    Hot Honey Chicken Bowl
    Lacy D.

So, so, so good! I stopped in around noon on a Saturday afternoon and was the only person there, so service was quick. I had the Hot Honey chicken bowl and it was perfect for a slightly chilly day. I sat outside in the sun and enjoyed my warm bowl. I really love Happy + Hale and wish we had one where I live!

For some reason I always just assumed this place was ultra healthy and not tasty. I was so wrong. I can't believe I didn't know how good their bowls were until today. The options here are amazing and there is a bowl for everybody. It is not focused on one type of cuisine and has bowls with indian, asian, tex mex, and more flavors. They also have plenty of vegan options. The portions are hefty, the food is fresh and so delicious, and the staff is nice and helpful. I also absolutely love that they'll mix it up and chop it up for you because most build your own bowl places are filled to the top and hard to mix. This makes it so much more enjoyable. I made a bowl with the kabob chicken, chipotle tenderloin, white rice, arugula, corn, diced onions, broccoli, feta, herb yogurt, and achari aioli. It was SO good and I was full all day from it. I'll definitely be frequenting this spot from now on.

I came here for a quick dinner on a Friday. It was just what I wanted. A grab your own bowl that I could take on the road. It was very fast and easy. I made my own bowl. The worker was nice and explained the process. There was dining inside and out. There was a base, a protein, three vegetables and a dressing. The bowl was pretty filling! I was surprised! Ingredients tasted fresh and flavors worked well together. I was overall very happy with my meal!

Clean modern atmosphere. Friendly and fast service. Said hello when I walked in the door. There are many bowls you can select or make your own, along with breakfast items, and smoothies. I chose to create my own bowl with mixed greens and brown rice, herb roasted chicken as the protein. You get three veggies for free so I had black beans, roasted broccoli and sweet potatoes. Most of the toppings are extra but not the cilantro or the crispy onion straws, which is what I got. With the honey haberno sauce to top it off. Delicious. I'll add this place to my bowl restaurant rotation.

Funny story... I was not going to come here. I had plans to get a milkshake from the Cookout next door, but opted for the healthier option. And boy, am I glad to have made the right choice. This place is similar to your Cava, almost like Chipotle.. but better. A clean establishment, decent fountain drinks to choose from, and huge portions.

I came with my boyfriend on a weekday afternoon for lunch after the gym. The inside was very clean and open (it kind of reminded me of Sweet Green if you've heard of that chain). I ordered the protein bowl with Thai sesame vinaigrette instead of the honey habanero dressing. The protein bowl was really delicious - this has become my go-to order whenever I visit Happy + Hale! Overall, Happy + Hale is a great after-gym lunch/dinner and I'll definitely be back!

I love Happy and Hale! I always feel healthier after eating here, it's definitely better than fast food but doesn't cost a whole lot more. The protein bowl is probably my favorite. I like this location because there is plenty of parking. Definitely check this place out for lunch!

I had an Offline offer to use at this location. I went with the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl. They make it in front of you so you could add other toppings if you wanted (assuming added costs). I will say it is a little pricey for the amount of food that you get so I wouldn't want to eat here that often. The taste was pretty good but I wouldn't say it was outstanding. I also ordered a pink drink and it was good and refreshing. If you're feeling like eating something healthy, I would come here. It probably helps that it's right next to O2 fitness. The restaurant is located in a shopping center so parking is super easy.

A healthy version of Chipotle... with better food. Got the Hale Caesar, would definitely recommend it. I'm not vegan, but this bowl is and I couldn't get enough of it. Buffalo cauliflower is extremely good.

    Coco Curry Bowl

Stopped in for dinner last night. The Coco Curry bowl with chicken was phenomenal. Good portion size, great flavor. Husband ordered the Mediterranean bowl and loved it, too. You could also create your own bowls picking base, protein, toppings but we thought the signature bowls would probably be the perfect combo of ingredients, which they were. This location is right next to a gym and lots of gym goers were picking up bowls after their workouts. Great place to grab a healthy but delicious dinner!

Happy + Hale is a new favorite of mine! I had a deal through a subscription which led me here for the first time. Great bowl options, very customizable, fresh, and so tasty! Even my husband who tends to not love salads and fresh food as much as I can't wait to go back. The staff was friendly and helpful. As I understand there are many locations, but this one is in the new U Hill area and is really neat. My only suggestion to the business is having a way in the online ordering to sub an item (of same type/price) in a non-custom bowl like you can in person without having a charge.

