We had two sets of windows put in by Hanson's. First crew was great. Second crew was not. They were very rude and did a sloppy job. When we called to complain to Hanson's only received excuses and no results or apology. We are still waiting for a window to be replaced. Someone came out to measure the window and they still can't get the right one ordered after 12 weeks. Hanson's doesn't seem to look out for the customer. Brian Ellis still hasn't came out to see what kind of work his company does. Over $12,000 in windows one would think that Hanson's wants happy customers. We would not use them again. read more

I had a great experience with Hansons- the sales representative who came to my house was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional- and he kept good follow up throughout the process to make sure everything went smoothly. The installation was super fast and only took about half a day- considering I had new windows placed throughout my entire home. The staff was great and very clean- I think my house was actually cleaner after they left because they cleaned up any dust or residue from the windows as they went. I have no complaints and I love my new windows! read more

After the snotty scheduler person who basically called me a liar. As well as the Hanson scheduler lied in her record she called me with a reminder of my service visit on the wrong date. Which obviously was not done,?if they came on the wrong day. Then called me a liar when I called back to complaining waiting longer than two months to install three windows. I would of had more work done, but because of the poor telephone etiquette. I will be taking my future home window job somewhere else. What a grueling experience. The sales guy came early for his 1 1/2 hour presentation. Price was triple my other 2 quotes and after me agreeing to tell 10 friends. Yadayada it was down to only 2x the quotes if others. They have you sign your life away and do I had to cancel. Physically go to the place and the Receptionist PHYSICALLY PUT HER HANDS UP as to not take the cancellation. U couldn't believe it. I HAD to talk to a manager (so they could have one more shot at me). He finally took my cancellation. DO NOT CALL THEM OR LET THEM NEAR YOUR HOUSE!!! Unbelievably high-pressure attempted sales only equaled by their unmitigated gall! I only wish I could make it zero stars! I called for a roof replacement estimate for my garage, wanting to set up an appointment. Very nice and polite Megan asked all the questions for my information. Then the madness began....here's a quick summary of the unbelievable conversation: Me: I'd like an estimate for a replacement roof for my garage and possibly for my house as well. Megan: When would be a good time to set up an appointment for you and your wife? Me: Early in the morning would be the best for me or end of day around 5pm. Megan: Will that work for both you and your wife? Me: No, it's too difficult for us to coordinate our schedules so it will just be myself. Megan: Well, we can accommodate any time that will help so you can both be available. Me; No, that isn't necessary. It will just be me for the appointment. Megan: What about later in the evening or (I think she suggested) on a weekend so you can both be available? Me: No, it will just be me and your sales guy. Megan: Well, we try to have both of you there so (blah, blah, blah)....... Me: Megan.....Megan.....Megan (I'm trying to cut her off because she won't stop explaining) I know you guys need to follow your script to get us both there to the sales guy can tell us both everything and try to close the deal before he leaves. It isn't going to happen. Here's how it will go down: He'll show up and I'll be in the driveway. He'll climb the ladder, do the estimate and hand it to me. Then he'll probably spend a half-hour giving me the spiel on why I should let Hanson's do the work and try to get a signature from me. I won't give it to him and will wait until I get the other two estimates from other companies I'm also talking to. Then I will make a decision and let you know if I want you to do the work, Ok? Megan: Well we like to have both spouses there.....blah blah continues..... Me: (now I'm laughing) Megan, I've got to say that I've never had anyone try so hard to pressure me into having my wife available when I'm trying to offer them work. If having my wife available is mentioned again I'm going to take the work somewhere else! Megan: Well we find it easier with your wife.....more blah blah... Me: I can't believe that you actually mentioned my wife being there again. Please make sure to tell your head of sales that they lost a job because of this ridiculous conversation. I then hung up on her. Absolutely unbelievable.....the irony is that she started the call by telling me that it was being recorded for training purposes! Do not let salespeople like this determine how business is being done by pressuring you! Send a message by telling other people to take their business elsewhere! The CUSTOMER is always right! Anytime you have a question or a concern and call the sales office, the scumbags there take turns passing the phone around and pretend to be each other. If you thought used car lots were sleazy, wait til you try buying windows! I have never had such a crazy sales experience! We called hansons and wallside to get a quote. Hansons told us they would beat wallsides prices and they asked me to fax them my quote from wallside. When I did I guess they couldn't read the writing on the fax so the sales manager called out wallside rep and claimed to be my husband and asked him to fax it directly to him!!!!! The wallside rep was suspicious so he called me to confirm and I was livid. I called hansons and told them to NEVER impersonate my husband and he claimed it must have been done by some new low level sales rep. Please! If you must get HANSON for your windows, KEEP AN EYE ON THE INSTALLERS, caught them not replacing woods that was rotting bad , seals that was not done right , rushing to finish the work fast and had me keeping a watchful eye throughout the entire time. And this is just for only 3 windows that was bad ( 20+ more to go )and I still have a houseful of windows that need replacement . The company should have hired me to do the supervisory work . Come to find out that Hanson doesnt manufacture their own windows, they buy them from another source. Failed to do my homework here ! Wont be getting them back for the rest of the windows, just dont have the time to supervise and i have 20 plus windows ! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!! If I could leave less than one star I would. We hired Hanson's nearly a year ago to do our siding on our house. It's now been nine weeks since the project started and it's still not complete. The installers are pigs and terrible at their jobs! Nails, screws, razor blades, cigarette butts, sharp pieces of siding as well as food and garbage left all over our yard. The installers also peed in our backyard in several places (we have video proof). They have trampled landscaping, moved large rocks without permission and the siding looks so bad thus far. Fortunately we have it ALL documented on cameras. We have had little to no communication on what to expect throughout the entire project and when Marco does communicate, it's all lies. This has been the worst experience of our lives. There are so many mistakes and places that need to be fixed, but we know that even though we have a guarantee, we won't get anything accomplished after the project is done. In the end we'll be hiring someone else to fix the mistakes. They did not pull permits to get the work done and therefore there have been no inspections. Like all of the other reviews here: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...STAY AWAY FROM HANSON'S!!!! read more

