I had all new gutters installed on my home in Troy in April 2022. all the corner pieces installed wrong and leak. I actually had ice cycles hanging from the corners over the winter. I have been waiting since February 2023 to get it rectified. They have been out here 4 times and each service rep give me a different diagnosis and solution. meanwhile ZERO has been done to correct their crappy installatio. I could have kept my old leaky gutters and saved 5k!! I wish I would have read all the terrible reviews before writing a check. lesson learned. who can recommend a good roofing company??

I requested to have a new sliding door installed. They manufactured the sliding door with a wrong orientation, according to the installer. They made promises that they would come back and installed the correct one and they never did. It took a couple of months before it was sent to a regional manager, Garry Sherman, at 2485813030 x1050 and somehow my call is being dropped. At this point it's very aggravating to deal with this type of business ethics. Seven grand for this type of business is just terrible. It has no value. I will never do business with 1800hanson.

No communication. Mis-measured non functional windows for 2 months now. another business who doesn't have a concept of taking responsibility and saying two simple words when you screw up royally. Guess what they are?!

In keeping with the terrible reviews Hers' another. I contacted Hansons through their online form where I stated to only email me because I have a severe hearing disability. So my phone shows they tried to call me several times. My outgoing message also explains I cannot hear! I made an appointment but got no confirmation until 10 minutes before. I have not taken possession of the place and was not waiting around on a maybe. The confirmation could not be replied too. The text that was sent could not be replied too. They only accept phone calls. this is discrimination and I'm sick of these companies that get away with it. since Hanson's does not all your to reply in Email or text. I'm replying here. Have a nice day. Shop elsewhere

Why does my wife have to sit through a presentation to get a quote--"surely your wife can spare a half hour to sit with us and touch and feel the siding sample with her own hands? No, she is busy working."Then what time do you sit down to dinner together?" My wife does not care what company I use to side our house, we just want a QUOTE not a dinner guest. Also, "We would like to document you along your journey to have your project completed". Are you kidding me?! Why am I required to do all this weird stuff to get a quote?!!! This is not an encounter group. I just want my house sided. GOODBYE! Next. read more

My Hanson Experience: 1st appointment, scheduled for 3pm Saturday. No call, no show. Received a call from a customer service representative about 5:30 wanting to know how I liked the presentation. When I told her no one showed up she seemed surprised; apologized promised to look in to it, and asked if she could reschedule. I agreed to reschedule. 2nd appointment, 7pm Wednesday, and again, no call, no show. Call from customer service on Thursday said they were unable to confirm the appointment. I thought I had already confirmed the appointment as I waited around for salesman. It's rare I would not answer a call, but I can't say for sure whether or not a call came in, because unlike most reputable companies, Hanson blocks caller ID and does not leave voice mail messages. I told service representative I was no longer interested. She offered a $25 Visa gift card if I would give them another chance, so I agreed. Note I have not received said gift card. 3rd appointment. This time I got a call about 45 minutes before hand to let me sales representative was running behind and it would be at least 8:30pm before they could arrive. That seemed a bit late, and I did not want to be in a sales presentation while kids were getting ready for bed. Appointment was rescheduled, again promised a gift card, and also not received yet. 4th appointment, finally sales representative, Evan Carlson, arrives! Mr. Carson asks some questions about the roof took measurements and came in for sales presentation. The first thing that seemed odd was he measured roof at 26.83 square. The other 3 measurements I've had were between 22.5 and 23. I wasn't sure if he was just poor at math or if he was trying to inflate the price. I was presented with four offers. The first offer, "Econoline", was almost $7000 for a patch job. Really? Maybe the purpose of this offer is just to add value to the other packages; however, I would be embarrassed and ashamed for your company if someone actually took that offer. The "Ultimate", a metal roof product; I'm sure is a wonderful product but I knew going in that would be out of my budget. The "Builder's Choice" package I found interesting, in particular, because your presentation made a significant effort to emphases a quality product. This was clearly a sub-par product compare to others I've seen. Specifically the 3' ice shield, I have been told by contractors and other home owners in my research to not consider less than 6'. So that leaves the "Smart Choice". This seems to be a superior product to others I've seen. The attic work, extra venting, spray on coating clearly add value. As a note, after word I realized I was never given any specification for the shingles themselves, (weight, wind resistance). Now, the price, $20,000, well over double the next closest bid and 3 times the lowest. This price did not last long. When Mr. Carson realized this was much more than I was interested in spending, he got the price down to $16,000. He said this price was good for one year. But spent about 10 minutes trying to show the extra value would be worth it. When I said I wanted to think about it and was looking to get one more estimate, the price dropped to $13,000. When I said I wasn't interested in making a commit today, the price dropped again, now a first visit price of $10,000. Wow! Half off the original quote! At this point I was quite irritated. I clearly felt like he had been trying to rip me off with the first 3 quotes. I asked him to leave multiple times, and he actually got confrontational, and accused me of lying when I made the appointment because my wife was not at the sales pitch. In conclusion, I find it quite ironic that a sales pitch that put a considerable amount of emphases on choosing a reputable company came from company that clearly demonstrated they are not reputable before even beginning any work. read more

I'm overall I was happy with the work that Hansons did, but there were some problems like they didn't give me a exact start date and when the window installation will be done. They said we will come on Tuesday and then they never show up and call again and say we will finish the job on Thursday but they never did. I know that nobody would want to wait more then they should for window installation. This issue bothered me a lot and I'm being honest about what I didn't like about about Hansons. Overall the windows were good quality, but I didn't like the service. read more

I called Hansons to get a quote on a single window that had cracked and needed to be replaced. The sales person told me "oh, we only do minimum of four windows. Do you have three others that we can replace?" I was kind of bothered that a company would essentially think of a job as 'too small' or 'not worth their time.' I called three other window companies and scheduled free estimates within two days of calling. Doesn't seem like a very good business model Hansons has set up. read more

We scheduled a gutter job with 1800Hansons and was told it would take about one day to complete the job and that it would be finished within 3-6 weeks. 10 weeks later, it is not done, they have scheduled and cancelled on us 6 times (6 times!!) and when I finally got fed up and called to cancel, I was told I would be charged a cancellation fee! Dont ever try to call Hansons windows for anything! EVER... first of all there way over priced. We found this out after not having much a choice but to sign paperwork to go with them. other companies are half there price! Second my step dad brought the cancelation paperwork to there office in troy and they tried to not take it! Then when he was done arguing with the manager he asked for his signature on the cancellation paperwork so we had proof that we canceled there service. the manager would not sign it. and then after a few words he finally signed it, and the manager signed Abraham Lincoln! Terrible company who dont care about you just there to make money... First they said only 2000 for a new roof plus a new tablet (which the tablet was smaller than my phone) ending up being 6000 dollars for a roof that wasnt even leaking... after the big rainfall our whole ceiling started linking in our living room and now is about to collapse no one wants to help than wanted me to take another day off work just so they could come look. when they finally came at a time i was home he said this wasnt his fault and he would meet me in the middle? after all the years i have lived there i have never had a promblem than after i get my roof done theres water damage all in my living room! I had them out for an estimate on windows so I could get tickets to the renaissance festival. Unbelievably high estimate. I was not surprised when I decided to go with a competitor, the salesman did not have any tickets. I laugh when I see their commercials, currently offering something or another even if you don't go with them. That is 2 hours of my life I will not ever get back. read more

Worst experience of my life. A complete waste of time and money. The roofers destroyed my siding and still have not fixed it 4 months after installation which has now caused leaks onto my enclosed porch. All the guarantee's of no more ice damning it is the worst I've had in the 15 years in this house. The gutters were put on when no one was home and the paperwork stuffed in the door. Had a minimum of 3 sales/foreman out after completion of work with no answers to our complaints. All calls to there offices had us transferred all over. And most disturbing a top so call person named MARVIN yelled and pretty much call me wife every name in the book. I tell everyone I know not to use this company. I cannot even give this company 1 star. read more

over all our experience with hansons has been good. we had a bit of an issue with one of the 4 windows that we had installed. They really need to better train the people that come out to measure the windows because that is where the issues began. The manager that was incharge of the project was very apologetic and took responsibility for the issue. They also compensated us which was nice. read more

