I go to the store 15 minutes later as they told me it would be done and the doors are locked which I didn't expect so I pulled on them not knowing they would be locked. Absolute garbage. I used to like Ichiban, it wasn't the best, but it satisfied. The remodel is ok, the bar is better and it is more open, but they took away the room where the table is floor level and your legs go underneath, which was very unique and a huge asset I believed. I got some takeout the other day, Crab Rangoon (horrible bland taste), hot and sour soup (once again bland and actually made me sick), beef on a stick (weirdest taste of beef I have experienced), and twice cooked pork ( I personally thought the pork was inedible, texture was odd and very chewy and fat). I came here to get drinks with my friend. The atmosphere was a bit weird, with sparse decor and heavy wood tones. We walked up to the counter and we were greeted with the phrase "absolutely not." We asked for drinks and presented our IDs, both of which were perfectly valid. My friend was turned away for having an out of state driver's license in spite of him having multiple forms of identification with his name on it. There was a pickle juice dispenser on tap, interestingly. I have no desire to go back. They should ensure their bartenders are fully trained. read more

Best egg rolls I've ever had. Honestly. But we had the sweet/sour chicken and sesame chicken dinners. There was a lot of fat on the chicken. Tasted very olive oily. The place itself is clean and looks great. Really nicely done comparing it to most Asian restaurants in the area. Service was good as well. The food however was not that great, we had the ceviche and tuna tartare as apps. The ceviche was really good but very hot. I loved it but I consider my tastebuds an anomaly, it was too much for my wife. The tuna tartare, which is one of my favorite dishes was drowning in dressing. Absolutely disgusting. The first time ever I did not finish a tuna tartare dish. The sesame chicken was overcooked as well, very crunchy and dry. Sushi was good. The kids menu is a bit odd, it was explained as just chicken breast (or beef) and some veggies. Starting at $9, so you'd have to order rice to make it a meal. Went to dinner a second time. Good, but not as good as the first time. Service was somewhat improved, but not up to par. Stopped for lunch one day. The maki bento box was excellent - two rolls of six pieces each, a couple gyoza, miso soup, salad with orange dressing. A very good value, too. The service was just not great. It took over an hour, and I was by myself. I finally gave up on getting the check... I couldn't even find my guy to ask him. So I walked up to the reception desk and asked. So the food ranges from good to very good. The service ranges from poor to passable. I'm encouraged by the first and still hoping that they can fix the second. read more

I've been to Hanto before and had a good time at karaoke night with some friends. I will note that that night I did notice poor organizational skills & miscommunication amongst staff. However upon my second time there, I started my evening by ordering a single beer, as my party was paying separately. I normally am a gracious tipper, at least 20%, but the tip would've been less than a dollar for a $4.50 drink so I didn't feel the need to tip this time. My party and I had all paid for our drinks & were given our cards back. I was rudely surprised by the employee (I don't know his actual position at the restaurant/bar) who came back and passively aggressively demanded a tip by pointing at the gratuity section of the bill. Caught off guard, I grabbed the last 2 dollars in my wallet & have them to the man (that's nearly a 50% tip). He took the money and walked away, leaving me there shocked & angered at what had just happened. My friends were just as surprised as I was that he would do such a thing. It's a real shame, I had really enjoyed my first experience at Hanto, but after my second experience I can safely say I won't spend another cent there. This place has potential but the service was terrible. We sat at the bar and couldn't get the bar tenders attention to save our lives. The bar tender wasn't even tending the bar, she was MIA almost the whole time. Not to mention this was before dinner and almost no one was there. We wanted to order food but gave up. There was trash left over from the last patrons that sat on the count the whole time. The bar tender didn't acknowledge it once...even though we kept pushing it closer for her to take. Fourth time here now, absolutely the best food anywhere in the Metrowest area. Make the ride from Medway and it's well worth it. Food is always fresh, hot and top quality. Staff always pleasant and very attentive. Well another visit and we were disapointed this time, I have a feeling new owners...again?? American girl behind the counter, not friendly at all, no greeting when we walked in, no smile...dont think she wanted to be there. The bar was busy and very loud so we sat in the back room. The food this time was very salty, the egg foo young gravy was oversalted and unedible, general gaus chicken was very small portion, crispy but the sauce was very thick. This place is brutally bad. I went there at about 5pm and ordered one of their standard take out meals to go. I was told " 10 minutes" after 30 minutes of watching people come and go I asked for a status and though I had paid up front, they had no record of my order and said sorry, we'll get it right for you. 20 minutes later still no food and others sitting in the small waiting area were equally angry. Finally after roughly an hour wait I got my food which I had to ask for for a third time and they likely just took off somebodies pupu platter. I live in the area and was excited about having Chinese take-out so close to home. I order pork fried rice and Gen. Tao's chicken. The fried rice was OK, but the chicken was nothing but clumps of batter. After eating a couple of pieces and not tasting any chicken, I started to cut the pieces open. NO CHICKEN. Good locarion, nice ambience. The food is nothing out of ordinary, but tastewise I lke it when the food is not gone dry, and retains the moisture, unlike some other places where i have found the chicken almost tasting like straw. The hot and sour soup tastes good, not too much sour and the right tinge of the umami taste. The price is OK, not as high as Sichuan place in framingham, nor as low as Zheng Garden. Might make occassional visits here, the ambience is better than Sichuan where its almost always crowded and loud. read more