SHOP AROUND BEFORE USING HANSON'S. We ended up not using Hanson's but I am writing this because there aren't a lot of reviews for gutter installers. I contacted Hanson's and four other companies for an estimate for gutter installation. Hanson's bid was three times the amount of the other bids. ($2,400 versus $800-ish from the other three). In addition, pre-printed on Hanson's bid sheet is an additional cost of $295 for "administrative fees." The salesman was so vague about this additional charge that I am not even sure that he knew what the charge was for. I would just shop around before going with Hanson's. I will be having the work done by one of the other contractors and will update then. read more

Upon calling Hansons for an estimate on a new roof, one of their call center employees (male) informed me that they would not come out to my home unless the man of the house was present. He said it would be a waste of time to just speak to the woman of the house since the man of the house usually makes most decisions, and they do not want to make two trips out to our home if there are more questions. I thought this strange duck of a man was kidding, so I chuckled and told him to stop pulling my leg...but guess what? He was SERIOUS! Sexist, rude, ignorant. Just replaced 10 windows/sliding doors at my house. The windows/door material is very good compared to other places. I had 4 different quotations from other places and Hansons were not the cheapest but their windows were the best quality(triple layered compared to double layered). There were no hassle or anything and they called me couple times to make sure everything was installed correctly. overall i'm very happy that i used Hansons to do my windows/sliding doors. read more

Funny - ALL of the negative reviews are in that category (including BOTH of mine that I wrote in February and May). Its a shame too, because reviews in that category - according to Yelp do not factor into the current star rating. PLEASE shop around before even thinking of calling Hanson's. This is a terrible company. Granted I can't speak to the roofing and siding side of the business because that's not what we needed to have installed, we only called about windows - but I am going to assume they are just as bad. While I wish I could provide a positive review, I will not. 1. Had my deposit since September and work is just being completed today ($1000). 2. Was set up for financing and the day of the install I find that they didn't know that. Luckily we called since they were supposed to call us and give us a time for the installation. They didn't, and then told us we have to pay the balance upon completion of work...uh, no. I have paperwork to prove this. 3. The run-around is epic, you can never get anyone who knows anything on the phone unless you get mad. 4. The installer wasn't called and expected us to pay in full at the end of the job. Showed him papers-"oh I never seen this before". Had hubby sign completion paperwork, and took off...but wouldn't you know it, the paperwork he "hadn't seen before" went with him. When asked about it, he "didn't take it". When Jeff the area manager asked, he magically had it...it's supposed to come back to us. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten my money back back in October when I was getting worried about the job being done at all...who else can sit on your money for 4 months and then forget that you had arrangements and paperwork completed? These guys... NEVER AGAIN. A hassle from beginning to end. I will add, however, that my windows do look nice, hence the star. Professionalism and courtesy are two things lacking here. read more

