Good: Came out on time to give us an initial estimate for siding for an old farmhouse. Ed was fantastic and talked us through the process, clearly showed us his measurements and how many squares we'd need. Gave us a high quote but "finagled" his way down but it was still too high for me. Did not hard sell us. We said we'd think about it and call them in a few days. Good: Justin called a few days later from Hansons and said that they wanted to expand in our area and because we are on a busy street they will get high visibility and essentially say marketing dollars. Said he had the okay to give us a price that was "just above cost" because it'll be an investment. Good: Justin came back out, remeasured to ensure the number of squares Ed had measured were correct. He was on time and easy to deal with...he gave us a revised quote that was very reasonable and we signed the deal. This was only 4 days after Ed's visit. Very cool! Justin told me another Hansons guy would come out to measure one last time to be sure. I was very impressed that they had such attention to detail. They put a sign in my yard and began reaping the benefits of the busiest street in Berrien County with their sign out front. BAD: Justin forgot to get my signature on something, so he had to come back out and get it signed. No biggie. It was a few days later so things weren't moving as fast as I had hoped. The measurement guy did come out the day after that. BAD: No word from Hansons for two weeks. Left a message. No reply. Just wanted to know when they planned on starting. BAD: Get a call from Hansons. Call them back the next day, figure they have a question about the credit application. THEY INFORMED ME THEY CAN NO LONGER PERFORM THE JOB FOR THE PRICE THAT THEY QUOTED. What???? They gave me a quote. They begged me to come out again and offer me another price. They offered me that price with NO HAGGLING on my part. I didn't talk them into a price they didn't like. THEY SAID "IT'S NOT PROFITABLE ENOUGH FOR US. WE WON'T DO THE JOB." They were able to try and offer me a price $10k higher though, that would be better for them to make money off of me. BAIT AND SWITCH!!!! Justin (and another Hansons guy) had said they were willing to do it "FOR COST" for the exposure. A week later, while still fuming about this poor business practice, my wife called. THEY SAID: "THE SIDING WASN'T MEASURED PROPERLY THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT PROFITABLE." No one said that to me the previous week. HANSONS MEASURED THREE TIMES...coming up with the same number each time. THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE MEASURED. The lies are amazing. They wasted 6 weeks of my life on this and I essentially gave away free advertising with their sign in my yard. Can't believe all the reviews for sales presentation lasting 3 hours - I told the sales guy, i don't know about windows just give me the highlights and he obliged - measurements, presentation, time to think and sign the contract all within an hour - will keep posted on how the installation goes ... HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT USE THEM!! We have had several issues with 1-800-HANSONS. From our windows looking like a 3rd grader installed them to the installers cracking walls, broken moldings, broken siding and missing pieces. They also ripped off the outside window sills and wrapped the "Air" because they didn't want to replace them. I had to have another installer come out to fix their work. They also left nails in my driveway which cost me two tires, garbage everywhere and a huge mess in our house. I recently had it rain in my house. The window is leaking and water ran down my window on my sills, down my wall and all over my furniture. I called and submitted the warranty paper work and I still haven't heard back. I paid for Hansons, and Hansons sent me "Chuck & a Truck". The work that these contractors did was ok. The damage these degenerates caused is totally unacceptable! The crew Hansons sent to my house destroyed several window screens, drove over and destroyed my lawn sprinkler heads, they busted out one my skylights, and they cracked a very expensive custom window. I contracted with Hanson's for a new living room window in August. After months of waiting, the installation was scheduled for Nov 10. They called the day of the planned installation to inform me they had to cancel. It was rescheduled for Nov 21. The morning of Nov 21 they called and said they had to cancel again. I have a garden window that they installed a couple years ago and is under warranty. The seal is broken and needs to be replaced. The parts have been on order for about five months. I used Hansons to replace the siding on my house. I would love to tell the whole story, but it's long and still gets me mad. So, long story short, the company you hire is not who comes out to do the work. Hansons hires local subcontractors and they are NOT good. The siding guy was rude, unprofessional, didn't read the contract, was only concerned with getting done fast and not getting it done right, damaged my property, damaged my gutter system, and argued about everything so he could get out of doing the work I hired the company to do. He refused to remove the gutters even though it's in my contract that they will be removed so the old soffit and fascia can be removed before installing the