I just recently had my garage roof redone by the mighty Hansons. The roof looks awesome, very impressed with the job they did. They go the extra mile with materials and treating every project as if it was a lunar landing. My complaint comes mainly with communicating price, and execution of said project. After several times over the house with two different representatives and a scheduled cancelation that my wife took off work early for was very frustrating. The crew that came out to build the roof did an impressive job with the roof, clean up was another story. Things weren't exactly put back where they originally were, and i'm a relaxed guy so it was not a big deal but they didn't even try. It was moved and then that was it. Nails were big issue afterwards as well. Lots of nails to find, still finding them, actually my sons are, they're 5 and 6 years old, Fun. And then there's the trip to urgent care from the nail I found. Luckily the shoe stopped a lot of it. So it's definitely been interesting. Do I think Hanson can put up a roof and do a great, amazing job, YES. Do I think there's a lack of communication between execution, installation and expectation, YES. It's hard to find someone to do a good job on your roof, believe me I looked everywhere. It's even harder trying to find a price point and customer service that understands how to communicate that successfully. I think it comes down to people and being genuine. That's a difficult thing to find now a days. I think Hanson's is trying to do that. I just think they have a ways to go. read more

The salesperson refused to even give me a quote for siding because my wife was unable to make it to the appointment. This is despite the fact that I explained to the scheduler and the salesperson that the property is an investment property owned in an LLC which is 100% owned by myself. Extremely poor customer service, and possibly discrimination based on marital status. read more

So sad Hanson's wouldn't give me a quote. The agent showed up an hour late for the appointment, well after dark, and then refused to measure and go over options with me because my husband wasn't home. With two children in sports and school activities, a husband working a full time job and finishing up his masters degree, it isn't possible to catch us both together. And when we have that moment together, the last thing we want to do is spend it with a siding agent. They really should re-think their policy. To top it off, the guy said to me that the quote isn't as good when the couple isn't present together. Wow. read more

I am a fan of the whole process except for the install scheduling part of it. It so happened that the job before mine was a very large job so after rescheduling from a previous day due to an emergency cancellation the morning of, I scheduled a 12-2 install time slot that became a 1-230 time slot, that became a 4-5 time slot and the installers got there at 5:30. They did a great job and the guys were very nice and the install went very quickly as my job was not very large. It was just a little frustrating with the job before mine taking longer than expected. Someone scheduling maybe should have looked at the bigger job and booked a longer install time for that one. read more

I called to schedule a roofing quote on multiple condo roofs. The operator who I was speaking to was not well informed on the process of roofing a condo. Plus, his cell phone was making multiple sounds which tells me he was getting some sort of activity on his phone and he's actually working on his cell phone at the same time he was speaking to me. CAN YOU SAY RUDE??? Finally, this particular operator could not answer my questions regarding condo roofing, so had to "axe" his manager and get back to me. Come to find out that because our condo roofs are adjoined and not separated, and because of the HOA, Hansons decided they will not perform any roofing job on adjoining roofs and because of the HOA. ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THAT??? Please, do not call this company for your roofing job. read more

We had Hanson come out and give us a price and we agreed to use them. The next day or so a guy showed up and measured all the windows to be replaced, he told us it normally takes around a month to have that many windows made . A month passes and then we get a phone call to set up the installation date and time. We aranged time off work and moved our home around to allow for the installation crew to be able to work..( its required for home owner to do this ). The crew shiws up..ripps off the siding around the old windows and start taking them out. After 3 windows had been removed partvof the war rew decided to start installing the new windows and finds that all THE windows had been measured WRONG and NONE of the new windows would fit....we ended up having to have THEM put the old windows back in except for 1 and secured the other new ones with a TON OF FOAM. It took another full month to get new windows made..we had to rearrange our home again . After all the heartache the company refused to give us any kind of payment for causing all the hassle...and it WAS there mans fault...100 lousy bucks..wow..the product is good and Inst. Crew were nice guys...Hanson windows the company sucks big time....use WALLSIDE people. read more

We placed an order for windows and siding with Hansons on April 9. They stated that our project would be complete by mid July...We received a call in June to install our siding However, the windows were not done yet so they had to wait...The windows were finally installed at the end of July with a broken window and a new window was put in improperly... The cracked window has been fixed, but the new window has not been handled and after threatening to call the news channels, they finally agreed to an install date of September 4 After being pushed off twice...The product was all dropped off the 4 th, but the installer left the premises stating that they did not have what they needed to do a two-story installation. We have hosted a graduation party birthday party, and two visits from guests out of state. Today, nobody has showed up, the wind has blown our product all over the place, and we have heard nothing about installation read more

How are they even in business? How do they sleep at night knowing they scam people all day long? I got sucked into their advertising stating they have guaranteed lowest prices, no sales pressure, etc. Sales guy came to my house and immediately started bashing all the competition which was extremely unprofessional. He then tried to tell me that they had the only rubberized shingle and that they were the only ones with 3M Scotchgard. Go to 3M's website and you will see many other shingle manufacturers have it. The shock is when he gave me the estimate. Almost $45K for the job. I told him he was way off and that a local roofer quoted me $24K with similar products (shingles, underlayment, etc). He then came down to $36K. I laughed as I literally just told him his competitions price and he still tried to get my business $12K higher. He then got all upset and after doing numerous calculations for 5 minutes he scribbled $24K on the quote and tossed it across the table to me. I was SHOCKED! He then asked if we had a deal and I told him "Absolutely not, you just dropped your price over $21K in 10 minutes which means you were trying to take advantage of me. You can leave now". I literally had to open my front door and stand by it while he packed up his stuff and left. After doing some negotiations with local roofer and removing some stuff I didn't need (like metal valleys) and opting for a cash option I actually got them down to $18,500...much better than Hansons initial $45,000! This company preys on uneducated people with no backbone to stand up for themselves and it's sad. If you use this company you are for sure getting scammed. Just look at the hundreds of bad reviews you can find anywhere online. read more

UPDATE as of 8/30/2015 - Hanson's sent out an expert installer and my Mom is now very happy with her sliding glass door. We wish the experience had been smoother, but she is happy now, and that counts for something. Thank you Hanson's for honoring your commitment to my Mom! My Mom ordered a replacement doorwall (sliding glass door) from a Hanson's Windows Sales Representative on June 6, 2015. The Sales Rep. measured her existing doorwall, gave her a price, and she paid a deposit. Two weeks later a Hanson's Representative came out and did the final measurements before ordering the doorwall. Two weeks after that, Hanson's called, scheduled the installation, then cancelled because it was raining. I guess they don't know about battery operated power tools. Anyway, they rescheduled for the following week. The installer arrived with the doorwall, and announced he could not install it because it was the wrong size. Since that time my Mom has been trying to find out when she could expect her doorwall. She has been told that the person who did the measurements made a mistake, and they needed to order a new doorwall. She has been told that they have no idea when she could expect installation because they don't know when they are going to get the doorwall. Finally, after calling the Vice President for Customer Service, she was told Hanson's will get the doorwall the third week of August. They do not have a date they plan to install the doorwall. IF they install the doorwall the last week of August it will be 13 weeks from the date that she signed the contract and paid the deposit. The so-called "customer service" department is argumentative and talks in an irritated tone of voice to my Mom when she tries to find out what is going on. This behavior extends all the way up to the Vice President of Customer Service. He argued with my Mom on the phone, and when he promised her he would find out what was going on and that he would call her back on a specific day, he did not call her back. When she called him again, he said, "I know I promised to call you back, I dropped the ball." This is unacceptable. If you like to be frustrated, this is the company for you. read more

