My son bought a new home 3 blocks from his existing home. He hired an out of town company to help with moving the large items. I highly encouraged him to use a LOCAL company...they would be, hopefully, more responsible and concerned with their reputation in Bakersfield, than a company with no "roots" here. Boy, was I wrong!!! After calling several locally owned companies to get pricing, we ultimately hired Hansen's. The 2 movers arrived at the arranged time to begin the move. After 6+ hours, once they finally left, my son discovered that the men had done considerable damage to his new home and his property. Since I was influential in his using Hansen's, I felt obliged to contact the owner the following day, in order to let him know that we were very unsatisfied with the outcome. I wanted to request for him to meet us at the property, in order to see for himself the damages done. After speaking with him that next day, he advised me that he wanted to talk to the 2 movers. He assured me that he would call me back the NEXT day. Since the day of my original contact with the owner, Dan Hansen, on March 8, 2017, he has NOT called me back, after wanting to speak with his 2 employees, even though he gave me his WORD that he would!! WOW!!! I am very disappointed in this local moving company. So much for supporting our local economy. I have called his office over 15 times in the last 3 weeks, each time the secretary tells me he is not in the office and she will give him the message. THIS IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE!!!!! I find it unbelievable that the owner of the company would not even attempt to try to work out a situation where a customer is so unhappy with the job done. We simply wanted for him to meet us at the new home, for him to see what we were referring to with our dissatisfaction. He won't even return my phone calls!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! We are now forced to file a claim with small claims court and the Better Business Bureau. Hansen's Moving and Storage cannot be recommended for any job! I have and will continue to spread the word to anyone that I hear is in need of movers in Bakersfield, on what a horrible experience Hansen's Moving and Storage has been to work with!! read more

Beware, they cancel on you and double the agreed price quote! I called Hansens to do a small 3 piece heavy furniture move of approx. 65 miles. I spoke with Jim who gave me a price of 200 dollars. He mentioned they had another move in my area so they would do both moves on the same day. So we set up a day for the move. I waited 1 week, cleared areas in my home for the items that were to be moved. I called them 3 times to verify the move would be on Saturday because I am used to these Bakersfield business's taking a dump on me at the last minute. So I had a very bad premonition that would happen, and I was 100% right. I even called the morning before the move, and time was still set . Well, I left a day early to go to the area where the move was scheduled. I was about 20 miles from there when Hansens called me. They said the other move canceled, but if I still wanted them to move my items the price would be 400 dollars instead of 200 dollars. That or wait two more weeks! There was no apology whatsoever. What kind of business goes back on its word, cancels at the last minute, and raises the price? And with no apologies?They should have warned me this might happen when I had first called them. Well, it ended up costing me to go to the move site. At least, they could have said the move in two weeks would be discounted or something. I would have then accepted it. Be warned of any company that goes back on it's word, or cancels on you. I would expect this type of stuff being done in a rural, small hic-town such as Lake Isabella, where they are notorious for not supporting their own customers, but not Bakersfield. Only reason I am giving this company a 1 star is because I cant give a 0. Never again will I call Hansens. No matter what price they quote. *Note* It is also quite fascist that yelp puts all negative reviews in the "not recommended" section and are all hidden. The negatives are the very fist I search for. What good are reviews when one cant read them all without searching deep for them. One sided fascism at it's best! read more

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with this company. The guys who drove the truck and did the work were excellent. Super polite and went the extra mile to help me with my move. My problem is with the person that did the estimate. The gentleman came over to my apartment and looked at all of the furniture that was going to be moved. I was to pack and move all of the small stuff. The estimator then told me that it should take the guys no more than 4 hours. I was then given an estimate of $607.00. I told him to proceed. The front office was very understanding and helpful when I had to reschedule my move date to two weeks later than originally planned. Very nice lady. The move was performed and I was given a bill that was for $1000. I was very surprised and objected. The truck driver asked me if I wanted him to call his boss. I said yeah. After he came back, he said that I would be receiving a call on Monday to work out something. After waiting all morning, I called and spoke to the office lady. I told her my side of the story and she said she would talk to the drivers to confirm that there was no extra work performed and she would call me back later. An hour later, I hear from the estimator again. He said he was sorry that the bill was higher than estimated, but he would have to charge me the full hours because he had to pay his guys. He then stated that the were stairs at my apartment which is why it took longer. HE WAS THERE. He knew about the stairs. The guys worked 2 hours longer than estimated. I asked him if there was anything that he could do to help me out. He eventually said that the best he could do was to deduct $10/hour which would lower my bill to $960. Big help. If you want to use this company, make sure that you get a firm estimate. I got a really bad guess. read more

