I was looking for an insulation job and was not very impressed with the sales consultation process. The sales rep was not very friendly or personable. He walked straight in and set up his Powerpoint presentation. Once we got to the video part and the testimonials from the retirees - I knew I was in for a ride. After everything finished we started talking numbers and I literally watched the price drop by the minute each time I explained that I didn't want to make a decision today. Then the sales consultant wrote down the quotes, packed up his materials, and practically ran out the door. I think he was wanting me to chase him down or call him to lock in "the crazy low price". Well - it didn't work I am still sitting here wondering what the hell all those discounts were that he applied (because he didn't leave behind the sheets that explained what each one meant). I think I will contact a different company with a more straightforward sales approach. You can tell a lot about a company by the way they sell their product - I don't have enough time to play games. read more

My wife and I began searching for window installers in October 2010. We narrowed our search to an independent contractor, Wallside Windows, and Hansons. Hanson did the best job impressing us up front with customer service, presentation, and sales technique. It took several weeks to build the windows (very common). The two days prior to installation day, we followed Hanson instructions and took down all the blinds, moved all the furniture and made it very accomodating for the installers. Everything was going great until...installation day. We had someone at our house so that the installers could get in...but they gave us the wrong time and our help was 4 hours earlier than need be (embarassing). Then the installer got stuck on another job and they called us in the early afternoon with the bad news that we would not get our windows installed on the day agreed on. Anything can happen and we respect that. However, what happened next is what I have a serious issue with. I asked the Hansons rep telling me about a need to reschedule what kind of priority we would receive. I did not get the answer I wanted. I called my sales rep, the guy with the great presentation up front. He ended up sounding like the most helpful of everyone. He gave me Brian Elias' cell phone number - the President of Hansons! Brian Elias did answer the phone. Then he shocked me with his reaction to my story. "Things happen. You have to understand." I asked him about priority in getting my windows installed. He told me that they are not the kind of company that can prioritize a missed install. He told me it would be 7 - 14 days before we could get our windows since he did not want to create another problem by getting us in front of someone else. How very disappointing. After listening to my concerns and shock, he offered me $100 off. Incredible. Where are my WINDOWS???? I called my sales rep back who promised me a call the next day after complaining to his Regional Manager. Haven't heard from my sales rep. Scheduling got us in for an install for 7 days after they promised. Now my wife is going to have to take the day off so that they can get in. I got a free quote over a month ago. The salesman was very pushy. I told him I wanted to talk it over with my bf first before making a decision. He became snotty and pretty much a jerk. Two seconds after he left, another guy called trying to get me to sign. The salesman said he'd call in 5 days for my decision and he never did. Purchased a new roof. Salesperson was very nice, but made a mistake when communicating terms of a service we purchased. Due to the insane contract that Hanson's has - we were in a real pickle having purchased something that would not cover what we needed. After a lot of back and forth - it was resolved. Note to Brian Elias at Hansons: If a customer has to initial 26 boxes of tiny, fine print boxes and you can't copy the contract because it is larger than a sheet of legal paper-your contract stinks. My husband and I had to get out a magnifying glass to see the box related to attic mold. Sigh. Simplify it and make it honest. Also, the contractors that Hanson's hired to do our roof did a good job - but I think that Hanson's could be a better company if they trimmed the office fat they have and actually hired the contractors as employees of Hanson's. As a customer - THAT is what we cared about - the people that actually worked on our home. The numerous phone calls from a variety of Hanson's office people to check on this and check on that were annoying and irrelevant. Stop "1099-ing" your most valued company representatives - the laborers and craftsman. THEY are the ones that actually "get it done". read more

