Very nice lunch. Conveniently located next door to Safelite so as we waited for our windshield repair we grabbed lunch. I had the Greek chicken salad wrap and my daughter had the beet and arugula salad with grilled chicken and avocado. The food was fresh and flavorful! We were both very happy with our meals. I have loved Saladelia since the first time I tried it several years ago. I'm glad to say that after having it this weekend, I still love it just as much. The salmon was just as flaky and flavorful as always, the basil rotini was as amazing as usual, and don't get me started on the hummus that I could eat with a spoon (and did). There is only one long bench seat inside and several seats outside, but I always get my food to go. No one needs to see me scarfing down my food like I've never eaten a decent meal before. If you are thinking about trying it, I would suggest the chicken salad, salmon, hummus, both pasta salads, grape leaves, and spanakopita. read more

I have yet to explore anything but their chocolate chip scones and I shouldn't even be writing this because the secret is now out on how GOOD they are! Luckily between here and The Mad Hatter Cafe they're sister bakery/cafes so if you strike out ordering at one place, you can call the other for what's in stock! These scones remind me of my childhood going to a restaurant with the best chocolate chip muffins and these scones tastes JUST like those muffin tops! I make sure to buy them in bulk to bring home to share. I enjoy them in the morning with my coffee and they last for 3-5 days on the counter! They're delicious and I can't wait to be back for my restock! Perhaps they can even sell them in bulk frozen because I feel bad taking a chunk of their stock weekly but they're too good not to!! I'm updating my review based on the new location. The coffee and food is still excellent! And the staff is so friendly. They've moved to 3604 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd in a stand-alone building with ample parking and outdoor seating out front. However, I wouldn't say this is a good place to work. The inside is very small and set up mostly for takeout orders. The outside would be great for lunch with a friend or reading a book; I wouldn't say it's conducive to working on a laptop. Inside now has very limited seating at a long table where you could plug into an outlet. It seems like they've focused their efforts on great food for outdoor dining, takeout, or catering rather than meeting space inside. Still a great place to grab lunch or dinner though! read more

Stopped by here for a light dinner. We were in the mood for some sandwiches and wraps. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki. I had to take off 1 star because it took a while (at least 20 minutes) before our food came out. Food-wise, my wrap was amazing. The chicken was juicy and the tzatziki sauce brought a lot of flavors. I love Saladelia. I come before I work night shifts, and Elizabeth who works at the front is incredibly kind and hardworking. She gives the best customer service and food recommendations. Will keep coming back as long as she is working there. All front of house staff are extremely patient and kind with other customers too. Management could be nicer to employees. I've worked in restaurants before and I see the moments of disrespect. Whoever is working FOH should be making well over $15 AND tips should be shared among staff. Minus one star for this. As busy as they are we all know cost of living has increased and employees pay needs to reflect that. read more

The food is still great for takeout but I'll never go again to eat in person. They have only one indoor table, the rest are in the hot parking lot under a tent. They have a loud, giant fan but it can't dispel NC heat and mainly it just makes it so you have to yell across the table. Unless you enjoy sweating through your clothes and yelling during lunch (and having to park at a tire dealership two buildings away) pick a different spot or get it to go!! So sobummed. I had never heard of Saladelia Cafe before my visit and I always excited to try a new spot. The parking lot to the cafe was good. It's inside of a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. The inside of the restaurant is fairly big in size. There are 2 sides one near the register and then other side is like open seating. We ended up sitting near the back. They also have a HUGE table for large groups which was great. I ordered the Gyro + Chips, my son had the grilled cheese sandwich + chips and my husband had the chicken sandwich + chips and everything was tasty. My son finished his entire grilled cheese so either he was hungry or it was really good. I think it was the latter. Here is why I didn't rate it a 4 or higher. When I went to get my fountain drink the sprite tab wasn't working. So, the staff member went to get the manager. He comes out and I tell him that it wasn't working, he replies with an attitude "yes! It does" and pushes the machine a little harder and the "sprite" comes out, well, when it comes out it's like yellowish almost like ginger ale. So, first he had an attitude & second it was yellowish, then he just walks off. The staff members there were all very nice and pleasant. The guy that checked me out was very knowledgeable of the menu and he answered all of my questions. Overall good restaurant & food but the manager I wasn't to impressed it. Hadn't eaten here in many years and stopped in on a Monday evening for a light dinner. It was confusing at first because there were several customers milling around and no staff person acknowledged us. Then someone who looked like a manager came out and took our order, but he didn't ask for our name or give us a number to take to our table. He said we could swap out chips for one of their housemade sides. We ordered two ice teas with mint, a chicken shawarma and a Greek wrap. We were handed two hot mint teas instead of our ice teas (okay, maybe he misheard me). When I saw the receipt that was emailed to us, we were charged extra fees for the two sides -- they never mentioned that. When our food order was ready, a server was walking around looking for our number but we were never handed one. I had to show her our number on the receipt that was emailed to us. We enjoyed the food and the sides, but the service was very uneven. I know getting good help is hard for restaurants right now but the man who took our order was clearly a supervisor of some sort and should have done better. read more

