I then suggested that we come back to Kitsilano but try Kokomo instead since I had some plant based deals for Kokomo and they sell the same kind of stuff. So we came and used out both my plant based deals. One was a BOGO free deal on summer drinks, and the other was 25% of any Kokomo bowl. My daughter got a Hibiscus lemonade, I got a Spearmint lemonade and we shared a Kokomo acai bowl which had frozen acai, berries, banana, raw granola (house-made), mint and toasted coconut. The drinks weren't bad but I wasn't blown away by them either. They were refreshing and thirst quenching for the hot summer day that it was. Don't think I need to try Spearmint lemonade again though. This was our first time trying and Acai bowl, and we are totally hooked on them now! I wanna learn how to make this at home now. It was so refreshing. Is there anything more satisfying than eating something that's healthy and tastes good too?! I suppose you could also just call it a smoothie bowl. As much as we enjoyed this combination, I could see us having a similar type of bowl at home and substituting the acai with some other kind of pureed fruit. 5/5 for the Kokomo acai bowl! After a few days, we both began experiencing stomach aches and fatigue that could not be ignored. As the days went on the intense abdominal pain I was experiencing became much worse over time leading to when I received emergency medical attention. My physician was able to diagnose the severe abdominal pain as a degree of Salmonella from undercooked chicken. Being that both myself and my friend ate together at the same time and began feeling symptoms around the same time, we were able to narrow down where the Salmonella came from. As a personal trainer, I used to recommend this place to many clients. But after this experience, I feel its important to share my story so nobody else has to experience this type of attack on the body. Think twice before you risk eating here.

It's bright, clean, quite spacious and there's free parking on the street. I had birthday freebie to redeem from Oakberry. So for the bday offer, it's a Classic size Acai bowl. In the past I have always ordered the larger size, so this was my first time trying the Classic size. It doesn't look very large but it was actually still quite filling. (imho) This was the first of several offers this year where I discovered that I needed to actually place the order on the app in order to redeem the offer. I never had to do this before. In the past, I could just hit "redeem" or some button like that and then just tell the person at the counter what I wanted. This year...it seems a lot of places want you to actually use the app to fill in the order. So I had to choose the size, and all the toppings on the app itself, and then add a promo code to the order to get the freebie. The lady at the shop was very friendly and helpful. I love that this place is an actual shop and not just a stall inside a shopping mall. Highly recommend this location. If we had more Oakberry shops like this one, I think I'd be heading to Oakberry more often. It's healthy and tasty, which is such a great combination. My daughter was with me again and she seemed as surprised as I was at how frozen the acai in our bowls was. It was like a hard lump of sorbet that we needed to really mash up with our spoons in order to be able to scoop it up. Thankfully this time, it was a hot summer day so my body was much happier with this frozen acai than it had been on our previous visit to this location of Kokomo. My daughter ordered some kind of Cherry soda drink and I ordered a London Fog made with Macadamia Milk. I was trying to be adventurous by choosing the Macadamia Milk but having tried it, I have a feeling I'd have been better off sticking with tried and true Oat Milk as I wasn't too crazy about my drink with the Macadamia milk in it.