old. He just put the new over the old and wrapped around the gutter. NOT OK. I had to make many complaints to Hansons and they finally set a "gutter guy." Just one. Just one person to removed long, over 50 feet pieces. He damaged them all in the removal. He then installed them wrong upon putting them back up. The siding guy damaged the down spouts up reinstalling them buy throwing away the brackets they are secured with and instead drilling a 4 inch wood screw from the front of the spout to the side of the house. Now there are screws through the middle of my down spouts and then open holes where the brackets were once attached. They are only a year old too. I'm now paying $2000 to the company that installed them originally to replace, fix, and reinstall. I still have things that are not done right with the siding, but no one has come to fix them. In addition, I had brand new windows put on the entire house just prior to the siding install. I'm finding large caulk smears on the outside of the second story windows that the siding guy got my new windows. I can't reach those to remove that! And that's not even all the stuff that went wrong. If you hire this company, expect to act as a general contractor. Hanson's does not manage the person that shows up at your house to do the work. And the person that shows up to do the work is most likely NOT someone you would have hired to work on your house if you had them come to your house and give you bid. Hanson's installed three windows this passed weekend. The installation went well. Start to finish was about 3 hours. The workmanship is ok, some of the interior trim could be a little better, but it's not that bad either. The reason we went with Hanson's is mainly because of the rep, Brody. Brody was nicely dressed, courteous, and friendly. We had several quotes that were out of site. Most of the other reps looked like they had just got off work and their dress reflected it and none had business cards to hand out. Brody gave us a price that was reasonable. The price started out high, but they had a special going on and the price dropped quite a bet. Brody gave us several options to help fit the windows in our budget. As the evening went on, the price did not include, full screens, tempering and the sales tax. Brody contacted someone at Hanson's and they waived the cost of these three items. I had not looked at any reviews before buying the windows. In fact tonight is first time I've read anything about Hanson's, a little surprised at all the negative experiences. I would not recommend Hanson's to anyone!!! Their customer service was terrible from the start. The 1st sales guy was less than professional with his language and conversation topics. He gave us a quote, we wanted to think about it over night. We called the next day to set it up with no return call, many phone attempts later-it's now 4 weeks into it. We called the manager who eventually did get us in touch with another sales man who said the price we were given he couldn't not honor. Tried to get the warranty transfer for the windows that were installed 9 years ago . We are the 3rd owners of the house . The previous owner had no idea that there was a warranty transfer. I purchased a house in 2006 which had and Hanson windows installed and 1994. The lifetime warrantee did not transfer because another owner owned the home before I did. I have been renting out my house and is a rental property since 2009 when I had to move. I have had issues with these windows since 2006. Some of the windows didn't slide very well and I had to crank very hard to lock them shut. Recently had an inspection which revealed all 10 windows in my house needing to be resealed! I called Hansons and they told me they would not sent anyone out to look at the windows without a payment up front. They said this is a very expensive repair. I was also very disappointed as they were not willing to stand by the product as they were given a lifetime warrantee and see if there is anything they could do to help. Unfortunately my friend recently had windows installed by Hansons and had a very bad experience as well. We got 17 windows total for our house. I have extended family that lives an hour away who got 4 windows, and we got better windows and we paid less for 17 than they paid for 4. The worst part was waiting for the windows to be manufactured. I called Hansons to check on the status and not only did they give me a status, on that same call they scheduled the install. After being four month late to start the workers showed up and left whenever they wanted. My yard is still full of nails and trash they never cleaned up. Had new windows installed last month, and have had nothing but problems with the front bay window. First the installers stained my siding, then discolored it by trying to clean it. Company said they couldn't repair it but they would take money off my financing, I said ok. Another window installer came out today for another job and said the install job on the bay window was very poor. He said the window looked too big for the opening, and tried to caulk it to make it look better, and there is holes in the caulk which will leak and rot the window frame out over time. I was trying to be cool with all these issues, but I'm tired of trying to compromise with a company that obviously doesn't show pride in their work. read more

