Tried this for the first time to get Chinese food. It's now our new favorite. The food is just better, although it is more expensive than most Chinese spots around here. We did take out, which was extremely fast--even on a Saturday night. I had the sesame chicken, which was very crispy, but I like that. First timer! Ordered vermicelli noodles and orange chicken. The place was decent size with two or three other parties when we arrived and then filled up afterwards. TVs to watch sports so very casual. The food itself was just okay to me. Not the best I've had or memorable to be quite honest. The orange chicken was also more breading than chicken that I tried. They have a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese food items to choose from. My mom isn't a big pho fan so it's nice she got to pick a dry noodle dish she was more familiar with. What we ordered & ratings: Pan fried dumplings: 10/10 can't go wrong with dumplings! Beef pho: 8/10 unfortunately very salty. If it wasn't so salty it would have been delicious. Cup of egg flower soup: 5/10 too much cornstarch and no flavorful at all. Like drinking thick pudding. Chow Mein: 10/10 saucy, bouncy noodles and lots of crunchy cooked veggies! Sweet & Sour Chicken: 9/10 I really enjoyed the breading. It almost tasted like a donut bread. But I'm knocking a point off because there was mostly breading and not much chicken. They have nice selection of Asian food- predominately Vietnamese food like pho, etc. We both opted for stir fried dishes with chicken - sweet and sour and broccoli chicken stir fry. Both come with white rice on the side. Portion size and service were both okay. We also got the steak appetizer (bo lui) which was great. Lots of seating inside and they have a bar as well. Met a friend here for lunch and glad I did. I've been looking for a new Asian food spot and think I found it. The menu is a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese. Plenty to choose from. I started with the crab Rangoon and for the shrimp, beef and pork platter that came with noodles and spring roll. Everything. Was delicious but really enjoyed the flavor of the pork. Service was attentive and atmosphere was cozy inside. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. Steady stream of take out orders and diners on a Saturday at lunch time. Very good meal. The waitress was quick bringing food and drinks. Very cool atmosphere with fish tanks music and a bar. The appetizer was delicious, the peanut sauce stood out compared to other places I have been. The broth of the soup and the pork in the noodles were also key elements in the meal. Pros and cons: Food is pretty good, better than a small store front Chinese restaurant or the nasty Panda Express for sure, but not as good as some sit down Asian places in the city. The prices are a bit high in my opinion for the taste, but the portions are decent. I've had a lot of different things there and the Pho is usually decent, but the cashew chicken is really good. Their spring rolls are good too (the fresh ones not the fried ones). I was disappointed in the hot tea selection and definitely the cost of it. I ordered hot tea thinking it would be some type of Asian tea, it was just a basic Lipton tea bag and it was almost $1 more than a soda or iced tea. I believe I paid $4 for it. The kicker was when I drank it all, I asked for another pot of hot water and got charged another time so in total I paid $8 for hot tea. I could've made a full pitcher of tea at home for less than one pot at this place. I've never paid for more hot water at a restaurant and it's not like she brought out another tea bag. There was definitely a language barrier between myself and the server, but the three other people at my table all tried to explain it to her and it just wasn't working out so I gave up and decided if I ever came back, I'd just order water. Years ago it was owned by a different family and I feel it was way better then, but it's still not a bad place just not my first choice. They have a lunch special that's more reasonable on cost, plus you get a side item with your food unlike the dinner menu that comes with nothing!!! We tried to go once and arrived about 12 mins before lunch ended and they wouldn't honor the lunch prices because they said by the time they cooked it, lunch would've be over. The food was delicious and flavorful, but I can't give this place a high rating after my family found a little worm in our hunan chicken. Unfortunately, we discovered the worm after the meal in the leftovers we were getting boxed up to take home. The staff apologized and said they weren't sure how that happened since they clean and steam their vegetables. They did not offer us a discount or to replace the leftovers. I understand it was probably a one time occurrence, but I doubt we will be back with the fear of eating worms. How many did we eat before the discovery?! I drove about 30 mins for this place to get pho and crispy rolls. I have a place near my home, 5 mins but wanted to try something different. The pho broth was very bland and a small portion for the price. The broth had absolutely no flavor what's so ever. I also ordered the fried pork rolls, basically the ones you get at the frozen supermarkets, definitely not authentic. I guess I'm more annoyed at the fact I spent almost $30 for myself and am still hungry and