Hansen's Is the best! Today we moved my mother-in-law into an assisted living apartment. We were so thrilled to have Jesse and Jason as our movers. They were wonderful! Not only were they very kind, but they were very efficient in their work. This was not an easy move given the 100+ degree temperatures and the fact that the apartment was at the very farthest point possible from the entrance on the 2nd floor. Jesse and Jason got the job done very quickly and made it look easy. In fact, last weekend 3 burly family members had attempted to move a huge and very, very heavy glass curio cabinet to the apartment but could not get it in the elevator or up the stairs by themselves once they got to the location. They had to bring it back to my mother-in-law's and we did not think it would be possible to have it in her new home. She was heartbroken as it is her pride and joy. That is when we decided to call Hansens. Not only did Jesse and Jason get it into her new apartment but they made it look easy. We could not be more thrilled. The company I worked for always uses Hansens and we have always been very pleased with their work. This is the first time that I have personally used them and I will always use them in the future. This was the second time I used Hansen's to move and I won't call anybody else. Their staff is top notch--always friendly and helpful when you call. The estimator, Jim, was on point. The team that moved my stuff out of my house was professional and diligent, even in 100+ heat. Jeff was particularly helpful and guided me to make sure I checked every nook and closet to assure they had everything. James kept a careful inventory of every piece of furniture and every box. My move had to be split with my stuff in storage for about 3 weeks, and a slightly different crew moved everything into my new house. Jeff and James from the first crew were part of the second crew. Jeff and James again guided me through the process. Jeff took me from room to room to check that all furniture was where I wanted it to be. We had a slight issue--the guys turned off the sprinklers, but then stacked stuff in front of the clock--but Marc came out and moved some stuff and turned on my sprinklers! The entire team was polite, diligent, and NOTHING was damaged. Nobody loves moving, but if you have to do it, use Hansen's. read more

Just wanted to take am moment to write a wonderful review for my moving team. I wish I could give them more starts. Andre, Jerome and Jesse S were some of the best movers I have ever worked with. They were efficient and clean and just plain compassionate. From my first phone call I reached Marc and he assured me he would get a crew out there as soon as possible and he followed through. My father had passed away and I need to move his items out of a Senior living community fairly quickly. The crew showed up on time and worked seamlessly and so helpful. They were friendly but knew what they were doing and understood the situation and made every effort to make it as smooth for me as possible They never stopped moving. They also helped me box up items as we went and even was super polite to the facility. Andre, Jessie and Jerome make Hansen's look good. They deserve a raise in my opinion. The loading team consisting of Brian, Jorgie, Ali, Albert and Drew were excellent. They were careful with my things, were courteous and worked hard to get all my things packed and loaded. I enjoyed the banter with them as moving is very stressful and they were so helpful and no matter how busy they were, they always answered my questions and helped me with whatever little task I had. Jim who came to do the appraisal was excellent, he did a great job explaining how the process would work, gave me full assurance that his team would be able to handle the job well, which they did. the pricing was also more reasonable compared to other companies. Jim gave me really good advise for packing, including materials and method, and was able to remain flexible for me as I had to downsize and therefore, could not tell him exactly what was going with me until the last minutes. Hansen's is THE best moving company. This was the second half of our move, and Michael and Billy did an epic job. They put in so much time and effort to move our very heavy arcade games from the old home to the new. It was a really tough job, but they did it with determination, a great sense of humor, and excellent communication. The guys were careful with everything, and mindful of the floors/walls/etc. of our new home. (Worth noting that we had called another moving company first, but they had refused to move our arcade and pinball games; I guess they weren't "fit" enough! But Hansen's got the job DONE.) The first half of our move was three weeks ago, and on that team was Adrian, Kevin, Junior, and Anthony - again, a fantastic team. Layla and Quintin were incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the move and were able to answer all of my questions and address all of my concerns with ease. I donated a restored 77 year old Brunswick snooker table to Taft College for their student rec hall. The college sent Hansen movers to deliver the table to them. Four men showed up today to facilitate the move, Brian, Jose, Fernando, and Adrien, and a big brand new moving truck. The men soon determined that this 1500 pound table would need to be disassembled in order to get it out of our house and into the truck. With very positive attitudes, and great teamwork they took the table apart, wrapped the pieces to protect them, all without and scratches on our new hardwood floor. They left the room clean and tidy. These guys were polite, with upbeat attitudes, and obviously a good amount of experience in handling expensive and valuable furniture. Hansen's should be proud of the work of these men do. I would like to thank Jim Smith with Hansen's moving company for all his efforts in making my move from Bakersfield to Florida as painful as he could. A little back ground on my move, I was transferred to Tampa, Fl from Bakersfield Ca. I had to be at my new office prior to me selling my home. Mr Smith was so kind to help and work with my fiancée to make our move as painless as possible for us. No task was too much for them, they were very accommodating and would do anything and they were very quick and very careful with all of my items. I have used Hanson's moving company for so many years I have moved many times, and I've used their storage facility for years it's excellent! Every time they've moved me all the movers have been excellent movers so careful so professional so friendly! I recommend Hanson's moving company to everyone!
