I've been going to The Orange store forverrrr. I mean Pre-Katrina forever. When I was a kid I would order a hot sausage and egg on French. I still to this day love to order that same meal from The Orange store. Although not as good as it used to be, still pretty good and it's so much nostalgia when I eat it. I don't love the new management, but never truly had a problem w| them.

There is touristy New Orleans - and then there's the working class, local, every day New Orleans - corner store po boys and bodega style places off the main strip. Po boys were created for poor people, the working class. The French Quarter is like a disney land version of the culture beyond the borders. You can find so many gas stations, corner stores and the like outside the city like this selling GIANT po boys, New Orleans dressed, for waaaaay cheaper than what you find in the strip. I like supporting families who own their business and not just the big corporate places that are all owned by the same people on the strip. If you want to experience New Orleans for real, step outside the quarter.

The first time I came in my brain couldn't make sense of this place. It looks like a house, but I found it online by searching for a grocery store. They didn't have much in the way of grocery items. No produce, in fact the shelves were half empty, but there was an entire wall dedicated to t-shirts and hats? And then there was a kitchen in the back...with po boys? Yes, po boys. This ended up being the last thing I ate on a flight out of the city. I always try to grab a little something for the plane ride, and in a rush ordered the shrimp po boy, not knowing the amazing quality of the meal I was about to enjoy miles in the sky. Damn. I wish I had more to say, I know this is one of my favorite po boys in the city (right up there with Verti Marte). The fry on that shrimp was so perfectly textured and seasoned, I miss this sandwich so much. They also serve breakfast, fried chicken, and Chinese food.

Great inexpensive food. Was told to get the shrimp poboy and it really lived up to the hype! Also got the burger and mandarin chicken...all great too! Ask for the teriyaki drizzle on the fries...so good! Staff was nice and food came out fast. Also, one of the few places open 24 hours a day.

DON'T EXPECT TO MAKE GROCERIES HERE unless you want canned refried beans or Argo corn starch...

I PAID $16 BUT THREW $9 OF IT AWAY. Yes, the shrimp po'boy here is both markedly delicious and cheap ($6.99 for a 12-inch) but quality at Rampart goes no further. The fries are limp as if steamed. The burger is institutional, mostly a stale bun drenched in condiments and its jacked-up patty is only 1/16th of an inch thick (see photo). But where Rampart really fails is its petri-fried "terrya" wings, they're inedible, essentially just skin with bones. QUEUED AT 3:28 PM, FINALLY GOT FOOD AT 4:12 PM. SURLY EMPLOYEES. CASH ONLY. WAY BETTER NEARBY TAKE-OUT OPTIONS... Shrimp Po'boy: Melba's, Verti Marte Wings: Vieux Carré Pizza, Manchu, Wing Snack Fries: Quarter Grocery Cheeseburger: Nellie Deli, Buffa's NB: "dressed" here includes mustard, even on the shrimp po'boy, WTF???

Barely spent anything versus paying double for half of what I got at Rouses in the hotel "market." Shop local. Support the community where you're visiting. Isn't that the point of going to a city? To take it in and support it instead of just supporting big chains?! The cashier was super sweet and friendly and we chatted about cats and dogs lol Prices. Good. Location. Good. Rouses. Good.

I come to central deli whenever I'm with someone not from New Orleans due to the fact their muffuletta is quintessential! I would like to reiterate nothing was wrong with the food , great food purely with the lady taking orders. I got a classic half muffuletta and a "glass" San pellegrino. The lady then told me open glass is prohibited in New Orleans , I retorted with "o really I didn't know that , since when?" Before I could finish The lady then yelled with "SINCE FOREVER, IM SORRY YOUVE BEEN TO BAD BARS WHERE THEY SERVE YOU GLASS ITS BEEN ILLEGAL SINCE THE 50s" which isn't true the city changed the law in 2001. She then proceeded to open my glass bottle even though I told her I didn't want it open, so I the asked if I could get another one since she was in rage mode and didn't understand that she just contradicted herself. As I asked for the second San Pellegrino, she then takes the first one and goes "NO PROBLEM THANKS FOR THE FREE DRINK", and starts to drink the San Pellegrino infront of me as I check out, making thirst quenching noises like "AHH". As I leave she can't help but remind me for her free drink again. I'm pretty sure the management witness this whole situation and I hope they do something about, that lady doesn't realize what hospitality is and needs to be fired. I did nothing to her and I bet I wasn't the first she has blow up on. But in my eyes absolutely unacceptable.

After being cursed out for four hours I threw one single mochi ice cream(and unfortunately missed) that I purchased in the store on top of several other items throughout the parade. Nopd got involved and an employee(curly hair/woman/a bunch of metal in her face) claimed I was "criminally trespassing" despite buying over $100 in groceries that the police ended up confiscating AFTER bashing my head into the wall(there were two ribeyes, a large bag of jelly beans, expensive cheese, olive oil, and garlic in those bags). While I was trying to reason with the employee and explain what happened and that I was being harassed. She refused to give me her name and that's when I was manhandled by NOPD and my head went straight into the wall.....The next night I got permission from Eric the GM to purchase groceries and be on the steps as a customer. She was in the store off the clock in booty shorts and tried to start an argument with me for the second time. I reported this to headquarters but never got a response. I am now escalating this to a local attorney as a civil rights case. Not only did they allow police brutality to happen at the store, I am also on the autism spectrum with ADHD and the way they handled this incident was absolutely discriminatory in that respect. For the record, this happened after I was complying with the first request to leave and I was getting my stuff together on the table in my bag. My charges were also dropped a few weeks ago as I was given court summons before I was transported to oschner Baptist for a head CT. I have been having recurring headaches that I need to see a neurologist about since this incident.

We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