disappointed. I would highly recommend visiting Viet-Thai in Saint Peter's. Huge, huge difference and glad that place is super close my home. I never realized how authentic and traditional Viet-Thai is, highly recommend. I frequent this place on a regular basis but haven't been there in a couple of months. My favorite was the combination fried rice and crab rangoon. Today the service was not good and they never came back to check on us or ask if we needed refills. The fried rice was overcooked and the crab rangoon tasted okay. I was very disappointed today especially when I left a whole plate of fried rice....the waitress asked about the food and I was honest. Great service, great authentic Vietnamese food, clean restaurant, modern design; however, price on the expensive side for portion received. We actually visited here early December and they had their annual anniversary buffet, which is cool. All the items on the rice dish and vermicelli noodle are on point and authentic Vietnamese flavors, even the pork was char-grilled! Base on food & service alone, I'd give them 5 stars. The food was delicious. My husband had the Vietnamese Fried Rice and it was full of flavor. I had the Pho Chicken and it was great. The broth was above and beyond yummy. Was my second trip to the restaurant. Service was good, restaurant was clean however the value for money simply wasn't there. On my send trip I ordered the pho, and while it was OK, it certainly wasn't ok in terms of value. When I ordered,the waitress asked if i wanted to get the super sized pho and I replied no. Having come from California where there are vietnamese restaurants everywhere and ordering pho many many times, I've never found portion size to be an issue,,until this time. The portion size was rediculous, especially considering the $15 price. My previous trip I had a Bahn mi sandwich, it was tasty however the amount of meat was skimpy. Anyway just my 2 cents. I can honestly say without a doubt this will be my last time frequenting this restaurant! The prices are ridiculously high for the small portions of food you receive...I even asked if I was given a lunch size portion of Pho Dac Biet. At $15.95 it should be a full size bowl not a little more than a cup size was given. It had no flavor and very little proteins...they compensate for the lack of meat with a big portion of bean sprouts which I literally laughed out loud about. My Banh Mi Grilled Pork $9.95 had 3 thin, very thin, small slices of pork which did not even reach the ends of the bread and no caramelized onions as stated on the menu. It was disappointing since the sandwich was delicious just lacking pork. My hubby had Kung Pao Chicken $13.95 that he enjoyed but again it was a very small portion. The owner was extremely rude and couldn't be bothered when I asked for more jalapenos and Thai basil. She had a grimace on her face the whole night and never said Thank You when we paid out. I'm sorry but if you raise your prices and ration your portions to the amount of a child's plate then have a sour, RUDE attitude by the owner herself your business is going to slowly but surely fail!! Our family ordered out the other night and decided on Asian Cafe Bar and Grill. I looked through a few reviews and it looked like a good place to grab dinner. Ordering was easy and straight forward. Once we got home and opened everything up, it went downhill fast. Rice containers didn't have much rice (ok, no big deal, but annoying). General Tsao dish tasted off. Not inedible, but off. Everything was red, like it had food coloring in it. I don't know of any spice combination which could have been used that dyes every item in the dish firetruck red. Wanton soup was terrible. I couldn't finish it. It was almost like it had a chemical which shouldn't be in there. Beef and broccoli was EXACTLY LIKE every other cheap American-Chinese restaurant out there. With all the reviews I was hoping for actual cooking and amazing tastes. What I was left with was re-heated food that I've seen a million times in terrible Chinese restaurants. Nothing was made from scratch. I spent more than I would for steak dinners for each member of my immediate family and I was angry at the end of the night. Ended up getting Jack-in-the-box afterwards. I'm rarely pissed after opening to-go orders as my expectations are not high, but this was on another level. 1/10, will not be back. Delicious food in a quiet, laid back and comfortable environment. I ordered the spring rolls, which were absolutely wonderful. I also ordered the pho tai, which is my favorite kind of pho. They ended up bringing me something that was not pho, but it was still pretty tasty ("hu tieu dac biet"). First time coming here and we went after the lunch rush on a Friday. There were only a couple tables in there that had people eating. The server was terrible!! She came up to our table and didn't even speak but gave us the look like 'what do you want'. Then when she brought the food, she damn near spilt my daughters food on her, because she slammed the plate down. Then our drinks were empty for a long while. She ignored us. Then when we asked for our check, she forgot and we sat there while she decided to wipe down clean tables. My husband had to go ask another server for our check and then she came over and then wanted to be nice. The only redeeming thing, is the food was really good.