Here is what will happen..... The staff will be extremely friendly and informative. I received texts/emails/calls regarding my estimate. The service person will arrive on time. Will be very courteous and polite and professional, so this rating is not for this person. My complaint is about the company. To start, your price will be over-inflated. I received a quote for a project prior to this and it was, literally, 75% less than Hansons... for an IDENTICAL product. They will talk about a lifetime guarantee, which, hey, if that is worth multiple times the cost, go for it. The sales person placed a long series of fake phone calls to the boss "trying to get the price down." Seriously....it felt like buying a car, which turned me off 100%. I just had a new roof put on my house by them. Thry said 2-3 daysbto do it, it took them 5 weeks snd they damaged the in sidebof my house. Six rooms in my house have water damage which they said they would fix. They had one of their roofers come in tobdo the repairs an now ut looks worse then it did with the water damage. My husband and I are looking to replace 20 windows in our house. I scheduled my appointment online and received a call when I was on my way home from work heading to the appointment to "gather more information" about our home and to schedule our appointment. When I stated I had already scheduled and was on my way home to the appointment she said that the online booking system overbooks appointments and we would have to reschedule. Seriously? Then, she proceeded to inform me that both my husband and I would have to be present for an estimate. When I explained that he works out of town most of the week and I was responsible for getting this taken care of I was told "well...he really needs to be there." What! Ho-Lee cow, there's a special place in hell for these types of sales methods. First they demand both people be home, red flag #1, (they do this so you can't pull the old "let me talk to my spouse and let you know"). Then they come take some measurements and look at what they're there for, standard fare. Then you sit down for an iPad Powerpoint on the history and info on the company, red flag # 2. Then they assume you're an idiot and break down how low, medium, and high quality options work, this then leads into a spiel that tries to make you doubt that you'd ever be able to make an apples-to-apples comparison to another companies offering, red flag # 3. After some physical demonstrations that try to make you that assume you only made it through 1st grade then gave up (who'd-a thunk 3 panes of glass insulate better than 1 or 2 panes? Not me, me dumb) they really try to drive home the point that you really don't want that low-end cheap option and they're obviously the best company for the job (remember that powerpoint?) and they sell a high quality product, so why even think about using someone else or EVEN LOOKING FOR ANOTHER QUOTE!?!?!?!?! (not me remember, me dumb) So after you've been through this you should begin to realize they've wasted about an hour of your time and no matter how politely you try to convey the point that you're not going to pull the trigger right then and there while your young children are literally screaming. At this point you try being a little more blunt saying, "thank you, just write down your number and price and we'll let you know", the salesman at this point should begin to repeat the entirety of red flag 3. You then might ramp up your attempt to get them to wrap it up by literally saying "stop trying to hard-sell me and write down the cost, now". At this point the salesman should claim to not be hard-selling you (even though this is obviously the textbook definition of the hard-sell) and will eventually be able pull out one last offer to lower the price if you put a sign in your yard BUT ONLY if you sign on the dotted line TODAY! I recommend just staring into his dead eyes and just utter single word answers at this point followed by good bye. In closing I hope it was worth it, because that quote sheet littered with enough simple math to fill a 3rd grade text book's going straight into the "Hell No" pile. read more

Please don't waste your time. We spent an hour and 15 min with a pushy sales guy just trying to get him to quote us a price (which was astronomical). When he did he spent the next 30 min "dropping prices" and trying to hard sell us into making a decision that day. We told him multiple times we would not. He still kept talking. I grabbed his hand, shook it, and said we were done, it's time to leave. He still would not leave. We had to ask multiple times to get this hack out of our home. This company is a joke. They are a scam. They run a home makeover contest which is nothing more than their way to get your info then call you to pressure you into a purchase. I wanted to win new windows many years ago and when I got a call from their salesman, he kept wanting me to buy windows. I told him I wanted to win the windows, I was not interested in making a purchase. He got very hostile with me and said "How do you think Hansons pays for these contests if people don't purchase things?" I told him that it was not MY problem and if they can't afford the contest, don't advertise one and hung up. Their contest ad came on my Facebook feed and I retold that story in the comments and said I would never use their company for anything. Later that day, the ad came up again and my comment had been removed as well as my ability to make any comments, likes etc on their page and posts. So not only are they high pressure hustlers, they are cowards as well. Another reviewer on Facebook also busted them for using phony accounts to falsely inflate their ratings there. Many of the accounts give 5 stars with no comments and they seem to all be friends with one another. You can do better elsewhere I'm sure, this company is a joke. Interesting that they just delete my honest comment about my experience with them rather than address the issue, but in reading all the Yelp comments about how crappy they are, it should come as no surprise. So many other businesses out there, don't give your hard earned money to a company like this. read more

