We moved our whole house - Took them two trucks. Everyone was polite and efficient. One glass item got broken during packing that they owned up to. Didn't really care about it so no problem. Everything else was moved with no issue. They set the beds up, moved things where we wanted. One item that got moved has a 100+ year old baby grand piano. We also have over 100 pieces of artwork. No issues or complaints at all. Would use them again and recommend them with no concerns. You will be well taken care of. read more

The National moving company our relocation coordinator used contracted with them for our initial unload and we've had subsequent needs back and forth to my son's apartment. They have been 100% reliable, were careful and cautious of furniture and walls/floors, and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them. read more

I have moved 6 times in 5 years all in the Seattle area and this was by far the worst experience. Hansen's crew damaged very noticeably 3 of 4 pieces of our like new $3,000 hardwood bedroom set, deep gouges and scratches. Also, an $800 leather occasional chair that is not heavy had the leather back scratched badly. There also was a new scratch on our coffee table which was the only piece that was every damaged in the previous 5 Moves. I am going back to the small firm based in Kirkland for the future 30% less expensive. My spouse insisted on not using them due to the scratched coffee table. Now we are super disappointed. Now that he has passed away, I still follow his advice and am seldom disappointed. The big snow storm of 2019 posed some serious challenges regarding my aunts move from Crista to Edmonds Landing but once the move happened, the crew was great. We used them as an Allied subsidiary for our long distance move from Washington State to Colorado. Everything for scheduling was very simple and we didn't have any issues. However, once the movers showed up to our house to load onto the truck we were very confused. They sent out a box truck instead of a semi which we were expecting. It was then that we learned our items were going to be loaded onto this box truck, off loaded at a warehouse, and then reloaded onto the semi. Absolutely NO ONE mentioned this prior to our move date. Not the sales person or the moving coordinator. My boyfriend and I were pretty upset about it but there was nothing we could do at this point but we let our moving coordinator know of our hesitation and she assured us they had processes for making sure our shipment would be safe and secure. Well...she was DEAD WRONG. We called about 4 or 5 days after our items had been picked up from our house. We were told that our shipment was going to be delayed by about 4 days. Excuse me? They already had a week and a half to get things delivered and they still couldn't make it on time. Our items arrived four days after the quoted delivery date so we ended up filing a delay claim. Then things got even worse! The truck driver showed up without any movers. We had to wait over an hour for them to finally show up. Once they started offloading we noticed many of our items had been damaged or even broken. We also noticed that some of our furniture items that went onto the truck as whole items were disassembled during the move process without our knowledge or consent. Then we eventually noticed that one of our boxes was missing from our shipment and we had ended up with someone else's box that didn't belong to us. And last but not least we were told that the movers were responsible for reassembling our items that they took apart such as bed frames, racks etc. The movers told us they didn't bring any tools so they had to use OUR tools to put our stuff back together. I am literally irate with this entire moving company and it's so called processes for making sure our items will be safe and secure. They did absolutely nothing to ensure the safety of our items to make sure everything would arrive in one piece. BEWARE OF THIS MOVING COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!! read more

Do not use these people. We were absolutely upfront with our moving plans that included us doing the packing but having a mover load our belonging, take them to storage, and deliver them at a later date once we found our new home. They knew we planned to move at a minimum across the state to the Spokane area and hopefully to southwest Montana. They knew the storage would be for at least 2 months. They presented us with a bid and said the final bill would go up based on the final destination the actual weight of our belongings, and how long our stuff would be in storage. What they never said was that the actual cost to use their services would be more than twice the bid because the bid was only for moving our stuff to storage and there was going to be a completely separate bill to move our belonging from storage to our new home. What did they think, we wanted our stuff moved to storage and were not going to want it back? So now we have to agree to an additional 145% of the original bid to ever see our stuff again. read more

