Charming old school bar in the Waldorf Astoria! We snagged 2 bar seats and our bartenders were super friendly and engaging. The place filled up pretty quickly. We tried 2 different sazeracs (popular drink in NOLA). I liked my coffee based one slightly better. Really cute ambiance and perfect for a pre or post dinner drink!

It wouldn't be a trip to NOLA without a stop here. Beautiful hotel, elegant bar, and great people watching. Its wooden decor like an old fashioned men's club, and for a bar its quiet. Drinks are priced as they would be in any nice place. People watching at its finest.

A MUST DO IN NEW ORLEANS! If you like a good Sazerac, then you have to visit this historic bar in the Roosevelt Hotel. Great vibes!

The Ramos Gin Fizz at the Sazerac Bar was delicious - light, frothy, and super smooth with a subtle citrus flavor and just a hint of sweetness. Definitely on the pricier side, but worth trying at least once for the experience.

Rachel was not only kind and efficient but she makes a mean dirty martini (Belvedere) with blue cheese stuffed olives. She's efficient and pleasant too. She made my experience at the Sazarac Bar lovely and wonderfully boozy. The ambience boasts beautifully decorated walls with people of color in the market place. There's also a vast bar with much to offer even the most discerning drink connoisseurs. It is definitely an experience to have when in New Orleans.

Visited the Sazerac Bar while in New Orleans. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, truly a time capsule to another era -- dark walnut paneling, glowing chandeliers, and an intimate setting that still feels effortlessly chill. This place has long been a cornerstone of the city, and you can feel the history the moment you walk in. The service was exceptional; the bartenders were clearly skilled, attentive, friendly, and efficient. I also received excellent hospitality from Patricia, the food and beverage manager, which really elevated the experience. Tried the classic cocktails -- beautifully balanced and expertly crafted. Overall, a must-visit New Orleans institution and absolutely worth returning to. Saluti

First bar stop in the beautiful city of New Orleans! Charming and dark interior with lovely staff. Concise menu and our drink order came with some bar snacks - trail mix and ginger chews. We practically ordered half the menu- the Ramos Gin Fizz, the Gold Rush, the Hugo Girl, the Chocolate Cherry Bomb, the Coco Loco, and the Hurricane. All delicious and unique- you can't go wrong with anything you order. A must try during your next Nola trip!

This is supposed to be the best place to get a Sazerac in New Orleans, and it wasn't bad. I'll say I preferred the Napoleon House's version to this one, but to each their own. It was fairly crowded around 10p on a Friday night, but we found a spot at the bar with two stools for 8 people (insert joke here). Most of us ordered Sazerac's and nobody was impressed. The Chocolate version was good but didn't have the essence of a Sazerac. Other cocktails were OK but everything was waaaaaaay too expensive if you ask me. I get it, it's in a nice hotel and they're trying to be opulent. but $22 for a basic Sazerac seems a bit high. Bottle Service at a club is a better value! If you're looking for it, it's inside the Roosevelt Hotel (Waldorf Astoria) not too far South of Canal St.

When my friends are in town we always end up at the Sazerac Bar, especially during the holidays when the lights are up at the Roosevelt. Instead of just ordering a Sazerac I decided to look in their menu and found a coffee Sazerac that I decided to try (I love coffee in all forms!). I found it to be very delicious and more smooth than the usual Sazerac. The bartenders are all very nice and seating is hard to come by, but if you wait a bit you can sometimes snag a table.

While the Sazerac is the official cocktail of New Orleans, this is the only proper place to get one if you are trying it for the first time. Having a Sazerac from The Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt hotel is the gold standard. The only cocktail, in my opinion, embodies New Orleans. Th service here is top notch. From the moment you step inside the Art Deco elegance of the room, you're met with a quiet sophistication. This hotel bar is a must if you decide to have a go at a Sazerac.

A beautiful, classy, mysterious dark bar located inside The Roosevelt Hotel. If you are one who wants to try the famous Sazerac Cocktail, this is the best place to get it. They make it with pride and sophistication. You would think the service would be uptight but they were very friendly and helpful. I get to try the famous Ramos Gin Fizz as well for the first time. This is more inline with my cocktail palate. A little more sweeter and refreshing than the bold Sazerac.

Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .

The decor is very French Quarterish, intimate, and exactly what you'd expect from a classic New Orleans cocktail bar. I'm a big fan of sitting at the bar, so as soon as I walked in, it was time to camp out at my favorite spot. Food wasn't on my mind today, so if you're here for a food review, you might want to skip this one . This was strictly a drinks only mission. At first, the bartender was a guy I recognized from Cure, which instantly set the tone. the bartenders there actually know their craft, so I already felt like I was in good hands. Then Zari entered the scene. I'm not sure if she was just getting on shift or wrapping it up, but she completely elevated the experience. I told her I'm a gin person (heavy on the gin), and instead of giving generic suggestions, she actually tailored recommendations to my taste. I ended up ordering the Clover Club cocktail, and it did not disappoint. Balanced, refreshing, and beautifully crafted exactly what I want from a gin-based drink. Then came my bonus round: a shot of Song Cai Dry Gin from Vietnam. Clean, botanical, and surprisingly smooth, definitely not your average gin. If you're into spirits with gumption, this one is worth trying. Peychaud's delivers: the drinks. The vibe is solid, the bartenders know their craft, and the gin selection is impressive.
