You'll be hard pressed to find chicken this good, moist, or flavorful, elsewhere. I promise. Service was very fast and extremely pleasant/nice. The store, especially the very, very small customers area needs a deep clean. I won't share the photo of the exhaust/intake vent from the ceiling-because it'll probably be cleaned soon. This place is ALWAYS busy and it's always WORTH IT. there were people in line out the down and near the street (small lot) but they move so quickly they handled the rush pretty well. The out door seating is wonderful and breezy and the dishwasher keeps things tidy. I got the Hella Fitzgerald, which is a sweet potato biscuit with a massive chicken breast, cheddar, gravy, bacon and glory. Their Lupo hot sauce is the only hot sauce I eat. When we got inside, the AC was not on and it turned into a sauna. There was no where to sit outside so we had to sit inside or take it back to the car. All three of the tables inside were dirty and there were flies everywhere. The food wasn't good either. I ordered the hash browns, bacon, and the seared greens. The hash browns were colder than my orange juice. The bacon was soggy. The seared greens were way too spicy and they were tough? It they had been cooked a little longer, I would have enjoyed them more I think. Also, they allowed people to come in there barefoot which kind of grossed me out. When we went to place our orders the guy at the register was very helpful and friendly. I believe I got the Ella Fitzgerald which had chicken, bacon and egg with gravy. As much as I wanted to love it, the flavor was a bit bland. The biscuit was a bit cold. It appears they make a ton in advance any mange they don't hear them up if they move quickly and u get a fresh one. I expected so much more. The person I was with felt the same way. I discovered this place after scrolling through my feed on IG. You know when you SEE good food and hope it tastes as good as it looks? Well, pictures don't do this place justice. While I enjoyed each biscuit, and picking ONE was difficult (obviously since I ordered one of each) and ordering was fun (because of biscuit names) the pickled vegetables from here are THE BEST. The portion for the vegetables was perfect! My cousin and I are official "taste buds" so it was perfect for us to share and still want seconds! Each bite of carrot and cauliflower was crisp AND fresh. I could really talk about them forever... The biscuits are all worth trying but consider eating family style... the biscuits are huge, tall, AND wide. You can bring anyone here! Breakfast in Virginia Beach was spent at this place every day! We stood in Portsmouth and drives by this spot every morning before heading out to grab a very delicious bite! The shorty which is just an egg and cheese was delicious. I'd recommend trying it with their hot sauce. There's a reason they charge extra for the hot sauce, because it's delicious! The hot Betty was also delicious! One of the days I wasn't feeling egg and opted for the peanut butter and jelly. While delicious, it was VERY messy. I heard about this place from another food lover and decided to check them out. They have weird hours (10AM-2PM) so I had to time it right. Boy was I blown away! I had the Hella Fitzgerald, hash browns, and one of the house sodas. The biscuit, the Hella Fitzgerald, is a homemade biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and gravy. Each layer was perfect. The chicken could be sold alone and would be a big hit! The has browns were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was a nice mix of flavors with a good amount of crunch. I'd prefer more crisp but it was tasty. The house soda was a nice surprise. It had plenty of flavor and was very refreshing. Overall I am very impressed with the Handsome Biscuit and would highly recommend it. If I had to gripe I could say the hours don't really work for me and the dining room is a little small. yes. Yes. YES. This place, you guys. Teen-y tiny place with 3 tables and no patio, so be prepared to either (a) shark for tables, or (b) get it to go and eat it in your car. My group and I opted for (a) and got a table within 5 minutes because these biscuit sandwiches are not too big and will be devoured quickly. We saw a group that opted for (b) and since it was a nice day, they had their windows rolled down and pretty little containers to eat out of. I finally got the chance to travel to Norfolk this weekend to check this place out. The wait in line was definitely worth it. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Hella Fitzgerald with a side order of hash browns (with some of their hot sauce for me to try). Now we see why this is probably their most popular item on the menu. The red eye gravy and cheese definitely complimented the chicken. Now I never imagined you can make sweet potato biscuits but this place really did a great job. Not too heavy of a taste of sweet potato in the biscuit but well done. This place here definitely deserves the high reviews on Yelp. Next time we come back, I'm gonna try the PB&J sandwich. read more

