Hughie patched in some stucco for us on an exterior wall surrounding our electrical breaker box in December 2022 and we are not only 100% pleased with the work he did but also the brief amount of time it took and final rate we were charged. I had contacted other vendors but none were as fair in their price quotes or ultimately as reliable as Hughie. We are especially glad we had this completed before winter rains began. I found him in a Neighbor to Neighbor booklet never used him before had a leak from a copper pipe in my garage in the ceiling. He came over the next day and I told him the leak was from the copper pipe the day before and he disappeared to his truck for ten minutes to find his torch to no avail when he knew he needed it to fix the problem. So, he referred me to a plumber who came over shortly after he was done and was there for around 40 minutes and charged me $250.00 which of course I would not have had to pay that if Hughie had the torch that he was suppose to make sure he had with him. Also, the next morning went to check on the leak and there was another very small leak on the ground from the same pipe on the other end do not understand how he missed it because it had a green stain on it which the one that was leaking bad had since he was working on the ceiling cutting away the dry wall and removing the nails? I sent him a text to see if he would do the right thing and come back and fix the leak at no charge and never heard back from him if you are wise do not use him? read more

WOW. SO impressed. We had to get a replacement fridge and when it was delivered, let's just say.... it didn't "quite" fit. Enter Hughie- on a Sunday- at lunchtime- w/ a plan and some very welcomed reassurance. He not only took my call, but also said he could come by w/ his tools and fix it ASAP. He was here w/in 20 minutes- tape, saw and some other impressive metal thingy in hand- and finished up w/in an hour. Amazing! It was just a few days before Christmas and Hughie was the only one of 10 services we called that answered or called back. We needed to redo the sealant in all of our showers. It's a rather small task, but without it we would have bigger leaking issues. Hughie quoted $350 for all showers but when he came, he only charged us $300. Hughie is honest and does great work. Hughie is true Jack of All Trades in the best sense! He can do it all. Prompt/thorough communication, shows up when he says he will, and does excellent work. One of my projects required additional materials, and a second visit to finish (he came first thing the next day) and he didn't take advantage and inflate his price. Repaired double hung windows original to my 1920s house. Installed new ceiling fixtures. Reattached some tiles that had fallen off of outdoor stair risers. A previous handyman had simply glued back in place - a fix that only lasted a few years. Hughie did it the right way - filed off the old mortar, and reattached with fresh mortar. Hugh worked at my house in Westchester for the last 2 days. This was his first job at my home. His quality of work is excellent. Projects include fixing broken draws, built and replaced a wooden deck that was in bad shape. Also repaired a sliding closet door, and hung on the wall 2 TVS in a couple of rooms plus replaced 3 ceiling fans. We have used dozens of contractors and handymen over the years, but Hughie is head and shoulders the best. He is a "big picture" thinker who envisions the entire end result, rather than someone who does one small project in a vacuum only to later have an "oops" moment when there are snafus arising from a lack of coordination between multiple projects. Hughie works hard, efficiently, carefully, cleanly, precisely, and cost-effectively. He is dependable, sometimes available on a Saturday, and reasonably priced as well. He oversaw and handled a full kitchen remodel for us---from demolition of the old kitchen, to installation of new cabinets, tile, sink, fixtures, and appliances. He also brought in qualified sub contractors to handle the plumbing and electrical. We love the way the end result turned out! Hughie also handled smaller projects for us---creating a closet from open space--- and doing odds and ends around the house that required his expertise and skill. All quality work at a reasonable price.
