I always get delivery as I live about a mile from 88 China and the drivers are always here before I expect them and are very polite and leave the food exactly as I have asked. I called and spoke with a very nice gentleman and apologized profusely that I needed to cancel our order which was a good amount of money. He said okay I'll tell them to stop making the order. I said okay and that was that. I received a call back from an angry lady who was yelling at me telling me that I wasn't getting a refund and that I wasted all this food. I said I'm sorry but I need to cancel I won't make it to pick it up, she said well nothing is for free you won't be getting a refund and continued on and on. DON'T GO HERE, unless you want to be YELLED AT, LIED TO, and ARGUED WITH if there's a problem! My husband called in a delivery order for 2 different $9.95 dinner specials and a small fried rice. My dinner was not what he ordered. I would have just eaten it, but since it had green peppers in it, no way! Called up to the restaurant to let them know they screwed up the order. Same lady who took our order answered. We told her the problem, and she literally raised her voice and argued that we ordered 2 of the same meal so we got what we ordered AND that she had repeated the wrong order back to us twice and we agreed. NOT TRUE and we told her so. I was standing right there while he ordered and heard the whole conversation. He specifically said he had 2 orders and the first was.... And the second was... She said she had the phone call recorded and we said, "perfect, we'll be right up to listen to it" knowing we ordered correctly. After being called on her lie, she started to back off the yelling and arguing, but was insistent she would not make it right. She said she would not credit us $10 for the wrong food, nor would she deliver the right food UNLESS WE PAID FOR IT! We already paid for it!! Why would we pay twice??? Just moved back to the area yesterday and into my new house today. I used to live not too far from here and called my favorite place to get one of my absolute favorite dishes that I can't find anywhere else. I love their coconut chicken. Unfortunately, the woman who answered the phone today spoke so fast she was difficult to understand. I'm assuming she said something about holding when she answered, but it took me a moment after saying, "I'd like to place an order for pickup," for me to realize I was on hold. When she came back on the line, I gave her my phone number and told her I wanted to place an order for pickup. Again, she said something really fast and with her accent, I couldn't understand what she was saying. I said, " I'm sorry, I didn't understand what you said." She repeated herself, just as fast, and I had to apologize again and tell her that in still couldn't understand what she said. All I got from what she said was, "Something something something O'Fallon." Before I could ask her if she'd mind saying what she said more slowly, she'd hung up on me. I called back a few times, it went straight to voicemail, and then when it did ring through, I was hung up on every time (after a few seconds of silence first). I promise, I was not rude to her when I told her I couldn't understand what she said. I'm really disappointed, I love their Coconut Chicken and have been thinking about it for over 2 1/2 years now. I have been trying to find good Chinese takeout since moving to the St. Louis area a year and a half ago. 2 places I tried were "meh". One had food that tasted good but - for example - in a large order of chicken fried rice, there were exactly 4 pieces of chicken! Suffice to say that 88 China had A LOT more than 4 pieces of chicken in their chicken fried rice. And it was goooood! Very flavorful full, very hot (even after the drive home), some excellent food! I also got the curry chicken. VERY good! Also lots of chicken, onions, pea pods (snowpeas?). The sauce was great. I think I've found my Chinese takeout place! read more

I've only had takeout from here, and it's always been good so my niece & I decided to try it for lunch. The dining room is definitely no frills, but it did allow me to peek in the refrigerator case and see rows and rows of handmade dumplings. The woman who took my order was very courteous and the food came out quickly. We had crab Rangoon, steamed dumplings and orange chicken. It was all very tasty, though the crab Rangoon filling was a little on the sweet side for us. The dumplings were our favorite part! read more

I was so disappointed with the way my husband was spoken to on the phone when he contacted them about food being uncooked. My husband received a completely raw meal and when he called politely said, "if I could have a refund for just that meal, I would appreciate it." This is the one Chinese food restaurant that everyone in the family can agree upon that. They really like the food. All of us have our own distinct tastes and favorite dishes. My husband loves cashew chicken. My daughter loves moo goo gai pan and I love Mei fun. 88 China is the one restaurant that none of us are complaining - everybody's happy with their food. We ordered from Uber. Super prompt delivery. We just sampled a few things but what we had was good. Crab Rangoon were huge and had tons of very creamy cheesy filling. Steamed dumplings were also delish with a lovely ginger sauce. The sesame chicken was also quite yummy, with a soy sauce fried rice. The rice was not what were used to from the north east, and maybe a bit saltier than I like but still fresh and good. Hope to get to try more of their food! read more

Ordered food and the driver texted that he would be late due to rain. Driver sat for more than 30 minutes with food in the car waiting for the rain to stop. Called store and lady that answered kept stating that the food wouldn't be cold. Are you kidding me. The driver has been sitting in the car while it's raining. Drove 5 miles to get my order. Got home and found I had someone elses order. Tried calling for 10 min to complain and got busy signal. Decided to drive back over and was not apologized for wrong order. Waited half hour for them to make my order. I asked for two almond cookies $2 for my trouble and the manager refused. I would not leave. She finally gave me the cookies then yeld at me at the top of her lungs chewing me out that she had to throw out the wrong order and for wanting some concellation for my troubles. This was the worst service I have ever come accross. I will never go back there again. I advise everyone to stay away from this place. Very bad service. This is the best Chinese takeout in the area. My son loves the crab rangoon and sweet and sour chicken, and my wife and I get the hunan chicken with black bean sauce. We also get the egg drop hot and sour soup too, they really hit the spot when it's cold outside. Their coconut chicken is usually great too, though there was a time where we ordered mid-week at an odd time, and the coconut chicken and crab rangoon were just ok. I read all of the reviews on here before ordering, and I've got to say this place was super disappointing. We paid $20 for one order of cashew chicken, one order of shrimp fried rice, and some crab Rangoon. Portion sizes were not awesome, and the food was mostly subpar. Everything went uneaten other than the crab Rangoon, which was actually amazing. If I'm ever craving that, this is definitely where I'll go, but for anything else it's a hard pass.
