The food was hot and plentiful. We ordered egg foo young which was very good. Very hard to find in Lafayette. Pork chop suey which was fair. Sweet and sour chicken very tender. So you would think I should give a good review. The sauces they had were the most disgusting I have ever had. The sweet and sour tasted like a can and was neither sweet or sour. Maybe very old something very wrong with it. Five people tried it and all spit it it out. The Gravy was no gravy but a very bad watered down broth. Why they would ruin what could have been palatable is beyond me. They only had takeout. Will keep looking for a good Chinese place to eat this is not it. read more

I ordered from them the other day through GrubHub and it should be noted firstly that this is not a restaurant so much as just a carryout spot -- at least when I think of restaurant, I think of somewhere you can actually sit down and eat within the establishment, not somewhere you speak with someone through a glass door via a speaker and have your food shuttled through a drop box. I see from other reviews that it used to be a sitdown place and stopped being such long before the pandemic, though, so I guess that explains the name. All that aside, I was pleasantly taken aback by what I received. I went in expecting Panda Express portion sizes -- meaning, if you are lucky, you will get at the most an imperial cup of meat with your noodles and rice for ~$9-10. So I had ordered a few different chicken dishes thinking two of them would amount to a meal at least, but what I got was two days worth of food, the portion sizes for their $6-10 plates are so generous. The food quality itself is fairly good, as far as Asian American classics like General Tso's, orange, and sweet and sour chicken goes. So on a price per quality basis, I would say if you can make it over here, skip out on all the nasty and/or overpriced Asian cuisine joints ripping off students on the other side of the river and come here. Your wallet and belly will thank you. This at the moment ranks as one of the best in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, right up there with Sushi Don. read more

Pretty solid place for Chinese takeout. This is conveniently located near my home and I've ordered for pick up twice. I love the general tsos and sesame chicken combination plate. It comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll, however I substitute the fried rice for lo mein for a couple dollars extra. So worth it! I love their soft lo mein noodles. I'm definitely a fan and this is our go to pick up spot if we're craving Chinese. The hours are reasonable and I love supporting family run restaurants! read more

Horrible. The only reason I am not giving them 1 star is because the crab Rangoon were actually delicious. I should have known when I went to get the food. One of the cooks was eating out front and dipping everything in ranch and tarter sauce. It was a desert and the place looked unkept. Singapore mi fun looked delicious and tasted like a moldy dish rag smells. For real. It was so bad I could not eat it. The chicken and garlic sauce was edible but I couldn't enjoy it after the noodle incident. The chicken was barely cooked. Literally the only good thing about this meal was the crab Rangoon and the free sugar doughnuts. That's sad. I wanted to love this place, but damn it was bad. read more

I ordered two shrimp spring rolls and shrimp with Chinese vegetables. Most other places I've had spring rolls you get three or four not one per price. New Peking's spring rolls were the size of a mini burrito, not what I've usually encountered. There was no flavor, no shrimp that I could see or taste, mostly shredded cabbage. Would not order those again. The shrimp with Chinese vegetables was mediocre. I really wish we had better options for Chinese here. read more

The Peking Chinese Restaurant might just be the best Chinese food delivery place in town! We were at a friend's house for movie night and craved some delicious Chinese comfort dinner. We ordered Sesame Chicken, Singapore Mei Fun, Low Mein, General Tsou, 1 order of Crab Rangoon and 1 order of spring rolls. The pricing is good, you pay about 7-10$ per dish. The pricing is very good when you take the portion size into consideration. The pricing is extremely good when you take delivery into consideration. Everything was absolutely delicious. Even though the Singapore Mei Fun is started to be spicy, it is very much edible for the lesser spice tolerant. The portion sizes are big enough for 2 people to order 1 dish or at least have nicely portioned leftovers. The Crab Rangoon come at 10 pieces per order and are also everything you want in them. The spring rolls are crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. And finally, the delivery took like 30 minutes tops from order to delivery. So, what else can you ask for? If you want to indulge in Chinese food that just makes you feel comfy, this is the place to go (or rather: have it delivered from ;) )! read more

Overall, an OK place. However, the past two times I have ordered a dish with "beef" in the description, Hunan Beef, Orange Beef, instead they have contained chicken. I know the difference. Don't know why they are using chicken with a dark, beef like, sauce. Maybe beef is too expensive; raise the price. The beef is available at the WalMart across the parking lot. This is no Longer a buffet. Even though there is plenty of seating it's obvious their primary business is takeout. We didn't know so we went in for Sunday lunch. They served us well it was just very empty in the dining room. More importantly The food was plentiful, tasty and served hot. They don't mind if you make some substitutions. Peking feels like a restaurant in decline. The buffet is shut down, a lot of the tables are used for storage, and the soda machine doesn't work anymore. All to say that they now just do takeout. That said, it's not a bad American Chinese takeout place. There's not much on the menu that would be recognizable in Hong Kong or Peking, but for an American palette, it's decent quality at a decent price. No complaints about the service, either. If you're in the mood for some chow mein or General Tso's chicken or moo goo gai pan, and you're in the neighborhood, Peking is worth a try. read more

