The place looks like a local Chinese place, a bit rundown which is good. They have a nice little choose your own condiments bar. I can tell the egg is quite flavorful but is a bit old. The beef is hard and not tender at all. The noodles are quite nice and slippery. The server was very kind. If not for the server I may have just got up and left. Joking. The broth was great and warm while the added condiment only enhanced the flavor even more. I would give this place a 3 stars as the was alright and nothing extraordinary. read more

A small noodle shop with a variety of Chinese entrees. They had a good number of customers around 1pm, it's a tiny shop on a slow street next to the library. We ordered the braided beef noodle soup, pot stickers, steamed dumplings and a Chow Fun with beef. The beef was the same for both, I think they use just the braided beef shank for both dishes, (sliced thin and tender). The beef noodle soup didn't have too strong flavor - clear, but the portion was good. This was not the spicy Taiwanese style, but I did expect a darker beef broth. I could have used some cilantro and maybe chili oil at the table. The noodles were likely made in-house as it seemed like each noodle was at least 2 feet long. The dumplings were dumplings, I didn't expect much when I ordered them. The Chow Fun was oily, not a long of chow fun, more bean sprouts. The flavor was good though. I wouldn't search out Noodles and I, but the pricing was good. I just wish portions were a bit better on the Chow fun. But I think their specialty is the house made noodles in soup more than the full array of noodles dishes anyway. read more

The kiosk threw me off a bit but I got what I ordered and absolutely enjoyed it. I asked the only server walking around for extra lime and he delivered. I can't remember if there was music playing. I had a really bad experience here. The service was poor, and before I even found out there was a napkin in my friend's pho, I had only taken two bites from my own bowl. After that, I left it alone because the whole situation was so disgusting. When we brought it up, the staff accused us of doing it on purpose and kept saying, "we have cameras, we have cameras." I told them to please check the footage, but instead of addressing it, the guy stormed off to the back and no one wanted to talk to us anymore. They also refused to give us a full refund. Tidy corner bin turned cute Korean and Japanese good food stop, I can highly recommend especially after my friends already had told me they had great meals here. I picked the Monday dinner destination with them and found a clean, well managed, fast serving, and polite setup. Noticed electronic stations for quick self picks and takeout, many others turned out to get their orders and run off, has to be a solid choice for Asian cuisine when we white boys are the minority! Menu wasn't too odd for he translations, wished they had portion sizes or calories to help me decide on what is right for my appetite. Dumplings appetizer was way too small for how good it was. The two others went basic, fried noodles, ramen, and I had to get pad Thai with shrimp. Really like their self serve water infused with lime, extra special touch and I say that should be a common sip drip everywhere! So refreshing! Our entrees appeared, plates well covered and piled up, we all had a good time. Balanced spices and noodles done right across all three, surprising for me was a decent shrimp amount unlike most seafood options that are more skimpy than scampi. Pretty good Chinese food! I ordered the N1 Braised Beef Noodle Soup and it was not bad! Obviously not fully authentic but for West Lafayette, Indiana, I definitely consider this good Asian food for the area. I do miss my SoCal Asian restaurants, but here I can at least get a little taste of home. Okay, so now about the noodles: the noodles were thin but held the flavorful broth to them. The noodles did not seem handmade which I wish it was. The beef was a little tough to bite but still had tenderness to it. The broth was really good and I finished it all. Overall, this dish was simple yet comforting. The price here is reasonable for the portions given, but definitely not cheap. They only gave us beef pho, and that was upsetting because we paid more for it. My partner and I even ordered up front, not at the kiosk, and we asked for no onion and had a detailed conversation about it with the gentleman taking our order, yet still ended up with lots of onion and the completely wrong dish. I've come here for multiple years since starting at Purdue and I've always gotten the Shrimp Pad Thai. I think the ownership changed and since then, the food