For my next Yelp review, I want to discuss my new roof installed recently by Hansons. I was most satisfied with the workmanship. I'm very fussy myself. My husband and I watch a lot of DIY shows, including Holmes on Homes. That guy is extremely fussy; he goes in and fixes what other contractors didn't do properly. His workmanship is a lot like my husband's, and my dad's. My dad always taught me to do it right the first time. The contractor that represented Hansons did that to the tee. When Peter was here, he told me that roofers roof, siders side, and window installers install windows. The roofers that Hansons sent did the job, they did it right, and they cleaned up and left. He couldn't have been more exact. He knew the quality of people he was sending to our house. When they got here, they overcame the little things they had to make right on the roof, and they made sure the thing was properly ventilated. They even removed insulation from the roof at the eaves because they said there was too much there and that it wasn't allowing enough ventilation. They went the extra mile, and they did it right. I'm confident that my roof will stand the test of time, which they guarantee. If it leaks, its Hansons' problem, not mine. When I see these guys come in and do that, now I know why they have that guarantee. The workmanship, I think, had to have been the best of my experience, especially since I was able to be here and see them do it. I would tell someone considering Hansons that you don't have to worry about being there. You don't have to take two days vacation. You can just trust the company to come in and do it and go to work and come home at night. That's a good thing, and it's really hard to find today. Everyone is trying to do everything faster and cheaper, and the quality normally suffers. What Hansons has going is very successful. It is only in Ohio and Michigan, so they also honor that their business doesn't want to get so big that it loses quality and customer care. I passed out their name to a lot of my friends and coworkers. I got three of those little cards they sent me in the mail. I've passed out their name. Whether they use my name or not I don't care, because when it comes to my friends and coworkers, I just want them to be as happy with their roof as I am. That's the one thing that Hansons told us: that they use only one shingle manufacturer, and they get the best price and the highest quality shingle. He said, if the roof is installed properly and the ventilation is proper, the shingles will certainly last or outlast the manufacturers' warranty. He said you don't have to worry about the warranty because they have a guarantee. When you tell someone that and then say, oh by the way, if you sell your home the guarantee goes to the new owner, they are impressed. We don't plan on selling our home, but if you did, it adds value to your home, and there is peace of mind. If something happens to your roof, they fix it. There is no monetary limit on the warranty. As a do-it-yourself family, when you start trying to add up the bill of materials to do it, and are you willing to risk fighting the warranty of the manufacturers, you're probably not going to do it right, and then of course you have to figure in all the time and the help you'll need, it's not worth the headache. You get peace of mind knowing one of the largest roofers in the country come in and guarantee it and do it that well; it's a no-brainer. I will continue to tell others about Hansons. read more

From my experience Hansons is a complete joke of a company. The salesman we had for a window estimate was here for about 3 hours. Said he could not leave until he called his boss like 3 times. I finally said either you leave or I will throw you out. My wife has refused to ever listen to another sales presentation ever. Thanks Hansons.... Funny thing is I just had them out for a roofing estimate so I could get free tickets to the festival in Holly that the name escapes me. Worst company ever! First, you'll overpay. Then the work they do will break and you'll need a repair. Then to get it fixed you will have to place an order online as their customer service doesn't do phone calls (probably because they would have to have to pay dozens of people to sit around take complains all day, more affordable to automate the process of all the claims). You'll then get an email saying they will call you within two business days. I'm currently on day 9 and still haven't heard from a human. I've left emails, tracked people down and left voice mails. Still nothing. Roof still leaks. Roof isn't even two years old. How this company is still in business is just incredible. Who are the idiots still using them? Please stop! read more

I will agree with the other reviewers that the spiel is long. But if you're inviting a salesperson into your home and not expecting some of their sales 'tricks', you're silly. And if you sign up for a contest and don't expect them to call and try to sell you something, you're insane. Why do you think companies have contests and giveaways? To get contacts and try to make sales! Anyway... our experience... We got a quote a year ago, and after the whole adventure, had second thoughts (thank goodness, because our fridge went out like a day later!). Yes, it's a pain that you have to drive to them and cancel/return the sign, but no different than a mattress company... they don't want to lose the sale. This year, we were ready. The initial quote was mind-bogglingly high, which of course makes the sales people look amazing when the start getting it lower and lower. Obviously, another sales gimmick, but hey, I got him to a range I was comfortable with, so I'm happy. The windows we were having replaced were awful, awful Wallside windows the previous owner had installed. Most were broken or malfunctioning and drafts came through all of them. Hanson's has a great product, a TRUE lifetime guarantee (unlike their competitors), and we were very pleased with the work. My only complaint is that it takes quite a while for them to manufacture the windows.. and on installation day, they sent ONE guy. Not sure if this is the norm or they were just busy.. but he still got 5 windows (one very large) installed in one day, did great work, and cleaned up after himself. We'll be replacing a few more within the year and will absolutely call Hanson's again. read more