Over the past decade, we've had 2 separate projects replacing windows in our home, the first time with Jack's and more recently with Hanson's. Jack's commercials may be amusing but they don't project the best image -- he comes off as kind of a slick salesman, which made us a bit hesitant. But the experience we had with his people at every step of the process was top notch. The product was excellent -- they looks great, operate smoothly, and our heating bills dropped significantly. When the seal on one unit failed several years later, their customer service people were extremely friendly and immediately arranged for a replacement unit. Overall we were very impressed with everything... except maybe the commercials. Then recently, we made the decision to replace some more of the windows in our home. Despite the fact that we had such a positive experience with Jack's, we hadn't seen very many of his commercials in recent years, and we were aware of the fact that he's actually based in Indiana, not Michigan, so we assumed (incorrectly) that he wasn't really very active in the West Michigan market any longer. By contrast, we've seen Hanson's yard signs all over our area, and their commercials make them seem like a top-notch, family-oriented company, so we ended up going with them instead. Big mistake. Their windows are indeed extremely energy efficient, but other aspects of the window design are far inferior to the product we had gotten from Jack's. Even little issues like the quality of the screens has been a major struggle to get fixed, and the way they handled some other issues was borderline deceptive. They start out seeming to be nice and friendly, but when problems arise, their attitude changes quickly. Suffice to say, if we ever need to replace any of the other windows in our home, we'll go back to Jack's rather than Hanson's. It's kind of funny in that both companies turned out to be the opposite of the image portrayed in their advertisements: Hanson's is the somewhat sleazy operator out to make a buck, and Jack's is the highly professional, service-oriented organization, at least in our experience. And judging from the other Yelp reviews, we're not the only ones to feel that way. I wish we had checked Yelp before going with Hanson's. read more

Let me tell you a story. My wife and I were visiting some friends in Toledo, OH when a Hanson's rep stopped by their house to give them an estimate for a new roof. As it turns out they thought they were in need for a new roof so they accepted. We were all very eager to spend the next day together, as we were only going to be in town for two days. So needless to say we were hoping that this "appointment" would not take very long. The next morning came and as promised two VERY well dressed Hanson salesman came to the house. They spent about 15 minutes walking the perimeter of the house, measuring as they went. Somehow this walk around the house was sufficient to, not only provide a fixed price, but also to highly recommend a new roof since this roof is "extremely old". After they completed their walk around they asked to speak to both Jim and Nelly. The Hanson's rep said that they need to speak to both the husband and the wife. As soon as I heard those words I realized exactly what was happening. Several years ago my wife and I were met at our door by a door-to-door contractor salesman. This person occupied "HOURS" of our time and hit us with every high pressure sales tactic they had. Hanson was no exception. They did the same exact thing. The reason they want both decision makers is so that the excuse, "let me talk to my husband/wife" can never be used. Not only did the Hanson reps use high pressure sales tactics but they also made false claims. They told Jim and Nelly that their roof was 25 years old and in need of replacing. They also told them that they needed siding on the garage and new gutters. Hansons found every opportunity to up sell that they could, even when it wasn't necessary. When Hanson's finally did give their price it was not a fixed bid. They proceeded to negotiate at every turn. It sounded like my friends were buying a used car. They finally settled on their final price of $8,900 dollars for an 1127 sq. ft. two story house. Being convinced that a competitive bid was necessary I decided to call a company called Holt Roofing in Toledo, OH. The very next day the rep from Holt came out. He was the exact opposite from the Hanson reps. He actually had a ladder with him. Hard to believe that you might need a ladder to provide a quote for a new roof. The Holt rep looked at the roof for 5 minutes and said that it was perfectly fine and was maybe 12 years old. He made a few recommendations that really seem to make sense and there was NO pressure at all. When asked what a new roof would cost, he said maybe $5,200 dollars, much less then Hansons. Hanson's may do quality work but they pressure and their prices make them a company that I would not recommend doing business with. If you are in Toledo, call Holt! read more

TRUST ME.....AVOID HANSONS AT ALL COSTS!!! Upon signing the contract for replacement siding on my house, Hansons told me and my wife that it would be 6-8 weeks before the installation, so it was okay to take time picking out a color. One week later, Hansons called and said they were coming out in the next few days, so we had to pick out a color immediately. So we picked out a color, and scheduled a date for the work to be done. My wife took the day off work, without pay, to be home when the workers came. Not only did Hansons not show up, they didn't even call to tell us why they weren't coming. As we were frustrated by Hansons neglect of respect for our time, I called to discuss the situation with a manager, and request some form of financial restitution for my wife's lost wages (as she was now going to have to take another day off). I was eventually transferred to the President of Hansons, and explained the situation. Although he was very courteous, he said he couldn't do anything to help, and that I would have to make my request with the owner, Brian Elias...so he forwarded my call to Brian. When Brian picked up the phone, I politely stated my name and asked if he was briefed on the situation. Without provocation, Brian launched an immediate verbal attack on me saying that he didn't care who I was or what I wanted, he wouldn't do anything to help me. I was stunned by his response and asked if he had me mixed up with someone else, and asked if he knew what the situation was. Brian responded by saying it didn't matter what I was calling about, that he deals with "people like me" every day, and he could care less what I had to say. I asked him if this is how he treats all his customers and he said, only the difficult ones (again, this was all unprovoked, as I said nothing up front other than my name). I then told him that if this is how he treats his customers, I would rather not do business with Hansons and will pull my business away. Brian immediately responded saying that he didn't care if I pulled it because he would just sue me for breach of contract. I again was shocked and asked how he could expect to run a business treating people like this. He again said he didn't care what I thought and backed me into a corner.....get the work done or get sued. No matter what I tried to say to or ask of Brian, he treated me with utter disrespect and rudeness. As upset as I was, I told him that I would have no choice but to get the work done, as I did not have the money to get caught up in a lawsuit...but I promised to make sure everyone I know is made aware of his business practices....which I have held true to since the day I spoke with Brian. read more

We had a 3 panel slider door replacement done by 1-800 Hanson's. It was not a good experience for us. They delivered the wrong size door (30 inches too wide) and we had to wait weeks for a replacement. Meanwhile they screwed our old door back in, but we were unable to open it. When they finally installed the new door it was not the same size as the opening so they "made" it fit. The color was not what I ordered, the lock did not work correctly, one of the panels had a leak and they had to replace that section. One of the rails had a large scratch, and when they returned with the replacement it was the wrong side (left vs. right) so they had to re-order. I expected the installation to take one day but due to the mix-ups we took many days off work to be there for the installers. The actual door is nice but if you don't have a standard size window or door that is white, I would not recommend Hanson's. read more

Please educate yourself prior to signing a contract with this company. We had them out to quote our roof replacement. Thankfully I was somewhat familiar with the materials and procedure. They quoted us $13,000 dollars to replace our small roof. They told us that was half off labor. I recieved other quotes of $4000 dollars. These companies use the same quality material and complete the job in the same time frame, and offer the same waranties. Ultimately I was able to purchase the top of the line shingles and application material and hire a company to provide the labor for $3300.00. Saving $9700.00 dollars. As a side note the guy who came out to measure and quote tried to inflate the size of the roof thus inflating the price. The difference in the roof size would have been a $4000.00 rip off. I intend to notify the BBB and state attorney generals office. This may be a common practice by Hansons and needs to be looked in to. read more

I wish I could give either zero, or preferable NEGATIVE STARS FOR HANSON'S! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CHEATING COMPANY! Check out the long list of problems on complaintsboard.com about Hanson's and their thievery. They are unprofessional and will not take any complaint you have seriously. Their corporate VP (Steve Sigismond) and Lansing, MI branch manager (Shawn) called me names, threatened me and did everything they could to get out of not correcting the problems with their horrible roofing installation. I wish you could see my roofboards that were SUPPOSED to be replaced! Calling Hanson's was one of the worst mistakes I've made in my life. I only hope that by posting reviews online such as this that others will do some due diligence and find out how bad this company is BEFORE they make a similar mistake. They will take your money and insult you along the way. I am sure there are some satisfied customers out there, and that's fine. But when you have a PROVEN problem (we had the local building inspector verify the multiple installation issues) and the company refuses to make it right, and calls you every name in the book and threatens you to just to get paid, what does that tell you? BTW...I am NOT a competitor. I am a homeowner who was completely screwed over by this company (I had to hire a lawyer from Miller-Canfield to get them to even attempt to correct the faulty installation, which still isn't done correctly), and wish to prevent others from the same fate. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! read more

