Other companies either took way too long to reply to calls or certainly were not the most innovative people to deal with. We previously worked with one landscaper to develop a design for the entire yard - back and front. While it took much longer than anticipated, it helped to give us a visual layout. This experience however, also gave us the necessary input to realize we did not want to continue working with that organization. The quote from SonoranScapes was the most competitive we received. The work was to complete implementation in both back and front of our property and James's quote encompassed all the work we wanted without cutting any corners. We were quoted nearly twice as much from other organizations. We had a few concerns about the design we had, and James was able to provide us with some great alternatives and suggestions to make the end project look outstanding. He was incredibly easy to work with, flexible and always responsive to any questions we had. We would also mention that James is very "hands-on", besides being onsite most of the time and very involved in the actual work. The SonoranScapes team was great throughout the entire process - they were prompt, respectful, professional, and most importantly delivered a STELLAR final product. James answered all our questions and checked in with us on a regular basis about the progress, and any updates. We couldn't have asked for anything more! Thomas Cary Design did a very large backyard remodel for us (100K). His design and understanding…read moreof how we use the space was great. We went with him because of his innovative ideas and creative design structure. The yard is beautiful, but it took much much longer than was quoted, is not fully done and has many issues that are apparently not Cary's problem. First we were supposed to start January of 2021 but we were delayed due to rain. Then a crew came and demo'd the yard which began our 9+ months of living in dust. Once the work began there would only be a crew of 2 or 3 guys working on this project. Why the irrigation team and the stone layers etc can't work at the same time is unknown to me other than Cary has his team spread thin on many jobs. We ordered a hot tub when he told us we should and it sat for months waiting to be put in. Fast forward to October when things are still not done. I am only able to get this project wrapped up because I created a list and contacted Cary repeatedly to get things done before we had a party. Once the project was "complete" we were still missing two pergolas that Cary had us pay for up front. We basically had to threaten legal action to get our money back for those items. I understand the supply chain was wonky at the time, but I don't like giving someone 16K and having nothing to show for it. Now fast forward a year and a half later and you can see that the quality of the work is lacking. Pipes are starting to stick up, the quality of the tree he brought is sub par, electrical lines are showing, lights around the hot tub are flashing AND the best part is when we told him they didn't create a dedicated line for the pots on the porch (something we REALLY wanted) he told us he would have to dig up the yard--again! We no longer expect him to do anything but we also have no product information on the lights or other systems he purchased and put in so if they do stop working we're left guessing. I feel that Cary is a good designer, but he needs someone to manage his projects for him so he can do what he is good at. The execution and follow up area at a level that I do not find acceptable for the amount of money he charges.

However, after the first visit with the high upfront cost, he says the monthly cost is actually for once a month work instead of the biweekly work as he first stated. The following month, he repeatedly flaked on appointments. He first charged me on Venmo, saying he would come "tomorrow". He never showed up. I ask him again when he will come out and why he didn't show up. He says "first thing tomorrow". Still no show. I reached out again a third time, he says "Saturday". This company is fraudulent and unreliable, avoid at all cost. Response to Owner: Here is a conversation of the owner admitting for over a month, he did not come to service my backyard. After his last message 4/2/2022, he still did not come.

We contacted Neil yesterday for monthly maintenance quote and he said he would be out "tomorrow"…read morebetween 8:30 - 10:30 am. We called after he missed the appointment and he responded that he meant "tomorrow". When I asked what day he thought that means he responded by hanging up. On the first call he said he worked alone and his helper quit. I asked how he can manage blow work with only 1 person, no response. There is something quite wrong with this person, he asks for your address then behaves like this, as he wanted us to call-in his name @ our secure gate access. We plan on informing our Anthem HOA to report this fraudulent activity ASAP.
