I used to like Happy Alteration and received great service at a reasonable price. Granted, I haven't been there for several years, and I wasn't aware until now that they have new ownership. I took in five pairs of dress pants I'd bought from Men's Wearhouse to Happy Alteration because I wasn't happy with the tailoring done at MW in the past. Big mistake. When I took the pants in, they were right off the hanger or off the shelf, and most of them only needed the waist taken in. The guy tells me it'll be $30 for each pair, which I think is a bit steep, but if they do a great job, fine. So, I picked up the pants, which were on hangers with plastic wrap, and take them home. They fit fine, but they were wrinkled as hell. For $30 each, you can't iron them out? Now I have to take them to a cleaner for pressing. I guess this guy saw me coming, but he damn well never will again. read more

formal bk long dress with swivel slit to one side of the hem. They detached the swivel part so it flopped all around. why??? glad I checked the dress the morning of the event and had a travel sewing kit. had to reattach the loose part back to the hem. Very disappointed took a jumpsuit in to have a zipper replaced cost $40 and it looks like it was sewn by an eight year-old. I'm not a seamstress but at least I can sew straight lines. read more

It's a very small shop in the back of a shopping center on La Palma and Imperial next to the FedEx store. I had 2 sweaters altered and it was done in a week. His rates are very reasonable and very nicely done. If I had one criticism is that he or someone smokes in the back and the garments smelled to cigarettes smoke. It's tough to find a good alterations/tailor, and I wish I had found this place sooner! Usually, I went to this other tailor by my gym, but it appears he retired. So far, I've gotten 2 jeans hemmed (original hem) and the sleeves shortened for 3 casual jackets. There is only one guy who works here, and he's both friendly and professional. His stitching is quality work as it's even for both legs/sleeves, and he asks you for a week before it's ready. Also, I saw a sign in the front that says one can ask "repair alterations" (e.g. if you ended up needing your pants/sleeved shortened more) up to 1 week after items are picked up Original hem = $20 for pants Jacket sleeves = $25 Pricing was a little higher than I was used to before COVID-19, but hey, everyone's gotta make a living. Hello! On my last few visits here, they have really over-charged me for example on alertations for taking-in the arms and waist on tops and a blazer. I do not understand how a retailer can sell a blazer for $20 while an alteration costs $50 at Happy Alteration. Is there a severe thread shortage for tailors or are they taking advantage of us? While I was in the dressing room, I heard a woman expressing the same concern to the gentleman here. It's frustrating because I have been bringing my clothing here often for the past two years. I needed to get my Mother of the Groom and rehearsal dinner dress altered for my son's wedding. Happy Alteration was great! Both dresses came out beautifully, but a few days before the wedding realized I lost a few stress lbs and needed the sleeves taken in a bit to be comfortable for the big day. It was only 4 days before the wedding and I wasn't sure they could turn around the dress in time. The owner exceeded my expectations and said he could have my dress ready in 2 days without charge! The dress was ready as promised, but didn't feel right not paying him something as it was not his error that I requested the additional alteration. This place is so wonderful! I bought a sample Casablanca wedding dress to save some money but it was about 4" too small for me and I couldn't zip it up. They first tried to let out some fabric in between the seams but that only gave them 2". That type of alteration would've been about $100 but it's still a little tricky since I had beading that went around the sides on the dress. I'm actually glad I ended up with the second option- which was a corset back. With this option, it ended up costing $120 and it could've been tricky if I went with someone else since the beading in the back was also intricate l. I love it! I can adjust the corset back however I want and it totally sucks me in all the right places! Will definitely be coming back here! They totally listened and gave suggestions without pressuring me too much. I saw few other wedding dresses here as well so they seem pretty good at altering wedding dresses. I'm sure if I took this dress to a wedding dress boutique to get altered, it probably would've cost upwards of $500. Btw- it's about $40/bustle. read more

I went to Happy Alterations and I didn't have much expectations, as I was just looking for something simple done to the new suits I had purchased. Well... I was in for a surprise, when the gentleman helping me started suggesting what would actually look better. So I figured it'll end up costing me an arm and a leg. NOPE! His prices were fair. I can finally give Happy Alterations a 5 star grade! I had to wait to get my suit back so I have something to actually grade. Tina was super nice and very thorough when making her adjustments. I brought my new, un tailored suit in because it was very big on me. It was a $700 suit and I got it for $135 so I couldn't pass it up! I took my chances. When I returned to get my suit, I tried it on for the second time. Only this time my suit fit very well!!! I couldn't believe it was the same suit that I was nearly swimming in a week before! Tina also made some more recommendations that I will do later when I have more time and I can bring it back. I wish I had a photo of what my suit looked like before Tina fixed it for me. My dress came in the day before prom. It only fit nicely on my hips, so the waist and bust areas were a bit bigger and the length of the dress was longer. I called earlier in the day to tell them that I was stopping by. I ended up coming 10 minutes before closing and it wasn't the same person I spoke with on the phone. Needed to get my wedding dress taken in and only had 10 days to get it done. Read great reviews for Happy Alteration, so I brought the dress down here on a Monday. The man who helped me was very nice and efficient. It took maybe 15 minutes for me to try on the dress and him to pin the dress up where it was too big. He told me to come back on Thursday. Thursday I arrived after work, he knew who I was and brought my dress right out for me. I put it on, it was perfect! In and out in less than 10 minutes. I wanted it dry cleaned, so he told me he would have it ready by Monday. Monday I walked in and saw my dress waiting for me, he brought it over, I paid. No hassles here! Total cost was $40 for the alteration and $20 for dry cleaning. Super happy I found a place that did exactly what I wanted and got it done in 8 days. I came in with a bathing suit I wanted altered, half expecting them to not be able to do what I was looking for, but I was wrong! I spoke with (I think she is the owner) and explained I wanted a few inches off the bottom and to make the top a cross- back. She knew exactly what I wanted. She had me put the swimsuit on to get a perfect fit and was very professional about the whole fitting. This is definitely not a one time stop and you will need to give directions over and over again. The pictures came out great with the dress. I just had to visit the spot multiple times in order for him to get the right alternations. Not to mention it was kinda a hassle because he really didn't want to adjust my dress how I wanted him too because I was pregnant. He kept telling me what I should do and instead of giving me what I wanted for my photo shoot. I had to visit his location 3 times, 2 times for alterations. Just to get it right. Being 8 3/4 months pregnant that made it very hard and it made me extremely late to my shoot. First and foremost, reasonable price for QUALITY work! Originally, I came to Happy Alteration to just get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. I was already happy with the dress itself, but when I came to the shop the manager/owner - very nice guy by the way, was kind enough to offer some expert tips/recommendations. In short - I LOVE MY DRESS. In addition to getting the length shortened, he was able to make the dress appear more feminine, and was able to insert cups in the chest area for girls who are like me who are not so blessed - LOL. As far as the amount of time it took, you just give him a date that you need your stuff back and he will be more than happy to try and accommodate your needs.
