My experience here has been nothing but great results so far. The staff is Amazing. Ive only been there 3 weeks and I've a seen improvement in my legs. When you enjoy what you do it shows. I'm happy to have sessions at this location. The gym is allow clean and sanitize. The staff is patience with their patients and I see the connection that the staff has with their clients. There aren't a lot of good physical therapy offices in Astoria to begin with. I chose this one because they are a bit more established than the others in the area. This place isnt great either. They're just a little unprofessional in there is lack of proper communication to clients. There is minimal privacy for clients with sensitive symptoms I was lucky I was just going for a shoulder pain but I always felt bad for the older adults. I also don't feel this place has good practices in general. I feel everyone here is very well educated but the way things are navigated and managed doesn't reflect that. Perhaps they are overworked? Not sure. I really did not like the lack of transparency and the lack of communication. I think clients should really be aware of their treatment plan just like how they do it at other doctors. When I asked for more information, something to read, I was dismissed and I think that was an odd response. read more

I brought my dad here for an EMG test and we had quite possibly the best experience ever with Dr. Faizal. My dad was extremely nervous and it took me almost a month to be able to get him to even commit to this appointment, however Dr. Faizal brought us in and was so patient and understanding. He walked us through every step of the process and made sure that my dad felt comfortable throughout the procedure. He has PHENOMENAL bedside manner and a great personality when it comes to interacting and communicating with his patients. By the end of the appointment my dad felt so at ease that they were even cracking jokes! Dr. Faizal was so gentle that my dad didn't even feel the needles!! Also let me say that the front desk staff is great. They are super accommodating with appointment times and scheduling. The girls at the front desk were so nice and the check in process was streamlined and efficient. I also have to commend them on Covid protocols, with spaced out chairs in the waiting room and hand sanitizer available in multiple locations throughout the office. What a waste of time. I called yesterday and said my orthopedic doctor had given me a prescription for a plastic splint and evaluation for a fractured wrist. The girl said yeah sure, we have an appointment tomorrow at 2. Perfect. Fast forward to today at 2: after 20 minutes wasted filling out a questionnaire about what abilities are limited due to my injury (including whether my sexual activities are currently limited - unless they're seeing me for a fractured vagina, I have no earthly idea why this is relevant) - the therapist brings me back to the evaluation room and says oh sorry, we don't do splint evaluations. !!!! I SPECIFICALLY told their receptionist yesterday that this was what I needed - I read the script verbatim. Oops, sorry, better luck next time. Luckily Susan Schiliro in Rego Park has availability tomorrow for this because I really can't wait, and she made sure to note they offer what I said I needed. I guess saying what you need once with crystal clarity at Hands On isn't good enough to get what you need. I will go out of my way to tell people not to go to this place. Their front end staff clearly need training on what services are offered. Thanks for completely wasting my time when I have a painful injury and being totally blasé about it, assholes. read more

