We have now been here twice in two weeks because we order food here and bring it over to the pint where we have drinks the paint has no food on its menu but allows you to bring food in and we enjoy the large portions affordable price and decent taste of happy China. They would get more stars if there were a better flavors as in stronger flavors and spicier as well as a Neater store front

Rather disappointed. We've eaten here many times over the years but hadn't been for a while. Today we finally decided to dine in for lunch. It's still a simple, hole-in-the-wall kind of place that's a little rough around the edges and that's fine. ...part of its charm. We got the orange chicken and garlic chicken lunch specials. Both plates looked pretty good. The garlic chicken and crab rangoon were fine. However, the fried breading of my orange chicken was so tough that the little plastic fork would just bend against it. I finally ate my first piece of the chicken and it was bone and/or cartilage. That happens sometimes with fried chicken so i spit it into my napkin and moved on. Then i saw a hair on my plate that was not ours. I brushed the hair aside and moved on. I tried to eat the chicken again. Each piece had that tough breading but the insides were also tough. Tough, hard, stringy, and chewy. Then i looked over at the Sriracha bottle. The tip was covered in some kind of black gunk. After we left and got back to work we realized how much we now smelled like the restaurant's fryers.

Decent Chinese food. A little greasy. The moo shu pork had large chunks of pork which was different than i have had before but really good.

Not bad, slightly above average Chinese food. Workers were kind and helpful, and my food came out very fast.

Usually very great quality. Orange chicken this most recent time was pretty dry, some were even crunchy. Still mostly slapped

I was excited for the green onion pancakes but they were extremely greasy and chewy with little taste. The spring rolls and egg rolls were ok, but nothing special. The crab Rangoon was terribly chewy. General Tso chicken was ok, again nothing special. Garlic pork was actually pretty good but on the whole I don't eat pork so I limited myself to a bite. I also don't eat lamb but did try the Mongolian lamb and I thought it was soft and not super flavorful but other people at my table raved about it. We also had fried rice with veggies and fried rice with tofu. Neither were terribly flavorful. All this to say, I think I was the only one who did not enjoy the dinner.

Went to Taste based on a recommendation from a coworker. Decor was unexpected--large and much…read morenicer than one would expect from the cracked and grimy front door. The inside appeared to be kept clean. It was very early on a Monday evening and we were the only ones there for most of the time. However, there was a steady stream of folks picking up take out. In general the entire experience was mid. The menu is extensive. The food was OK, but nothing that we ordered tasted fabulous. It all seemed to be regular Chinese food, nothing was terrible or disappointing. So if that is what you are looking for, then Taste will be fine. My friend said they had large rooms in the back so if you have a large group, that would be a plus.

Ordered for a quick dinner for the first time, and it wasn't too bad!…read more Pros - Speed of food prep and kitchen efficiency was great - Quantity of food was good for the price - Friendliness of staff Cons - Not terrible, but overly sauced (I ordered the Sesame Chicken, as the first time I go somewhere I always order something simple) Overall not a bad, local quick service Chinese spot.

I rate my Chinese food against an old favorite, CHINA LANE, which closed after Covid, and against…read moresome fine Chinese American restaurants in Chicago, so that bar is pretty high. Thus far no Chinese restaurant in Lafayette has remotely met those standards. The atmosphere was quaint. Nice cozy amount of indoor seating. Nice and clean tables. You have to go to the counter to order. They have no fountain beverages only canned, and no water unless you want to buy bottled. We all chose the water from a cooler freezer, which was not very cold. 3 orders for 3 people which we all planned to mix and match. Orders were pork egg foo young, pork chop suey, and sweet and sour chicken. We then went and sat down at our booth. Our food was done very quickly. All were brought to the booth in brown paper bags. Hmmm do they not want you to eat in? So we opened the bags and pulled out our food trying to share from the plastic trays. The silverware was the very cheapest plasticware that they could have bought. My fork broke leaving tines in my egg foo young. The egg foo young was good but very average they forgot the gravy. I think they overheard us saying we never had it without because she brought some to the table, the gravy was good but nowhere near my Chicago or China Lanes. The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. Very crispy yet soft white meat and the sweet and sour was good. I would highly recommend it. The chop suey was one of the most disappointing dishes, I have eaten at many and this dish was tasty but to call it chop suey was a mistake. They had large chopped hard carrots, nothing like what is in normal chop suey, they did not use bean sprouts in anything that we had. This was in no way a chop suey. That being said except for the large uncooked carrots it was very tasty. Maybe rename. I spoke to someone who eats there periodically and they said they use the same combination for a variety of dishes and just change the meat and name. We also had crab raggoons, these were some of the best I have ever had soft, crispy with a soft yummy center. The rice was excellent, the egg roll was ok, I have bought frozen ones from Sam's that are better. Sad if not for having no table service and the cheapest plasticware I would give the food a 4. I know there is a second Resturant with the same name and their food is the same. Not sure if this one was to be a better one for eating in or not. More. Hands on if so. I hope they step it up some and work on their inside sales more. Would recommend just not to sit eat and expect any customer service. Nice people but they need to work on their inside customer service. One of the better Chinese American foods, they just need to step it up a notch to be a great success. Will eat here again and update this restaurant, they have potential.