The fattoush wasn't anything extraordinary but it wasn't there freshest. The stuffed grape leaves were literally horrible. I don't think I've had a grape leaf that tasted this poorly. The beet salad was good and the tabouli was fresh but small portion. I was disappointed in the grape leaves, didn't seem they were fresh as the rice and leaves were mushy. Food came out quickly. The food here was good, however, my order was wrong. I ordered online and was missing several ingredients on my sandwich as well as any dressing, so the taste was pretty bland. I waited in line for 10 minutes behind dine-in customers to get my pick up order that was paid for. I think this would be a great weekend spot to get some quality food. The prices match the quality of the food and the parking is convenient, but I would recommend checking your order. I had tried Mad Hatter, Saladelia's sister restaurant, and was excited to try a Mediterranean restaurant with the same coffee and pastries I know and love. I've gotten the shawarma and the loaded hummus bowl, both very good and filling. The loaded hummus bowl is under $9 and comes with a huge scoop of hummus, Lamb, delicious chickpeas that almost tasted fried, and a ton of pita points. This restaurant is great for picking up food for yourself or a group and also is a nice environment for meeting friends for lunch. I tried to do work here one time, but it does not have the same coffee shop cozy vibe as Mad Hatter, so I would recommend posting up with a laptop somewhere else! read more

The kafta kabab are less than half the width they used to be and you get 3 tiny (as opposed to decent sized) pita triangles with the entree. I'm reading many negative reviews and feel the need to comment on our experience, a very positive one. We went in right around their new opening and spoke directly with the owners. They were gracious and welcoming and the staff was learning how everything worked. Yes, the inside seating area is smaller but I can also appreciate the idea of wanting people to have conversations and possibly talk to a neighbor, not stare at their phones. Additionally, our food was great. My son tried the kafta and really enjoyed it. He's pretty picky so this was a huge win. I had the salmon, my daughter and husband the kabobs. We enjoyed the variety of sides and my kids loved the pitas. We also had the unique opportunity of taking a tour of the kitchen. It was a great experience and my daughter has said touring the kitchen was one of her favorite childhood memories to date (she lives baking). If you are a person who had loved the former iteration of Saladelia for years, you might be extremely disappointed with the new set up. I suppose we all look for different qualities in a local cafe but for me, the new location is a huge thumbs down. We used to go to Saladelia regularly, sometimes to eat in and often for take out. Now it is no longer even a consideration when we decide where to get food. It has all been said in other reviews but the message sent is that their energy looks to be focused on the catering side of their business and not on the regular people stopping by. The eat in seating situation is awful- feels like zero care was put into making it a place you would want people to sit and enjoy. Who in their right mind would want to sit outside in NC summer heat for a leisurely meal? That in itself is almost enough for me to skip this place (almost!) but what put me over the edge is that the service has become incredibly curt and unfriendly, like they are doing you a favor by taking your money for food. Put some folks who know how to smile in the front, come on! And finally, a fair number of menu items do not taste the same, what happened to the old recipes for grape leaves or the Lebanese green beans? I'm sorry to say it (really! I miss the old saladelia so much!) but just frankly 3 strikes (uninviting space, rude customer service, food not as good) and I'm out. I read a few negative reviews of the new Saladelia location and I wanted to share my opinion. I've been using Yelp since the beginning, but this is the first time I've ever written anything here. I just wanted to say that everything I have eaten from the new Saladelia location has been delicious. That's all you need to know. If you want to go to a cafe where you can reliably sit indoors, then you need to go somewhere else. If you want delicious take-out food at reasonable prices, then this place is great. If you want to eat in a covered area outdoors, you can also do that here. I had the French Beef sandwich last night, and I was very satisfied with it. My wife had the grape leaves, and she said they were the best ones she's ever eaten. My kids have ordered the chicken salad and tuna sandwiches, and they happily ate them. My boyfriend and I go here pretty often, including last weekend. This is one of his favorite restaurants in Durham, and I enjoy it too.
