First order: Great quality food. I was a little disappointed in the shrimp to veggie ratio in my "shrimp and vegetables lunch combo" lots of veggies , only 4 shrimp! I assume the dinner portions are larger. I've also gotten the pu pu platter from here. Chicken wings and teriyaki steak are A+ and portion size was as expected. 2nd Order: Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. I keep going back because it's probably better then the other hole in the wall msg laden greasy "Chinese" Resturant's, but I really don't think the management cares one but about customer Satisfaction. For example, my to go order of hot and sour soup with added wontons had non. The general Tao chicken was all clumped into a few pieces in the fryer and came out with some raw parts, so bad I had to toss it. The fried rice was bland and so little stuff (pork, egg, onion) in it it was a joke. On top of that the order was way late, and the cashier who must be ownership was anything but friendly. Price on lunch specials has increased from 7.95 to 9.95. That is a huge increase. I got a dinner special which is 2.5 more. Pork Egg Foo young. For 13.33 I got 2 patties, a smallish egg roll, and a small amount of pork fried rice. It taste fine, but was way over priced. Cool place. Nice big dark bar with huge TVs. Good fast bar service. I had a draught beer that wasn't really cold enough but the bottles were ice cold. I got takeout from Hanto tonight and unfortunately, I didn't love it. The egg rolls were totally soggy ( zero crisp) and the crab Rangoon were not that great ( they were kind of thick and heavy, and a tad soggy. I like crab Rangoon to be light and crispy). I wish I could give this place a zero... I used to love this place, its really the only sushi takeout place in the area and they made good sushi. Tonight changed all of my opinions of them and I will never go there again. First, the online ordering system. It took 30 minutes for my order to even be processed but I let that slide. I went to pick up my order and they couldn't find my order at first and no worker seemed to care and just stared at me. When I finally got my order and went home I noticed then forgot one of my sushi rolls!!! And the sushi roll I got was so bad, $14 for a roll that was basically just avocado with barely any fish. The drinks are good, the staff is pleasant, and yes "I" am a bit of a snowflake when it comes to eating out. So ... I think you might want to adjust your attitude for Asian food. (Since my guess is ... most of you 1,2 & 3 starers) have never really had anything other than La Choy from the grocery store. The Ashland location DOES seem a bit more of a "sports like bar". Big open space with an emphasis on playing Keno (another thing about you east coast people I can't seem to wrap my head around). The food is super good, I usually order the chicken and broccoli stir fry and sometimes there's limited chicken included and way more broccoli, but it's not too big a deal. I had given a 2 star review to the previous restaurant at this location, Ichiban, due to some very lackluster sushi. When I heard the place had changed hands, I thought I would give it another shot. I was the first through the door for lunch, and by noon the place was 2/3 full on a Thursday. Always a good sign. The place was clean and had a nice, modern vibe. I ordered a combo from the Chinese portion of the menu which had lo mein, chicken wings, fried shrimp and rangoons. Everything was piping hot, well seasoned and not too greasy. From the sushi side of things I ordered salmon nigiri and a specialty roll. The salmon was glistening, well cut and had nice fat lines. The roll had tuna, eel, roe and a couple of other things. It all tasted nice and fresh. Service was efficient. I'm stoked to have a place like this 2 minutes from work and plan to return again soon! read more

After the talented staff left a few months ago this place is not worth going to any longer. All that's left is now mainly a drinking and music venue. Lots of drinking and loud local bands rattling the windows. A month ago I got a to-go order after a long trip and threw it out uneaten. Tried it again, big mistake. A young man was bar tending in a shabby sturgis bike rally t-shirt and cap while constantly texting. Keep in mind this is a restaurant but felt like a dive bar. I asked for a zombie not sweet but it came loaded with sweet grenadine, he was pleased to tell me it stands for the "blood" in a zombie. Really!?!! I had half and asked him to try again but no grenadine so he loads it up with peach schnapps instead. Really!?!! again. Just like something their younger clientele would slam down during band night. My combo plate was ready finally after 30 minutes (!!!). Getting home I found the order incomplete and even worse the food was totally greased out. Fried rice shiny with oil, chicken wings soaked thru with cooking oil and their spring roll was like an oil soaked sponge. Went in last night with my service dog after I had already called and told them I was bringing one. After being in the bar for a half hour I went to the bathroom and left for a smoke. Apon reentering the restaurant an employee made a scene and starting yelling at me to leave. When I mentioned the phone call and being there he said LEAVE!! I told him my drink I took a sip from was on the house. He said no you pay for that. Then talked to the owner who allowed me to stay. 5 mins later that employee who yelled at me talks shit to other coworkers and our service suffered from that. My service dog is a 5 pound Jack Russel. Who never left my jacket all night. Everyone in the bar loved Ralph and you could only see his head. As we were leaving the employee said no more dog! Got some take out Gen Gau's and brown rice. Pretty simple straight forward Chinese food right? It was awful. The rice was over cooked, hard and dry and literally had burn marks on it. The chicken was disgusting, soaked in sauce in the container so it was already soggy to begin with, after trying a piece and feeling that slimy undercooked chicken in my mouth I spit it out, cut open 3 more pieces and all were slimy and wet inside and way undercooked. I live right down the road from Hanto and I eat here on a monthly basis. It's always really good, I've never had a bad experience and have tried many different menu items. I love sushi and often order the Maki Combo. For $20 you get three maki rolls, a side salad and soup, which is a good value. I appreciate having a place to see live local music. Bobby, Julie, and the rest of the gang behind the bar do a great job of making you feel at home and welcomed every visit. There's also no better place to watch a sports game in Ashland. The delivery was cold and so was the take out and I live within walking distance to the place. Plus the $20 delivery minimum is a bit high for a senior citizen. I prefer to drive to the Marlborough Super Buffet on Rte 20 next to Target and Staples. Well worth the ride for the buffet. Great price and excellent food. I'm a fan of Hanto's. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, mild, and it came with lots of tender, succulent chicken in a great sauce. More than once, it literally seemed to melt in my mouth. Is that even supposed to happen with chicken? The sauce was perfect!!. --not too spicy and there were no red chili peppers, so they listened when I said "mild." I thoroughly enjoyed it. I frequently order from Hantos and have been going here for years. I recall a small number of issues over all this time and so I can highly recommend them. They have consistently great food. I go to the store 15 minutes later as they told me it would be done and the doors are locked which I didn't expect so I pulled on them not knowing they would be locked. Went on Nov 30th , a Sunday. They open at noon. I was waiting for them to open. They show up at noon and nothing is ready or cleaned up. I asked if iI can put in an order for delivery. Delicious! This restaurant used to be Ichiban but new owner's bought it. They totally changed the decor, opened up the restaurant space and it's no longer dark inside! They also added large TV's and a ton of bar space. It seems very modern and has good energy. Had dinner with a friend yesterday and it was fantastic. We ordered spicy chicken wings, seared yellowtail maki (Must try). steak teriyaki and pineapple fried rice. I took the leftovers home to my husband and they were gone within 20 minutes. Ashland doesn't have that many good places to eat so this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

Absolute garbage. I used to like Ichiban, it wasn't the best, but it satisfied. The remodel is ok, the bar is better and it is more open, but they took away the room where the table is floor level and your legs go underneath, which was very unique and a huge asset I believed. I got some takeout the other day, Crab Rangoon (horrible bland taste), hot and sour soup (once again bland and actually made me sick), beef on a stick (weirdest taste of beef I have experienced), and twice cooked pork ( I personally thought the pork was inedible, texture was odd and very chewy and fat). Very sad to see Ichiban leave and this Hanto place I will never eat at again. read more