Wish I could give them a ZERO! They are absolute scum. 2.5 hours and they went from 19K to 11K for a roof on a home worth only 119K- you gotta be kidding me. I will never pay that much for a new roof. Lied and said they could do trim and gutters before they came out but they said the job is not big enough despite them telling me my 1100 sq ft home was a huge roofing project. They also would not come unless hubby was home. Male chauvinist PIG company. BTW the video of the party boy owner that went to Eastern was laughable. Inherited company and drove it into the ground. BEWARE they do no work- you are a third party to their contracts and their warranty says they warrant the products if installed by them- guess again- they hire the installers - they did not install a thing so the warranty is VOID. Had a good experience with the windows they put in. So in September we had them do our front windows and some siding. Windows got done just fine. We were told to expect the siding to be done in about three days. Well, here it is nearly December and still no siding. Won't call us back after many attempts to contact them. We have recommended Hanson's to many, but not anymore. Our friends are waiting to see what happens with us before they have Hanson's do their windows. read more

Had more then one project done by Hansons, (3) as a matter of speaking, sales person very nice but the sales pitch is too time consuming, and the cost is outrageous, but the reason for the (2) stars is the workmenship and the clean-up. Work maybe a three but the clean-up a - 1, still picking up nails from the roof, the windows needed caulk, the down spouts came loose after the first wind, had to call and get them put back on secure, was promised a tablet for the roof (never received) was promised a tablet for the windows never received, would not recommend or give a good review. About 3 weeks ago we had a representative from Hanson's come to our home to discuss a new roof, secondary to age and water leaks. My husband and I listened to salesman spiel, along with the video presentation from Brian Elias. The salesman was very thorough, we discussed all the options, after about an hour and a half we agreed to use Hanson's to do our roof. We signed all the papers and gave the rep a check for half the cost to complete the job, with the expectation the job would start in 2-3 weeks, per the salesman. He said that someone from roofing would be out to do a detail measurement for materials required. We set an appointment for 2 days later. He came and left on the appointed day. A week later another man came to do measurements again, this was not planned and we were never notified about this appointment. A week later we get a call from the office to set up and appointment to sign a WAIVER. I asked what waiver, the office help said she would have our salesman call. He called and stated that Hanson's could not guarantee the roof due to lack of ventilation. Our home is a geodesic dome, there is not attic, the panels are all pre-foamed sections, no ventilation is needed. They would guarantee nothing from their contract, not shingles, not water leak. So they are terminating the agreement based #15 (I'm guessing) in their terms and conditions on the back of their contract, they can cancel within 30 days. Now, we gave them a check for half cost, which was deposited the day after the appointment. Hanson's closes down for the holidays, until after January 1st. We will not get our money back until they process their cancellation. They took our money and now we have to wait too long to get it back. read more