Since my visit here, I visited several other physical therapist and I have concluded this guy is garbage. He didn't give me any clarity on what is wrong with me and he gave me home exercises that are not effective to develop any lasting change. A serious waste of time and money. As I tried to think of why his exercise recommendations are so bad, I speculate that he was trained a long time ago and is still using knowledge that is outdated. I had been avoiding an old ankle injury but finally decided to face the problem and find relief. Initially, I chose Hands On Physical Therapy because it was fairly close to my apartment, and I am so happy that I did! From the first to last day of my 8 weeks, Blair was always gentle, knowledgeable, and friendly! I also worked with Nessa every morning, she always made my exercises enjoyable with ample conversation and laughs! After 2 months, my injury is practically nonexistent, you will be in good hands if you choose them. The facilities are clean and stocked with everything you could need. Frustrating at how they work. First appointment was yesterday and let me advise you, you don't have your own physical therapist! You have like 4 different ones telling you what to do, when the other steps out or moves on to the next patient. A physical therapist should know exactly what to work on with you, and observe you while your doing the work to notice what you need help on and things they should help you improve but no, your doing exercises that they think of while you jus wait there and have no one to tell you if your doing it wrong or right. Definitely not coming back. This is my second time going here. First time was five years ago. A very friendly staff. Always asking me how I was, and if I was feeling anymore pain. If I was, they would give me tips on stretching at home or the office. A little more attention could be paid at times, but I think that's most places. I've come here for a sprained knee and now a partially torn calf. I've left feeling right both times.They even do a follow up to make sure you're still feeling ok after the completion of your overall therapy. I don't think most places do that. Why aren't there more reviews on this place?!?!? It is the BEST! Last year I had surgery on my spine for a few disc herniations (cervical) and the pain was excruciating. I went to 3 other places for PT and each and every time I walked out with same pain if not worse. I felt hopeless for about 7 months because the pain never subsided and I am an athlete. The moment I stepped foot in Hand's-On Care they greeted me with a warm welcome and every staff member was extremely patient, kind and helpful. Not only do they help with physical pain but emotional as well. They make it enjoyable to be there because of the laughter and the comfort they offer you. They always ask how you feel after doing exercises which shows they really do care! Today I am back on the softball field AND the gym. I've been coming here for a few weeks now and have been very pleased with the results and the service. Sean has been my PT and everyone at hand-on has been very helpful. I came for a right shoulder issue and the exercises I was given have really helped and I'm pretty much back to normal now after only a few weeks. I am very disappointed with my experience at hands-on. I went just 4 times and was seen by 3 different therapists. The only individual who provided me with adequate care was a graduate student. The other two therapists did not have the time to assess my issue and treat it properly. Most of my time there was spent on an arm bike, stim machine, or with an untrained employee who would put me through exercises. My final time there, a young man who was not yet in physical therapy school (and had not studied relevant subject matter in undergraduate school) was identifying exercises for me without direction from a certified PT. The exercises were useless and the visit turned out to be nothing more than a waste of time and money. In short, I would not recommend Hands-On PT at all. They have too many patients and too few trained therapists. read more

This review is a longtime time coming due to various health issues Ive had to deal with, and although they may not remember me,due to the many faces that come and go, I never forgot that they were and I hope to be for the future, should I need them, a very important part of my healthcare team. They are warm, caring ,professionals from the welcoming receptionists up front to administration in the back that a person may pass by in the halls who offer a kind word,( whom a well deserved honorable mention must go out to)which can mean so much, when you are feeling down due to a disabilty and just want it to go away. However,the superstars,are every single uplifting, brilliant physical therapist and technician in between, who have worked with me during my most painful episodes of back and arm spasms due to Multiple Sclerosis as well as Sciatica, which if anyone has expierenced any of these ailments knows just how difficult it can be. I can't express to you what a comfort it was from day one to walk in bent over in pain and have these priceless individuals work with me to lessen or stop the pain and difficulties with mobility to make my daily life better. They believe in you and in that ,cause you to believe in yourself to get better. This unpretentious place is truly a shining star in Astoria and I recommend them without a shadow of a doubt for anyone who needs the help a physical therapist can give.The atmostphere there is relaxed and comforting as they get down to the problem that needs addressing.You simply cant go wrong with this extraordinary group of professionals. While the facility is clean, modern, and well appointed, the real reason to go to Hands On is for the staff -- from the front desk to the therapists, everyone is professional, friendly, and dedicated to their work. While I usually work with Chris and Paolo, other therapists have jumped in to help when Chris wasn't available or my appointment was at a time when he wasn't in. It's a testament to quality of their record keeping that another therapist can pick up where he left off and know what needs to be done to get me moving and feeling better. I came to Hands On after a lumbar disc rupture and nerve pain. After my doctors did an epidural I was much better but advised physical therapy. 6 weeks later I am feeling great. The PTs there are wonderful: Paolo, Chris, Peter, Cecilia, Mary took the time to explain each exercise. They are friendly and helpful and were genuinely concerned with how I felt and how I improved. I came here because I have a fractured ankle. I was experiencing little pain and only had an little issue with balancing. They immediately suggested I get a second opinion since I was wearing a giant moon boot and felt it wasn't needed. The overall physical therapy could probably use more attention but after your second visit you get what you are doing there. I personally enjoyed everyone working there and knew they cared about my outcome. My second opinion showed they were right and that even though my ankle was fractured it didn't hurt and that it was in a part of the ankle that it was never going to regrow bone. All in all it was located close by and I enjoyed going there. read more

Just another pt mill, walked out of my second session after watching my therapist sit around telling people what to do next while not watching what they were doing. Waited an hour to get my co-pay back. Definitely do not recommend this place.