We recently did a full house move from Seattle to Boulder and used Hansen Bros service. From the initial contact to final delivery everything was courteous, thoughtful and professional. Dave came in initially and did a full house walk-through and came up with an estimate for the move. He suggested we could save some $ by packing some items ourselves (PBO) like books, etc., and leaving other more tricky things to them (e.g., the kitchen and fragiles like paintings). During this time Dave would set aside plats of free boxes for me to pick up at their place on Aurora. In addition, he was very prompt answering every odd question I would come up with. We needed to move our truck as well, so Dave gave me the name of a reputable autotransport agency (E Transport Solutions) who did a great job moving our truck. On moving day the crew came in and worked as a smooth team, padding, boxing, etc., etc....and they did a good job of writing contents names on boxes. They were done in about 4 hours. Remember to have cash on hand to tip each crew member. We got to Boulder a day or so before our stuff, and met the driver at the self-storage. Oddly our things were packed into an Allied truck but unpacked from a National truck. The driver explained that if they don't have a truck going to one's area then word goes out and a collaborating carrier takes the load if they have space and are going there. There were 3 loads on the truck that brought our stuff. I noticed in unpacking that a number of items had been disassembled in the meantime (tables mostly) which is fine. A different, local, crew was on hand for unloading, and they also were courteous and efficient. Remember to have cash on hand to tip the unpackers as well. I saw no damage on anything, and the unpackers were happy to put things in storage such that things we might need would be towards the front. Overall, moving was a very stressful experience, but this part, dealing with Hansen Bros, was the least stressful and most professional part. I would definitely use them again if I lived in Seattle. read more

We've moved both our home and business several times, but these guys were hands-down the best crew we've ever worked with. Frequently there is a disconnect between the guys in the office (slick salesmen) and the actual moving crew (a bit sketchy). Not so with Hansen Bros. They're Organized. Prior to the move we worked together to build a plan. All of the boxes would be numbered by room, we'd have them grouped, etc. They loaded us up with boxes of all sizes, and we stopped by the warehouse a few times to get more. No charge for this and they were happy to do it. They're Professional. On move day two trucks and four guys showed up right on time. They walked through the house with a clipboard and took the lay of the land. On his way back down the stairs the foreman picked up a box, turned to one of the younger guys on his crew and said "never leave a room empty handed". That's hustle. And hustle they did. They had the entire house loaded by noon and unloaded at the new house by 4:00. They followed the number map and offered to help put our beds together. Nothing got broken and they were all polite and good natured. In the end we did a walk-through and reviewed the paperwork. The bill was about $1,850, which I thought was pretty competitive for a whole house move (their original estimate was about $2,000). I signed off and we said our goodbyes. Twenty minutes later the foreman returned to apologize. He had reviewed his paperwork and noticed that he'd made a calculation error and he'd slightly overcharged us . We settled up again and the new total was around $1,700. What moving company does that? In my experience so many moving companies are crooks or unprofessional or both. These guys couldn't be more opposite. Highly recommended! read more

Moved late in 2013 with Hansen Bros, this was my 2nd time using their company. This time they moved me from downtown seattle out to the olympic peninsula. They managed to beat the pre-move estimate by a few hundred dollars and overall the team did a good job. Unfortunately there seemed to be some communication issues between the guy leading the team and the two who were doing most of the work -- he asked them not to use the hand-carts on the tile flooring leading at the entrance of my condo out of concern that it could damage the floors. I appreciated that care, however as soon as he left the scene to go sit with the truck the 2 grunts moving the furniture immediately resumed using the handcarts in exactly the way the lead guy had asked them not to. They also arrived with a truck not sufficiently loaded with enough fuel for the trip; they were hoping we could give them directions or advice re where they could go on the route to fuel up. Not having ever had to worry about diesel before, and not being super-familiar with the route we were taking to our new home, this was a source of unnecessary stress for our move. We suggested a gas station just after the Bainbridge ferry terminal and they agreed to meet us there. They unloaded from the ferry before us and we lost sight of them; we proceeded to the gas station as planned only to find that they apparently didn't sell diesel (?! I thought all gas stations did!). There was also no sign of the moving truck. We waited for about 10-15 minutes with no clue re: where the movers were or what was going in -- we were starting to worry that either a) they had continued on to the new house and we were making a mistake waiting for them, b) they had somehow gotten lost, c) they got into an accident of some sort or d) they had absconded with 98% of our worldly possessions and we'd never see them again! (admittedly choice 'd' seemed unlikely but it did cross our minds) It turned out they went to Safeway to grab a bite to eat before meeting up with us as planned. It would have been helpful had they shared that part of their plan with us, but apparently that's asking a bit too much. Needless to say this added some unnecessary stress to the move. It's not clear why they couldn't call us (they had my cell phone number, but unfortunately we didn't think to get their number before splitting up) to let us know what was going on. Overall they did what we paid them to do, without damaging anything. It just wasn't the smoothest move imaginable although I dont know how often these things go 100% as planned. read more

