The last three times I ordered food here it wasn't good at all. I got fish n chips last night for St.Pattys day and it was so soggy and the oil tasted old. We stopped in for dinner just to try a new place. It was well worth it. It happened to bingo night and although not packed it was full. It has a casual laidback atmosphere of an Irish pub and American sports bar. Our server was friendly and attentive although a bit slow but that's due to so many people. We had bangers and mash and Shepard's pie. The bangers were what were remembered from being in Scotland. The Shepard's pie was rich with a tad too much salt. Servings were plentiful. Week long excursion at the beach- this was the worst meal I have experienced. I guess if you were drinking it might seem ok. I ordered the Cuban and I am still trying to figure out how you can burn the pork yet still have zero smoke flavor. My wife had a French dip it was as salty and flavor free as my sandwich. Great food and beer was fairly priced. The service was okay at best. The servers seemed to get annoyed every time they were asked anything. Not a good place to watch football unless you are wanting to watch the one game they choose to show. 10 tv's outside and 5 had the same game while the other 5 had 3 different games that weren't even prime games. Handley's is truly the best kept secret in Carolina Forest. I absolutely adore their buffalo chicken dip, big private booths and old English charm. This is a laid back, older looking pub. It has tv's in the booths and several tv's in the bar area. It also has a pool table and a separate room open to the outside. Service was good at the bar. The burgers are huge and delicious. It is family friendly. They have bingo nights which are so much fun. A decent happy hour and they have a late night menu. Great location. I have been twice and have enjoyed it both times. Have both indoor and outdoor seating. However it does get kind of loud so just be prepared. read more

Went along for Trivia night and a bite to eat, top notch all round. Excellent service, the food was really good, the fish and chips were fried to perfection and the pork loin was wonderful. My wife and I ate there today. We are trying to find a restaurant that serves authentic English style fish and chips. This establishment seems to focus more on the pub and less on the grub. When we received our order of fish and chips, the french fries were so overcooked they were inedible and when the replacement fries arrived they were way undercooked. We were not happy with the the fact that smoking was allowed in both the bar area and the semi-enclosed patio area (where trivia was played). I can't say enough good things about the food at Handley's. It's consistently good and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning because of the poor service I received recently. Our waitress, Amanda, was by far the most unprofessional and inappropriate servers I've ever had. Not only was she flirting with everyone at our table, she disclosed WAY too much information about herself with us. It was uncomfortable and completely unacceptable. It went as far as her showing us the gentlemen she was sleeping with who also happened to be at the bar. Someone should let her know that there's a time and place for everything.