I'm compelled to write this review as a result of my last run-in with a Hansons' salesman. I only got the price I did for the siding I had installed because I agreed to promote Hansons on the web. The price for siding was a little higher than I anticipated, but not tremendously unaffordable. I've had more than just siding installed, however -- Hansons has nearly rebuilt my home by installing gutters, a roof, all windows and now the siding. In all previous cases, I was completely satisfied with the work done. The only issue came with this latest job for installing the siding. The installers were of course subcontracted to put up the siding and estimated they'd be done within the week. They started on Monday and finished on Friday, which was great. All was well until Tuesday evening when the cable stopped working in my bedroom. The cord had been run as a retrofit install some years ago over the old siding, and the installers were siding over that. Apparently a nail had punctured the cord and I was without TV in the bedroom. I immediately called the Hansons Project Manager and left a message, then heard from her the next day. I was assured it would be taken care of. The crew removed the nail from the cord (they knew exactly where the problem was, obviously weren't going to mention it unless something was wrong), however that did not fix the problem. The PM then failed to mention to the siding installers that the cable was still a problem, so they covered the wires back up. Better communication would have gone a long way to making this a smoother install. The crew had to return after leaving on Thursday to reopen the trim and expose the damaged cable. For once, Comcast is not the bad guy in a story! They came out on Thursday evening to fix the cable. They attempted to patch the cord, but that didn't work. The cable guy had to run a whole new wire around to the bedroom, and drilled into the siding to do it, running the cable on the OUTSIDE of the siding. I cringed, but Hansons assured me that all would be taken care of. When I talked to the siding installer, he acted as though running the cord on the outside of the siding was the way it was going to have to be now - no fixing and re-covering it. I told him that Hansons assured me it was going to look right, because that's what I paid for. After that conversation, he must have spoken with the Hansons PM and gotten everything straight. When I got home on Friday to sign off on the install, the wire was covered by siding. There is still a 3-4" section of cable exposed at the corner, but I didn't make a fuss about it. I'll probably just paint it white. Not all was bad, however. They did work with me on the siding material above the garage. I wanted the same siding material above the garage door as was on the rest of the house, but they at first put up the soffit material, as is apparently the trend in the neighborhood. I didn't like the look, and they changed it no problem. Also, the siding installation in general looks really good and transformed the look of my house like none of the work before it. TL;DR: Overall, my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. There were a couple of issues/inconveniences with the siding, but considering all the work they've done to my house, I would have no problem recommending them. When considering contractors, always get competition, but don't go with the low price "just because". Consider the value added with quality of work and lifetime guarantees. I spoke with M. Carbary who set up a 7:30 virtual appointment for me Monday night. He indicated that someone would call prior to coming out to measure windows within 24 hours of appointment. No one ever called, no email with a zoom invite was sent. 7:45 rolls around (15 minutes after scheduled appointment), no call no email regarding zoom appointment received, so I sent an email to M. Carbary inquiring about my virtual appointment. He said his rep was running a bit late, but I was still scheduled for an appointment that night and E Richards would be calling me shortly.... I never received a call from anyone. Inquired again with M. Carbary about my experience and never received a response back....after reading all of these reviews, I guess I didn't miss much! read more

