gravy on top. I'd be curious to try it again somewhere else and see how it compares. The shining star of the night was definitely my chicken pot pie. The crust was delightfully brown, the chicken was succulent and plentiful, and the sauce it swam in with the tender veggies was super flavorful and aromatic. It was perfect for a very slightly chilly evening. The brown bread served with it was absolutely delightful too, warm and rich and topped with delicious herb butter. I could easily eat a whole loaf. This was a great meal! Thanks for a unique and tasty dinner in Gulf Shores! I highly recommend the chicken pot pie to anyone considering it. :)

The service was also a highlight--our food came out quickly, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food just didn't meet expectations. The cheese fries sounded promising because the fries themselves were crispy and well-seasoned, but the cheese topping had an unpleasant flavor that completely overwhelmed the dish. The wings were another disappointment since they arrived without any sauce, leaving them pretty bland. The ranch was decent, but nothing memorable. On the positive side, the pretzels were warm, soft, and easily the best thing we ordered. While I appreciated the fast service and laid-back atmosphere, the inconsistent food quality made this one a miss for me. There's potential here, but based on this visit, I'd probably choose another spot next time.