This is the worst company ever! They do not return your calls, show up at your house randomly without a call and start measuring your doors outside if you are sleeping and do not answer the door for an unscheduled appt, The sliding glass door we ordered was to be two panels, we had a 8 foot 1 inch door with a 44 inch door opening. The installed a triple panel door with a 23 inch opening. This is not even code for an outside door opening! What legitimate company makes a door that small and not up to code. We were not asked if we wanted three panel door with opening in the middle; there was no communication! They offered to remake the door and 6 weeks later came with a door that had a dark tint and was 5 inches smaller. I want light! I asked for my old Pella door back as it was much better quality. The one lock fell off the next day and they forgot to install the foot lock and screen door lock. I went 2 1/2 months before the locks were finally installed. i called and requested a quote for a roof and when the sales lady came i told her i was looking just for a quote and not sure when i was going to get it done. she was really nice and explained everything to detail when sometimes i did not agree with her she got a little cocky and i could notice it well. she quoted me my prices and when i said i will think about it, she called her boss or whoever and they lowered the price a little saying the wanted to get more bussiness out here in hudsonville area and alot of homes looked like they were going to need roofs, and then when i still said i will think about it, she immediately shut right up didnt talk anymore and grab her stuff and left. little did she know i am going to get a roof soon but i wanted to get more quotes before i told her yes, as i would have bought from her but after her attitude i will not buy from them. she was very pushy and made me feel like i didnt know what i was talking about and i was stupid for not taking the deal. a deal of 17,000... dont sound like no deal to me. now i see why they dont have bussiness out here in hudsonville michigan. read more

My experience with Hanson's started off well. I was able to get a sales rep to my house quickly who was really cool about me being 10 min late. From there it got bad. The sale rep had no idea what he was doing and was buried under paperwork as thou they were operating in the nineteenth century. Only measured the window for show, meaning the size of the window had nothing to do with the price. I was given a price of $461 for one window. He told me I could pay over a year interest free at $13/month, which would complete the balance. After i told him that math didn't added up, that 13 * 12 = 156$ he told me I was wrong, apparently math was different in the nineteenth century also. I'm sure this was an attempt to trick me into a payment plan that would force me to pay the remaining balance at 25% interest. Three days later, on the day of the "real" window measure I received a call from the manger. Apparently the price I was given and signed off on was too low and there price would not be honored. If you buy from them, be careful they are SHADY!!!!!!!!!! read more

Just a bit of personal knowledge here, and a lot of " live and learn" regret.... We recently had the unfortunate opportunity of having our roof done by 1-800 Hanson's. The awful customer service and horrible rudeness of the General Manager was totally deplorable !!! We tried to get out of the contact after almost 3 mo of them doing nothing and expecting us to advertise in our yard ( not so much ) we were stuck unless we wanted to pay 6 grand to get out of it. They got us! The sales rep told us about every story there was almost with tears as he was under the thumb of the General manager, eventually the roof got done with a crew that had to come all the way from Howard City, one night they were here until 8 pm, neighbors were not too happy about them going to the bathroom behind our garage but they got the job done ... start to finish July 21 to Oct 16th... We would NEVER recommend this place for anything! we did learn a lesson... SHOP LOCAL !!! not to mention they called me "the bitch from Grand Haven" wow! read more

Don't use Hansons. Call and gets quotes from other companies. We had rotting wood around our house. Hanson's promised us the world on how wonderful it would look. They failed to mention that because they were covering the wood up over 10 year old siding that the install of the new moldings and fascia would be wavy and not fit properly. It looks like a 9 year old installed it. Now, we have to paint all of our gutters and siding because the white that they said would look fabulous, simply looks horrible. I would recommend just getting the wood replaced and repainted by a reputable company.if you don't want to spend another $5K replacing other stuff when they are through. We would have saved $7,000 plus the additional $5,000 and it would have looked much better. Also, be prepared for their quote to be double of what they will initially get down to. They started our quote at nearly $17k then played the game of haggling til they left at $10K. I should have kicked them out when these shenanigans began. Horrible, Horrible company!!! read more

This company is the worst company I have ever came across. We needed are roof done so we called Hanson's from seeing commercials on TV. When we set up the appointment and thought every was set all of a sudden we kept getting back to back calls about the same appointment. It had gotten so bad with the calls that we decided to stop answering the calls until the appointment. On the day of the appointment Hanson's called again and we answered because we thought they were calling to confirm just to tell us the salesman couldn't make the appointment. We were upset but we decided to just make another appointment when the day came for the next appointment a manager showed up at our door with apologies saying your salesman couldn't make it again and saying we will send you a gift card for your troubles. After we went over the paper work because we had had a previous price for our roof that still stood he said we were all set. Next our salesman was coming again and he finally showed for us to sign the paperwork and assured us everything was set to go so we thought everything was fine. Next there financing department started calling for the payment and we made the payment so again we were all set. We didn't here from Hanson's over a week after that so we started calling nd leaving messages constantly with the manager then he finally decides to call back again saying we are set just waiting for the install date and pressing that 25.00 gift card business for our troubles. We finally here from a lady from Hanson's saying the installers are finishing up on a project but we are next on the list unless they run into problems or something or if weather permits. Then this same lady calls the next day saying oh they cannot make it this week but next week the installers will be there so we say ok. When the next week came a project managers calls to say hi and if anything goes wrong she will let us know and leaves her number. Not even 30 minutes later the project manager says the installers cant do your roof its unsafe for them and we will quote you a price for the extra materials that's needed and at this point I just couldn't believe it and was stuck on the phone in disbelief of the actions of Hanson's. I wanted the installers to stay about 20 more minutes because my husband was on his way back from a doctors appointment so he could talk to them and they sad they would stay and when I walked away the left so by the time my husband all we could do was ask for our money back because this was just insane and at first they told us we could not get our money back until my husband unleashed the fury upon Hanson's and the vice president finally said we will have your money back in your account the next morning. In the meantime Hanson's tried to make us feel like they were doing us a favor with the price they quoted us from the start like they were some friend of ours or something and constantly apologizing talking about we drop the ball somewhere and the roof should have been checked out better and then telling us if my husband wouldn't have argued on the phone they would have ate most of the cost for the extra cost for the roof and we just would have to pay a smaller portion of the 3 or 4 thousand more. This was such a bad experience from start to finish with this company just one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with and I have had dealings with bad companies but this experience took the cake on any other company I have ever dealt with. read more

My parents had hansons do the roof of their house. Not that long after it was installed they had to come out and do some repairs. Now there's a hole in the roof and water leaking into the house. We had to have 3 people come out regarding the damage. The first guy said there was nothing wrong after going up on the roof. The second guy blamed the water damage inside the house on some missing siding and disregarded the fact that there was even a hole. We had to cover the hole with a shingle and tar just to keep the water out since hansons wouldn't come fix it. The third time the superintendent came out but didn't bother to go on the roof due to the rain and I kept telling him there was a hole and that was the reason water was coming into the house and it had nothing to do with siding and he kept disregarding what I was saying and acted like I was lying to him. He then got an attitude with me when I called him out on acting like I was lying. The guy then said that he'd be back in the morning with a crew and they would go up on the roof to check it out and determine if they were going to fix it or not. Hansons as a company isn't worth what they charge people to do anything. After the guy left I made a complaint with the BBB. My mom told me later that Hanson's called saying they would be out the next week to fix the roof. Maybe the complaint to the BBB did the trick. And hopefully they will fix it properly so we won't have to call them again to honor their warranty. I would never call Hanson's ever again for anything. They are ridiculous and a joke and the company should be dissolved or at least sold to someone who cares about their customers and about proper business and ethical dealings seeing as though Brian Elias does not. read more