He quoted us at TRIPLE the price of the other companies! To make things worse, he dropped the price over 50% before walking out of the door. I contacted Hanson's for a quote for three windows. The sales rep came out an quoted the windows. This was the first quote we had formally received but they were inline with what I was expecting (based on window pricing from Lowe's. I was hesitant to sign the contract the day of as we still had another contractor coming out to quote us on the windows but they offer 10% off if you sign day of. The sales rep assured me that Hanson's would price match as long as the windows were comparable and the u-factors were the same/better. The other quote from Wallside came in almost $1,500 less than Hanson's quote and the u-factor on the windows was .01-.02 better than what Hanson's offers. I have been trying to get Hanson's to price match this quote for over a week now with no response. The general manager (Scott Lamacchia) at the Saginaw, MI store will not return my calls and will not respond back to my sales rep. Now that we are outside of the 3 day cancellation period, Hanson's wants to charge me 1/3 of the sales price to cancel even though the windows haven't started in production yet. The service has been absolutely awful to date. Do yourself a favor and contact anyone but Hanson's for your window needs. read more

Roofers are roofers.... They show up smoking, driving in an old beat up truck, no shirts, torn jeans. However, they did a fantastic job and kept my yard clean at all times. As long as you are familiar with the exterior appearance of a roofer, then you can see just how good of a job they actually do. read more

In my experience anyone who takes an hour to tell you about their product is just there to close the deal regardless! I have contacted this company to install leaf guards to our existing gutters for a 2 story house 3 years ago. Since the installation, I still have to clean the gutters twice a year. What is the point of spending $5000 for the leaf guard system when it does not prevent debris from getting into the gutters? I am doing the same amount of work before getting the leaf guard system. I have contacted this company numerous time to fix the problem with no long term resolution Last year, I have contacted Hansons because during moderate and heavy rainfall, the water will be spilling over the gutter/downspout connection. Also I have noticed that the corresponding downspout is clogged. Hanson did come and fixed the problem until the same problem happened again this year. I have contacted Hanson on July 15th, 2018 and we had to wait until Aug 15th for someone to come fixed the issue. I had found out that someone from Hansons came to our house and told my parents that there was nothing they can't do and they would speak with their boss. I was very upset because this person did not check the troublesome area and this person left after 10 minutes. Also, Hansons told my parents that they would need to replace the gutter for that section which I do not think its necessary. I would fix the problem myself, but i can't reach the second level of my house. It has been 3 weeks and no one from Hanson contacted us. Today, my mother have contacted Hanson and told me she could not talk to anyone because it was all automated. She left a voice mail and will be taking action if the problem is not solve soon. It is frustrating when we know the main issue is due to debris in the gutter with the leaf guard system. I just don't understand why there is a lot of leaves or seeds getting into the gutters. From my experience with this company, I would not recommend calling this company other than for windows. We had a good experience with Hanson for our Windows and thought they would be good for gutters. If anyone from Hanson cares, please provide a phone number where we can talk to a person and resolve this problem. read more

My husband got their information from a friend at work, so we scheduled an appointment for an estimate. The first time, someone called us telling us the guy would be an hour late, so we rescheduled the appointment. The lady on the phone kept trying to offer us money off to let him come that night, but we passed. The guy showed up the second time and gave us an estimate for a new roof for $32,000! This was almost 3 times what the other 4 companies have given us. Someone from their company called my husband the next day, and he politely told them to find another sucker. No way we are spending that much on our roof with all of the items "we had to have because of our house." None of the other roofing companies suggested there was anything 'special' about our roof to warrant all these upgrades, that we "had to have and they weren't an option." No thank you!!! I see now why he was all about pushing their financing plan. read more

We had replacement windows, aluminum trim and new gutters installed about 10 years ago. Went with Hanson's because my mother had done business with them years ago and really liked their work. I'm thinking that the older management (maybe the father/) was much better then the new (the son?) One of the gutters fell off within the first year. One of their selling points was that they use all their own employees for installations. We called and called their service number, and were finally told it was probably due to the weight of snow. Finally called the salesman, who came out and gave us the spiel about how the gutters are installed with long, strong nails and showed us a sample of the nail. When I pointed out to him that the nails in the gutter that came down were only about 2 inches long, and nothing at all like the one he was showing us he said, "We're not using that installer any more." And finally agreed to send out someone to fix the fallen gutter and replace the nails in all the rest. During a heavy downpour, we noticed that water was running down the INSIDE of one of our windows. Called for service -- They claimed it was the caulking -- "we're not using that caulk any more." And came out and recaulked. (Have had to call them back 3 times for that one window.) Fast forward to now. We got up one morning, opened our curtains, and the inside top glass pane in another window had cracks all throughout the pane -- looked almost like decorative glass. The first thing the service department said when we called was "We're not using that manufacturer any more." Yah, right. Always someone else's fault. They're supposed to be coming out today to "measure" for a replacement. We'll see how they do. Each of the other times they've come out, they've also used it as an opportunity to try and sell us yet another one of their products. read more