Simply the best movers we have ever had. And we move every year, so have experienced a lot of shady, untrustworthy, and hyped-up overrated ones. You cannot go wrong with Hansen Bros. We recently made the move from Seattle to California, and all of our goods arrived safely and ahead of schedule. Be sure to request Elaine as your Move Coordinator; she has an infectious positive attitude, wonderful communication pre-move/in-transit/post-move, and provides incredible customer service. She cares about your move going smoothly and is there to answer any question/concern that might arise in the process. We were lucky enough to have Ted as our driver and a team of 4 movers who treated our furniture and boxes like their own (with care). Choosing a long-distance mover is hard work, especially when there are so many out there who offer you a quote that is too low. You know what I'm talking about, the ones who are 2k below the rest and will nag you constantly via email/phone to book with them. In our moving experiences, I would recommend avoiding those companies like the plague. Hansen Bros. wasn't the most expensive in the area (Mayflower, in our case) and they weren't the least expensive. The price we were quoted seemed right on the money for the lbs. we had to move. They actually slightly overestimated our weight, so we got some money back in the end! We HIGHLY recommend Hansen Bros. for your next long-distance move. read more

Hansen Bros. conducted my residential move on 5/27/20. The lead mover, Antonio, tried to have me sign off on 10 hours of move time before even starting, despite the Hansen Bros. estimator saying the move would be 8 hours. He also had me initial some sections of the contract & became pushy when I asked for clarification. We had to call Hansen Bros. for clarification because Antonio refused to do anything unless I signed the form. He got so heated during a phone call that the neighbors asked if they needed to intervene. When I asked for a new moving team because I was very uncomfortable (45 minutes of the move time wasted at that point), Hansen Bros. said these were 'great guys' and Antonio had over 10 years experience. During the move, when I asked Antonio to move specific items, he ignored me, complained, or simply didn't load the items on the truck. He kept saying there wasn't room, but the other 2 movers verified that there was, and moved some of the items. At the new house, the movers used all of the bathrooms even after I told them which was the guest bath to use. I had the house professionally cleaned prior to the move, and had to re-clean 3 bathrooms instead of one afterwards. They also left a mess (urine on the toilet, grimy water all over the sink & floor), and called out when they 'needed to take a s***'. I appreciate humor, but that was just rude. When they were moving a large item into the den, they didn't use protective coverings, so they damaged the door frame in several spot, and left gouges and black marks all over the white paint on the frame and door. They also ripped the sofa fabric, and tore my mattress seams so much that I have to replace it. They also stole a medication bin that I hand-carried over before the move & put in an upstairs closet. I contacted Hansen Bros. several times in June to report the damages and theft, file a claim, then follow up. I haven't heard from anyone since 6/17, even when I asked for someone to contact me regarding the claim status. For a company that claims to be a long-term, family-owned business, they sure don't seem to care about resolving significant problems like these. I've only had 2 emails from the branch manager regarding these problems, and they were primarily about filing a claim. Jim didn't seem to concerned or apologetic about my moving experience, nor has he followed up. Before this move, I had referred Hansen Bros. to my friends and family, but I've retracted those referrals, and at least one person who was going to contact Hansen Bros. for a move, based on my referral, changed his mind. If you're reading this review, please consider checking out other more reputable moving companies before this one. read more

Recently used Hansen Bros for the second time to facilitate a local move. They did a great job. The crew was pleasant, courteous, and appeared to really work well together. While loading, a supervisor stopped by to check on his crew, and spent time ensuring that I was satisfied with the job they were doing. They were efficient both loading and unloading, and despite lots of stairs on both ends of the move, maintained a great pace. They got the job done earlier than estimated, and came in under budget. Filled out the online form, had an agent come out to our house, she took about an hour plus to do a walk through. She said she would have a quote back to me in a few days. A full week later nothing! We had to interview other potential movers in the meantime. I had to email her and call several times to get anywhere. Once I did talk to the agent she was rude and short with me which left a bad taste in my mouth due to an already stressful time for our family with a long distance move ahead of us. I will say that their upper management has contacted me recently and apologized about this experience and they have addressed talking to their staff about there interactions with customers. I don't want one bad apple to ruin it for future customers, I am happy with how it was handled and I find that's a good sign of a decent company! read more