First, I'm only leaving one star because Yelp won't let me leave zero stars. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate for windows more than a week in advance. The salesman never showed up, I did get the courtesy of a phone call 1.5 hours after he should have been there. Someone followed up two days later to see if I wanted to go ahead with their product, I let them know no one ever came to give me an estimate. Like a sucker, I let them set up another appointment. No one ever showed up for the second appointment and I didn't even get a courtesy call this time. Well, daily for the last 17 days I've had a missed "unknown" call on my cell phone. Today, I finally was finally able to take the call. The young, pleasant, woman was calling to see if I'd made a decision. I'm confident she'll remove me from their call log now after our conversation. This place is a joke. Save yourself the time and the headache. Call Wallside. read more

1-800-Hansons provided extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY, poor customer service at every level of the organization. They made what should be an exciting home remodel be complete and utter frustration in a matter of minutes. And when this was pointed out to them, the ineptitude only compounded and continued. They have demonstrated zero, and I mean ZERO, communication between departments and their subcontractors. (Yes - ALL subcontractors were used for my job). The guys would come out for each leg of the remodel having no idea what they were sent out to do, having the wrong equipment (no ladders?), the wrong gutters, not knowing about needing to replace rotting wood (something that was clearly communicated) etc. The entire process was unbelievable! And their website is a joke. They give you an avenue to communicate directly with "the owner" but he never gets the message or simply doesn't return your calls. Fortunately, karma will serve it's purpose here. :) Be warned! read more

Yikes. I had siding installed by Hanson's. The job was to take 10 days, according to the signed contract. It is now day 71 (including weekends) and the job is just now completed, but still lots of flaws. Although a building permit is not needed on siding in my county, I ended up called the building inspector when the job was deemed completed by Hanson's. The building inspector told us that the job was NOT up to code. We had cracked siding, all corner posts were installed upside down, siding was cut too short in many places, soffets were put up wrong, electrical covers were not replaced (and were no where to be found) To top that off, the installers took down my existing gutters and they were destroyed. I have no idea why they were taken down in the first place but I had to fight to get them to install new gutters. Hanson's ended up sending a new crew out. All siding had to be removed, new corner posts put up, siding re-installed. Building inspector was here four times! Siding had hundreds of bent nails, which would have prevented it from expanding in hot weather. On the final day, I asked for compensation for all the grief. Hanson s offered me $1500 off the cost of the job. My siding job was $29,772. I would not accept that offer. Within hours, the manager from the Grand Rapids office, Gary Sherman, drove to my home with a notice that he would put a lien on my home and that that could sue us as well. An executive from the main office in Troy did authorize a $2000 reduction of the bill. I have hundreds of pics of the poor workmanship, the mess they left for over one month in my yard etc. I realize that Hanson's has many locations and, perhaps, others are more professional and more honest than the Grand Rapids office, however, I advise to stay clear of this outfit. I should have checked out BBB. Had I done so and saw how many complaints were registered, I never would have hired this company Work was started Jan. 27, 2016 and was completed yesterday, April 6, 2016. Waiting for a Hanson's rep to pick up my final payment of $15,772. today. Bad experience all the way around. Beware. read more

we had Hansons replace our bay window and 2 other living room windows. our bay window was not supported well therefore they had to reschedule in order to have the right materials leaving us with a piece of ply wood over a huge hole in the front of our house. a week later they were suppose to come back out and cancelled at the last minute (after I had to take the day off of work). when we called to complain the lady on the phone told me she "could of had let it go but didn't" in regards to trying to find someone else to come out to do the job. when the person finally came out they had not communicated to him what needed to be done therefore he could not do it. finally the job go done a week later. they left us with a broken window and didn't even give us the exterior materials we ordered. again no help from customer service and no apologies for how much they messed up our order. horrible service read more

SO disgusted with this company!! I signed on for siding and window for my house in July 2015. The salesman Chris was very helpful and not pressuring at all- other than the 60 minute appointment turned into a 3 hour appointment...I was very excited about our new windows and siding and even displayed their HANSONS sign in my yard... The siding and the windows are very nice, however, the contractors used and customer service are far worse than horrible...to say the least..The sub-contractor who came to install my windows did a very shotty job. All my windows (8) trim are white, he installs nude wood quarter round- to make the window meet my existing interior trim- and then leaves a 2 inch gap from the bottom!! He damaged the majority of my interior trim trying to take it off, broke the casing on the Bay window when he installed it, then acted like he could GLUE IT and it would be fine!!! Called customer service and was told they would get me a new window but it would take another 8 weeks...still waiting on that window to be installed.. . The sub contractor who came to install my siding (I happened to personally know.. ex of a family member)but when he finished the siding (which took 2 weeks because he didnt show up til 10am and the left by 3pm and worked alone)there was supposed to be a walk thru and a satisfaction card completed, he stated the contractors filled the card out and a Hanson's rep wont ever actually come out and do a walk through, even thought they might tell you they will. I had issues with some of the siding not being SECURED TO MY HOUSE and gaps and holes, I called Hansons I was very rudely told that things happen and they will fix it so RELAX!! really relax? Think HANSONS will RELAX if I mess with paying or not paying my bill? As of today still waiting on a new window, gutters were supposed to be installed today, I was the only scheduled appointment I was told. Yet as of 1:56pm, still no contractor has come to install the gutters. Called spoke to David Elias, he explained NORMALLY they call when they need to reschedule, but I beat them too it. I explained that I have called numerous times, because appointments were made, yet we werent notified until the day before; appointments that were set, weren't kept on several occasions, the start times never accurate, every time you call Hansons the customer service makes you feel like you are bothering them from their real job...David acted like he was concerned, but his empathy needs some work. Lori C. was supposed to be my project coordinator (HAHAHA), but I constantly had to call and be my own project coordinator; checking on days and times and confirming. David could care less. He just kept saying this isnt how it NORMALLY works, well after 3 months of working with HANSONS, Im not quite sure anybody there knows how it actually is SUPPOSED TO WORK!! Hansons is about customer satisfaction until you sign...once you sign their dotted line, you become one of their victims...David Elias assured me that their practices and policies are always customer oriented and followed to the T...Well if they are, then why are there so many complaints that are all the same? OH FYI the subcontractors they use, they don't screen, because my siding contractor (the one I knew) I know for a fact that his license has been suspended for too many drunk driving offenses...I guess Hanson's only cares about looking good for commercials, not who is actually representing their company by the CRAP labor they hire. I will personally tell everyone I know and ANYONE who wants to listen my horrendous story and dealings with the very unprofessional Hansons. I think I would have gotten better if I would have went with the rip off king JACK!! read more

Don't bother wasting your time with Hanson's. I had Hanson's out last night to give me a quote. It took 3 reschedules in 1 week to get them to come out. The before they give you the quote, they have you watch a video, then they insist you enter a review on their site before you get the quote. Christian, the salesman, told me he would calculate my discount before he took off the $600 monthly promo. I was tracking his math, and it was wrong, I even brought it up to his attention. And he insisted he did not say that. He put a sign in my yard for an extra 2% discount, but that 2% turned out to be like more than 0.5% because every discount he took off, was the previous discounted price. One time when he called into the office, he was supposedly talking to someone, I have good hearing, and at the end of the conversation, I heard his phone say "You have reached the maximum length for message...". I elected not to say anything to see if he was telling the truth, and sure enough, he said he got permission to give me another discount. After he left, I replayed the recorder that he didn't know I was recording, and sure enough in his own words "To save you more money, I will calculate your discounts on the original price before I subtract the Promo savings" So in the end, if you do the calculations, it was a difference of close to $60 I would lose out on just for that 1 discount. Overall it was a difference of more than $1,300 I would loose out on because of the way he calculated it. Therefore; it was not really a discount. I showed him my math before he left, and walked him through it, but he insisted he couldn't give me the discounts off the beginning price because it wouldn't show up correctly and he could get in trouble. Needless to say, I have cancelled the window measurement for next week. Scheduling the appointment - worse appointment service and lack of respect for your time: I had set up the appointment for Friday 11/24/2017 morning at 9AM. I got a call that day at 9:24 AM saying that they wanted to schedule my appointment for Saturday 11/25/2017 at 10 AM. I reminded them that they were already supposed to be there, and they couldn't find the appointment anywhere. I rescheduled the appointment for Saturday 11/25/2017 at 10:00 AM. I even reschedule my appointments to make time for them to come seeing they had already missed the appointment for Friday. Saturday morning at 8:51 AM, I got a call from Hanson's saying the sales person could not make it out until noon. I was irritated as I had already rescheduled all of my appointments for the morning. But I gave them another chance. at 11:52 AM, I got a call from the salesman saying we couldn't make it until between 1:30 and 2. They had just wasted my day and I told him to forget it and cancel it. Monday 11/27/2017 morning at 9:24 MA I got a call from Hanson's apologizing. They said they wanted to send out a sales person and a manager and they would make it right. They promised me a Pro-Cam camera and a Visa gift card to let them have another try. So I scheduled it for 4:00 PM, and the salesperson arrived promptly at 4PM. No manager accompanied him, and he obviously wasn't a manager if he had to call and get permission to give me a discounted price. When Christian (Chris) B left last night, he left his business card and he is not a manager. I had heard from a friend that they use contractors and some were sketchy. So I asked Chris if that was the case, and he said that they ran background checks on all installers before they got certified to install the windows. CT read more