While i absolutely appreciate other reviews, just wanted to give our experience... yes, the sales pitch is long-winded (CEO video... really??), and the sales pressure is really high. However, we desperately needed a new roof - quickly, professionally, and just wanted it done. Hansons scheduled the dumpster, the crew was at our house for 2 days - cleaned everything up, the roof was replaced - it was almost a non-issue. We are finished paying the roof off and are considering windows - we'll evaluate Hansons, but several other good options in the area. read more

Hanson's did the windows on half of our house; things went well. We wanted to finish the other half of the house and had estimates and salespeople come out, however there was no follow-up. It was as if no one cared to get the sale. We hired Service Glass and they were prompt, efficient and a fraction of the cost! Now we are glad Hanson's did not call back! read more

Hansons rep went over everything we could expect from the crew. We selected the materials and accepted the plan for us. we were told that it would take 4 to 5 weeks. He assured us he would try to step up the date for us due to our situation. One week later we were called and asked could we be available the next day for delivery and installation. We were very pleased and said a loud yes! The next day the materials and the crew arrived. The roof looks great, the clean up by the crew was awesome and we only found a few nails and they weren't from them. All in all money well spent. Thank You Hansons. read more

I was happy with the contractor's and the quality of work done. I was not happy with the customer service from Hanson's themselves. The salesman was late to each of our appointments, once by nearly an hour without a warning. Then, after completion of the project, I had not received anything in the mail regarding billing (I was financing the project through Enerbank). I had multiple discussions with a women from their billing department, who threatened me with legal recourse while I was trying to resolve my billing issue. Months after the completion of the project (and once I had paid my bill in full), I was misled by a telephone operator who told me Hansons would send me a $25 Visa card if I gave them a positive review on Yelp. I never received the card in the mail, as promised. I would not use their services again. read more

But again, I got a notice from Brittany at the service department that it will be 4-7 weeks before 2 SCREENS WILL BE REPLACED. And then its to set up a appointment to put them in. So again, no open windows on the 2 main windows in my house. As a consumer a service call time of 2 months is absolutely ridiculous. read more

Don't do it!! I had windows installed from Hanson's and it was a nightmare. It took 6 weeks to install 6 windows. The crew that came out were incompetent, ghetto chainsmoking amateurs, evidence that Hanson's doesn't have a very good screening process of contractors. First they removed all the windows to be replaced, then they tell me the new windows are wrong size and hastily reinstall the old, leaving gaps on the sides for cold air to get in( October)The gaps and cold in the house lasted several weeks. And did I mention one of the "crew" stole a tablet from my son's bedroom.? Or that they would urinate behind my garage rather than go 2 blocks to the store restroom? I called Asley at Hanson's on different occations to complain but all she would do is leave msgs about when the crew would arrive and how much I still owed them. Finally I called the salesman I ordered the windows from and a short time later a guy from Hanson's in Detroit calls and says job will be done in next 2 days.Well a week later it's finally done. Best guarantee of window company. Have had Hanson windows for over 20 years and the seal on one of our windows broke. The repairman, Jim Jacobs, just left after repairing it--free of charge. The warranty is great on the windows and Jim couldn't have been nicer. Very pleasant and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend Hansons. read more