We order delivery from Hanto quite often and usually do not have an issue. However, tonite we got our food around 7pm and received a call at 9:45pm asking for our credit card information again, saying they messed up and only charged us a portion of what the total was. She asked me to verify the card over the phone and I told her I would call tomorrow to settle it. She called TWO more times in the next five minutes. The last time we picked up and she said she found my card information and charged the balance. Being that I didn't sign for that second charge, this is unacceptable and it's very unlikely we will order from Hanto again. I recommend paying cash if you eat from here. Very shady. read more

I wasn't much of a sushi person until I tried it here. They help me navigate through the menu because I was pretty new at Sushi. This was our first time at this restaurant and we ordered take-out this Friday. We live about three minutes from here. The food was just warm. We ordered two entrees and an order of spring roles and a egg roles. I asked the cashier if there was sauce enough for the two orders and she said yes. Well we received one little container of sauce. To make matters worse the food had no flavor, fried rice (dry and tasteless) the Lo Mein was (under cooked and Luke-warm and no taste) Needless to say we will never order from there again. read more

The food is very bad and the service is even worse. The cashier was very rude and had a bad attitude the entire time. It was a horrible experience from the very beginning. We ordered a decent amount of food and all of it was horrible. Especially the Hanto Fried Chicken. Not only were the portions incredibly small, the price was astronomically high. They might as well have robbed us right then and there. The chicken was also incredibly dry and disgusting, almost as if they had been microwaved. The rest of the food was equally horrible. Walked into Hanto tonight looking to enjoy some sushi. The new large bar was pretty busy and they only had i bartender/server. After sevaral minutes the bartender gave my wife and I menus. We waited for him to come back but he was so busy we decided to leave. I would have like to try the sushi as the chefs looked like they knew what they were doing. Sushi is really good here, dont drown it in soy sauce or wasabi until youve tried it as served and youll really be able to notice how good it tastes. Hanto roll, Ashland roll, Pink Floyd and the spicy scallop roll are some of my fan favorites. Scallion pancakes are always a treat and the spicy edamame is usually good although its spicier sometimes than others (I prefer spicy). Beef with mushrooms is good, just the right about of sauce and not salty like some other places. Fried rice is delicious, just the right amount of veggies in the mix and cooked just right. Does get very busy, last weekend we had a table at the bar with 4 of us and they had maybe 4 people working at the bar area with 40+ customers in the bar area so the service was a little slower but I will still be finding myself coming back for more! read more

So we did take out and they messed up and they forgot a maki. We obviously did not know this until we got home. This was the 2nd time they did this in as many times (we have been going to this site for several years - they have our phone # in their system). So we called. Instead of saying sorry they told me to take a picture and send it to them. We had already started taking the rolls out -hungry teenagers- so when we sent the photo all that was left was a couple rolls. They called us back and said no all the rolls were there. I said we ordered 9 rolls, the receipt said 9 but there were 8 rolls - they had forgotten the Pink Floyd Maki. He then proceeded to say, basically that I was lying and that he could see in the photo spicy mayo on the side of the container - not sure what that means but he kept repeating himself until after a few minutes of saying no you are wrong, I said forget it you've worn me out. This is last straw - learn restaurant management - it's cheaper to suck up a 12$ roll then to lose a customer of many years. read more