Part 2 conclusion of my Hansons Review done under Detroit location, but same company...... All this in light of their statements that, their roofers would be "fighting over my job" because the condition of the roof decking boards was "straight", and that the roof was simple with only one ridge. When asked about installation timing, an initial 6 to 8 week wait was quoted, but they felt that this could be adjusted to 2 weeks. When asked about how many were in the crew, it went to about 4 people, but seemed more like 2 would be doing it based on the hedging of their answer to commit how many. When asked about the cleanup, it of course would be superb, and walk arounds before and after the job would be done by involving the homeowner with the crew chief. When asked about specific nails ( serrated nails with extra holding power as used by one of their competitors) they knew nothing about this nail. Interestingly, at the conclusion of the meeting, the lead presenter seemed frustrated, as while heading toward the vehicle, kept talking with her back to me while walking with no face to face communication, including not even a "thank you" for my time or consideration of their service. Albeit, being rejected on a sale proposal may and is painful, a salesperson should still accept not everyone agrees and there will be rejection, even after the target customer makes a counteroffer. This speaks volumes of the company at an additional level of company values. I hope this detailed synopsis provides some insight as to what you might expect when calling a big-box company with a canned presentation that is strategically designed to coerce you into a sale you might not want. As it were, I contacted an independent roofer who had done my roof before, and who took less than 15 minutes to provide a quote and shingle literature. My due dilegence begins at researching shingle quality and color, of which shingle quality was the main emphasis of Hansens strategy with a "lifetime guarantee" that may yet need further clarification beyond a simple "no fine print" sheet printed on an ink jet printer. In closing, good luck to homeowners in your search for reputable contractors, and I merely provide this for your information and not to swear and cuss about a bad experience. The above facts speak for themselves. I never accuse. I quote facts. Cheers. read more

I am writing this review based upon my experience six months after Hanson's windows replaced some of my windows and my sliding glass door. First of all, Hanson's is not a contractor that will leave you waiting with unanswered phone calls and questions. They are always prompt, courteous, and well-versed in the complexities of proper window replacement. At the time of my project, they carried three types of windows, all at different price points. Their top tier, the ultimate, is unmatched in quality and energy efficiency. The windows are tightly sealed and have a heavy, dense feel to them. Indeed, the moment they were installed, the difference we felt in overall comfort was beyond our wildest dreams. The installation fit and finish is literally perfect. The windows are custom built in the USA for every frame, and the installation team made the windows look better than brand new. I cannot say enough good things about how wonderful the installation looks. Six months after we had them put in, we had one minor adjustment issue with our sliding glass door, which was covered under warranty. It took longer than I would have liked to get someone out to look at it, so this was one negative point on an otherwise perfect experience. The owner, Brian, was apologetic and did what he could to fix the problem, so it wasn't enough to make me dock them a star. Fortunately, that's the only nit I have to pick. The other nice surprise was how tidy Mr. B's team was. When they showed up, the team laid down drop cloths throughout my entire house. They worked quickly and with military precision, and finished the job by the early afternoon. When they were done, not a speck of dirt was left on my carpet. Fantastic! All this does come at a cost-- don't look to Hanson's Windows if you want box store windows at cheap prices and Made-In-China quality. I've seen what happens when people go cheap on windows, and it isn't pretty. They'll be flimsy, offer little protection when the temperatures sway, and don't slide open and closed in a straight, easy line. Needless to say, if you don't invest properly in high-quality custom windows, you'll pay for it down the road. Better to do it right the first time. Better to hire Windows on Washington. I couldn't be happier, and I'll be hiring them to finish the rest of my home next year at tax time! read more

I must say I was extremely impressed with the job Hansons did on my new roof and the way the whole process was handled from start to finish. We met with our sales consultant James he was a very respectable and no nonse type of sales rep. Being in sales myself I understand the nature of the business and he laid it all out there on the line discussing with us our options different packages including additional fees (permit fees, additional wood replacement fees). He didn't try to up sell us and when I asked if I should redo the detached garage in the back he said does it leak? I said no. He said then I wouldn't you can't even see the roof from the street anyways. After inspecting the roof he gave me a little education in roof 101 which he spotted a spot that was not correctly flashed (hence why it was leaking) and he brought to my attention that the roof had been re-shingled a few years ago. After agreeing on a price Tammy the project manager contacted me about scheduling an install. She was extremely pleasant and great to work with and went over my entire order and how the project would unfold. Come Monday morning the dumpster was delivered, Florian and his crew from F and L Roofing were there around 9am and they fought the rain over the next 2 days to finish the job. Florian was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out some possible issues with my roof before they even started. He went over the paperwork with me and we discovered that ridge venting was on my paper work but i needed 750 can venting (which I had originally signed up for). Not a problem we made the correction on the spot. Tammy kept me posted on updates of the job, and when they had to replace half the wood on my roof Tammy gave me the prepaid pricing on the wood even though I elected not to prepay for the wood. That was a savings of $575. Again I have nothing but great things to say about this company and it's employees and would refer any of my family, friends, or neighbors to them. read more

The original estimate by this company was rather steep but with a fairly good discount. The salesman for hanson's was much nicer and low-key in comparison to a high-pressure, obnoxious presentation i'd had by another dealer who literally got into a fight with my husband after a nearly 3 hour spiel. I chose this company with the opinion that the job would likely be performed correctly. At install, the two installers arrived right on time at 8 a.m, inspected the window locations, helped me remove blinds that I couldn't figure out how to take down myself, did some measuring to assure that the window they brought were likely to fit, laid down drop cloths in their work areas, and both quickly got to work. The installers were extremely nice, professional, efficient, tolerant of questions and open to suggestions, and I found them to be an extremely compatible pair. They took great care in the difficult removal of my old windows, which were very firmly nailed and glued into the walls. In placing the window inserts, they did no damage to any of my existing woodwork. In the dining room, which had a slanted brick outer sill, they discovered that the original measurements taken were not quite accurate, as the outside opening was slightly smaller than the inside. I thought we might have a disaster looming, but the installer was able to chisel a slightly larger opening at the top of the window opening, allowing both windows to fit perfectly. He also took great care in leveling the windows and in making sure that they seated properly, with no leaks, and his caulking job was also very neat. Outside, I had new aluminum trim installed around the windows, and this matched my existing trim exactly, also done very nicely and neatly. The job took about 4 hours altogether, and I think that the job done was worth every penny, expensive or not. Kudos to this great pair of installers, and I hope that I can have them out again! read more