Hansons contracts out their jobs to roofers, but they do not mention that when you're signing the contracts. We found that out when the roofers came and did a sloppy job. Not only did they leave a ton of debris, because instead of coming a third day they were determined to finish in the dark. I had to have them come back to clean up their mess. The roof did NOT pass code, because it looked as though a shingle was already loose. The roofers came back out and said it was just an extra shingle. However, I just noticed that they never removed it! I would have done better and spent less had I gone with a smaller company. read more

After so many negative reviews I was hesitant to go with Hansons but after further research and went with them anyway. We have had our windows installed for almost a month now and are very happy. We had a small issue where the Sales Representative had to come back out and fill out a new form but other than that it was a very good experience. They always kept us well informed and when Adriano came out to complete the new form, he worked around our schedule and made it convenient for us. They called to set up our install and the earliest date was only a week out! Once the install crew showed up they were very professional and polite. Joe Marino and his partner were very efficient and had no problem taking time out whenever I had a question. With the initial process being a pleasant experience I hope that over time the warranty holds up and customer service doesn't decline in the future. read more

It needs taken off done correctly in order to put on a screen door... Last spring/ summer Hansons did our siding. OMG a nightmare...I hate the thot of dealing with those clowns again.... Wish I would have read all the reviews before we called for a quote on a roof! Wow, this company is full of jerks starting at making the appointment! We had to reschedule because they wanted to come out at 7:30pm Megan didn't want us to reschedule because it was too difficult so she tried to bribe us with a gift card. Finally she allowed us to change our appointment. Our salesman was great until the end when he started to play hardball. Making phone calls and having fake arguments in order to lower our price. What a total game! The price went from about $23,000 down to $13,000 but we had to sign that day! BS! Then he tried to make us feel guilty for not wanting a "quality" aka expensive roof based on another estimate we had for $7400. Keep your business local and hire from a local company, you'll get a better price and I'm sure better service and workmanship than you would from hansons! I have had my windows for less than 1 year and this is the second time that the door lock has stopped working. I have tried reaching out to them multiple times. I had to end up contacting the corporate office to put my service request in. Lisa Kuck sent me an email saying that I should hear from Stephanie Kern within 24hrs, it's been over 24 hours and I still haven't heard from anyone. I regret using them and this has been a bad customer service experience for me. I will never use them or recommend them to anyone again. 4 years ago when we purchased our home we had all new windows and a doorwall put in by Hanson's. We left 3 windows because the sellers told us they were newly installed by Pella. As we learned by living in the home this was an untrue statement. We contacted Hanson's regarding updating the final 3 windows. Hanson's did an awesome job for us. I expected a lot more from a company that's a household name. I encountered error after error all on the end of the company. I was rescheduled on multiple times for my estimate appointment, they wrongly scheduled my measurement appointment and then expected me to accept the new appointment that I didn't agree to (and which I would have had to take work off to keep), and left a mess in my home on the day of install. On a good note all my polite phone calls expressing my dissatisfaction with the customer service I received did conclude with $650 dollars off my windows, a subscription to an online discount/coupon site and tickets to the renaissance festival. Was this worth the hassle? Probably not but the windows look nice and I saved a good amount off the total. read more

Hansens make such a big deal about living up to their contract in their presentation and sales pitch to the point where they make you sign and initial next to every single term including a term that says if it's not written in the contract it's not valid however they then proceed to put in agreement on paper that the installation will happen within 6 to 12 weeks at 12 weeks they called to tell us that they're behind schedule and it's going to be another 2 to 3 weeks in another 2 to 3 weeks they called again and said they're still behind schedule after several more attempt to get an installation date scheduled we had doubts that hansons would ever come out to install our siding. After Contacting the Management of Hanson's however to discuss our poor experiance Hansons did offer to provide us with a signifigant discount for the inconvenience however since we had a newborn baby in the home we were no longer wishing to have siding on our home until the baby is old enough to not need naps in the middle of the day. The management was quick to apologize for the poor customer service and not only cancelled the work order and provided us with a full refund but also sent us an additional check to partially pay for the repair of our siding. They also extended an offer to get a discount on the siding in the spring if we decide to have the siding done then. While we can say we were not happy with the customer experience and never did get our siding installed. We are happy that Hansons was able to address all of our concerns and we will consider trying them again next time we need siding. read more

He walked into our home and turned his nose up right away as we are in the middle of a move and there are boxes and items around the house. I told him exactly what I was looking for and he asked me 3 different ways/times if my husband was available. I explained I am more then capable of making decisions and did not need my husband's permission. He then proceeded to ask me personal questions and continued to insult me. After I cut him short as I didn't need a 3 hour presentation (nor did I care to hear him bash every other company) and was attempting to work from home, he got even more agitated. When he finally gave me a quote and I told him I needed to think about it he again told me to call my husband. He also kept trying to give me "incentives" to sign up that day as I would "never get such a good deal again; and it would be difficult to get someone scheduled to come out again". I politely declined again and he stormed out of my house like a child. He left zero contact information. I called Hanson's and asked for a callback and never received one. I have inquired online as well. It is an absolute shame that a company like Hanson's doesn't value customer service. read more

We wanted to add a garden window to our kitchen. Hanson sent out a salesman and his first line was, "Wheres your wife?". I said, "What does that matter, I'd just like a price on a window, your not making a sale, just giving me a quote. After a few minutes of neither of us being pleased where the conversation was going, I showed him the door. Well, I gave them another chance, a different salesman came out & after a 2+ hour presentation, I finally got a high price. Asked for a bit of a break on the price, they gave it to us & we bought a window. Through this pricing, I repeatedly asked, "What are the dimensions of the window?". He couldn't give that to me. The guy came out to measure for the window. I asked him, "What will be the dimensions of this window, he was able to give me a depth estimate. On the day of installation, I said to the job manager, "My main concern is that no one has been able to give me a dimension for our $3000 window". Well, the window came, they installed it. SHIMMING IT WITH 2X4's & ADDITIONAL WOOD!!!! Ok, call the job manager, then another person, then Marv, the vice president of Hansons called giving me two choices, take $300 off or were putting a lien on your home, AGAIN WOW!!!! I at that point called Brian Elias, he was pleasant, respectful, apologized for Marv & called him a jerk, and gave us another $100 off. But never once offered to replace the miss-measured window, just throw money at the problem. Never will I recommend Hansons. read more

When I called to cancel because this is not the way I want a company I might pay to behave, she was snotty and rude.