My husband and I have lived in different states and always look for awesome restaurants. We have friends all over that world, so we have had our fair share of authentic food. This restaurant was fantastic! Friendly staff, clean, and reminded me of restaurants in China town. To people who have not experienced the culture and how most authentic Chinese restaurants are ( yes they have soda stored out in the main area) you would be confused to think of it as a disappointing experience. This isn't going to win any Best Chinese Food awards by any means, but it is what it is: an inexpensive delivery/take-out Chinese restaurant serving dishes that most people in China have probably never even heard of. Think of it as Chinese fastfood. When compared to restaurants that match that description, Peking is easily above average -- way, way better than the likes of Panda Express, for example. The food is cooked so warm that the containers are still too hot to touch after a ten-minute drive home, the taste is quite flavorful (even if sometimes there's more breading on the chicken than is altogether necessary), and they've never bungled our somewhat large orders. On top of that, they give you a ton of food. Most people could probably split one dish with another person and have enough to eat. I like to get the General Tso's chicken combination plate, with fried rice and an eggroll, and I always have leftovers. Depending on how hungry I am, sometimes I have enough to reheat for two more meals. (The fried rice tastes incredible when reheated in the leftover General Tso sauce, by the way.) When I'm in town and in the mood for tasty, fast-food-style Chinese food, I can't think of a much better restaurant than Peking. read more

This was supposed to be the highpoint of a ridiculous journey to find a replacement part for one of the tools in my shop. While running around town looking for it, all I could think about was Chinese. Seeing that I was on 18th st already, it felt like kismet when I saw this takeout menu on the floor of my car. First off, realize that this is all the way the south side of town by Veteran's. What started as a short hop to some hot hunan beef took more than 20 minutes with all the lights. Finally getting there though, hungrier than ever all seemed worth while when the kind looking Chinese woman smiled. For some reason most Chinese women who run takeout places look angry or they might just be angry to see me. Either way, the entire time I was driving back home with this heavy bag of rice and beef, I knew it was going to be delicious, that I had found this amazing hole in the wall. Not to mention, the quantity of food is definitely better than any other place in town. Getting home and finally unboxing my food, I was in for sore disappointment made worse for how far it is from civilization. The pork fried rice underneath wasn't terrible, however the Hunan Beef that covered it was almost inedible (keep in mind, as a poor college student, and a starving one at that, I'll eat almost anything). It was covered in this thick semitransparent black sauce with small, still fairly firm black beans in it. Incredible salty with no real taste otherwise. Beef was incredibly chewy and overcooked. Deserves +1 for the smiling asian woman though. read more

I have never gotten more gross Chinese food in my life, I ordered seafood delight and the seafood was spoiled. I know seafood. When I called them and told them about the young lady gave me an older lady who said that they're not going to make it good because most of the people who call in lie!!! This is by far the worst Chinese I've had in the greater lafayette area. Plastic looking vegetables, fried rice w no soy (looked like a box yellow rice mix w make believe plastic vegetables), egg roll only had cabbage, wontons seemed to have been fried more than once and the general tso chicken, while spicy, tasted like breaded rubber. We were told that we would have a 40 minute wait. It turned into a 1.5 hour wait for delivery, food was cold and there was a delivery charge which was not mentioned on their menu or when we placed the order. I visited/ordered for the first time 10/7/2018 at approximately 9:00 pm, I ordered the 87. Vegetable Delight and ate in their dining area, the quantity was good, the flavor was alright, but the consistency of the sauce was horrible, the sauce was literally a puddle of liquid on the bottom of the styrofoam plate, stir fry sauces should have some body to them so that each morsel of food is coated with the flavor, not a gluey mess but a slight coating with a nice sheen to it too, maybe it was because it was close to closing time, maybe because they ran out of cornstarch or arrowroot powder to thicken sauces with..... I don't know, or maybe they were all hungry and wanted to eat since as soon as I got my food the whole family/workers sat down and started eating too. After I purchased my food & looked around, I was immediately rebelled by how nasty and unkept the place was. It looked like they just moved in overnight & started cooking. The floors filthy, they use part of the floor as storage and it looks like they don't own a vacuum. Unfortunately, I had already paid and didn't want to ask for refund. I ordered the vegetable delight, chicken & broccoli & 1 shrimp roll The shrimp roll was shrimpless The vegetable delight was average at best. I picked some veggies out & three or away. The chicken & broccoli was in the pint sized carton, even though it was loaded with sauce. Of course, that was a mess & nothing was actually good. I will never spend a penny there again. I'm traveling for work and wanted to eat some veggies since I rarely get a chance to eat decent. A burger would've been better. read more

Szechwan Tofu lunch special was a good portion of food for the money with great flavor. The husband is friendlier than his wife. Better for take out, although they do have 14 tables, they are not cleaned regularly. You would think with their 3 kids there they should be cleaner. My experience with the Peking Chinese Buffet which is not a buffet at all was very disappointing. They have closed the eat in part of the restaurant completely so we are left with a Chinese Buffet that is take out and delivery only. Now that the confusing part has been cleared up now for the actual review. They have the same basic Chinese menu as most everyone else has except they have cut corners on the food to make it cheaper to produce. They even offer to cook your food in Olive Oil for $1 extra. The food was not cooked very well and was not very good. Most of these type of restaurants serve the same food so you expect a certain level of taste and quality with what you ordered and the Peking was well below average. I could overlook the confusing situation if the food was at least average or better but its just not. When you walk in to pick up your food it looks like it is out of business and the lobby is being used for storage. Obviously it has been in a downward spiral and I think its time to shut the doors! read more

The items were good, I recommend ordering two entrees to split between four people and just share. The compromise is worth the money saved. Well, I was disappointed today. I ordered L10 Beef with Broccoli and had it delivered. I paid an extra fee for delivery, which I don't normally mind. But, I was not happy with my food today. First, the bowl was 2/3 rice. In the past, it's typically been about 1/2 rice, 1/2 whatever dish I ordered. Second, every piece of beef I ate had fat it in. It was chewy and tough. Sorry, Peking, but my rating has dropped on you. Paid $10 with tip for mostly rice and a small amount of beef that was fatty. Not cool. :-( read more
