    Meatlovers omelette

We stopped by Terrie's for a easy breezy late breakfast, and I thought everything was great. The restaurant has a very Mom n Pop vibe especially with the paper placemats displaying ads from local businesses. Both of our waitress were extremely nice and chatty. For my dining pleasure, I went with the meatlovers omelette, which was served with potatoes and a biscuit. My meal was pretty tasty, and the omelette was loaded with a lot of ham, sausage, and bacon. So, it definitely kept me full for most of the day. The prices are pretty reasonable for the area, I think my breakfast was less than 15 bucks. I'm giving them 4 stars because they didn't use the cheese that I requested for the omelette but it was not a huge deal. I would have brought it up to the waitress, but I was starving and did not want to wait for the kitchen to prepare another omelette. Overall, I highly recommend Terrie's for your breakfast needs. Since I found out about Terrie's from a nearby car dealership. I'll definitely return while getting my car serviced during breakfast and lunch hours.

The parking out front is tight but there's more in the back. Staff is friendly af. Down home mom & pop spot for real. Loved the vibe. Food was tasty like and old school diner vibe. I got everything for under $15. Great place and budget friendly in this day and age.

When you're hungry for some good old fashion breakfast make sure to stop by Terrie's Breakfast & Lunch. It is located off Military Hwy near the dealerships, but don't drive too fast because this is a hole-in-the-wall establishment. This restaurant is a family owned restaurant. There were about 2 waitresses, 2 cooks, and a hostess. It is a very small location, I wouldn't say it fits a party. We ordered a strawberry lemonade mimosa, kids pancake, French toast combo, side of home fries, and a pancake combo. For the price, can't beat it! Also, I saw some reviews say they are cash only. This is false. They have added a credit card machine.

I stopped by today for a quick bite to eat for lunch and everything was wonderful. I decided to try the Club Sandwich with French Fries. This is a real Club Sandwich (properly served with 3 pieces of bread) piled high with Ham, Turkey and Bacon. All of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The French Fries came out piping hot and they were awesome. You can pay a lot more for food around town and not get the quality that you receive here.

I enjoyed my experience at this spot. I has a warm atmosphere and the server we had was very inviting. Our food was hot and tasted good. I am giving 4 stars because they have a limited menu. Other than that I will be returning because it is super close to me house :-)

Today's craving was a good ol fashion Juicy burger and not a fast food one. I decided to give Terries a try. They didn't fail me. I normally just get breakfast sandwiches from here. They have me sold on lunch now. This burger was just like making one at home minus the clean up and the lingering grease smell in your house.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

In 2023, they closed their original location of Shore Drive and set sights on a new local which was expanded. They have finally reopened and we got a chance to stop in to see how they were doing. Let's check it out shall we? We were seated a minute after walking in. There were a few people dining inside on this cloudy day. The decor is nice resembling a type of restaurant you may see in New Orleans. Right when I was looking through the menu, I ran into Chef Moe who greeted me with a handshake. It has been years since we last saw each other but the vibes came right back since Sophia and I were long-standing customers. We couldn't talk long since he was busy, but it was great to run into him again smiling from ear to ear seeing me there. Great people indeed. How was the food you might ask? Pretty damn good. We both ordered their fried catfish meals with sides (mine came with fries and sweet cornbread and Sophia's with mashed potatoes and gravy and mac-and-cheese). The fish was seasoned perfectly and was huge. It was big enough to cover a football field (just kidding). The fries, as always, tasted great and the cornbread was delish. The both of us ended up taking home leftovers where the food didn't lose any taste from before. It was so refreshing to stop by after so many years. And it was wonderful seeing Chef Moe continue to bring good vibes to the Norfolk community through his cooking. You know we'll be back soon. Till next time :)

The atmosphere definitely makes a good first impression. As far as the food and customer service, everything was just okay for me. I ordered the shrimp, fish, crab cakes, and chicken wings. The crab cakes were mostly bread, which was a little disappointing. The wings were okay overall, but one of the wings was extremely feathery, so that definitely threw me off. One thing I would recommend is giving customers a little more sauce/condiments. I asked for vinegar to go with my shrimp, fish, and crab cakes, and I received what was basically a teaspoon of vinegar. I definitely needed more than that! I will say, I think I enjoyed Mama's Kitchen more at their previous location. I used to get a variety of their food (with the exception of the macaroni), and I remember enjoying it more. Maybe I just caught them on an off day, so I'd be willing to give them another try and see if my experience is different next time. Overall, the new location is beautiful, but the food was just okay for me this time around.

The restaurant was fairly empty, with only three other tables occupied, so we were surprised by the length of the wait. Our two canned Sapporos didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after ordering. After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the combination of the slow service, poor communication, unavailable menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.

We arrived about 4pm and the parking lot was kind of full but it still was a spot available for us. We walked in was greeted promptly and we had the option to sit inside or Dine Outdoors...knowing myself I love an outdoor adventure so outdoors we went... The Hostess mentioned they have a bridge that was open as well and I believe the bridge is open on Fridays and Saturdays if I'm not mistaken ... nevertheless we decided to dine on the bridge this past Friday. Omg so so so in love!! I can make this review probably about 2 pages long but I'll cut it short for you. Our super cute waitress Haley was the best... attentive informative personable a gem and made our first experience all the more amazing. We did ask for suggestions... she made suggestions for us... I ordered a cocktail and my bestie ordered a beer. My cocktail was just ok but he loved his beer of choice. We didn't want to order anything that was going to be heavy so we decided to split the Godfather Pizza and OMG it was so good so good. We knew we were returning before his departure. Here we are again Sunday during brunch hours and this time we invited another bestie it's a trio yes! We arrived about 2:00 p.m. and still decided to dine outdoors. I believe the bridge wasn't open for whatever reason on Sunday nevertheless we were able to sit on the patio. Our lovely waitress Katie was super as well. Haley and Katie kind of look like twins so I was like okay this experience will probably hit the same as Friday and needless to say it did. Katie was super awesome as well ...super attentive super patient I mean New River these two ladies are keepers and Katie shared with us that she's getting married soon so congratulations again pretty girl. Even though brunch was taking place you are still able to order pizza from the lunch / dinner menu. We ordered the Godfather again of course we ordered the chicken Parmesan pizza I forgot the name of that and the Hawaiian pizza all of them were good but my favorite on this go around was the chicken Parmesan pizza. I ate all of it even though we did share slices amongst us all the Godfather is definitely a close second. We tried the Mimosa flight it was okay I'm not a mimosa girl but the other two in my party they enjoyed it. I did have a glass of the Pinot Noir wine I'm definitely a red wine girl so the wine was right on time...right up my alley. We decided we love it here and when my bestie is visiting from Florida he already said this place is a must dine.