I was referred to Brian from someone in his BNI (network referral) group. He was professional, courteous, and the crew showed up in a timely manner. Everything about the move was seamless until we got to the end and they wanted me to sign off. They had damaged several things and the lead had promised he would write them down and fix them or the company would have someone come fix them, but they weren't written down. I wrote them in and was contacted by the office about them the next day, and they said they would follow up with someone to repair and repaint. The short of it is that they did not follow up. A call to Brian promised a follow-up, which it didn't, and another call to the office promised a follow-up, and it didn't. Hansen Bros. damaged a brass chandelier at the home I moved out of which we are trying to sell, scratched the stairwell wall, put a deep scratch in an antique Chinese armoire, broke a leg off a pristine-condition antique chest of drawers, and banged my dining table into a door jam that broke off a piece of the table in the middle. I have saved the pieces of the broken furniture, but I am seriously disappointed in the follow-through on the damage that they caused which would probably be covered by their ridiculous liability and bonding insurance. I used these guys to move my belongings to CA. I had some items that did not fit into the 'lift Vans' I had bought. So I had to get one more. I was told that the other 4 Lift Vans would not be touched or repacked. Well that did not happen. The repacked all the Lift Vans. In the process of this many personal items went missing. When I called them up to sort out my missing items I was dismissed and not replied to. I am out nearly $3000. I am now going to have to file a claim in the courts to get anything from them. I was also told that they would not let me get insurance for the move because they were only doing part of it. I later found out this is not allowed, They should have offered insurance. DO NOT USE THEM AS YOU WILL LIKELY LOSE SOME OF YOUR STUFF. THEY LIED AND DID NOT MAKE ANY EFFORT TO MAKE REPARATION TO ME. read more

Horrible customer service!!! I called and spoke with a young man.. He said they could move me on the date I needed. Then he said he would call me back with a quote. He didn't, so on the next business day I called back and left a message - and two more times I left voicemail on the only # that I had, the main public #. Finally three days later I get a human at their number, and am transferred back to the young man - who tells me that they never had a spot open and "I never got your messages". Well, you said YES you could move me, and that in 15 minutes YOU were going to call me back with a quote, you shouldn't have needed my messages anyway! So now I am left hanging, having to find movers with 48 hour notice. THANKS A LOT HANSEN BROS. First you lie to me, then try to excuse your way out by blaming me for not getting a message to you?!? Our experience with Hansen Brothers was great all around. From the in home estimate to moving day. The crew that showed up on moving day was on time and professional. They got to work right away and moved quickly the whole day. The crew also showed a lot of care for our belongings and our house. By the end of the day everything was in our new home and in perfect condition, well at least the same condition we packed it in. Hansen Bros. was awesome! My husband and I called them up when we decided to move. They made us an appointment with a specialist, who came out for a site visit and to give us a free quote. The visit took about two hours and Paula was very detailed, taking notes on exactly what we wanted to bring vs. not (we donated a lot of our furniture, but it was still there when she visited). She was friendly and knowledgeable, offering us suggestions on how to pack things properly to prevent breakage and noting which items would need special box types and where to get them. We ended up asking them to provide boxes and pack two of our items that didn't fit in regular boxes (TV & a large, framed oil painting). She also provided us with a packet of information that ended up being very helpful, including places who would pick up our furniture donations. Paula was responsive when we contacted her later to add/edit details about our move. On the day of, the moving truck arrived during the scheduled time window. The three workers were all very helpful and respectful. The first thing we did was do a walk-through of the house and point out exactly what needed to be moved and what didn't. The lead mover let us know that without a lot of furniture, it would be a quick move. As promised, they were done quickly. We did another walk-through and ensured that everything we wanted moved was on the truck. Then we headed over to the new place. At arrival, we had them set up with a reserved elevator at our new apartment complex. They brought everything up quickly and stacked them in the apartment. They were done quickly - the whole move was finished before lunch time! All in all, Hansen Bros offered a smooth, stress-free move. We've unpacked nearly everything by now and not a single item is broken. We definitely recommend them to anyone who needs to move around this area! read more

Hansen Brothers are a good mover though not great. I've used them twice and both times there was damage to my furniture - not major damage but I had to have someone come fix the scratches and scuffs on my beautiful furniture. This last time the associate who came to give me a quote told me they would wrap my white sofas, but the movers did not. I asked about it and they said, "oh there's nothing on top of them" they'll be fine. But they were not and got dirty on the move. The crew was otherwise pleasant and thoughtful. All of this said, in my last move I used All Service Moving and they were great! They wrapped all my vulnerable pieces in both blankets and plastic wrap. I had no damage whatsoever. They were also MUCH less expensive! read more