I was on the phone with a man that seemed like he hated his job. in the backrest I hear this lady that sounds like a guy that has smoked way too much in the background cussing and cussing. VERY unprofessional. right there I should have known! anyway they asked for my wife's name? Ummmm NOT your business! so he moved on. then at the end of the call they said they'd see me only at 1 or 3PM if my wife can't be there? Greg Shulman illegal ran my credit. I decided not to use them so they ran my credit a bunch of times through multiple providers. Then when I tried to call and find out why he would not return my calls. The Vice President from the Lansing office confirmed that my credit should not have been ran and had no reason why it was done so many times and was at a loss of words with no explanation. Sorry your company was not worthy of doing the job but that was no reason to run my credit with out my consent. They took ten windows out before even looking at what they had in the truck, luckily they all fit, however one of my big slider doors was smashed on the truck and the screen was missing. Seems to me they would inspect all the windows on the truck before they physically took the current ones out of the house. Two days later I get a follow up call to see if I was happy and they weren't even aware that I needed a new slider window or screen. A week later I call to follow up because no one has called me and they tell me the sliders been ordered, but they didn't know about the screen and it's 4 weeks until I can get a replacement. Windows are A+ quality and the install crew was nice and cleaned up after themselves... but their communication from corporate just sucks and if you try to call to talk to someone you'll get stuck in their never ending voicemail press a button loop. Also, just get the price, skip the sales reps coming out.. their car salesman tactics and fake phone calls to reduce the price are from 3 generations ago and it's annoying for younger people in the digital age to sit though their presentation. We're used to comparing and shopping around. In the end, your paying about $3,000 more for Hansons warranty, but from the reviews, I doubt they be in business in 15 years, so buy at your own risk. read more

Nice siding, but bad work. The contractors Hanson's sent out arrived after 11am and left by 2pm every day. They rushed through my siding job, and did a bad job. One entire side of my house warped and they had to come out and re-do the whole thing. I paid extra to have Hanson's remove my awning and reinstall it after I fixed it. Hanson's guys did not have enough help, so I ended up hurting my back holding up my awning that I paid THEM $150 to put up, while they screwed it in. I also bought their upgraded insulation package. The salesman promised me that they would wrap my house with their proprietary tyvek-type wrap, and that they would cover every seam with tape so there was no drafts getting through. When the contractors came, they did not even have the tape with them. My home is more drafty now then it was before I got the siding and insulation!! Hanson's contractors missed caulking two windows on the front of my house; when I had them come back to fix it, they brought the wrong color caulk - and used it anyway. Now I have two-tone caulking on my front porch. I also had gutters installed. I told Hanson's to run my downspouts in a certain way to avoid ice dam build ups. They ignored my instructions, and ran them how they felt like it, and now I have ice dams on my roof all winter long. I requested service at one point, and the guy who came out did not do the service I requested; he tried to sell me insulation, and left. Never, never, never ever use Hanson's. They lie about a fabulous product and installation that you will never get. And they are OVERPRICED. I can not emphasize this last point enough. You will pay WAY TOO MUCH for what you get, and you will not get what they are promising. read more

I not only wouldn't recommend Hanson's to do your roof, I would warn against it. I agree with the other comments that they have high pressure salesman and I knew I could get it cheaper somewhere else. But all their claims of having the top installers in the country doing the work and being able to do all the work in 3-4 days made me feel like it was worth the premium price. My experience in a nutshell has left me with a sick feeling in my stomach that I've been swindled. It took 14 days to do the roof on my small house. I understand not all crews work weekends and that's fine but there were some weekdays that the crew didn't show up. I called Hanson's and was told that they couldn't get a hold of the crew. When the crew showed up the next day they said Hanson's had sent them to do a service call. Hanson's denied that when I called them. When the crew said they were done and I inspected my roof I found 6 exposed nails, one of my gutters missing, one gutter installed sloping backwards, away from the down spout and some of the roof edges so crooked the they had to cut off over a half inch to make it look somewhat straighter. My advice is to call someone local that's licensed and insured. I could have saved a couple thousand dollars if I would have. read more