has changed. The Shrimp Pad Thai was extremely dry and bland. The shrimp had no seasoning. I'm so sad because this was my favorite place along with my favorite dish. Their service is magnificent as you will be able to pick-up your food within 10-15 minutes after your order. One thing to note is that their noodles are quite expensive ($13++). However, the portion is large. Life hack: get the Fatty Beef Pho instead of your regular beef pho because the beef is thinner, softer, and has some fat on it. It's delicious. This place is a fairly new addition to West Lafayette, and I'm glad I tried it out before I leave to graduate! I got the spicy beef noodle soup, and it was pretty good. I think they have the best beef noodles on campus, but the soup does get a bit oily. My friend got the Vietnamese Pho and that was actually a lot better than Green Leaf! It was surprising because last year when she went she said the pho wasn't good so she wanted to give it a try here again, and she's glad she did. This place was super cute and convenient. It's located where Maru Sushi was before it moved across the street, and though the look may have completely changed, Noodles & I managed to keep the initiate, tucked away, almost cafe-like vibe. It's now a lot lighter and has a clean aesthetic to it. Solid Asian noodle place with Japanese, Chinese (Cantonese, Beijing Sichuan), Taiwanese, Korean, Thai, and Singapore flavors. A+++ on variety! Completely different from Noodle and Company, and I feel like the flavor profiles are so different that there's no competition (there is). Service was quick, place has a very clean feel to it. Excellent for date night, friends night out, the aftermath of breakfast club, and late night study sessions. Especially because it's just around the corner from study spots like Vienna and Greyhouse. REALLY good for winter nights or when you're getting a quick, sit-down lunch between classes or work (and Maru Sushi is too full). Won't lie, this isn't the best place for vegetarians or vegans. Most of the dishes have some sort of meat. There are definitely more options if you're a pescetarian, as there's a good number of seafood options. However, it's first rate from anyone lactose-intolerant or allergic to milk. My first time, I came here with my club's treasurer for a late dinner on Monday (Maru Sushi was closed). It was definitely steered more towards an Asian crowd. While I excited at all the options like the fried udon, roast duck noodle, and the Dan Dan noodles, my friend (I'd only introduced him to Panda Express, Yummy Time, Maru Sushi, and Basil Thai by that point) was very confused. I ended up ordering the Singapore Mee Fu and he got the Braised Beef Noodle. I was REALLY happy with my Singapore Mee Fun, as it had been the year after I'd lived and worked for a couple of months in Singapore. After my time there, I missed the unique flavors from there and this made me really happy. However, my friend was really confused because Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle soup apparently doesn't taste anything like American beef noodle soup. The way the beef was cooked confused him, the noodles confused him, and he kept asking why they put a whole egg in it. Overall though, he didn't hate. There's definitely a lot of flavor in these dishes in respect to that OTHER noodle place. For my first time visit I got the Vietnamese Pho with beef. There's a handful of pho options, but you gotta go with the Vietnamese one right. My bowl of pho was a large, expected size, but very easy to consume for a lunch. It came out quickly, piping hot. It was a little on the salty side, but all in all, that's some good lunchtime pho. PHO-NOMENAL! My friend got the pad thai, and he was also pleased with his meal. I will be coming back to try other dishes for sure. Places like this need the business. Plus it's got a nice sit-down restaurant feel, but you just order and pay up front and then leave when you're done. That's bonus convenience worth expressing. Noodle & I? Our first visit to Noodles & I was okay. The service wasn't great... we had to refill our own waters the whole time. The boys loved the braised beef noodle soup with James claiming it was "the best soup ever!" The gyoza and spring rolls were yummy too. I was pretty disappointed in the Dan-Dan noodles. They were really basic and one dimensional and had an unfortunate texture from using peanut butter in the sauce. There are very few vegetarian options here. The only one I ever have, the vegetarian friend lomein, is not on the menu, but is a good dish to ask for. Great taste and perfect quantity. It's a tad bit expensive, but the taste is worth it. read more