Great spot if you're looking for healthier food options. They offer a variety of healthy options....salads, bowls and wraps. Prices are pretty decent and you get a lot of food. I decided to try the beef meatball bowl and it was very tasty. I wished it came with more than three meatballs.

We had eaten at another Happy + Hale before but not this new location in the U Hill area. We came on a Wednesday night with a special offer from a local dining club. They are like many other fast casual places that offer a variety of salads, bowls, breakfast items and beverages. Our server was very quick and efficient, and we got our quinoa bowl and protein bowl very quickly, plus cups for our fountain drinks. The food was delicious and filling, and their ice tea drinks are very unique (one had dragonfruit). Definitely had a good experience and glad that this location is closer to our house than the others.

If you add a topping, you pay the full upcharge, even though it's just half a pizza (though maybe they put a whole pizza's worth on half?). I got the calamari, thinking that for a $15 app, it could just be my lunch. Alas, the portion was quite small (see photo; several of the fried bits were fried pepper, not even squid), and it was just okay. Some pieces were pretty rubbery. I also tried a bit of my husband's pizza. The crust is lovely, and the sauce was very flavorful and complex. Service was friendly but a bit lacking. They forgot to bring out my husband's salad until after his pizza came out, and when we were done, I had to go find a waitperson to get our check. Also when I googled up the lunch special price to double-check, I learned it's also supposed to come with a drink, which I guess they forgot to tell us or offer us. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the spring weather. If a friend suggested meeting up here to grab a drink and share a pizza, I'd say sure! But I wouldn't waste my money on the calamari again.

I came at 5:45 on a Monday (because no other places are open on Mondays!), and was one of maybe four me. In the place. The rest were moms with one or two (or more!) kids, some waiting for dad to join them after work. I ate in a covered patio that in a few months will be too hot to endure. But tonight, mid-March, it's a sunny delight. I ordered a smashburger and a Kingstown Negroni. Drae stirred my drink and out the order in, and it arrived with fries just minutes later. Juicy double patty burger, caramelized onions, cheese, salt & pepper fries. Fresh and very tasty. WiFi was fast, music was smooth but subdued. (Think Sade and Barry White dueling. Wish I wasn't alone!) Kids were everywhere, but very well-behaved and in explore mode, which I find adorable! There are outside areas covered in open or tarps, clear flexi-glass walled off areas, and true "indoor" places you can watch TV in. Everything from Top Gear to REN & Stimpy. Since it was our first time at Pure Soul, the host gave us drinks on the house (we got Sweet Tea, Lemonade, and Root Beer). The tea and lemonade were on the sweeter side, but I enjoyed both. My sister liked the root beer, which was from Uncle's Scott's, a local NC brand. They also offer a discount for teachers, students, and veterans. For entrees, we got the: - Drumstix plate (BBQ, buffalo, or fried- included rice and a sauce): We chose fried- it was perfectly crispy, so tasty. Couldn't choose between hot honey and honey mustard, so they gave us both, again so nice. Rice was well-cooked. - Chicago burger (grilled onions, cheddar, pickles, tangy aioli): Classic! Enjoyed this overall. - Fried fish plate (includes rice, slaw & tartar sauce): This is funny, but this dish was a bit too fishy for me lol. But crazy how well they do their vegan alternatives. - BBQ plate ("pulled pork" in a sweet BBQ sauce, served with slaw): Probably my least favorite entree, I think the pork was too sweet for me, but it did balance with the slaw. We tried a bunch of sides, which from my most to least favorites were: Soul Mac (not too cheesy), Hushpuppies (crispy outside, pillowy inside), Rob's Favorite Cornbread (so moist), Sweet Potato Fries (classic), Bilbo's Greens, Blackeyed Peas & Veggies, and Nik's Candied Yams (too sweet for me). Our son had the kids impossible burger and mac n cheese. My wife had the Soul Rolls and I had the bbq (vinegar based) plate with slaw, mac and cheese and greens. We also had 2 drumsticks. The kids plate was devoured quickly- the burger is slider-sized and comes with onion, tomato, lettuce and pickles on the side (surprisingly the veggies were untouched but I claimed the pickles). My wife said the Soul Rolls were a 10/10- crispy eggrolls stuffed with mac, greens and sweet bbq protein. My plate was good too but I wish it came with bread instead of counting it as a side. Also wish it had a little sauce on the side. Greens were seasoned well and the mac was creamy. Drumstick was amazing but a bit steep at 4 bucks each. Only criticism is that we wish the side portions were a little bigger for the price. Still won't stop us from returning in the future when in town!