First off $4,000 for 3 casement windows, I knew it would be expensive but I didn't mind for quality. Unfortunately I didn't get quality. The screens are held in by ugly screws on the inside. One window was shipped with both window panes cracked (it was replaced in a reasonable time) the one screen was damaged and the installers said it would be replaced (over a month later still waiting). Windows are hard to latch (have to crank as hard as you can to get closed enough). The cranks are hard to crank (my old Anderson windows worked much better). I was told by the salesman I could keep the one casement window that was being replaced as I wanted it for my deer blind (only reason it was replaced was to match the other 2 in the room). I told the installers I wanted it for my deer blind, they then not 2 minutes later took a Sawzall to it and cut the center of the frame and ripped it out in pieces and left the window panes only but no hardware or frames (what good is a double casement window with no frame or hardware). I paid for the "upgraded frame" that is not supposed to be able to flex in anyway, when you crank the window shut you can see the frame flexing and twisting (good thing they used fiberglass insulation around the frame and not the foam like they were supposed to use otherwise I might really get a cold breeze). People do compliment them but I'm unsure if they are just being nice as I was expecting a nicer looking window. I've also had the cranks pop off and I had to reinstall them. On a plus side the windows do seem to seal good and keep out a lot of sound (compared to the old) you don't feel heat coming in thru the glass from the sun but the low e glass does add a tint so your rooms are darker. Overall I probably wouldn't recommend casement windows from Hanson as you can get (in my opinion) a better quality from Anderson that we had previously and they look nicer. read more

Hansons did a great job with our last three old windows. Today we had the remaining windows of our home replaced. The installers Marty and Jeff did a great job and answered all the questions we had with patience and attentiveness. They also took the time to explain the project and adjustments well. They were also not bothered by our children's curiosity and age typical behavior. They were patient with them while staying focused on completing the job. Our remaining old windows had a couple short comings. One had damaged molding from the previous homeowner, they replaced that. The other window was in an area that settle over time, they adjusted the fit so it would have a tight seal and explained everything to us. The other reason we were able to give 5 stars this time rather than 4 for our last review is they used a different Caulk indoors so we don't have that harsh smell to deal with :-) That was my main issue with the last installation. Once again they cleaned up behind themselves (inside and out) like they were never here. We will definitely be using Hanson's for more improvements later this year. We also now have the great transferable lifetime guarantee on ALL of our windows. One of our sales reps Adam stopped by prior to our installers to check the appointment time and show me how to complete the survey. Despite the cold weather they worked fast replacing the old windows, we were able to manage the cold with out needing to wear coats. Our home reheated fairly quick after putting in the new windows, even before they sealed them inside and out. I will suggest Hansons for windows (the only product we have from them) to anyone I know looking to improve climate control and reduce energy cost. The improvement in curb appeal and noise reduction are great as well. Lots of cute dogs in our neighborhood ;-) . read more

Okay. So I had a bad-ish experience last month with Hansons so I wrote my review. Let me tell you, I am no longer an upset customer! So far, Hansons is the only business that has replied to anything that I have posted on Yelp or any other review blog. They called me and said that they were very upset with my experience and wanted to make sure that I was happy and satisfied with what they were supposed to initially do for me! They came the very next day, on time, ready to work. I thought that they were going to come to my house just to tell me that they were sorry and here is a gift for all of your troubles. NO. That was not the case. The manager and an installer came to my house to make sure that everything would be fixed and that I was being well taken care of. They re-caulked everything. Not even just where I had an issue. They re-caulked the whole thing. I also did receive a gift and a personal guarantee that I would be taken care of for any other household needs. So, I got an estimate on my roof with Hansons. I had told them that I was low on cash and I had received a few offers that were lower than what he told me. He said he could promise that he could match or beat their offers (which he matched) and that they also offered financing. They also have a 100% lifetime guarantee on their roofing! I was sold. Then 2 days later (when the manager said I would receive a call) I spoke with the scheduling department to get everything all set up. She was very nice, well spoken and best of all, well mannered! Financing went easily, getting the city permit went smoothly and I can't believe what a difference this experience is like compared to last month. Way to go Hanson's. I will refer you to friends and family and I will even put your sign up in my yard! LOL =) read more

So I talk to the president of Hansons and he said to me that they would fix on my house so the rep came out to my house I had to filled out papers and in the Winter they were going to do my house they delivered the supplies to my house and they been sitting in my driveway since November December and every time they call to schedule an appointment with me they would tell me that they're coming out and then they would not show up and in three days later they will call and tell me that they're not coming out due to bad weather so my concern is Hanson has not been working on any houses since November December January February March and April so they have NOT been out working on any houses to my knowledge due to the weather, that's what I feel because they cancel and cancel reschedule & reschedule and cancel and cancel reschedule reschedule and cancel and reschedule . Now, I don't know if anyone else been having problems with Hanson but this is ridiculous for 6 , six , 6 , six months that the supples have been sitting in my Driveway & Hanson has not called or touched my house so I'm so I feel and think they should knock off pretty much half of the price. What is the hold up Hanson? We been having Beautiful weather in April and nothing.Someone from Hanson called my house and the guy was coming out on the 2nd to work on my house, he calls back and says " Oh I grabbed the wrong file " I'm not working on your house. I called Hanson and they sured me that on the 3-4 that they will be out to work on my house "No Matter what the weather is like , so I took off work for them two days and No Call / No Show ,So that was "A Lie "! Then on the 6 someone called and said no is coming out due to the weather and it was warm and sunny. So they can't work in Rain read more

I am looking to replace the windows in my home and decided to look into Hansons windows for an estimate. Their store isn't far from me so I decided to just stop in. When I arrived I was greeted and was told someone would be right with me. After about 5 minutes of waiting (which was a little frustrating) a gentleman by the name of Deon came down to assist me. He took me through the showroom and showed me a few samples of what they offer. He explained to me that it is best to set up an appointment and have the representative come out to my home to show me everything that way he can see my windows that I currently have and get a proper measure. I agreed. The Appointment - I set my appointment up for 7pm since I work and that would be the best time for me. My representative Joe arrived at about 7:20, which wasn't too bad. Especially considering the office called me to give me a heads up his prior appointment took a little longer and he was on his way. When he showed up I expected a typical high pressure sales representative, however, it was quite the opposite. He came in, shook my hand, said hi to my daughter, asked me what "I" was looking for and not what I should have. On the phone I was told it would take about 45 minutes, but it did run a little longer closer to about an hour and half. He showed me every type of window that would work in my home, colors, my financing options, anything I asked for. By the end of the presentation I was sold. I feel like I purchased a great product and have a great representative that will be there for me throughout this process. Now, just wait for my windows to arrive! read more

First of all let me say it's a hard choice to chose which company is trustworthy to do an entire house of new windows, so the choice should feel good, and I am confident in the choice I have made with Hansons! I have had 3 window companies out! I had Wallside, a smaller window company as well as Hansons! I am a highly educated and intellectual person, so when I had a lot of choices and decisions I made sure to do my research and ask in-depth questions (sorry Joey). Joey was the person who came to my house, he was very professional and patient and even put on little shoe covers to protect my newly renovated house. Of course he may have wanted to protect his does as well, hehe :). He was nice, understanding, and very informative. We went through the house and he got measurements and he explained the windows. My house was built in 1956 so getting new windows is a must and any new window would probably do a decent job, but I know these windows will do an excellent job. I am getting top of the line windows and for a great price. My husband and I are always trying to be efficient in our costs as well as being sustainable to the environment, these windows will do both! Not only did Joey take the time to text and call me back when I had extra questions, but he had the guys come out to take final measurements the same day! Again they were very professional! I told him now that i've said yes, the sooner I get them in the better! Overall, I am highly satisfied, and how could I not be. I have an awesome lifetime guarantee and amazing new windows that will keep my toasty warm during the cold winter! read more

I'm very happy with the service Hanson's provided. I purchased my home in November of 2013 and it has needed some upgrades for a while, siding, roof, windows. I wanted to get them all done at once, so I called the first company that came to mind: Hanson's. I figured, why not get everything done by one company, rather than shopping around - it just makes things easier that way. Everyone was super helpful, from setting up the appointment and contract to the team of professionals that finally showed up to do the work. They actually completed the project much earlier than originally estimated which was a big plus for me. I had used Hanson's in the past to do some work on some investment properties of mine, but never this much at once - so I have to admit i was a bit nervous at first, especially since i'm planning to keep this home! They did a great job, one guy even had dog treats with him and fed the puppy LOL! Overall I'm very happy with the service i received, and they beat most of the quotes i had already gotten - probably because it was one team doing all of the work, instead of several different projects being managed by several different project companies. It's easier for them to eliminate additional costs. I'd definitely recommend using 1-800 Hanson's, especially if you're looking to have several things done at once, in a timely manner, and much more in line with the budget that YOU had in mind. Pricing was fantastic, Excellent phone support, prompt and courteous, even went out of their way to make my dog comfortable, project completed ahead of schedule. A+++ All the way around. read more

