They have many choices and styles of sushi to choose from but, I tried the cherry blossom roll last time I went and I think that is my favorite. Shrimp tempura (2) with sweet potato and broccoli tempura. Had a craving for chicken teriyaki and got something that's Chinese stir fry. The gyozas are not Japanese at all...more like Chinese potstickers. They lack the delicate gyoza wrappers that crisp up well when pan seared. Thank goodness we didn't order any raw dishes! read more

Lovely place. I had great time here. Ambience is superb and you will get calm feeling getting into restaurant. Everything is simple and clean. A little different atmosphere than normal restaurant in usa. Service was great. Our server helped us with our questions and suggested few options to try. She was patiently taking our questions and answered with smile. We ordered crabmeat Dumplings which was best among all other makis and we repeated this order in end. In maki we ordered rainbow maki, idaho maki (sweet potato) and Shrimp Tempura maki. Everything turned out to be great. We liked crabmeat Dumplings best though. Japanese is the best choice of food for lunch hands down. I don't know about you, but there's something nice about the size of sushi rolls or sashimi that makes them just the perfect thing to have for lunch with a cup of tea. On a family visit, we tried this place for a lunch on a weekend where they were not doing lunch specials. Looking at the menu, the lunch specials they did have were not organized in a fashion that made me immediately interested anyways. The rolls and presentation were average for cost and taste,and definitely not exceeding expectation, The tea was a cup of hot water and a tea bag, disappointing. Warm saki was good! The staff was very nice and efficient, despite being short staffed. Would I eat here again? Yes, if I was visiting out here. But would I make a special trip to eat at this restaurant if I was out here again? Probably not. read more

Haven't been back here since 2022. So glad to come back and had lunch at Aoi. Same friendly owner greeted me at the door. Service was pleasant. Had three maki combo, toro sashimi, ikura sushi!!! They were all so delicious! Toro sashimi could be more fatty. Felt like the price was a bit high for the toro quality. It took a while before we had our order taken but they were busy and we were in a far corner. Large variety of items on the menu from noodle dishes, rice dishes to sushi and sashimi. Food was satisfying and portions were filling. The cut seemed interesting for some of the sashimi, but they were decently sized. Our family of 4 came for a late lunch on a Tuesday. We saw the amount of varieties on their menu and knew this would be a good place. We were greeted by a friendly staff. She sat us down immediately. The waitress we had was attentive and super friendly. My 2 kids love sushi so they got the 3 maki combo each. My husband enjoyed a katsu don (rice bowl) and I had the miso ramen soup. It was all so delicious and gave a homey feel. The owner later came over and told us about their boba tea shop just a plaza over (2 minutes walk) and we're excited to try that after. Aoi has become our local sushi joint.They're nice, affordable and close by. Especially great, if you have a mid week hankering for sushi. I can't say I have had anything bad, everything has always been really good. I love their veggie maki. Especially the tempura mushroom! I often get their Unagi don, and it's tasty. Not sure why the two entrees were not served at the same time. In particular, the hot entree was served first and turned cold while waiting for the other to come... everything else was good. I loved this place! Came here on a Monday around 7:00 pm for my birthday and we were probably 3 out of 10 in the restaurant at the time. Our server was extremely kind, and I started off my meal with one of their mai tai's (had to, birthday). It was very tasty and packed that punch that most are looking for when they order a mai tai... I feel as though a lot of places mai tai's are strong, but terrible in taste, Aoi delivered both (yay!). For an appetizer we tried their spicy crispy pizza, which I've never heard of or seen on a Japanese menu. It was interesting... it is crispy sushi rice topped with spicy tuna and crunch. It had some heat to it. I did enjoy it, something new to try for sure. For the real deal, I got a volcano maki roll - spicy tuna, with grilled scallop, crab meat mixed on top with spicy mayo - HELLO. It was AWESOME, 13.95 which I feel like wasn't outrageous for the size of the roll and the quality of ingredients inside. Overall, CUTE spot, welcoming staff, and great food/drinks. I was asked to wait for 10mins for a table despite having empty tables in the restaurant. When asked, the waitress said she is cleaning up a table for me. I can't understand why she insist on giving me a table that needs cleaning when there are other clean unoccupied tables available. I ordered a Kinoko soup and Spicy Beef Ramen Soup. The ramen was cooked with chinese-style chilli sauce in the soup that tasted so strange, so much so that it isn't Japenese Ramen at all. The Kinoko soup is decent, not too sweet. At least 1 dish out of 2 tasted decent, which is consoling. I felt that the price of their sushi was grossly overpriced which inhibited me from ordering any sushi. It's a place that I would only go once, definitely not coming back. There are other better places for Japanese food and sushi in the area. read more
