We really like Lake Balboa because of the lake, ducks, and huge space but it gets soo busy on the weekends which makes parking such an issue. Think of this place as a smaller version of Lake Balboa but a lot less crowded. I feel like many people don't know about this place, and I hope it stays that way! We came on a Saturday morning and parking was a breeze. There's bathrooms by the parking lot and it seems like a few trails around the lake which we haven't explored yet. There seems to be a public pool which looks massive so I'm curious to see if it'll get busy during the summer. We'll have to come back to check it out. Overall, it's very clean, calm, safe, and it would be a great place for a picnic, walk, or even children's party :)

Beyond this disturbing and unnecessary event where your staff harassed a young girl and her family, it was a great time!!

But as for the park itself, it's one of the best you are going to do in North Hollywood this said of Burbank Blvd. Outside, they have a nice playground area for children, so it's good for families, and their is a nice big, open soccer field. There is also an outdoor basketball court that is fairly well taken care of. The tennis courts are pretty healthy as well, and there are two of them. On the inside, there is a basketball gym. The upkeep of the gym is definitely nice, and there is a stage as well. As for activities, they've got a pretty good list of them. They have soccer tournaments, they have basketball leagues for most age brackets, they have open bboy dancing on the stage on sundays, and they have a community workout that happens I believe on thursday nights around 7ish pm. So at those times, the tennis courts are jam packed with neighborhood moms and whatnot doing their workout routine thing. Of note, this neighborhood is primarily mexican, and as such, there are very few english speakers hanging out. The employees all are bilingual, and a lot of the neighborhood kids from my apartment go here, and most of them are bilingual. I am as well, but I only speak English and Japanese, so when Im playing basketball, tennis, or soccer with the other locals here, it's a bust as far as me knowing what the heck anyone is talking about lol. I know that my team usually just tries to give me the ball lolol. Anyway, overall, I am very happy that I have a nice place to come and shoot hoops and play tennis and soccer, and it's right next to a Starbucks, Target, and a few chicken and burger joints, so it's easy to eat or drink something right before or after as well. There was also a ton of shade, which was great for us, and plenty of walkways for rollerblading or going for a stroll. They also have a large playground for kids, bathrooms, and courts for tennis as well. The park is very clean, and everyone I encountered was polite and friendly.

I came here for the Memorial Day ceremony. I had never been to this park before and didn't know it…read morehad memorial plaques for people in our city who died in various wars. The ceremony included reading each of their names out loud and placing a rose on the plaque that matched the war they died in. WWII had the most roses and deaths. They had one of the fire trucks lift up a huge American flag next to the regular sized flags of the branches of our military which surround a pilar with a live flame. There was also a live band, singers, and flybys by planes in formation. It was a very solemn and respectful ceremony to honor those who died on duty. After the ceremony, I stayed at the park for a bit longer laying a towel on the grass under a tree. I don't know if it was just the spot I picked, but even though it was really grassy, underneath it was really muddy, like when I finally got up my towel was soaked through and so was my back. Then I got lost trying to find where I parked because the park is bigger than it looks and has 3 parking lots. I thought there was only 1, so I didn't pay that much attention when I walked towards the ceremony. When I tried getting back to my car I honestly thought it might have been towed. Now I know there's a parking lot by the building that leads to the swimming pool, another next to the swimming pool itself so you can actually see the water, and the last one is next to the tennis courts and baseball field. This doesn't include the parking spots all around the perimeter of the park. The park is clean, has plenty of playgrounds for children, tables and benches to eat at, and a public restroom. It's not the quietest of parks, though, since there are so many children and it's next to a busy intersection, like during the ceremony a trash truck and a random car honked their horns in support of the ceremony. Otherwise, it really is a nice park with plenty of amenities.