The installation of my Hansons windows has recently been completed and I couldn't be more satisfied. The entire process from sales to installation was handled professionally and went easily and smoothly. The sales rep was extremely knowledgeable, giving lots of information and answering all my questions. There was no pressure or hard sell. He gave me time to think about it as I did my research and got quotes from other companies. He quickly answered several calls about concerns I had and even made time to come back to the house to check on some concerns. The employee who came out to measure even handled a particular situation that could have caused a problem with installation so I wouldn't have to fix it myself. The hardest part of the entire process for me was waiting for the windows to be made! But throughout the few weeks of waiting I was contacted with updates and schedule information. Everyone was friendly, professional and easy to deal with. Then came the day of installation. Wow! Two very courteous, respectful young men showed up and with obvious expertise and skill quickly and efficiently removed the old windows and installed the new ones. Even though they had to finish in the rain, Nathan and Dalton maintained a great attitude and seemed to really enjoy the work they were doing. They even cleaned everything up after the job. I was originally very impressed by the description of the product and now that the windows are in I feel the quality and appearance truly are exceptional. I am extremely happy. Thank you to the entire Hanson family. Peggy C. read more

I called Hansons to get our original windows replaced in our 1950's home. All the wood was rotted on them and they were very drafty. Hansons came out to give me an estimate the same day that I called them. The representative gave me an estimate to replace 5 windows and a large picture window which I thought was very reasonable. We also asked him to replace all the sills on the windows as they were in very bad shape as well. A few weeks later our windows were in and they scheduled a crew to install them. The office gave me a call about 45 minutes before the installation time asking if they could install the next day as we had rain. I wasn't too happy that we had to reschedule since I took the day off work to be there but very understandable due to the weather conditions they couldn't install. The next day the guys came to install, they were very courteous and they worked pretty much nonstop until the windows were in. The gentleman from the crew that did the wood work was very methodical and didn't rush at all. He made sure that everything was cut perfectly and installed right. He did such great work that all the other trim around my house looks horrible in comparison. The other gentleman did the outside work which looked great as well. They worked very clean for such a messy job, my house was very clean after they were complete. They took everything with them and I didn't have any material to deal with. I am amazed with the quality of work and window I got for the price. We have 3 more to replace and I am not going to hesitate to call Hansons again. read more

My husband and I wanted to get our house updated with a new roof and siding this year. We received quotes from four different companies in our area. All the quotes were good; some low some high. We then received our quote from Hanson and could not believe the difference in all aspects of what we received. Very knowledgeable sales person with products and service Top notch product with warranties Thorough quote: The quote was dead on to what we needed after the job was done No hidden fees anywhere Each time a job was scheduled; Lori from Hanson's would call to confirm arrival time of the crew and who we should expect. We then would receive a call from Lori the following day to confirm the job was completed and that our expectations of the job were met. Each time the crew that came; they exceeded our expectations. I am the owner of Steiny's Restaurant in Shelby Township and know what Customer Service is; or should be. HANSON'S has exceeded our expectations in so many ways; I personally would like to meet up with Brian Elias to find out 'What is his secret?' Then train my staff the same way at my restaurant. If you are considering any job to your home. I strongly suggest you give Hanson's the opportunity to speak with you. They may not be the cheapest out there but; what they bring to the table is quality. Quality in product and Quality in service. You can't find this kind of quality service out there anymore. My house is beautiful again! Thank you to the entire team at 1-800 HANSONS read more

My experience with Hanson's was spot on. From the Sales agent to the installation everybody was punctual and very professional. Whenever I had to call customer service I was never on hold more than 5 minutes and answered all my questions easily and efficiently I would 100% recommend them to anybody. The sales rep was very friendly and to the point, did his presentation, measured our windows gave us a quote and talked about financing, answered our questions, packed up and gave us some time to talk it over in private, I would say in total he was in our home an hour. This appointment was right before thanksgiving, they told us it could be up to 3 months before they would get all our windows made (given all the holidays I thought this was pretty reasonable) We got a phone call middle of January that our windows were in and had them installed the first weekend of February. The only odd thing is the day of install I got a phone call to say the crew would be at our house at 9:30 ( I got the phone call at 9:28) and the crew was already in the driveway. This is not a complaint as I am glad they came early. I figure the earlier they came the sooner they would be done. It was really cold that day, I think a high of 20, but that did not slow them down. I never once saw them messing around on cell phones, or slacking off. We had 15 windows and a window to door wall conversion installed and completed in 1 day when originally they said it would be a two day install. We are very happy customers :) read more

If I could give my windows installation crew, Donnie Duke and Jenn and Matt, a score of 10 out of 5, I would...they were 200% amazing. To upgrade to a more energy efficient window takes a bit of a leap of faith; that your personal experience is going to be a positive one, that the window being installed is the quality it was touted to be, that the installation is going to be done properly so that all the seals are nice and tight and complete. With Donnie and his crew, I had no doubts. They were on-time. They were organized. They didn't look like they stayed out all night and partied (I've had a contractor like that before...ew.) Not these guys! They really worked efficiently, they were mature-yet-fun, they communicated well with me and each other and left my property and house meticulously clean. Watching them work, I could tell that they were focused and skilled. When someone is tearing out an 'ok' window from your house, it can be a very unnerving experience. These guys gave me every confidence that I was getting what I had paid for and that they were taking the care to do it with excellence. They gave my house the same attention they would their own, if not better. They also noted to me that an item my sales person had protected for in the original quote did not end up being necessary, so a price mark down was going to be credited to me. That was great news - it also required true integrity and honesty for that to happen. Thank God for Donnie, Jenn and Matt! :) read more

The quality of the work was excellent. It was by far the best company we've ever worked with in terms of quality. Hansons takes out current windows and door walls and replaces them with new. The craftsmanship of the work done in terms of removing the old, putting in the new, making it fit and looking like it was originally built with the house was excellent. They just melted the new product with the existing structure so well. It was the clean up that they did and the metal work on the outside. They had to put new trim on the outside and the metal work was bent all by hand. It was just absolute perfect. The large picture windows had some water leakage and what they did to ensure that there would be no future leakage was just absolutely superb. Where they installed the windows there was opening in the walls with rotted wood and they replaced the wood. They put down a new waterproof membrane and anything directly related to the window to make sure that it was completely weatherproof and to stop any environmental damage seeping into the house. They did an excellent job. We ordered the standard windows, so in order to make them fit and make them look built in the trim work that they did around the door walls and the windows was absolutely superb. You could not tell that the glass was just two inches smaller on all sides compared to the glass that they took out. I would definitely recommend these people in a heartbeat. read more

We ordered windows for our home in August of 2014, only to learn on the day of installation in October, that our windows were measured incorrectly and would have to be reorder. Our reorder went to the bottom of the stack and we waited another 8 weeks for an installation day. Now Mid - December, on the day of installation, WE ARE TOLD THE WINDOWS WERE NOT MEASURED CORRECTLY - AGAIN!!! "We'll just need to reorder". NOT A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!! Please note that are home is relatively small (7 windows) - nothing fancy, windows are not unique sizes. Extremely disappointed and we will pursue legal action to get out of this contract should we need to. Prior to knowing we would have such a terrible experience with Hanson's, I had referred a family member. She too has had nothing but horrific experiences with them, including damage to her interior walls, (at time of install), wood molding damage, windows installed with ripped screens, broken window frame. The list goes on an on. Please don't use this company. Save yourself the headache and TIME. Hanson's seems to think that others are sitting home waiting for their arrival so they can fix the mistakes they continue to make. Here's a thought - do your job right the first time! As another person said - please scroll to the bottom of Yelp and read the reviews that are not recommended.... I have posted others and they seem to disappear. read more