My move was 4/3/12. Movers showed up on time. Was originally four guys but one had to leave after 2 1/2 hours. Still got the job done in the allotted time which included two stops along the way to drop off some furniture. The crew could not have been nicer. I have yet to really unpack so I don't know if anything is broken. The only disappointments were that they left a large oil painting in my bedroom and a printer/fax machine (which I had specifically asked them to pack) behind. Also, there were a few small items, to include a small DVD player, on the bases of my nightstands that did not make it to my bedroom, upstairs. I suspect those things were packed but were not brought up to the bedroom. I would use Hansen Bros again. read more

UPDATE: I have to reduce this due to current circumstances regarding the loss of items and the lack of communication (no regular updates - I have had to initiate every contact). I will write up my full experience in the near future. First I have to call my insurance company. ;-( I first used these guys about 5 years ago when we needed to move out all the stuff out of our Edmonds home's first floor to make room for a major remodel project. The team packed it all up and carried it out to the truck, despite some challenges like squeezing a big treadmill through a tight doorway. The plan was to have them store our stuff for four months, but halfway through that period we learned my family was going to have to move to New York! So I ended up taking more of our stuff up to the storage warehouse and physically sorting out what was going to be shipped to New York and what had to stay in storage, like our baby grand piano -- no way that was going to fit in a tiny Manhattan apartment. There was also stuff that we didn't want to move and stuff we didn't want to pay to store, so Hansen Bros. included a bunch of our stuff in one of their auctions. We successfully got our stuff in NYC and lived in the Big Apple for five years. I just recently moved back, so we had the stuff that was in storage moved back into our now remodeled home. Opening up the boxes was like going through a time capsule. The only hiccup was when the movers tried to put the baby grand piano back, they couldn't find all of the parts. The Operations Manager has come out to see what was missing and has apparently ordered replacement parts. The baby grand is still not fixed yet, so I'm holding out one star until it is. 6-10-2016 UPDATE: I just added the fourth star, now that my piano is back together. read more

I had them deliver a bunch of furniture that we had put in storage there a few years ago. It all went swimmingly. They were easy to talk to in setting a date, they came on time. I was impressed that all the pieces were individually wrapped in those big moving pads and they said yes they were stored that way the whole time. The guys doing the moving were efficient, nice guys, and the job got done quickly. I will say their estimate was high, but the actual charge, based on their actual time taken was quite reasonable, much less than the estimate, so that was a nice surprise! read more

First I will say that the movers that Hansen Brothers sent were very nice. However, Hansen Bro. only sent two guys to unpack my Penske truck and move everything into a third floor apartment. This means it took them over six hours to do what any other moving company I have ever hired did in three hours. I have moved a full house in less time then Hansen Bros. took and this time I was moving a ONE BEDROOM apartment. The movers on the starting side of my move (Dallas, Texas) loaded my two story one bedroom apartment into the truck in about 2.5 hours and the bill was about $320. The Hansen movers on the arrival side took about six hours and the bill was almost $800!!!!! Yes more then DOUBLE the loading side. I had to spend nearly a grand to get a one bedroom apartment unloaded because they did not send an adequate amount of help. I can say positively that they were careful with my items and nothing was broke. Both men were nice and worked hard. I just used Hansen Bros./Allied Van Lines to move from Washington to Ohio. They engaged in a number of grossly dishonest business practices. They created what they called an estimate; when they moved my possessions, I shipped substantially fewer things than the estimate showed, imagining they would charge me less. They charged my credit card for the dollar amount of the estimate, now terming it a "TPG" or total price guarantee. Although they had elaborately reserved the right to charge me more than the estimate, they did not charge me less based on my actual shipment. Their excuse was that this policy allowed some flexibility, and didn't require the movers to weigh everything; yet, the estimate was created without weighing anything, entering the info on a tablet with Allied Van Lines software on it, and didn't take long. The moving crew could have easily used that same process to reflect my actual shipment. Further, on delivery the crew leader shoved numerous documents in my face to sign, then asked me if I had a copier; without one, he declined to provide me with copies of what I had signed. Reading the few positive reviews of them here on Yelp, I am certain they are phony, created by Hansen Bros. employees or their friends and families. The moving industry is deeply corrupt, and Hansen Bros. is a perfect example. They know people don't move very often, and they won't lose business by defrauding people. I'm sure everything they did was carefully planned in advance, with help from Allied Van Lines, and was vetted by a team of lawyers so they couldn't be sued for it. Hansen Bros. calls themselves "Seattle's most trusted movers." What a joke. These are dishonorable people at a dishonest company in a corrupt industry.