I may be the only sheep that's not following the herd here... but I really didn't think this place was that great and or special from any other biscuit place. I had high hopes due to the high rated reviews and a few of my friends visiting this place and saying it was one of the best biscuits they have ever had and I was sadly disappointed. This establishment is located on the corner of a very unassuming neighborhood. There doesn't seem to be much going around them. We were about the 10th person in line and it took about maybe 20 mins for us to order. This place gets really packed and the fact that it's really small doesn't really help. They need to change their FOH operations because they only have 1 register to order and that person also makes the specialty drinks of the day. Once you order you can either wait to pick up your food (barely any space to wait) or they call out your name and you can snag one of four tables inside or some benches outside. Me and my friend got the Hella Fitzgerald: fried chicken (dark meat) with bacon, cheddar, and sausage gravy. The biscuit was a little dry and crumbly and not really flavorful. The chicken was about twice the size of the biscuit and had to be eaten with a fork and knife. The chicken was nice and crispy but nothing anything to rave about. My gf got the Stevie and that was also fried chicken with pickles, mustard and honey. She liked it but also had the same sentiments about their biscuit itself. If the workers there think your chicken piece was small, they'll double it up and that's exactly what they did for her and I would consider her biscuit a fried chicken tower. My two reasons why I would give this place a thumbs up is that for the amount of food you get, you really get your moneys worth; and two is that we got a mango dreamsicle drink that day and it was sweet and refreshing. read more

After hearing how amazing this place was from several people, a friend and I decided to try it for brunch. Upon first glance, it looked just like a shack on the side of Colonial Avenue in Norfolk. There isn't a lot of available parking, so be prepared to park on a side street and walk a little bit. As other reviews show, there are only 4 tables and some crates and benches to eat outside when it's warm out. I love how you can takeout in case you can't get anywhere to sit. The menu on the wall was very cute and made it very difficult for me to decide what to order! The guy who took my order recommended the Dill Nana with a bacon because I said I was looking for something a little lighter. I also ordered a side of hashbrowns. The biscuit was so crispy and fell apart in my mouth! I loved the spinach with the mayonnaise, and the bacon made the biscuit a little heartier. I'll definitely have to come back and try some of the other biscuits! I loved how the service was prompt and how friendly and helpful the staff were in helping me make a decision. I love this place, the last time I have door dashed this order it took a little over 30 minutes, but let me tell you I still received my food hot. There are so many options to choose from and I promise you the biscuit is just the right skiing of sweet. As for the specs. I enjoyed the AC Slaughter during my visit. This sandwich is comprised of amazing pulled pork, topped with Apple cole slaw, and a warm biscuit to hold everything together. While not completely impressed by the bread component of the biscuit, the flavor was good, but the moistness was slightly lacking. The frittata was filling, and portions were large (and I may regret this in an hour), but the complexity of flavor and textural heterogeneity within the egg portion was not impressive. Overall, this was a good biscuit, but not stellar compared to other gourmet biscuit shops. The staff were friendly and very helpful through my 10 minute stay, while picking up my biscuit. My sole gripe outside of the biscuit was that the drink I was handed was filled to the brim and a portion of it landed on my already-rain-soaked toes. The boyfriend picked me up a Stevie for my lunch break & by the sound of it I'm glad he brought it over to me because I don't believe I would've made it back to work on time between the tons of people trying their hand at the Handsome Biscuit & the tiny parking lot. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the second time I was actually able to come here the customer service was bleh. I don't know if I'm just sensitive to stares or what have you but I don't appreciate a bitch face when I'm trying to decide what to order, but what can you expect from a Ghent locale. It's a shame.
